I had a tire blow out yesterday about 20 miles south of Les Schwab in Gardnerville... I had to have my car towed because a BMW does not have a spare.. The car was towed to Mark Smith Les Schwab in Gardnerville.. I don't expect them to keep the tire in stock so they told me it would be 2 days to get the tire.. They said i can go to get the new tire myself if i wanted the car earlier.. So I drove about 140 miles round trip and brought tire to them the next day.. The people who work there are great, very nice... The first guy told me it would be 60.00 to remove the blown tire and replace with a new one including ballancing and the tire dump fee.. Well I thought this was extremely high... When the work was done they charged me 52.99.. So i got the car back and brought it home... I kept thinking 53.00 is ALOT OF MONEY for the work.. So i called a competitor, just one.. There price was 28.00!! The reason the charge was so hight at Schwabb is because of CORPORATE!! I called the Corporate office and they could not care less..This is not my first time at this store.. They. manage to SCREW UP 3 brake jobs.. One screw up nearly got my wife killed.. The new brakes they put on were the wrong ones.. The brake hose was cut open by the hose rubbing on the inside of the wheel.... So the fluid came out resulting in NO BRAKES!.. Another job they did was on my F250s rear brakes.. They put the adjusters on backwards.. so instead of the brakes expanding while stopping in reverse they were expanding going forwards... They could not fix it so they gave me a refund and told me to take it to the dealer... so i did and Schwabb also broke the emergency brake cable... I would not take my lawn mower to them... I guess Corporated does not know who puts food on their table.... Never again.. read more

My husband took his truck in for a rotation and alignment. They called him and told him that they couldn't do the alignment due yo him needing new tie rod, tie rod arm, steering control box and ball joints. We told them not to do anything. Took it somewhere else and they said there was nothing wrong with it. For double of the price where we actually went. This place is just trying to get money. If you go and they tell you you need to replace stuff, get a second opinion. Be careful of the 5 star reviews. They are either friends of the people that work there or paid reviews. read more

We went to get the tires rotated, waited an hour in the lobby thinking the tires were getting rotated. They come inside and tell us the tires cannot be rotated. They were really nice but it would have been nice to know they couldn't rotate the tires before we waited an hour. We went over to T & T Automotive and they helped us. The front desk lady seemed to have no idea what she was doing and made me wait 20-30 minutes to figure everything out. Then they told me they couldn't change my tires because i have a spacer on my axel to change the pitch of my bolts so my rims can fit on my wrx. But i called before hand and asked if they could change my tires and i told them about my spaces and they said, to just walk in and they'll do it. Huge waste of my time and now I don't have my car because they didn't want to change my tires just because of a spacer. read more

Halfway through our 10 day road trip through CA, we blew a tire in our rented RV. Robert came out to replace two of our tires and had us ready to roll in less than 2 hours from the blow out. Before we parted ways he inspected the other tires and confirmed our thoughts that the remaining tires needed to be replaced as well. This was 5:30pm on a Wednesday. Knowing our situation, Robert made some calls to confirm that he could get the tires for us and change them out the next day. He even called the local RV park so that we had a place to stay for the night. He called me the next morning to let us he had the tires and we could come in for the remaining tire changes. An hour later he had the job done and we were back on the road. Robert and his wife were amazing and we could not have asked for a better experience in what had potential for a massive disaster to our vacation. As I read the reviews of others on this page I wanted to let you know that my experience was quite different than my dissatisfied fellow yelpers. I've got a 3 year old Toyota Rav and it needs a tire rotation prior to an early summer road trip. I'm also due an oil change and so I call a local oil place and ask if they'll do a tire rotation as well. Sure, they say, for $13. Now that's not a big deal, but it's on top of an oil change that will cost me nearly $90, and so I decide to give Les Schwab a call. When asked, they tell me, bring it down anytime and we'd be glad to take care of it. Heck, I'm saving $13 and they were very friendly on the phone. A couple of days later my wife takes the car down, and they are slammed. My wife, being the gentle person that she is, asks if it would be better to come back tomorrow first thing in the morning. They say that it would be easier to manage then. So we then decide to drop it off the night before so that they can squeeze it in first thing in the morning. We then run another errand that takes us about 20 minutes and the phone rings. It's Les Schwab calling and our car is already finished. They've also checked the brakes and there are no problems there. They also let us know that the car will be needing tires soon, and they provide us with two estimates on different sets of tires. There is no pressure, and we feel fantastic about the whole visit. When it comes to customer service, my wife and I felt great about our visit, and Les Schwab will always be a part of our tire buying consideration. read more

I think 5 stars is to low for the service and care I received today and in the past! Actually, I should have wrote a review a while ago as I have had to visit this Les Schwab in Gardnerville three times now in the past 4 months. No - not their fault - just needed services. With that being said, each and every time all of the staff from Melissa to the workers in the garage have been exceptional to say the least from having a low tire pressure and them going out of their way in a short time to fill up my tires, to having a vin inspection and to having a flat today. When I thought all was going to be a lot of money they were so caring to here my issues and give me some free services for my trouble. This place is truly a blessing! So far all the negative reviews - I am sorry you have had issues, but I don't see how unless they couldn't service your vehicle because they don't have the tools or have got too many people in front of you to service your car like fast food. They are good to you so be good to them in return. All that being said, I am definitely going here for my next tires. Thank you Les Schwab!!! read more

I just purchased my first ever set of Snow Mud tires. The customer service was wonderful. They were prompt answering their phone and helping me at the counter. The work was done in a timely manner and I was notified when the work was completed. I paid a bit more than other tire centers but the service and quality of work are worth it to me. read more

Never been to this location but just like every other Les Schwab I have been to, this location provided great service. The company really specializes in quality service. This location is locally owned and family members work and manage the store. Parking is great, place to sit and relax ( bring a laptop or something to read ) available in the lobby. Staff friendly. I had air bags installed on my truck 6 2022 The guy who installed them was lame. I called firestone they sent me to Les Schwab who I had a bad experience 2 years ago but ya brought my truck in. They went to 100% service determined a warranty issue after 2 service checks. Today they installed new gauges its fixed after a year of Bs from other mechanics. I have had too many issues with this place and will be looking to their competitors for further business. 1. They are way over priced compared to other stores. 2. I got a flat while the tire was under warranty they still made me pay for 50% of the new tire. 3. I called a week later and asked if I could make an appointment to get a new spare and the woman on the phone told me "we don't do appointments it's first come first serve." 3. The posted hours are 8am so I show up at 7:30 to try and be the first one but they are already open. 4. The guy at the front told me it would take about an hour. 2 hours later a female employee told me that they were backed up BECAUSE THEY HAD APPOINTMENTS. So turns out the lady lied and didn't tell me I could make appointments on line and then lied again when they told me it wouldn't take long. If I knew it would be over 2 hours to get my truck back I would have went home and made an appointment instead of sitting in their store for half a day. A waste of my money and my time! As a response to the customer service message. This doesn't change the fact that your employees lie to people and cost them money on multiple occasions. read more

Do not trust their free brake inspection! I was told there was 10,000 miles left on my brake pads and sent on my way even though my vehicle was making a horrible grinding noise when I tried to stop. Took my vehicle to Tires Plus the next day and was told the pads were completely gone and metal grinding on metal. So dangerous and irresponsible, do not trust this shop! read more

I know everyone is on edge due to COVID. This place keeps professional even under pressure. Kudos to Melissa for keeping calm. I watched some jerk flip out on her for no reason other than having to wait. She was nothing but professional to the guy. She tried to resolve and reason with him. To what reward for her hard work. This guy PURPOSEFULLY dumped his full cup of coffee at Melissa and her work station. No one deserves to be treated like this. No one should act like this. The Gardnerville Les Schwab Tire Center has graciously provided us free tire service on several occasions, i.e fixing a flat in the side wall on an original tire, checking air pressure and also a brake-check on a vehicle with dealer brakes. Today's experience was a little less than satisfactory as they didn't have our tire size even though I had been told by phone that they did. They redeemed themselves by selling me a slightly bigger tire for the price of the tire that would have been an exact replacement. However, there are pros and cons to having a larger tire. I wish the receptionist had recommended that I make an appointment because I ended up waiting over three hours due to a number of pre-scheduled appointments. Their waiting area is nice but I would have preferred waiting at home. read more

I got a tire set for my Chevy back in 2021. Payed off about $1,400 of the $1,800 total price of them until I rolled in and lost my truck. I then became homeless due to my injuries and not being able to work. I explained my situation to Les Schwab and they didn't give me a chance to pay on time, or make lesser payments until I got back on my feet. They took me to court shortly after and issued a warrant for my arrest for the $400 balance I owed. I did a week in Douglas County jail. I got out and paid $200 recently and they are coming back again with another lawsuit for the remaining $200. I just picked up a full time job, got a place to live and they still want to issue a warrant if I don't show up on the 28th of this month. I don't get paid until the 27th so I am safe there, barely making it but safe. I am a single father of a 6 year old and fought tooth and nail to get back on my feet and regain custody. This company is a bunch of crooks and will not work with you unless you make the on time, set payments. If you do not, they will send you to jail. I advise anyone to stay far away from this company and their affiliates! Unprecedented things happen in life and things happen, unfortunately these tires were $700-$800 overpriced and I should have thought about this before I signed the contract, that is my fault. But I do not recommend them to anyone! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would!! Needed my tires (from Les Schwab) rotated. There appeared to be very little wear on them and have only driven about 20k on them. I was told that they were beyond rotating because they were in such bad shape. The asst mngr looked at them as well as one of the workers. The quote printed out told me I needed to spend just under $500 for new tires. Oh yeah, sure!! I drove home perplexed and upset that the tires were on their last legs!! Then my husband was upset that we needed to put out more money before Christmas!! I was even thold that the car was unsafe to drive!! WHAT?? So I put the car away and then decided to take it to Les Schwab in Carson City. There is someone left who is honest...Thank God!! Guess what??? Nothing wrong with my tires...another 20k miles left on them and they happily rotated and balanced them!! Thank-you CARSON CITY LES SCHWAB!! Waited over an hour for a nail to be removed from a tire. They were kind enough comp it. However, the following morning I had low pressure indicated with same tire. The nail had not been removed, after all! Brought it in, again waited close to an hour. Jeremy, the tech who said he fixed it the night before, said he fixed another tire last night. He, in fact, was trying to cover his lie. I asked specifically for the tire with the nail in it! Once he got caught he said, "have a nice day" and walked off. I spoke to Mark, the manager, and never apologized for the huge inconvenience but backed up his employe. After realizing what had happened it was as clear that he was lying and I did notice my valve stem cover was replaced with a plastic one. A prior service they did not replace the plug for the spare. That was corrected by Melissa. Giving them a second chance was a mistake. Time off work for their error cost me more. This location is by far the worst as far as customer service and honesty. I'd rather go to Walmart. At least they're honest! Don't offer services you are not going to do! read more

I've been buying tires at Les Schwab stores since the 1980s, when I was a college student in Oregon. Les Schwab is KING of the tire business in the Pacific Northwest. Les Schwab started as a small tire retailer in central, agricultural Oregon about 50 years ago, and now there are something like 500 stores nationwide. Their success is all about the service. I've put (literally) hundreds of thousands of miles on Les Schwab tires on about a dozen different cars. Over the past few years, we've needed tires and tire-related stuff, and we always go to Mark Smith's (Les Schwab) Tire Center in Gardnerville. We've always been very, very happy with everything. Mark also sells stuff like batteries, snow chains, and suspension items, too. The service is always FAST, friendly, and knowledgeable. On many, many occasions, the guys there have made minor repairs - typically fixed flat tires - at NO CHARGE. AND, they did this in a few minutes, while we waited. Unbeatable. YELP DETAIL: this business appears to have three different listings on Yelp. I'm going to post this same review for all three, but I'm hoping that Yelp will simply delete the redundant listings. read more

This place was Awesome!!! My husband and I were on the 395 between Glenview and Holbrook when we hit something on the road that gave us a flat tire. Unfortunately the gps directions gave us wrong directions. We called and Melissa told us we were about 20 minutes away, they closed in 30. We got there at about 550. The guys were able to plug and patch it in 10 minutes. Plus they didn't charge us anything for it, which was really nice of them. I moved to the area and decided they would be my tire store. I made an appointment to get my tires rotated. They did it. No charge. I didn't even buy the tires there. Stay away from Les Swab, In Garderville. Let me explain my experience.... I purchased my tires there and they offer free rotation that's awesome. So I take my dodge truck I. For a rotation and I needed a alignment. I received a phone call from Swab saying that I needed tie rods that's way the truck is pulling to the right. OK , do what you have to do to make it right. I picked up the truck started home and the truck is still pulling to right bad. I called swab an now they're saying I need a offset ball joint. Again ok I'm going to take their professional opinion just let gets this done right. I dropped off the truck so we can make it right. They called 3 hrs later an said I'm good to go. I asked if the truck is driving straight now there response is the winds are very strong an really can't confirm that. I picked up the truck and now it's pulling to the left hard. So I called them to let them know. Now the story is that I need new tires. Mind you I rotated my tires every 3000 miles an have maybe 30,000 miles on them. It seems that they don't have a clue what they are doing an just fishing. I really wanted to like them because they are local owned. I bought $5,800 dollars on 6 Rv tires from them 2 years ago. I had a bad experience then after I picked up the Rv the inside tire extensions were missing. I had to replace them myself. BE AWARE ...., Chris, You have me into your professional advice at $1,300.00 dollars and the truck still isn't right. Wouldn't that upset you !! read more
