Not only do they kill the custard game but they also have amazing food! If you like sloppy joe's then you need to try their juice burgers. Custard was good, service was wonderful, our gal was super friendly, but for what I was charged, I won't come back. The carhops are friendly, especially Annie - she seems to genuinely love her job, and is extremely personable and chipper. The exact type of person you'd hope to encounter at an adorable old-fashioned custard shop. I hope whoever her boss is sees this because she deserves a raise or at least some recognition for being great at her job and making you feel welcome! As far as I'm concerned, this place has become a must when I visiting Oshkosh! The whole atmosphere sets you back in time and it makes me feel like Danny Zuko and Sandra Lee are going to be there. The place sets you back in time, and the uniforms on the waitresses are a major plus. The staff is very attentive and nice. The food is delicious! The Joos burger is a bit on the spicer side, while the cheeseburgers were absolutely fantastic! For ice cream, I had something with the name Dust in it I believe. Leon's has been a staple in Oshkosh since well before I was born. My folks used to bring us here frequently while we were growing up. They have the BEST frozen custard anywhere, hands-down! They also make their own home made root beer and have a great selection of food, including some unique items like the Joos Burger. It's kind of like a spicy sloppy joe, but with a different texture, and the flavor is amazing! Their Hot Beef and Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches are fantastic as well! I have been here on a couple of different occasions, both as a quick stopover for dessert after a date, and the place was a big hit on both occasions. This place is basically an Americana throwback to the drive-ins of the 1950's and 1960's in small town USA. The difference here lies in the fact that it is not some kind of marketing theme, this place has been in continuous operation since that time period. Folks in the older generation (or History Channel buffs like myself) are sure to enjoy the sheer nostalgia of it all. From car hops in hoop skirts to having to turn on your headlights for service, I doubt much has changed in how this establishment does business from the way it was 50 years ago. I have never had any of the lunch or dinner items off the menu, so you will have to look elsewhere for opinions about that, but as to their signature custard, it is simply divine. It is nice and thick with a robust flavor and they have several options for how you would like it prepared. The first time I visited I had what is called an "Avalanche", which is essentially Leon's version of a Blizzard that you would receive from Dairy Queen. The difference being that these make DQ's take on the frozen dessert look incredibly weak by comparison. It was smooth and flavorful and they did not skimp on included toppings either. Most recently, I went with Carmel Cashew sundae, which was the ultimate mixture of sweet and salty. It was absolutely delicious. I polished off a large in rapid succession. The only bad thing about Leon's is that you need to be mindful that this is not light frozen yogurt you are dealing with here. It is VERY thick custard and because it tastes so good you will end up gobbling it down in short order. Since chances are you do not eat stuff like this very often, it hits your gut like ton of bricks. Or, at least, that is the impact it has on me anyway. It is probably a good idea to hit the gym a little bit harder for a couple of days after a visit to Leon's, but it is a justified sacrifice. read more

Excellent! The most popular reason to go to Leon's is for their Frozen Custard which is spectacular. The vanilla and chocolate are great and they offer many interesting "flavors of the day". They also have one of the BEST hamburgers in Oshkosh. I highly recommend trying one. If you do not like the hamburger, there is probably something wrong with you. The atmosphere is interesting. Vintage music playing while you sit in your car and have the wait staff take your order (dressed in their vintage 60's outfits). The wait staff customer service is way above average. Terrific little old fashioned 1950's drive-in, complete with waitresses who bring your food on a tray that they fasten to your door. My waitress recommended the beef sandwich, which I loved. Tasty, nice portion of pulled beef on a hamburger bun. In fact, it was so good, I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. A good bet, Leon's. Oh, and the vanilla shake was very good too.
