We knew next to nothing about caring for a pool, but Josh and Andrew have helped us gain expertise year by year.

Huntington Woods Pools & Spas

I'm going to start and say that I've been a long time customer of Huntington Woods Pools & Spas and…read morehave appreciated their staff both at the store and on service appointments to our home (as my parents have as well). However this year I was extremely disappointed with our closing. Not only were things left unfinished, but pervious instructions on where to empty the water were ignored (ending up costing me $450) on top of the police showing up at our house (very irate)... Here are the list of issues: - Water was illegally dumped on the dirt road running into the Rouge River system. Neighbors called the police due to road erosion and contamination of the river way. - Pool water was emptied too low! This is supposed to be on the 2nd step, but the pump/basket was placed on the floor of our shallow end, putting the entire pool at risk through the winter months (more money will need to be spent upon opening to fill the pool back up). - Instructions were given to call us before emptying the pool or empty the pool water into our EZ-Ice ice rink. This was not done, resulting in an incremental bill of $450 to fill the rink. - Filter baskets (by pumps) left uncovered allowing fall debris to get in them until I covered them and cleaned them out to avoid damage. - Cover was initially put on backwards. It was corrected after I called and informed them - Minor, but they left pool cover 'bag' out and it blew into neighbors yard which I was unaware until they brought it back. - They didn't complete connecting all of the cover straps to the moorings in the ground. Given my past positive experiences and longtime patronage, I requested a pricing adjustment. After a very disappointing and somewhat condescending conversation with the 'owner' (arguing every point / example provided) they were only willing to decrease the bill by $50. The handling of this issue and overall aggressiveness of the owner has forced me to make this review, and ultimately end my business with them, and hopefully inform others so they don't run into the same situation. I know the owner is a 3rd generation for the store, so hopefully seeing a review like this will help him move back to the customer support level of where we've known and expected their service to be. PS- I did pay the bill in full given the insulting reduction that was provided...

When I questioned my bill, I was refused service and put on a list! Please see attached memos. I feel Noah (owner) may now be limiting their service areas. What other reason?

See attached photos ; what pool store maintains said hours during the summer ??…read more First ... is the 5 gallon bucket with the roof dripping @ the H2O testing station still there for the last decade(s) ? As a prior consumer over decades (2 plus pool(s) ago, driving by the establishment, local resident) I've spent a lot of $ over the last years here [(message me if interested in detailed info] I put their water testing system to the test versus another business. No matter what the water results there, they always push product, is the bucket still collecting water from the ceiling as we spend our $$ This business (Bishop) pushes product to make the money after a water test, to be blunt most products highlighted are counterproductive to the heat and unnecessary $ spent which turns into more $ spent, silly SO ..... I put it to the test a few summers back ... this post is because I can't believe the hours!!! Recently saw it closed driving on 12 mile between Coolidge / Greenfield Is the bucket still there?? The bucket near the testing station?? Last time I went (2 summers ago) I was told I needed product I said I'll be right back, left .. drove to a different location, same water test . results ; water tested good, no product pushed It's sad that this local business has gone downhill, reduced hours, pushes products & last I heard the hazard indeed remains. I get a roof is expensive, business is closed. I really didn't want to slam it, all the same ... it's not worth $$ spent ; is the bucket still there collecting water from the ceiling?? They can do BETTER as a SMALL BUSINESS unless it's that's good that the hours are condensed as such??? Not normal for a pool store

We found a beautiful specimen, bought it and contracted to Telly's to plant it. This was in September of 2025. Now seven months later, the specimen is dead. We took pictures to the store and I spoke to the person who sold me the tree originally. He told me he needed to consult an "expert". I was introduced to another man who looked at my pictures and fairly immediately diagnosed that there was something wrong with our soil and that is what killed the tree. He indicated that their warranty did not cover disease. He showed me the treatment for the soil and explained how to do it. We spent $90 on this treatment. After consulting with our landscaper, there were several things that were suggested, but here's the most important one. The tree dying so quickly would suggest that the disease may have been in the potted plant's soil WHEN it was planted. The landscaper found it unusual that if the disease were newly introduced to the plant from our soil that it would have died so quickly. At any rate, we will never buy another specimen tree like this from Telly's. This experience really felt like a "setup" between the two employees. We had to speak to the guy who knows how to "sell" this whole soil disease excuse. As consumers, we were in no position to argue. We'd suggest that you be very careful buying an expensive specimen from Telly's and risking having your money go up in smoke in just a few months time!
