I can't recommend this location enough . Everyone was very helpful and friendly, especially the frames retail staff! I only had to wait a few minutes for the doctor and she was very fun, quick and professional. I knew before I arrived that my insurance would only cover frames purchased at one of their (For Eyes) franchises in Washington DC, but the gentleman was happy to give me detailed recommendations for other branches, & even which staff to speak to. He even placed call for me, answered all my questions, & let me try on frames. read more

We have been patients of Dr. Lerner for years and I can't fathom even attempting to go anywhere else for our eye and vision care. Her staff is awesome and welcoming with a caring professional atmosphere that is focused on you, the patient, Dr. Lerner is very thorough and takes her time to explain what's going on and how to remedy any issues. Also her office is conveniently located inside the eye glass store so purchasing new glasses and contact lens are super easy to do and can be delivered to you. There's ample parking and the surrounding area is nice with plenty of access and shops. 5/5 Stars to Dr. Lerner and Lerner Vision. read more

Had a great experience here today! It had been a while since I had my eyes examined and I went to Dr Lerner after a few years of not so great experiences with other places because she is the best. I'll drive 30-40 minutes to see her because she is thorough, has the latest technology, and knows her stuff! The office was pristine, everything was smooth in terms of payment, and safety measures were strictly adhered to, which is always comforting. I felt so happy with my exam that I stayed to get a pair of glasses as well! The team on the floor were great! I was helped by Syndy and she was very knowledgeable and made everything a breeze. Upon the recommendation of a colleague, I set up an eye appointment. It's close to the Bethesda Metro and they are very customer service oriented. Had my first appointment here the other day. Their new office is really nice and conveniently walkable for anyone who lives in downtown Bethesda. The staff and doctor were all nice and it was a quick appointment not much of a wait. They also have a large selection of namebrand glasses to choose from. Dr. Lerner's pleasant, but I gotta chime in as another patient facing billing issues. Received a bill for a visit from the previous year under different insurance. The administrative staff were polite but purported to have left multiple voicemails. While sorting through the problem, I was informed by my old insurance company that LVC had tried to file the same claim twice, and the real amount due thanks to in-network discounts was less than what I was actually invoiced. Enough suspect details that I'll probably take my eyeballs elsewhere from now on. read more

We were there yesterday with my daughter Cansu. She needed a new prescription for her eyes. When we entered there were two ladies in front desk and they were attentive and nice. Then one took her inside to do the first checks for her eyes with some machines. And then at right moment doctor Marie Lerner came to see my daughter. She was really professional and answered all questions we asked about her eye sight. We really liked her a lot. She likes what's she doing and that matters for us. We will continue to see her for further eye exams both for me myself and my daughter Cansu and my another daughter who does not need eye glasses now. Setting an appt was easy and they called and texted with reminders. Associates at the office were very proactive in asking what they could help me with and made sure I felt confident that they could help with whatever I needed. I arrived early and the Optometrist was available precisely at the time my appt was scheduled for so I didn't have to wait at all. She was very friendly, professional, attentive and efficient. I was going to let this one go, but since Dr Lerner keeps sending me reminders through every medium imaginable reminding me it's time for my yearly appointment I'm unable to just forget and am coming here to write a review. First, the good. The location is fab and if you are like me and work until 6pm most (okay all) nights her hours are really helpful. I got the correct diagnosis and prescription, and the store beneath her office has a good bordering on very good selection of glass frames. Staff is competent, not great. However, many days I will take competent and say thank you God so I am counting this as a point in her favor. However, as an individual, Lerner was not personable, and I actually at times felt her to be rude. She barely talked at all and did not ask me anything about what my concerns were. I don't require my doctors, dentists, etc to be chatty (in fact sometimes it annoys me) but at times I would say things to her and she either would not respond or responded with one word answers. For instance, she had a really cool Hebrew alphabet vision chart and I was learning Hebrew so I asked her about it. She gave the most minimal response possible. The real reason I would not return to this practice, though, is that I told Dr Lerner I thought my vision had gotten worse. When she did her exam she actually LAUGHED and said 'wow, it looks like your vision HAS gotten worse!" I didn't feel her little giggle was appropriate. I know she probably didn't mean anything by it but I don't think my worsening vision is funny and I didn't feel good about her reaction, nor did I understand it. I am grateful though that she keeps reminding me it's time for my yearly. It's helped me remember I need to find a new eye doctor. read more

Dr. Lerner is fine. I find her to be personable enough, but I'm not looking for a close relationship with my ophthalmologist... The only difficulties I've had here are with the staff in terms of billing. My family has a big name eye insurance plan that covers all of our exams in full. The only thing we would have to pay for are the optional services they sell (i.e., OptoMap). Repeatedly, and with different members of my family, the staff have messed up the billing. I was even told once that I owed money for the previous year, despite having not received any bills from Lerner Vision Care! What's strange about these repeated experiences is that when you push her staff on the benefits (e.g., ask that they call the insurance company to verify or double check their computers), the issue magically disappears... It feels a little like a racket because they're billing the insurance the whole time. It's just a question of how much you have to pay. If you like Dr. Lerner, stick with her, but be vigilant so that you are not overcharged. Personally, the repeated billing issues are just too much for my family. read more

I enjoyed her services for decades, and recently returned with my Dr. husband as the Corona Virus was Descending, to fine tune our reading glasses scripts. He was very favorably impressed by the Depth of her knowledge, the Extent to which she could rapidly conduct her examination while explain precisely articulating findings doctor to doctor. DR. How rare to have a Bethesda Business run by one of our own Maryland Sons, who labored in Every Aspects of the production of glasses in his Baltimore neighborhood, up until closure of the factory. As I approach Glasses Somewhat Differently -- the Unbeatable Team of Dr. Lerner and Manager Odom, are all about Getting it Exactly Right in a way that is pleasant, efficient, and the Least expensive... They articulate and offer Alternatives for those of us who are 'Odd Birds' Most folks enjoy help selecting New Frames. I happen to have many 4Eyes frames that Manager Odom was willing to refit with my new script, because the fit was better. Whether it is recycling frames, figuring out whether to advance to a particular script, or Make your eyes Work a bit harder to Not become quite so dependent. If you have broken frames you wish to reuse, Odom literally has a contact to get the frames soldered in upper Montgomery Co.! That is a level of service that is so far beyond the call of duty, I felt it merited a comment of this length. Overall great experience. As soon as I was done filling out he paperwork, I was taken back for testing. A few minutes after the testing was completed, Dr. Lerner was ready to see me. I was interested in wearing contacts for reading. Dr. Lerner was very patient in finding the right contacts to allow me to read with one eye and see distance with other (monovision). Incompetent and rude After I got my new glasses, I realized I couldn't see very well. Life happened and after a few months, I had the glasses checked. Once the desk clerk saw I purchased my glasses at Warby Parker, her tone changed. She asked if I had read their policy and pointed to the sign. I agreed to the $25 re-exam fee. Dr. Lerner said the prescription in the glasses matched hers but when she tested me, the prescription was different. She said they'd ship my glasses to Florida and replace the lenses. The desk clerk refused to take my glasses and pointed me across the room. They said I'd have to pay retail. I asked for Dr. Lerner and pointed out that her prescription never worked for me. I always had to sit in the front row in meetings since I got them. She implied I was lying and that my prescription changed. She refused to admit her mistake or take any responsibility. But, Warby Parker came through and instead of charging $125 for my lense replacement, they did it for free! Stay away from Lerner Vision! In response to your post: Thanks for the kind words. I only wish I had such a nice experience in your office. As a business owner, you are also responsible for your employees. Like you said, the prescription did change from what you originally gave me. Part of that was for the astigmatism which explains the blurry vision I experienced from the beginning. Poor accountability to make up claims about the glasses manufacturer, who by the way took complete accountability and gave me new glasses with the new prescription at no cost. Outstanding experience. As a first timer at Lerner Vision Care, the staff were great. Checking in was smooth. After some tests, Dr. Lerner came in, she was professional, kind, and very attentive and focused. She wanted to double check, so we repeated a couple of the tests and she rechecked. It took a bit longer, but I was so happy to have a thorough check up. Dr. Lerner is warm and friendly. Not only was it a great experience, but I'll return with my mom. I also ordered a couple of pairs of glasses. Richard Odom continued my excellent experience. Richard is the consummate professional, he understood my needs, helped me decide between frames, and was able to do it all quickly and professionally. I have been going to Doctor Lerner for several years and love this office. Erika out front is highly efficient - scheduling is easy and there are ample reminders about appointments. Dr. Lerner has always been right on schedule and yet she always has time for all of my questions regarding my aging eyes:). She gives good and practical advice, no attempt to push other products - just a great and very thorough eye exam. Oh and very convenient - this office is near metro and downtown Bethesda/Chevy Chase.
