Not the greatest experience, sadly. My wife and I have been Costco members for years and are fans of the company and have never had a bad experience until we purchased tires through them. Ordering was simple and we got a decent price on them, but the guy helping us made me feel like we were an inconvenience to him and he'd rather be doing anything else. He wasn't outright rude, just not friendly in the slightest. Then, a few weeks later, came my appointment to have them installed. Appointment was for 1:00pm and I dropped off the key to them at 12:45pm. I was told it would be one hour to one hour and 15 minutes past appointment time, which means 2:15pm at the latest. My wife and I kill time and check back with them at about 2:10pm. Was then told that my car was never even pulled in. Guy said apologized, said they'd get right on it, and it would be about 30 minutes. An hour and a half AFTER THAT, I was finally given my keys. It took them nearly three hours past my appointment time to do this. I understand things happen, but c'mon. After reading reviews about how equally frustrating the ongoing tire services are here, I'm fully expecting the worst. read more

I scheduled an appointment for a tire rotation at my Carson City, NV Costco. I was told it would be an hour wait as they had a lot of installations. There was only one person at the service desk and the wait was 15 minutes to get assistance at the desk. After one hour, I returned and my car hadn't even been pulled in. I was told "another 30 minutes". So why then do you have appointments If customers just have to wait up to 2 hours? Here's a suggestion..... have one or 2 bays for tire rotations only for those who make an appointment! I love the tire sales here but returning for the FREE maintenance service is a waste of my time. Other tire centers in this town do rotations in 30 minutes with an appointment if the center is that busy, spread the appointments out online or have a rotation section for appointments only. Pretty ridiculous for the amount of money I and everyone else spends in here! read more

Costco Tire staff is friendly, the warranties are great, and the air station is wonderful! With that being said, we have been disappointed in the last few months with the quality of service. I'm not sure if Costco needs to hire more staff or spread out their appointments further. We have put new tires on two vehicles in the last few months. Our first vehicle went pretty smoothly. We were disappointed though when the tires were installed that Costco did not clean off whatever greasy gunk is used to put them on. It was all over each tire and wheel. We took them through a touchless car wash and that did not clean them off. Our autobody shop had a cleaner that they used to help us out. There was some miscommunication on when our appointment was, but they were able to squeeze us in when we showed up. The second vehicle didn't go quite as smooth. We never received a call that our tires were in, so two days before our schedule appointment, we tried calling to verify. The phone continuously rang the first time we called. The second time we tried, we were put on hold for 15 minutes before we finally hung up. We tried calling again, and it continuously rang again. We then called the Admin Office and were told by the person who answered the phone that the tire center was "swamped" and there wasn't anything he could do for us. We called the Admin Office again a few hours later and a different person answered the phone who was very helpful. She offered to go to the tire center and check on our tires for us. She called us back and was able to advise the tires were in. When we showed up for our appointment, there was a very long line. We waited 25 minutes in line just to drop off the car. Costco could save a lot of time if they figured out how to streamline drop offs and picks up. Maybe a line for people purchasing and people who have appointments? Maybe more staff? I'm not sure. Again we received brand new tires and wheels with greasy gunk all over them. I thank the tire staff for their hard work. I know they have some tough obstacles they are dealing with and they are always friendly and helpful. I hope someday they get the help they need and or some new process to help things run smoother. read more

I just found out only today, but maybe it's been this way for awhile cause Costco Tire is not my usual tire shop, though I but a lot of stuff inside the store. COSTCO TIRE HAS FREE SELF-SERVE AIR HOSES FOR PRESSURE CHECKS. You used to have to pull up to one of the garage bays and have a tech fill your tires for you. THis took away the tech's time from tire duties. THe two service spots for tire air are just to the left of the far left garage. Look for the bright green hoses. You just set the pressure you want and press the hose head to the tire valve and it beeps and stops at the pressure you entered. It worked well and was easy. So, if you need air in your tires, this is the place to go. You're supposed to be a Costco member to use it. Winter is here and you need more air cause of the cold. read more

Had to order the stock size tires for my 2008 dodge ram. That took 10 days could not get through to order on the phone after many trys / no answer So I had to driver\ there and pay in advance for the entire service. Then after the tires were delivered I called at least 15-20 times to make an appointment. No answer. Had my wife call/ no answer. My wife finally called the store manager and was told they rarely answer the phone but got her through somehow. Now I have a 2:00 appointment for installation. I show up on that appointed day 15 minutes early. 1:45. I'm told 1 to 1-1/2 hours to mount 4 stock tires I waited until 4:30 for my truck to be completed. To top it off I realize they never reset the TPMS light on the dash either Worst customer service and tire service I have ever experienced in my life. I"m 62 I will never buy tires at costco again. Damage my wife's Mercedes ML350, in mint condition, wheel with lug wrench then their third party administrator insurance company denied the $200 claim to fix wheel. They said I couldn't prove they did it, who in the hell put the new tires on my car... Costco did. I looked on social media and this is a common occurrence at all all Costco tire centers. Never again for me, to many places sell tires. read more

My emergency tire light came on so I wanted to get my tires checked before driving 3 1/2 hours to California for Thanksgiving. When I called around, Big O & Les Schwab told me they they couldn't even look at my tire until January. Costco said "give us 2 hours and we'll fix you right up". When I showed up at 5pm, they had had several employees call in sick and were extremely short handed. They still took my car, and were able to fix the problem in LESS than 2 hours! These guys have no idea how appreciative I am. They are awesome and I will never take my car anywhere else. Huge Thank you to the Costco Tire Center and they're amazing employees. read more

If price matters the most, Costco is where you will buy your tires. I saved over $100 comparing comparable tires to the local guy. Sadly, I made the decision to go with Costco, and I'm sad only because I do try to shop locally when I can. This time, Costco could not be beat. I will say that tire rotation and support is provided at any Costco, and that's a plus as you travel, but know that the tire department is very busy. Yesterday it took 1.5 hours to rotate my tires. This was a Monday afternoon, and I asked if it was better on other days. The manager told me, "Nope, i always allow for 1.5 hours for a tire rotation. This is the first and last time I'll ever buy tires at costco... I know why its important to take to a local tire shop whom inspects breaks and other issues. I had just had my truck tires rotated not even a month ago... I live in hill country and use my truck for work and sometimes have loads... at the arrival to work I hear the infamous grinding coming from my front tires... my brake pads were shot and grinding into my rotors.... all it takes it 2 seconds to look at the disk brake pads when a tire is off. . Something every other tire shop ive been to does and lets you know the condition... given they also do brakes but when they warn me they are low I do them myself... costcos' tech who seen my truck could have spent 2 seconds to say hey you need new pads soon.. instead im sent on my way...any amount of money I saved from the "better price" was lost in new rotors,time and loss of my work vehicle... I will never but tires here in my life... shame on me for not supporting the local guys... and having techs that check the integrity of the brakes and other parts necessary for safe driving.... My experience at the Tire Center at Costco Carson City was superb. I needed new tires installed that same day, and Bill helped me at the store. He was very knowledgable, friendly, and got me what I needed in the shortest time possible (as I was in a hurry to pick up my son from ski school). I called earlier and I was given the right information, and options available. The technician that helped with the installation was also very helpful when I picked up my car. Finally! Someone in the area who can properly balance performance tires. My Audi S6 is finicky about slightly imbalanced tires. Les Schwab couldn't do it, and Sport Haus couldn't do it, even with their claims of expansive machinery. Purcell in Reno did them well, but that's a headache of a drive. Costco seems to have capable technicians, and most importantly, then keep their balancing machines in balance (I understand that most with even the best machines can't do good work because their machines are out of whack.) Service was good, and they were cheerful even though I forgot my lug bolts (changing from winter tires) and that cost them some extra work. read more

I've been a loyal customer of Costco for years but not any more. I recently went to Costco to have new tires put on my truck. To make a long story short, Costco Tire Center damaged my rear fender. After a short ride home I noticed the damage. I reported the damage less than 30 minutes after leaving the shop. Needless to say Costco denied the claim and now I'm out a whole lot more money to fix my truck. If I could give ZERO STARS I would. I used to think Costco was reputable organization....not any more!! I urge everyone thinking about buying tires from Costco in Carson City to think twice. They have dishonest employees working in their tire center. Let my horrific experience be a lesson to you all. read more

We were going home from Tahoe n ran over a dime-size nail on a SUNDAY where all tire shops are closed. We are 9 hours away from home and really unsafe to drive on a spare tire. Chris from front office hooked us up! We told him we have to drive home and we are 9hrs away so he asked the guys to work on my car first. Costco Tire Center -- not Michelin -- rebated me the substantial $ difference when my MIchelin tires (though regularly rotated) with a 90,000 mile warranty wore out at 50,207 miles. I had never heard from Michelin despite submitting the same paperwork proofs of rotation. read more

Time to expand their garage tin order to provide the service that comes with purchasing tires there. Yes it's the busy season, however; got there 10 minutes before they opened, they opened the garage 10 minutes late and then made 3 of us wait another 10 minutes while they fussed with stuff in the garage. No reservations. Was told there's 2 hour minimum wait for a tire check and rotation. This was on Dec 13 a Wednesday. I'd got to know what the wait is on busier days. read more

I always have a pleasant experience when I go to Costco tires. I make an appointment ahead of time to cut down on my wait. I'm always seen promptly and the staff are always courteous and on time with the finished work. Today was even more exceptional... I was missing an air cap off one my tires and I meant to mention it and I'd forgotten. When I came out to pick up my car the staff had replaced the cap without me even asking! We were traveling with our travel trailer. Stayed overnight in Carson City and when we're ready to leave had a flat tire on the trailer- on a Sunday Morning.(No other tire stores open). Fortunately, we stayed at a RV park next door to Costco. The tire Center there fixed our problem, and we were ready to roll in about a half hour. The guys were great, very efficient, friendly and checked the other tires for us also. I felt they went above and beyond. Would 100% recommend them for your tire needs! read more

Its been a few years since I bought tires from this facility because of the poor workmanship, rude customer service and lies to cover their tracks. I had returned after my purchase for my scheduled rotation. They were very rude and on two separate occasions had broken more than one of my studs. They claimed that it was frozen on likely from a cross thread and their employees ALWAYS start with hand tightening the bolts. I told the manager that their facility was the last place to touch my tires and I personally saw one of their employees air ratchet it on without hand tightening. His facial expression of when I called him out spoke volumes of his integrity. Its a real shame because many other facilities do a great job but lack of pride in work and accountability will forever make this place substandard. I have since found another place that has shown me what real service is all about. read more

They would not honer their warranty. I had a damaged sidewall they said that since I did not have prof of rotation they would not replace the tire that had at least 4 or 5 times the legal tread ware left. Since the tires were on a 4 wheel drive vehicle I rotated them at home every time I chanced the oil. I told them they could measure the tread depth on all the tires, they said it didn't matter. Rotating the tires would not in any way affect the tire damage. The damage was a small stick not much larger than a tooth pick, it took 4 to 6 weeks to loose 10 pounds of presser. They took the tire off the wheel but would not reinflate the tire which I could not do at home since it requires a large air compressor to initially seat the tire. A long time ago Costco used offer good deals on tires, but anymore there are a lot of tire stores that are about the same price and presumably would honer their warranties. I will never buy tires from any Costco anymore. read more

Customer service at the counter was alright, but when I checked in they told me will take 2-3 hours to get tires installed, well almost 4 hours later I was out of there. If your time is valuable I recommend go somewhere else. read more

Good tire service, good prices selling Michelin and Bridgestone tires with free rotations, and flat repair. The wait is usually a little long, alot of times 2 hours. But now they have appointments which has made things better. They do torque the lug nuts by hand which is nice. And they use nitrogen in the tires, not sure if its better than air. read more

Had a tire emergency and although they didn't have the tire my bmw needed, he arranged for me to get it elsewhere just a mile away so I wouldn't be stranded in Nevada! Was recommended by a friend to come get my tire sensors put on. I also had a spare tire I needed them to replace on the left front. Seemed simple enough. The first estimated wait time to get it all done was 2 hours. After 2 hours it was 45 minutes. At 3 they said they just needed to finish up paperwork. After 3 and a half hours we finally received keys and were able to go home. The excuse was always they are busy and have no help. And James, the front desk person was on the brinks of rude. I wish the workers were more caring towards the customers. For such a simple job I was disappointed with the wait time whether they had 10 people working or 1. Won't be going here again! read more

Visiting from the Bay Area and needed two tires (actually three but they didn't push me.) checked all the local tire places and then looked for a nearby Costco. Great find! Service was great, wait time what they said it would be. They recommended I go back to the place in SF where I bought my newest tire (they were unfamiliar with brand) and get another one so that the tires on same axle would have same tread pattern. So I will have two of the brand from SF and two from Costco. I would have purchased four tires from here if I could have used my good tire as a spare. I have been a loyal customer of Costco for many years, and I just bought my third set of tires today, the staff are in dire need of customer service training, If not for the store manager 'Mitch" I would have walked out and demanded a full refund! first they couldn't get the lug nuts off, I told them to take the center caps off, they wouldn't do it, so I did. Then I told them to stop trying to make a 21mm socket work and use a SAE 7/8's socket(the guy didn't even know what i was talking about when i said SAE) They finally did use a 7/8's socket but didn't spray it with WD40 and yes the lug nuts stuck in the socket which "Arron" the tire tech was throwing a fit over it. These guys are supposed to be trained to work on cars, but didn't seem to know the very basic technics to do so! it was like dealing with children. Like I said "Mitch "the store manager was able to restore sanity to the situation, (Thank you Mitch). still took over four and a half hours to get out of there! read more
