My dearest friend who passed away had a bday yesterday, and in following our tradition of truffling our bdays away, I succumbed. I have to admit, I have had better truffles, but the chocolate/almond bark here is better than I have had anywhere, including Amsterdam's finest chocolaterie... The boutique is gorgeous. Chocolate at its finest, in all shapes, sizes, flavours. No smore bars damnit. Beautiful gift arrangements, a lovely assortment for diabetics, and customer service at its finest. Owner is Lebanese and learned his skills there. Always takes me in the back to show me the art, which it truly is. He and his wife had a shop downtown and took a risk to move it to Lakeshore, invested all they had, and to date, the best in the city. Chocolate $30 a pound. Truffles, small, 16 for $25. Large, don't ask. They deliver of course...Just be careful of one thing, call before you go, very European in the matter of work. Many a time have gone to find a note on the door that they have gone out for a "bit"...but left the cell number so you can call, and they run back!
