I had an incredible experience at Wink! I will be coming here annually for my eye exam. I first went to Wink in 2022 and was helped by Dr Rachel Cohn. I then went to another eye doctor that was covered by my insurance plan. After not being satisfied at that location I returned to Wink because the care I got in 2022 was so good it was worth paying out of pocket. I could not believe that 3 years later Dr. Cohn remembered me and picked up our conversation from my first appointment. That level of personalization has solidified that Wink is my permanent eyecare boutique. My eye appointment was so quick and efficient because Wink has the best technology. They can scan your eyes and tweak your prescription in record time. What first put Wink on my radar was the brands of frames they carry. Specifically, I have always wanted a pair of Lindberg glasses. Wink made my eyeglass dreams come true! There was a Lindberg frame I was interested in but they did not have the color I wanted in the store. They placed a special order for me so I can try on the glasses in the color I was hoping would work before I committed to purchasing. The glasses came in, and the rest is history. I am currently writing this review wearing the glasses I have dreamed of owning for the last 10 years. My annual exam cannot happen soon enough. I visited Wink Eyecare Boutique and saw Dr Jennifer Karmiol for an annual eye exam. Before I entered her room, I heard auditory coughing, sneezing, and nose blowing. I should have left at that moment, but I thought surely a doctor wouldn't come to work with a transmissible virus. Upon entering the small and relatively airtight doctors office, Dr Karmiol was there to greet me with a black paper mask. While it was nice to see her masked, everyone at this point should realize that, mask or not, anyone with active mucosal discharge in a small room for a work day is going to spray viral material everywhere. The eye exam also involved relatively close face-to-face distances of a magnitude that a black paper mask isn't going to block viral transmission. While the exam was well done, I left thinking that if I got sick soon, I knew where I got it. Lo and behold, two days later, I come down with an upper respiratory infection. Covid or not, it is unacceptable for someone in the medical profession to see patients when they are blatantly sick. I wish my appointment had been rescheduled or that I had left the moment I heard audibly loud coughing and sneezing from someone about to administer me an eye exam. For those reading, I suggest you choose a different eye care provider who respects the health of their patients. read more

I have never worn glasses before, only readers, so picking out a frame was a new experience for me. Wink has a large selection of frames, both traditional and contemporary, and Amy was a big help in selecting a frame that I liked and looked good on me. I chose a "funky" frame and I get compliments on it wherever I go. In fact, several people have gone to to Wink after seeing my frames. More importantly, Wink makes good on their promise to make sure the lenses work. They re-made my glasses when I wasn't able to read with the lower part of my progressives. I've been a patient at Wink since moving to the area in 2005. I'm an eyewear addict and get an eye exam and at least one new pair of glasses at Wink every year. I've accumulated quite a collection and love every pair. I wear progressives and they haven't filled a prescription that was anything less than perfect. Twice, glasses were sent back to the lens lab my insurance plan requires them to use because Wink staff examined the lenses and found them to be unsatisfactory before contacting me to pick them up. I could swear that before I started going to Wink, at least 50% of the eyeglasses I got gave me headaches or made me feel a little queasy/dizzy in some situations. Dr. Cohn and ALL of her staff are friendly, love helping clients find the perfect frames, and I feel entirely comfortable just going there to window shop for potential new glasses. While they're attentive, I don't feel pressured or rushed, even if I'm not expecting to buy new glasses that day. I feel like I'm shopping with helpful girlfriends unafraid to tell you what they really think, even it's to say that the ones you just put on don't look so great on you. They're gifted at finding glasses that look perfect on me even if they didn't seem that interesting to me while just sitting on the shelf. Wink is a happy place to go to and it's not surprising to me that staff turnover is so low. I can't recommend them highly enough. read more

Wink is fab! They were efficient, knowledgable, friendly, and exceptionally helpful. As an aside, if you have a prescription and are just looking for glasses, they do walk ins. Wink takes VSP and made the whole process simple -- i.e., they did everything. I had to leave midway through the process and they were completely comfortable with this. Kim also cleaned and adjusted my current specs! All-in-all a very pleasant experience where I felt I was in the good hands of competent professionals! read more

I've always liked Wink for my daughter for the customer service from the people up front. I am middle aged and never had any issues with my eyes other than age related presbyopia. I get them checked out for preventative reasons. I just called to schedule my annual exam. As a middle aged person who hates reading glasses, I asked if I would be able to get a prescription to try Vuity, the new eye drop for presbyopia. I was told Dr. Cohn requires a "trial" at an additional fee of $80. Basically, she is charging $80 for a prescription. The FDA does not require a "trial" and possible side effects are clearly stated in the drug monograph. There is no reason for a "trial". She is trying to profit off a new, and likely to be very popular medication. Avoid her at all costs. read more

Okay, how much do I love Wink? SO much so that this is the first non-restaurant establishment that I've ever reviewed. Last year after having a less than stellar experience at MyEyeDr on Rockville Pike, I decided to shop around before I spent my hard-earned FSA. After narrowing my selections down to two local optometry digs, I noted that Wink's website had a link to request an appointment online. Being busy with school, work, and baby, the online appointment request won me over by a landslide. I emailed around 3:45-4PM. At 4:25PM, I received a phone call from the ever-vibrant Amy, who scheduled me at my request for a same-day appointment at 5:30 with Dr. Cohn. I arrived in the shopping center where Wink is located. It's in a tucked away location near the new Harris Teeter and Lifetime Fitness off of Seven Locks Rd. There's also a Walgreen's, Starbuck's, and Amici Miei (MMMmm)... As soon as I walked in, I made a beeline for the display glasses since there were some people paying at the front. As soon as she was free, Amy greeted me warmly and I filled out the usual paperwork. While my insurance was being verified, I tried on a few pairs of glasses. Then I met the wonderful Dr. Cohn who looks like a Barbie... an Optometrist Barbie. I felt at ease with her big smile and sweet disposition. I described my hellacious experience at MyEyeDr, and voiced my concerns about having too weak of a prescription. My vision has always been significantly worse in my right eye, and I was afraid that I would have to get a monocle. Dr. Cohn listened and answered any questions I had about having contact lenses for my astigmatism, laser correction, and prescription sunglasses. I was impressed with how high-tech everything at Wink was compared to MyEyeDr. Best of all, there wasn't that annoying machine that blows puffs of air into your eyeball. They had a green laser machine that photographs the inside of your eyeball which costs $40, but since I had FSA covering it, I didn't really mind the additional cost. Peace of mind knowing I had healthy eyeballs was worth it. After the speedy and thorough eye exam, Dr. Cohn stayed with me and helped me pick out frames instead of handing me off to someone else. I told her the more color, the better. She opened drawers and sorted through which ones might strike my fancy. The selection at Wink is outstanding, and they have frames that I've never seen in any of the eyeglasses display windows that I walk by at the mall or when I'm out shopping. Everytime I tried a new pair on, she would look and give me her opinion. When we had picked out our three favorites, Dr. Cohn asked Amy and another doctor for their opinions. We decided on a royal blue plastic and red titanium pair by Jean LaFont. The total would have been over $1300 without insurance. I ended up paying just under $500, and I would pay it again despite the fact that MyEyeDr only ran me $275. If you have a bunch of money left in your FSA that you will lose anyway if you don't spend it, I strongly recommend Wink Eyecare Boutique. Going to Wink was not just crossing something off the To-Do List, it was a FUN experience. While I paid, Amy even offered to clean my old grimy, embarrassingly-smudged scratched glasses that I had on. I left the place feeling great, and excited to get my glasses. On Saturday, Amy contacted me letting me know that my glasses were in. It is now three days later and I've received a ton of compliments on my awesome frames. The best part of this whole experience is knowing that I won't have to look any further for an optometry place that I trust! I've already referred a friend today :) Thank you Amy! Thank you Dr. Cohn! They would not work with me to find progressive lenses that I could see with. As a result, I ended up tossing these $900 glasses into my sock drawer. I have worn progressives for 10 years, and tried many different lenses - Zeiss GT, GT2, Sola HDV and probably others as well. But the best has been Definity in Trivex. The doctor wrote a prescription and the opticians on the other side in Wink filled it with Zeiss Individual, which is a new "HD" free form progressive. I could not "adapt", which is to say, I can't drive or read in these without issues. They did not want to put me in the lenses that I knew worked. Nor did they want try changing the segment height (when I first got progressives this change was like night and day). The answer - these are the best so we won't try anything else. So I kept them and wore them a month. After a month I put back on my three-year old progressives and I could see again. Wink's reply to this was that it was now too late to address. Did they cost $900? Yes, but my insurance brought it down to ~300. Now a year later, I'm going back to my old chain optician and will have the Definity lenses put in these frames. read more

Last week I left work after half a day because a stye in my eye was so uncomfortable. Crystal had already bought glasses that she loves here, so I was glad that they were able to squeeze me in. Dr. Cohen and the rest of the staff were great, and Dr. Cohen's treatment was so effective that I was fine a few days later! Went back today for an exam and new glasses. They have machines that I'd never seen before, and they sure made things go faster and more comfortably, e.g. no pupil dilation. We discussed some very interesting options for new glasses, and I ended up getting lenses that progress from driving to computer to reading, i.e. I won't need to put them on and take them off when I'm in a meeting and I'll be able to see my cell phone when I'm walking! Yeah, baby! A-and they showed me some very cool frames, so I ended up with a pair that are gonna rock wherever I go. Not cheap, but they have all kinds of high-tech stuff. Hell, far from cheap, but I'm fortunate enough to have the money for them, and I'm worth it. Did I mention how friendly everyone is? Well, they are! read more

Service just doesn't get any better than this! Within a few months of purchasing my new glasses and lenses, I noticed a couple of marks on only one of the lenses. Clearly, whatever happened was my fault because they were perfect when I took delivery of them. The chips/marks were in my line of sight and bothered me on occasion when the light hit them the wrong way, but I didn't want to make a big deal out of it. While at their trunk show for Robert Marc frames I happened to mention the marks to one of the staff to see if they could be buffed out or something, and they immediately offered to replace the lens. Wink not only replaced my damaged lens free (with no fuss, no muss) but they also replaced the other lens just in case there was a slight shade/glass color difference between the replacement and the new lens. This optometrist really does illustrate that you get what you pay for with regard to service. As I mentioned in my previous review, while this place is not the cheapest place to buy glasses it is almost certainly one of the best places. read more
