For some reason this place has only one star, and well that's just not right. At the beginning of the year my pool was a lovely shade of lime green(sadly not pictured) it was very near being a swamp. I came in and I was told was to put half of a bottle of algicide and two bags of shock. So I did hoping I wouldn't have to drain my pool and when I checked on it the next morning it was starting to lighten up. I called and talk to the owner, Rob who was a great help telling me what I needed to do. So I fallowed his instructions put the rest of the algicide as well as a bottle of chlorine in and by the next morning everything dropped to the bottom and was easily vacuumed up. They have been a great help in store and over the phone, from keeping my pool crystal clear(as pictured) and when I needed to change the sand in the filter. But pools aren't the only thing he's good at, he helped us get our hot tube back into working order, he was able to order us a new filter that came in the next day and wasn't very pricey at all, he helped us order a new cover for it, as well as discard the old one. His prices are great, the employees are very friendly, helping me take what I've bought out to my car, and they do free water test, which really help make sure I don't add to much of any chemical. Regrettably, I did business with CJ Pool and Spa. On August 30th 2014 I took my soft tub spa pack into him to have the temperature setting adjusted up (both on forums and SoftTub, the manufacture, told me it was a simple matter to reset the temp inside the spa pack). So I turned off my spa, drained it, and took it to CJ's. After about 10 minutes the owner came out of the back room and told me the motor was blown but that he could sell me a replacement for roughly 479.00. Keep in mind, the spa pack was running great before he touched it. Okay big red flag, but the next closest dealer was 50 miles away so I said fine put in the new motor but I want my old motor back and I want a guarantee with this one. He said no problem and put the one year guarantee on the receipt. 3 weeks later the new spa motor that CJ's sold me for 479.00 dollars seized up. I was able to get it working again but it seized up for good one week later. I took it back to him. He told me the motor was blown and that he would have to replace it--again. After one week I called him to ask when I could pick it up. He said "I don't know I don't have a motor for it". I asked when he would have a motor and he said "I have to wait until one walks through the front door". Yes, those were his words, exactly. He was waiting for someone to come into his shop with a working spa motor that they wanted to sell to him? Give to him? or He could tell them it was "blown" and keep it. Keep in mind he could order a motor if he wanted to honer his warranty (like a reputable dealer). Or he could have given me my money back and told me he could not fix it. I gave him another week and called to ask on the status of the motor -- same answer, "I don't know when I will get one, it could take 6 months it could take a year". At this point, I called a second dealer in Michigan and ask them what they could do. After some discussion with them and the manufacture of the spa I decide to retrieve the spa pack to get it fixed (it had been with him 3 weeks). I gave the spa pack with the blown motor to the other Michigan dealer and just to double check, I gave him the motor CJ had removed from my pack telling me it was blown to check. In 3 days he called me back and told me the CJ motor was indeed blown but that there was nothing wrong with my original motor that he had removed it worked great--it never should have been replaced in the first place. The whole time this was happening I was in touch with the manufacture (SoftTub) of the spa. In fact, they have currently ask me for copies of all of my correspondence with CJ Pool. Which I am providing to them. Obviously he is an independent dealer and they have little control over his conduct except maybe taking away his dealership license which I hope they do. This guy is the worst kind of businessman. He replace a WORKING motor to make some dishonest money, then offered a bogus warranty he never intended to honer on the broken motor he sold me for 479.00. It dose not get any worse than that. read more

So my pool was green when i opened so i shocked it but it got milky cloudy went to cj and the told me that my phosavates wete screwed up so they sold me a bottle to remove it well it all settled to the bottom when i went to vaccuum it it milky again. Went to Pooltown and they told me what to do nothing they told me was what cj pools told me please dont go there. They will keep getting money out of you. I purchased a Soft Tub directly from the factory in Sept 2015. I live in western Michigan and do not have a nearby Soft Tub dealer to go to for service or support. I found Robert from CJ's Pool & Spas on the internet. He was a huge help over the phone to help with set up, tub care & water maintenance. Now in January, 2017 I am having difficulty with the jets and reached out to Robert for a second time. He was very courteous and gave me as much info as possible along with a contact # for Soft Tub corporate despite the fact that he did not sell the tub to me and did not make any money for his time that he spent conversing with me.
