We had previously called to get some help with our first pool, and decided to head down there since we were told they had the necessary equipment for us to get started. But when we spoke to the manager who was very welcoming, she let us know that they didn't have what we needed as it was late summer and we'd have a better chance online with intex. She was very kind and helpful, we left without the items we needed but we gain a new pool supply store that we will come to from now on. It really is about the way you treat your customers! If you have no choice and MUST do business here, the ONLY method to get what you want is to go to the Leslie's web site and find the EXACT item(s), print out the page with item number and picture, and take that into the store with you -- and then make sure they are selling you precisely the same item number. District manager Ian Nelson was very co-operative and helped his best to make my pool situation better. He offered complete solution and waved off amount I spent on chemicals and provided with additional free supplies. Another employee at the store was kind enough to stay late and explain me details and procedure to cleanse my pool. Except for store manager Kirsten, everything worked out fine! Visit this location occasionally for water tests and supplies. It's positioned in a out-of-the way strip mall in north Fremont, so is not particularly conveniently located for my typical shopping routes. I appreciate that neither employee -- Jessica or Daniel -- is very aggressive with selling their products during water tests, although do make recommendations. Unfortunately, both are typically condescending ("Huh? You mean, you're _not_ using our black algae killer"?) and will not volunteer information unless explicitly asked. This is especially the case when reached on the phone for a quick follow-up question or consult. Neither employee was very knowledgeable about equipment issues or chemical compatibility/usage, particularly Daniel. I do like that this location, like Milpitas, does have quite a number of odds and ends when it comes to pool parts, although not quite as well-stocked as Ewing Irrigation or Harrington Plastics, and is essentially the only pool-specialty shop around. Very much recommend folks sign up for the Leslie's rewards program, as they occasionally issue discount coupons for in-store and online. Just be sure to mention your name/address during check-out to accumulate rewards points. read more

I've have been purchasing my pool supplies, and having my pool water tested every month from this store for the last 2 1/2 yrs. Before I use to have a pool cleaning company who would come by once a week and just dump chemicals and test then leave, the rest was left up to me to maintain. Frank Holmes and staff has help me through those times, like what causes different kind of algae to grow, and what cause them to thrive in the pool as well as how different filters also affects the pool. I dropped by with a water sample and they did the analysis on it. They explained exactly what to do and helped me get my Pool in tip top shape! Thank you so much! One star for the pool filter cleaning service scheduled via this store and Leslie HQ sent their technician out locally to perform the service. The technician was inexperienced and dumped all the dirty water right by the pool. When I asked him when it dries out the wind will blow the dirts that he cleaned out right back to the pool, then what's the point of cleaning the filter? So that I can call them again in a month to schedule another cleaning appointment? The technician apologized and said "I should have thought of that and did the flushing out on the front yard instead of at the backyard right by the pool". Duh!!! He then recommended that I sweep the dirt after the water dried out. So basically after I paid more than $100 for his one hour service, after he left I had to spend another hour cleaning the floor and to get rid of the dirt that he flushed out of the filter. I called Leslie soon after the guy left when I realized that I had to do the work, and asked them to send him back to do the cleanup, they refused and the manager never called me back. Will not use them for the service anymore. What a rip-off!!!! read more

THEY ARE UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT!! The older reviews here are pretty accurate. You could not buy customer service here in the past, seriously, but they are under new management the past couple months or so. The new manager, Kirstin, is fabulous. Three things about her: 1.) She knows pool chemicals and maintenance 2.) Under her guidance, she helped me get the pea soup in my pool turned into crystal clear sparkling water! Thank you for that. 3.) She didn't make me buy anything I didn't need. In fact, she's tested my water a couple of times and just told me to go home and dose with this and dose with that; I left the store with only good directions. I had our first party to prepare for and she helped me "get 'er done!" Last year, I paid $100 a month for pool maintenance; the guy was very nice, but it just seemed so expensive for two visits a month and he'd be there for less than 15 minutes each time. It was time for a change. I decided to give Leslie another shot and was fortunate to meet Kirstin. I just hope the company doesn't move her anytime soon. read more

Leslie's is convient for proximity, prices are not the best, but the real value here is Frank. I use to drive to a different pool store in Milpitas due to their customer service, then I met Frank. He truly knows what he is doing. I wanted to switch our pool to saltwater, Frank answered all my questions, solved some of my problems and never upsaled me to crap I didn't need. As long as Frank is here, Leslie's will have my business. It shows me they actually value knowledgeable employees with great customer service. read more

Great customer service. They don't try to sell you anything you don't need and really try to guide you in the right direction. I truly felt their objective was to keep my pool healthy. Kirsten and Hannah are very knowledgable. Kirsten, the manager, always goes "above and beyond" to help customers. When I had no idea how to clean my filters, she instructed me via FaceTime them and took her time to address all key points. I don't know any pool person who would ever provide such service or even care as much as Kirsten. I hope her and Hannah stay here until retirement because they are so valuable to Leslie's. Needed a replacement filter for my spa. Was asked to come back after 1pm when the "spa guy" would be working. I was inquiring about purchasing a new filter since the pump pressure was constantly running high despite my cleaning of them. When Hannah took a look at my purchase history, she noticed that the filter I had was only a year old and that it should be lasting much longer than that. She suggested that I soak the filter in a solution of muriatic acid diluted in water to remove the junk off of the filter that normal water pressure does not remove. And lo and behold, the pressure dropped to normal levels as a brand new filter. She totally saved me some moolah. read more

I come here about every other week to get chlorine for my property. I have to admit that they have gone through a couple managers in the 3 years I've been coming and the were all good. Well they have a new manager (Jessica) and she is fantastic. I had left my receipt and she called my office to let me know. Always very helpful and eager to find you what you need. I can't remember the last time I received such amazing service, ANYWHERE. Kirsten is extremely knowledgeable and knows anything and everything there is to know about pools! We didn't even have to finish our question, and she already had the answer. I loved chatting with her about everything under the sun (oh yes, and our pool), and can't wait to come back and chat more! I had the worst experience with these guys. I would've given negative stars if i could. I had some problem with my pool and I went to Leslie pool for help. These guys seemed to be very friendly but turned out to be total jackasses. They charge a hell lot more than other alternatives and they totally misguided me. Because of these guys my pool turned out to be a total mess and had to spend a lot more to get it fixed. I would definitely not recommend taking their "Free water test" because it is there to totally rip off customers. Worst service ever!!! read more

I was on my way to Kragen Automotive when I passed by my local Leslies retailer. I'm at Leslies a lot in the summer for free water testing, picking up chemicals and professional advice. Last summer I brought my automatic pool sweep in for maintenance (Leslies will also check out your pool cleaner for free and offers free in store labor) I was able to get by the rest of the summer but as I was walking passed the window display of automatic pool cleaners just popped out at me. When I entered the store another display of cleaners was greeting me and I just felt it was a sign telling me it was time to bite the bullet and replace. I was greeted by Frank my go to guy. He's been there the last several years I have been shopping here. If you have a question he is the man and will give it to you straight up. Frank showed me all my options and at the end of our conversation I walked out with a Polaris 3900 - WORKS GREAT!
