I was disappointed when the shoe repair spot at Langston Boulevard and George Mason closed a few years ago, so I'm incredibly happy that Golden Shoe is still around and going strong. I recently brought in a few pair of older Clarks. They are my favorite comfortable work dress shoes, but they had reached a point where they weren't quite right for business anymore. However, they still had plenty of life left in them. I took them to Golden Shoe for a full shine and restoration, and the results are fantastic. They look great now for a weekend or an evening out paired with blue jeans. This wasn't my first visit, either. Previously, I brought in my Doc Martens that I've owned since the 1990s. They handled that restoration perfectly as well. The recent repair work on my shoes was shoddy and very poor quality. I asked them to fix the repair, but they gave me excuses (this is a repair, not a new shoe!). This completely destroys nubuck leather in the shoe I did not ask them to polish the shoes and they do not have an understanding of how to treat different types of leather. I'm now sending them back to the manufacturer, who see if if they can restore them their original state. My wife also brought in a pair of boots to have the heels replaced, and they returned with some kind of wax or polish, which left a sticky finish on the boots. Over the…read morelast four months I have had three separate leather items repaired, cleaned and re-stiched/seamed. I had a leather jacket and two purses repaired. Bar none, the repairs were the best I have ever had done anywhere! The quality was outstanding! Their attention to detail is not something I see anymore. On all three repairs they found extra items that needed TLC and did them without extra charges. The staff is always friendly too. I would rate them 4 & 1/2 stars on their workmanship if I could. I would give Casmera 5 stars if they were not so in demand and took longer than expected for all the jobs. That is a great problem to have. Also, striving toward better communication with their customers about the repairs would definitely give them five stars. Don't go anywhere else. Go to Casmera. I proceeded given the number of items already in hand, but followed up again afterward and was not able to reach a resolution.
