Heading to the 9th floor, we headed into the Washington Eye Physicians and Surgeons. The place is pretty spacious for the waiting room. Speaking of waiting room, there is a place in the back where you can aquire some "Cool, clear water" to drink. There may even be books to read while waiting for your party. Not a bad place to leave some unwanted books too. Second thing I noticed is the 2026 sign for the NEW ZAdministration Fee STARTING at $50.00. Apparently this was started just this year by the Doctors of Washington Eye Physicians and Surgeons. What will new year of 2027 bring? My dad told me his insurance for this place use to be taken, but not anymore. Now my dad has to file his own insurance. Blue Cross Blue Shield is one type of insurance one has to file to their own health insurance. Why? Because when Washington Eye Physicians and Surgeons file the insurance claim, it is rejected. This will depend on one's health coverage...feel free to get more information on this with the front desk agent(s). This place seems pretty expensive, but if they get the job done, then the cost is worth it. From what I saw my father's is happy with the outcome. The place's ambience was peaceful and moving like a well oiled machine. I would like to say the staff was helpful and polite. There was a mistake done and the process to correct the problem was handled swiftly. I will continue with a followup if the problem wasn't finalized within two week time spand of today. All in all, today's experience was a good one.

Hi, I'm Caleb Stewart. I originally had Wavelight Optimized LASIK with Dr. Andrew E. Holzman at TLC…read moreRockville's location on August 6th, 2021. Initially, I had a great experience. Every staff member was sweet and I was confident that the surgery would go well. Unfortunately, there were a few red flags that I will list below. 1. The technicians there claimed that my prescription was stable when it wasn't and my vision quickly regressed after a year. Furthermore, I had prior dry eye disease and the technicians lied and stated that it wouldn't be an issue...now I have a severe case years out. 2. I didn't get to meet with my surgeon to discuss risk of complications, if I'm a true candidate or not etc. 3. The staff didn't explain other alternatives such as ICL and didn't give a solid recommendation on what path to take. If I was told to wait until my mid 20s I probably would've had a better outcome and less chance of regression. 4. TLC decided to change the location of the surgery from Tyson's Corner to Rockville last minute also modifying the laser as well which could have had an effect on my overall outcome. Suddenly, when I developed all these complications TLC offered little to no help in contrast to how I was assisted pre-op. I now have day-time starbursts, haloes and severe dry eye which induces irregular astigmatism...causing awful ghosting that can only be possibly fixed through scleral lenses or extensive dry eye treatment. I've had to quit many of my hobbies and it made my quality of life way worse for a while. They only offered "enhancement" surgeries to improve my vision which are not FDA approved and make complications worse for many patients. I'm still not comfortable with my vision at 23, a little over two years out and feel like I got scammed and betrayed by the center. They also didn't give me a refund as well despite my efforts to be polite and courteous about the situation. What makes the situation worse is that I had to go out of my way to see my original surgeon since he opened up his own company just to see what occurred. I was given pupil-shrinking drops and was shrugged off and told that everything was in my head, it was very disheartening. I've had to take so much initiative seeing all kinds of specialists just to get help, it's very draining for a young man to go through and I'm thoroughly disappointed with my experience here. I'll attach some photos below of my prescription before and after and various photos of symptoms that I suffer with to this day. This surgery has ruined my early 20s due to the complications that I face daily. I'm stuck with poor vision that does not hold a candle to how it was before surgery and I am stuck with fluctuating ghosting vision. The center asked that I provide a $200 payment to sign up for a "lifetime plan" to get a second surgery which is not FDA approved. They are a joke. The center only has one line of communication (patient care manager team) and have no ounce of empathy and compassion in their bodies whatsoever. If you develop complications and issues, expect to be on your own and not get any assistance at all from TLC. Whenever I would reach out for genuine help and the ability to obtain a refund or at least some compensation they couldn't do anything. It's hilarious because whenever I mention making a payment towards my surgery they are enthusiastic and respond quickly but other than that, crickets. Please do not get refractive surgery if it's not needed, my life is now ruined thanks to these people. I can't enjoy my hobbies 100% like I used to or start to drive. My vision is like this day in day out 24/7 to give you an idea - https://imgur.com/a/gZnTHj8 https://imgur.com/a/2swivr9 I'll be posting pictures below of how my vision was and my general interactions with both Dr. Holzman, his company and TLC.

I was wowed by all the work they did for me to have this. It shows how amazing they are and how much they care about their patients. The receptionist were good except when I left there was a large Caucasian lady that was talking up a storm to the other receptionist while I was waiting to leave. She was also really loud one time when I was doing one of my eye pictures with Anthony (the tech). Like she didn't need to yell . Anyways, Anthony was my tech and he was AMAZING! I loved everything about him. He was kind and in every room that we went through he was told me everything that was going to happen in great detail like what to expect. He was super welcoming and understanding and I appreciated how knowledgeable he was. I spent around 30 mins with him going through a multitude of exams which was great because everything was shown. He told me about the eye drops and what they do. Dr. Waterman came in after and she was super sweet. I was not a candidate for lasik which was fine but she did give me two other options. She went into detail about them and answered all my questions. One of the best things that I liked about her was every and any question I asked, she DID NOT look at me like I was stupid. She answered me and as kind about it. She told me about my eyes in detail and her findings. I am glad that I met her she seems like a wonderful doctor running a wonderful place. Thank you Dr. Waterman and Anthony.

Highly recommend! I…read morehad my LASIK procedure done at the Charlottesville location and the staff members have always been extremely friendly. They were patient answering my million questions and I had a comfortable experience from beginning to end. While it is true that you do not see Dr. Holzman until the day of your procedure, it didn't bother me. Since you will see the optometrist at the office at least twice before your procedure, you will want to direct all your questions to him, so there are no surprises on the day of. On my procedure day, Dr. Holzman just reiterated what was already told to me many times. They send you a bunch of papers beforehand for you to sign, and you do want to read all of it. Being in the healthcare field, I am always reminding my own patients that each individual is different, and there is a chance that your results will be different from someone else's. So I went in expecting some cloudiness in my initial results, due to my high prescription, meanwhile hoping for the best. You go in on the day of your procedure and are given a Xanax to calm you. I personally wasn't very scared, and Xanax doesn't really kick in anyway until after you are in the operating room already. My advice is to trust Dr. Holzman and go in relaxed, and it'll be over quickly! The room was cold, but they gave me a blanket to cover my legs, and also a teddy bear to hold :) You feel some pressure (a lot of pressure) on your eyes and I believe it took less than 5 minutes per eye. When I stood up, I already felt like I had pretty good vision. I drunkenly went home (have your driver with you) and passed out immediately. Four hours later, I woke up feeling like I had perfect vision! At my post-op the next day, I was told I can see 20/15. Yay! I left that appointment and treated myself out to some new shades for the recovery week :) Make sure to use rewetting drops as I could feel my eyes getting better day by day. I believe a large part of this recovery is the patient compliance. Do wear shades outside, do sleep with goggles so you don't accidentally rub your eye, use the antibiotics and rewetting drops, and I hope everyone has as good an experience as I did!

However, when my question--about the likelihood of still needing contacts after the surgery--was passed on to Dr. Holzman by his staff, he completely lost his composure. He went on a rant, telling me I had no right to question him, bragging about performing surgery on professional athletes, and claiming he's the best in the area. His response was defensive and dismissive, completely misinterpreting my concerns as an attack on his abilities. Instead of addressing my anxiety, he focused on boasting about his reputation. This was by far the worst healthcare experience I've had, all thanks to Dr. Holzman's unprofessional tirade. Needless to say, I immediately canceled my procedure and will gladly take my money elsewhere.
