Not sure if I'd go back here again. Couple of days ago i stopped by to purchase a store front door lock cylinder ( not sure if I'm saying it right ) and the face plate that goes on the lock. He charged me good money for those and the plate didn't come with 3 screws. I noticed that after he had already charged my CC. So I asked him do you have the screws for this plate? He says yes. Went to the back and brought me 3 small screws and now wants $1 for those !! Are you serious now ?? He probably has a ton of those lose screws in the back and I just purchased a lock cylinder and faceplate, and the plate shoud have come with screws. So I don't have cash with me. I ask him can you take CC for the $1. And he says yes. Sure. He swipes my card and when I sign the receipt I noticed he had changed me $1.50 instead of $1 !! Without confirming with me. It was really hot yesterday. ("How hot WAS it?") Well, it was SO hot that ...you can finish that line however you want, but when I realized I'd lost my car key I went from panic, to a glimmer of hope, to more panic, to sheer annoyance. That's when I looked for a locksmith in the Burbank area (I'm in Toluca Lake), and the first place I found was this one. Bonus - it's really highly rated, and with good reason. Made the call at after 5:00, gave the nice guy who answered the scoop, He got the info for my key, called back w/in a few mins., said he'd be here about 6:30, and was here 6:30 on the dot. In under ten minutes, I had a new main key, a lockout key for backup (won't start the car, but will get you in), and a written discount for a second programmed key if I want to visit his shop to have it made. The keys cost about half of what a Honda dealer would have charged, and another programmed key would be more like 1/3 - seriously! I'll be dropping by soon to get a second main key (we all should have one - learn from my pathetic story, people.) Oh, and when I go get that second key, I'll make sure to actually write down this great, friendly pro's NAME - I'm mortified to keep calling him a "guy" when he mentioned his name at least 3-4 times! I recently broke my key in half. I was looking at my one year old daughter in the back yard while I was locking the side door to our garage. When I looked back at the key, I noticed that it was nearly bent off. I guess I should always pay attention to the lock when I am turning the key. Anyway, I tried to bend it back to its straight position, and when I did, the metal became so weak that the bottom portion snapped right off. So this leads me to Leonard's Lock and Key. I noticed that they had extremely positive reviews so I decided to use their services. What a great choice I made!! I went inside and asked him if he could fix or replace my key. The moment I handed him the key, he was instantly carving away at a new key. In less than two minutes, he handed me the new key. I decided to also buy a colored top for the key so I could easily identify it. The whole fee was a paltry 6 dollars. He was so honest that he mentioned that sometimes the key duplication may not work with broken keys. However, he believed the key that I handed him had a clean break so it should work. To wrap this review up, I went home, stuck the key in the lock, and PRESTO, the door unlocked. 5 stars to Leonard for his expediency, honesty and effective craftsmanship. read more

First let me say they had the cheapest quote, but that changed when they completed the work. You'd be better going with someone who gives you a honest quote up front rather than these guys who give you a low price to get the job then try to bully you into a higher price. The work was done eventually and the price was not unreasonable being that it matched the other quotes we got in the long run from other companies. That being said these people are insane! We have an old mortise lock in our front door, a set screw broke off inside and the cylinder wouldn't spin, in short the lock was broken. The first locksmith they sent was hostile and made me feel extremely uncomfortable being alone with him. He couldn't manage to get the lock removed and was damaging the fixture trying to wrench it out. When I pointed out that he was damaging the door he yelled at me then stormed out of the house and didn't come back. We called the office to find out if they would sending another locksmith. They said they would in 2 hours. 4 hours later I called back to find out what time to expect them they said they would show up 3 hours from then. Then the owner called past the service window time I was given to explain that they weren't going to come out if i was not ok for them to superficially damage the door fixture. His demeanor was aggressive and rude. I gave him our landlords number so she could decide if it was ok to have her door to be damaged. When he did show up after 5 he removed the lock without damage and took it to his shop. While working he was very uncommunicative. It felt like he was giving me the silent treatment which was strange, like he was mad at me. He returned some time later, and quickly installed the lock and gave us a bill, which was nearly twice the original quote. When I asked him about it he started to yell at us about how the lock was broken and it was not his companies fault. (I know the lock is broken that's why we hired a locksmith) I told him that the landlord approved the original quote and would he call her to explain this new price? he said NO! I asked him why he wouldn't talk to her and he said that his price was fair and that he was not trying to trick me. I asked him why he didn't tell me the work was over his original quote before as he had several chances to do so during the day? As someone who has worked in construction myself that is common to see a job and realize your original estimate was not right but that needs to be communicated to the customer before completing a job. He promtly took off the back half of our door lock and said he would only charge us for the original bid but we could only have half of the parts. I asked him to please let me call the landlord because now the front half of the door would use a separate key than other side of door and Its seems logical to just talk to her if he wants to get paid for all of his work. He said no again! I called her anyways and handed the phone to him. He explained why his price was higher and then low and behold she paid him! Imagine that? He yelled a few more times before leaving, insisting that he was not trying to fight with us... after he left I broke down and cried. It was completely unnecessary to be treated this way! Bad costumer service does not even cover what happened to me today, I felt unsafe in me home. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE HORRIBLE! read more

I got locked out of my house like a goober and they came and got me back in. While they were here, they also changed a lock I wanted to have changed. It all cost less than I had anticipated and the majority of the cost was the service call, which I get. I've also been into the location before to have keys made and they were prompt and courteous. I gave four stars only because it took them MUCH longer to get to me than promised (they said within 30 minutes. It was closer to 75). The service guy explained what happened when he got here, and it was an understandable delay but I wish someone had thought to call and update me as I was ostensibly just sitting outside my house waiting. read more

I live in the valley and called every place suggested by yelp to get a copy of my car keys. This was the cheapest and the only one at a reasonable price. I got two keys for the price i wouldve had to pay for only one at other places. This guy is really fast and knows what he's doing. He doesnt waste time and knows exactly what to ask to figure out what you need. There's a driveway to the right of the store that looks like it belongs to the autoplace next to it. You can park there. He copied the keys and went out himself to test that each key worked on each door and the ignition. Then he told me after i paid to be sure to test both keys before i go. His prices for regular house keys is more expensive than Home Depot, but he's got a much great variety of designs. He dropped the price by $5 since i brought in my own blank keys for my car. I'm definitely coming back for all my key needs just because I want to support him. read more

This is a great locksmith shop! They are very friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are reasonable. They have a very large selection of keyrings, lanyards, and padlocks. I needed an extra key for my car. The dealership wanted $300 for an extra key and they wanted me to leave my car for six hours. Be VERY careful if you want these people to "pick" your locks if you're locked out of your house. I was locked out, and called them to get me in--- they came fast , but even though I told the guy to be careful because I wanted to keep these Schlage locks, he rushed, put WD40 in , jammed the tools at every door (3) and still couldn't open them. They are very delicate but great locks. Eventually, I was able to get in thru a window that was open. I tried to get in my house with my keys but now they dont work anymore!!!!!!! So he made a key, and I can open the front door but not the 2 other doors. I've got bruises on my finger from trying to open the locks with the keys he made. I say beware. I think he's ruined my locks. The next day i went to the location to speak with the owner who was unbelievably rude when I told him what happened--as if it was my fault that the keys didn't work. He said the man would be out to fix it the next day. The man came, and wanted to take off my locks and charge me extra. I've heard about these kind of scams where they mess up the lock and you have to get a new one, so I refused. I called the owner to tell him and the owner hung up. I've called another locksmith from Angies LIst to find out what he did. ----Update----I called a locksmith from Angies List. He came out and the man from Leonards had made keys with the wrong code. I wasted a 50 dollar house call plus 10.00 totaling 60.00 on the Leonards call, and the man who came out and fixed everything so that all the locks work smoothly only charged 40.00 total!.
