I actually shared a meal with my parents so I only had a chicken burrito which was good. I also sampled refried beans, black beans, and rice. Of the beans, I preferred the refried. The black were very bland. The rice was fine - nothing special. Our service was good - fast and efficient. The ambiance was also appropriate for a Mexican restaurant. Cinco de Mayo and the restaurant was jammed. We waited about 30 minutes to be seated. The house Margaritas were mediocre and our fajita was terrible. Service was great though. You could argue that expectations should be lowered on the busiest day of the year. Or, you could argue that the staff should be Uber prepared since the holiday happens annually. I lean into the second opinion. Unfortunately Leon's fell short. It is a shame because this family-run business deserves to be supported locally. We were going to go to the sushi place a few doors down. Decided to go to Leon's instead. It was Friday night so about a 20 minute wait for the 3 of us. I went to the bar to get some drinks. Got some margaritas with Don Julio Reposado on the rocks. Great pour and well worth the price. Found out the bartender was Leon the owner later. When getting seated he was by the hostess stand and said hello to my wife and daughter. I shook his hand and said how great the margaritas are. He explained how he had been there for 27 years! Then got seated and they brought out warm chips and great mild/medium chunky salsa. THIS is in the top 2 salsas within 50 miles of here. I have tried about 15 since we moved here a year ago. Anyways, the service was great. We got some cheese dip to start and it was great. Then I got the carne asada plate that comes with rice, beans, pico, guac and tortillas. Girls split the shrimp fajitas. Food came out quickly and it was FANTASTIC. Juan our server was great and so was the support staff. Leon even checked in on us towards the end of our meal. THAT ladies and gentlemen is a small business you can support! An owner that still gets in the trenches and makes sure his team is on point and the guests are well taken care of. My wife and I found Leon's when we needed a place to grab a drink before an event. We have been back multiple times, so I thought I should drop a review. The staff is really friendly and attentive. They have a nice outdoor eating area (but it overlooks the parking lot) that is nice to sit at on a nice night. Great drinks and food. My favorite is the enchiladas especial. I like the steak. It goes great with the cheese sauce. Their black beans are very tasty. We also tried the guacamole- a little too much onion for me. Looking forward to trying the desserts on our next visit. Went here with friends for an early birthday celebration. The food was good. The service was a little questionable... Our waiter took our drink order then had it completely messed up and had to come back twice to fix it. Then when he brought our food, he sat it in front of the wrong person each time. Overall, I would come back and try this place again. But this visit on a Saturday evening when it wasn't very crowded did not impress me very much. I would suggest writing down the orders instead of trying to remember them. read more

Great food and the service while lacking in timeliness made up for in kindness and humor. We really enjoy this place and the food is always great. It's my girlfriends second favorite Mexican place with the other being in the Fairfield area. They consistently have great food and while service can be lacking at times they make you smile and help you when needed. An example? Today on Cinco De Mayo we came in and spent $29.45 and had a coupon for $6 off $30. They still honored the coupon (my girlfriend pressured me to ask. Typically I dont use coupons let alot ask if I can use one under the limit). As for the food? My girlfriend always gets carne asada and its her 2nd favorite (although she said it's very close) one complaint she had was they didnt give nearly enough rice (I think they gave her lunch portion sides even though hers was an entree). Anyways, she loved it and ate it all. I just gave her my rice although the rice here is amazing. I ended up getting the lunch carnitas on this visit and they were great. A bit more fat than I like but I realize fat brings flavor so I just took it off. No big deal. As I mentioned above the rice is really good, probably the best rice I've had that wasnt homemade and the beans were above average. Only con is I didnt receive the sour cream and because of COVID theres no hot sauce on the table so I had to substitute beans as a sauce and it's just not the same. Ohhhh.... almost forgot; the chips and salsa are amazing. The chips were hot and crunchy and thin, the salsa while chunky, which I don't usually like, was amazing flavor. I just used a chip to cut it up and make it more saucy Overall I'd say a 4/5 but the outstanding kindness of our server made it a 5/5. read more

Our first time there but not our last. Friendly staff. Place is larger than it looks with nice size patio. The salsa was spicy with the right amount of heat. I had the Molcahete Ranchero and my husband ordered the Enchiladas Especial. His plate was a nice size but mine was enormous so much for at least a take home for another 2 meals. His was around 14.00 and mine not much more at 18.00. The meat in it was so tender too. The shrimp was cooked perfect. We absolutely suggest this place for Mexican food. read more

We have been here twice. The service is 5 stars. The menu is everything you would expect for a typical Mexican cantina. The salsa and chips are very good, not just bland filler before the meal. I like the heat level of the salsa, Wifey thinks it's almost too much. I recommend the Burrito Leon if you are really hungry. Get the black beans for a side, they come with a soft white Mexican cheese that is delicious. The furniture and decor could use an update, but its not a dive by any means. The bar looks well stocked, though we haven't bellied-up yet. I hope that they get busier so they can make more money, but I'm selfish, and I like that its not crowded yet.( they re opened recently) We pass 6 other similar joints to eat at this one. We have been here several times, and will no longer be going anywhere else for Mexican food. Everything is fresh and delicious. The service is also wonderful, and we are proud to support this local business. The salsa here is the best I've had. Made fresh daily, you just can't get better unless you make it yourself. We discovered Leon's last summer during Covid. It was one of the few locations with outside dining under shade. We continue to visit because of their reasonable prices, tasty menu options, and killer frozen margaritas. I had their fish/shrimp tacos this weekend and was so happy that they were just grilled, not fried/breaded, like many other places here. The service is great, too.
