If you need expensive tires, do come here. If you need anything else, stay away or go to the CDA store. Had front end work done here and they failed to put the bolts back in my lower splash shield. Of the six bolts holding the splash shield, they installed only two. Luckily I was near an auto parts shop when the shield came loose and was able to fix it. Not the kind of service one would expect after spending $1000 and waiting five hours! read more

Officially am an ex- Les Schwab customer after being a loyal LS customer for over 40 years. I did not know Les Schwab has changed ownership over the years. The Les Schwab patriarch died, and it is not the same. Each time I come into the LS store for tires, their "bad news bear" salesperson comes out and informs me I need $2000+ "service" - brakes or a $1300 control arm replacement. I fell for the "you need brakes" for my 2006 Toyota 4 Runner and after the job the car just did not feel the same while driving. I took it back 2 mo later to LS and they said I needed control arm replacement. So I got a 2nd opinion at Lightning Lube and they found the CV joints badly damaged and in need of replacement. While doing that job, they discovered the 'new' calipers (which LS had alledgedly installed) were not new! While at LIghtning Lube, I met another disgruntled LS customer who was getting the work LS had done to his truck fixed and found the same scenario - the parts LS had charged him for and said they installed had not been installed! I escalated my complaint to corporate and that is when I discovered LS was sold out to some French corp. The corp guy did nothing for me. The local LS manager brought over a new caliper and Lightning installed it. My car runs great now and doesn't list to port. Seems you shouldn't trust anything LS says to you and go get a 2nd opinion before handing them $. I use Lighting Lube now. I use Gription Tire Pros for tire changes, they are slighlty cheaper, get the job done quick, and you don't have to deal with the "bad news bear" telling you there is something wrong with your car. Plus, I don't want LS purposefully screwing up my car just to get more money out of me in 2 months! Both Lightning Lube and Gription are awesome, great customer service and quick. read more

After driving for 10,000 miles it's recommended to get your tires rotated, which I did not know until the guys here told me, so brought in my blazer and had my tires rotated... Fast, easy, & free! :) read more

Thanks to Grant and Jon at Les Scwab, 279 Bonner Mall Way, Sandpoint, ID.!!! I recently put on new tires and wheels on my Jeep Wrangler. The dealer balanced the new wheels. After about 500 miles I noted a shimmy in the steering wheel at about 55mph. As we're traveling and pulling the Jeep behind our motorhome, we weren't near the original dealer. I took the Jeep to a well rated tire service store in West Yellowstone, MT. They checked my Jeep and said I needed new ball joints but that the wheels were in balance. With only 35k miles, I didn't believe them. Took it to another shop. They said ball joints fine but tires out of balance. They re-balanced the tires. Driving away, I noted I still had the steering wheel shimmy. Went to Les Scwab in Sandpoint, ID. Explained my concerns Grant and Jon. Jon re-balanced the 1st wheel and came to me and explained what possible deficiencies from the previous balance efforts and what he was doing differently, a dual/two plane balance. Bottom line, Jon was right! My 3 mos saga with the steering wheel shimmy is now history. No shimmy whatsoever. Thanks Jon and Grant!!! read more

I went right across the way to the dollar store to look around and before I knew it they were already calling telling me that it was done!!! Keep in mind my family has been going to les Schwab for YEARS. Today we took our car in after they have already fixed the problem earlier this year. We talked with George and he was so rude! From the get go he didn't want to do business with us even though we do a lot of business with them. This employee SHOULD NOT be allowed to talk to customers! Went in to have two new studded tires swapped out at my no longer favorite tire store... At first they said they couldn't mount other peoples tires, she then asked the manager and said it was okay assuming I was going to buy two new studded tires. I told her I was only swapping mine out then the manager came out and said they could not mount the tires because of liability. They put the new ones on for us last year by the way.... He just said he would and by the way they already swapped out the studded tires that were not theirs a few weeks ago. Bad business and has now lost several customers times X because of BAD BUSINESS A week ago dropped off a set of chains for repair they never called, I had to call them to find out if they were done or not. We pulled up and almost immediately a friendly gentleman came over to our van. Buyer Beware! They sold me an absolute JUNK set of tires, and when one failed less than 3 months and a thousand miles later, they told me I was S.O.L. No warranty on it, no discount on a replacement, nada, they weren't willing to do a damn thing for me. I had my dated receipt and I was in their computer too. But they just couldn't care less about customer satisfaction or loyalty. I will never set foot in a Les Schwab store again, and I urge others to do the same. So long as people support businesses that don't care about customer satisfaction, they'll keep doing business that way. FYI I took the failed tire to Discount Tire, bought a replacement, and was assured they would cover a failure like that if it were to happen to the tire they sold me. Plus they gave better pricing. Discount is a much, much better place for your money. While I was there, I bought a whole new set of tires for my truck. That was a huge sale that Les Schwab never even got a shot at due to the way they treated me. UPDATE 7-14-16 While returning the failed tire at the request of my credit card company (processing a dispute/chargeback), I had the opportunity to talk with someone with more authority. He took care of me and gave me a refund on the failed tire. Had a bit of debate on the nature of the failure, and I maintain that it failed entirely too easily, but it's beside the point, he took care of it. So I've upgraded the review and would like to thank Nick for taking care of the issue. I own three businesses myself, and if there's one golden truth it's that customers are hard to come by, you simply can't let a customer go away feeling like he didn't get his money's worth when he bought from you. You do what you need to do to keep that from happening. Had they just offered me a discount on a replacement in the first place, I would have been fine with it. Anyway, I've upgraded to 3 stars, short of a perfect score due to the hassle factor. But at least they made it right, can't complain about that. Thanks Nick. read more

I walked in here to buy tires last week and didn't experience any above and beyond customer service at all. I kind of got the fealing that because they were (busy) that they must be making so much money that a new customer doesn't matter to them. After getting a quote for 4 tires I went home and did some research only to find that Discount tire in Coeur d,alene was about 25% less for basically the same tires(Cooper makes many of Les Scwabs tires). I went back the next day with the intent to buy the tires anyway (felt like supporting a local Sandpoint outfit) but ended up backing out when they couldn't fit me in the schedule for that day. The sales persons response was just a generic "okay" instead of a "sorry we couldn't accommodate you" or "we would hate to lose your business" - The whole experience left me with a feeling of them (doing me a favor) for taking MY money. Just wanted to put my honest experience out there for others. read more

Save yourself both money and the insult of being lied to about a so-called "liability" policy by going ANYWHERE else for tires and/or service! I went in with my son to have four brand new non-Les Schwab tires swapped out on his truck. As soon as the guy came in after looking at the tires we had, and told the guy behind the desk that they were Cooper tires, we were told they couldn't do it because of a liability issue. Pffff. When pressed, they explained that it wasn't because of the brand, but because we had bought them online. This is funny to me because I've taken Wild Country tires in before that were purchased online and they had no issue with that. Hmmm. Let's be clear. There is no liability issue. And even if there was, it would be simple enough to have the customer sign a liability waiver. It seems to me that the real reason Les Schwab refuses to service customers in this situation is because they clearly have an internal policy of not supporting any brand other than their own (which is usually much more expensive anyway). To hide behind some "liability policy" struck me as not only dishonest, but insulting as well. All they would have to do is just be honest and explain to customers that the policy is to only support the Les Schwab brand (which I could have accepted). Instead of hearing the real reason for the non-service, we had to listen to the spew about "liability". Very irritating to say the least! Every other tire place around here installs any tire without the same so-called liability issue. How do I know? Because after we had to leave Les Schwabb without getting any service we called around. Walmart, LIttle's, Martin's, Mr. Tire, every other place gladly serves the needs of the customer and will put tires on their vehicle if the tread and general condition of the tires is good. After we left, I called Larry back on the phone to express my disappointment and intention to take our business elsewhere. What a waste of time. All Larry could muster was a pathetic "I'm sorry you feel that way". I tried to express myself as a long-time customer, but he wasn't listening. It was all about the "policy". It was clear that what Les Schwab requires of their managers is to spout the party line at all costs. It didn't matter how many thousands of dollars we spend every year just on the four vehicles in our own immediate family. It didn't matter that our extended and rather substantial multi-generational Sandpoint family supports the Les Schwab brand to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars every year. None of that mattered at all. It seems to me like loyalty to a business should count for something. To be turned away the way we were proved that Les Schwab does not feel the same way. But, we do have the comfort to know that at least Larry is sorry. It is clear to me now that businesses like Les Schwab sometimes just get a little too big for their britches, and then develop misguided policies that ultimately alienate customers like me and my family. I suppose that if they have critical mass then losing a few customers here and there doesn't really impact their bottom line. There is nothing that a customer can do in this situation but take their business elsewhere, and that's what I'm forced to do. I'm sad to leave the Les Schwab habit behind (I mean who doesn't like free flat repair and tire rotation?), but am grateful that there are so many other good options for tires and service around here. read more
