I think Leo's Coney Island is slept on. Sure the DT parking is a pain, but what can you expect these days..... Especially with the new amphitheater! The food is reasonably priced and it is pretty consistent. Fries are always served hot and "fresh" out of the deep fryer. Sometimes when it's busy service can be a little slower but I don't think it's extraordinarily bad. If anything I'd say the servers have all been attentive when I've dined here. The ambiance is pretty much what you'd expect at a Coney Island. Clean, simple and "diner" vibes. I hand had brunch here yet, but do enjoy the gyro! Overall a decent spot to grab lunch DT GT! 4/5 stars! read more

Our server was GREAT, the star of the meal. The food, however fell way short. Leo's is trying to get away with greasy spoon diner type food, but without being a greasy spoon diner, you are just a mediocre at best restaurant. The freshly cleaned table still had crumbs all over it, the menus were a gross mixture of greasy and sticky. I ordered the avocado toast, which said it came with pico. What I received was two slices of sourdough toast, with a VERY thin layer of avocado on it, then absolutely piled with a pico that was at least 75% onions and very little anything else. Just look at how big and fluffy the pancakes are. Seriously, just look at the photos. That really says it all. I had been wanting pancakes for about a week and my go to spots all close at 2:30pm or 3pm and...it was about 2:45pm. Leo's is kind of a safe diner I can take my girls where they always find something they like on the menu. I'd never had their pancakes but I knew they served breakfast all day and took a shot. Listen...these were some of the best pancakes I've ever had and just like I like 'em....big and fluffy. I don't need whipped cream, or fruit. Just gimme some butter and syrup and I'm good. This place is always clean and just has super casual vibes which I dig. Oh....I also ordered a side of sausage links and they weren't cooked as well is I like them. You can't play with pork! Ain't no such thing as medium pork! You gotta cook them piggies well done! It may be another 6-months to a year before I treat myself to pancakes again, and surprisingly, Leo's will probably come to mind first. Especially if it's after 2:30pm. read more

Really loved our waitress, but our food took quite awhile (over 40 minutes) to arrive, and it was bland :(. Husband got the breakfast pita and coney dog, and I got the chicken lemon rice soup and the American Skillet. I really enjoyed the chicken lemon rice soup! It wasn't thick and overly sour like I've had at other locations. This one was brothy and had just the right amount of lemon. My American Skillet came with an overdone egg and super dry potatoes. Unfortunate as we were really looking forward to a hearty breakfast, but perhaps they were short staffed. Will have to try it again and update my review if our food experience improves. Oh how I wanted to love this place because the cashier was sooooo sweet and super friendly. So five stars to her. I'm here at a weeklong training for work and while there's a few restaurants within walking distance, I decided to come here. However, the food I ordered was beyond subpar and extremely tasteless. I will say the atmosphere was very inviting and decorative. Pretty epic in fact. The broccoli and cheese soup is supposed to have a level of texture like thickness and this was just watered down. The taco salad was perhaps the worst thing I've ever eaten in my life. I'm guessing this place is like a free for all type of diner where anything and everything is served. Sometimes having too many items makes it difficult to master good wholesome dishes. I mean they have Mexican, Chinese, Mediterranean, American and California cuisines. Met up with a buddy for lunch. He regularly goes here being so close to his work but I had never been. I'm not a real big hot dog fan unless done up right (I enjoy yesterdog but it's been so long) so I figured I'd give it a try. And truth be told they have ALOT more than just dogs (breakfast selections and lots of sandwiches and salads)! Anyways the food was great, I got the regular coney and Chicago coney for the added kick. Everything was very tasty and the service was fast and friendly. Biggest thing is the value- living up to true coney standards of great tasting food at an equal Great cost. Great spot for those reasons but even some people doing work or studying at some tables as it's a comfortable and spread out area and not terribly noisy by any means. My daughter had the chicken tenders with fries and I had the 2 coney dog combo with fries. There are so many good hot dog places around town that I feel guilty for even trying them here. The fries were soggy, tasteless, and cold. Even my daughter only ate a few, which is a big red flag. Our server was very nice and she took great care of us. Had to meet a friend here for lunch. The servers are nice however they are clearing tables of dirty dishes then going straight to get customers water and putting a plastic glass directly into the ice without ever washing their hands or using the ice scoop. Really happy I found this place! I've driven by it 100 times but decided to try it out yesterday and was impressed. There's a large menu with American and Greek options, many of which are healthier fare too. We got a gyro dinner and kabob dinner with sides of flaming saganaki and hummus. Tonight l was treated to the WORST POSSIBLE SERVICE by uncaring, unsupervised (no manager on duty!) that I have ever had in any restaurant. I waited 25 Minutes at an empty table with not one of the three waitresses who kept walking by bothering to ask me if I had been helped, wanted anything to drink, or if I was ready to order. When one of the unsupervised "princesses" finally did ask me if I had been helped, they acted surprised even though they could clearly see an Empty table in front of me. When I told them that I was very upset, she acted surprised. To put further "icing on the cake', she rang up the bill at full price rather than at the Wednesday Gyro Special price ($7.79 vs $6.00). They offered me a 10% discount off of my bill, however, I refused because had already made them ring it up at the CORRECT Price. If this is their new staff after the New Year, I can find somewhere else to grab breakfast, lunch, and dinner! read more

For a Coney Island - this place is clean and the food is prepared fresh. I used to just order fries and fried fish or shrimp here because I didn't trust any of the other stuff. Yesterday I ordered the chicken gyro pita (comes with grilled chicken, tomato, shredded lettuce and a side of tzatziki sauce) - I opted to get honey mustard instead because the sauce had kind of a funky flavor to me. The pita bread that the chicken comes on is SO GOOD. I now understand why you can get the pita as a side for other entree options. My husband always wants to come here for the chili cheese fries - he swears it is the best out of anywhere he has ever been. Being that he's from Detroit - it reminds him of Leo's on the east side and his childhood. I will say - their fries are top notch. This location is a bit far for us (we live on the south side of town) so it takes us a good 20 min to get there from Wyoming/Grandville area. We are excited for the location in Studio Park to open! read more

Sounds appetizing, I know. This is the Turkey Club and it just might be the best sandwich I've ever had.
