Seriously Overrated! You would obviously rated the best as I assume you must have been the only participant in the competition. I went there thinking It would be Delaware's best fried chicken. But this turned out to be the worst fried chicken in Delaware. The chicken had the raw flavor and the meat was still pink. The chicken had thrice the oil content than Popeye's. The dine in ambience is worst and the teenage girl who worked there was rude. . I told her that the chicken was uncooked and left the plate after having the first bite. Then I went to the counter to tell this to her, she didn't even bother to respond. She just told she would look into it. I haven't understood what research she's gonna conduct on the left over chicken. This chicken is really a piece of shit. Coming to the ambience and the appearance of the staff really sucks. God know's how this was voted the delaware's best fried chicken. Don't waste your bucks! read more

The food is fabulous! I got the meatloaf dinner. It came with green beans, stewed tomatoes and mac&cheese. All of it was yummy and the portions were generous. My husband loved the broasted chicken and he is picky about fried chicken. I wish that their website had a notification that they don't start cooking until 3PM for dinner because I would have called sooner. It's crispy, it's steaming hot, and the chicken itself is mouth watering delicious. I also had the macaroni, it has a great flavor, and a side of coleslaw which was fresh and satisfying. called in the order. young lady ask me to hold to check if the could make the 3 sandwiches. two were the "southwood". grilled cheese with tomato soup. go to pick up and i ask where is the soup. "we don't have soup today". but that is part of the "southwood"!! "yeah....we don't have soup today, but we have it in the freezer". well why didn't you get one out of the freezer and heat it up? "well you can have something from our dessert case". where's the boss? "i'm back here. just get something from the case". and.......they charged me the full price!!!! will never go back!! and our company spends about $400 per week on food!!!! read more

We used Lettie's catering menu for a party and it was amazing. I ordered the chicken Marsala, roast beef, sausage penne marinara, and chicken strips. Everyone raved about the food and I can attest it was delicious. I'll definitely use them again for another party. read more

This fried chicken is truly a treat. The location adds to the charming character. I have ordered other items and they are very tasty but the real deal is the fried chicken. Call ahead of time so it's ready. This past 4th of July I need to add more food to my menu at the last minute. I called in a 32 piece order and they had no problem having it ready in 30 minutes. Everyone at the party raved about it. I am calling in another order this Thurs for a jewelry party I am hosting. Delicious, fresh, home cooking. Broasted chicken is heavenly, all of the sides are wonderful and their nightly dinners feel like home cooking. Don't even get me started on the desserts! Best chocolate cake, cream cheese frosting, cookies, cheesecake, everything! If you are in a hurry, call ahead. A dinner at Lettie's is always a nice, relaxing experience (with several trips to the case to pick out more sides and dessert!) Delicious fried chicken, great spot for catering parties or events. Ordering ahead of time is smart, if you walk in wait time might be between 45min - 1hour. WOW! Stopped in today with wife to try the Lettie's "famous" fried chicken. Had slaw, beans and corn pie sides with. The food was totally mouthwatering excellent. Fried chicken was the best I have EVER HAD, bar none. Also topped off with pieces of homemade chocolate cake (to die for) and scrumptious cherry cobbler. What are you waiting for - go try Lettie's and you will be hooked just like us (now). Oh, and BTW, the people cooking it up are down to earth neighborly, just like the eats! Love it! read more

Lettie's is a family-owned restaurant that serves homemade comfort food at reasonable prices, in a quaint setting. The broasted chicken is OUT OF THIS WORLD. Moist, juicy and bursting with flavor on the inside...crispy, salty goodness on the outside. It's like nothing I've ever had before. I'd even say it was the best chicken I've ever had. They also sell really, REALLY good homemade (of course) sides, like marinated vegetables, potato salad, macaroni salad, etc. You can take it to go, sit in their cozy indoor dining area, or if it's nice out, sit on the spacious wraparound porch. We were originally looking for Cassapullas which was closed and walked over to Lettie's hoping to get a decent sandwich. Yum. I don't very often eat things that are fried but they have what's called broasted chicken which has something to do with roasting in a broiler...or something like that. Anyway, I got the Brackenville sandwich, buffalo style and it was really good. Everything was fresh, a quality bun, and all around good. I'm sold on broasting. This is good, homestyle food. I wanted to try this amazing looking pie in the cooler but I was too full by the end of my sandwich. We sat on the patio, which was the perfect day for it and was cute and quaint. If I lived in the area I could totally see that place as a go-to for ordering chicken to-go and getting some mashed potatoes, gravy and an assortment of goodies and having a nice little feast at home. read more

I've had the broasted chicken on two occasions. Once it was terrific as several other reviewers have stated. On the second occasion, about a month later, I was very disappointed. It was greasy and over-fried and was inferior to the fried chicken available every day at many local supermarkets. Consistency is a hallmark of a good restaurant--Lettie's Kitchen has yet to master it. I cannot recommend this restaurant until I'm convinced they are routinely making the chicken I tasted the first time. read more

I thought i would try their chicken and ordered two thighs to eat in. I was one of three customers, while I was waiting for 20 minutes a woman came in inquiring about the vegetarian lasagna. She balked at the 7.99 per piece as she wanted to buy the whole pan. After she left the owner launched into a full volume F-bomb tirade against her. My two puny thighs arrived admist this drama, they were a dark brown color, lacked any hint of seasoning, and tasted as if they had been either re-cooked or the fryer oil was way past its prime. Royal Farms has a far superior chicken product, and you don't have to listen to an owner cursing about his customers! read more

I have frequented here for over the last 5 plus years and have watched the grow. It saddens me that the quality and customer service has gone down and prices have gone up. I order 2 legs and 1 wing on my lunch break. I didn't think I needed to check the box prior to going back to work. Once at work and looking in the box there was supposed to be a chicken wing in the box. The wing was missing the drumette piece. It actually had the bone just sticking out. I called back to inform the of this and the reason give was just unbelievable. "It's something happens and we don't know how we will receive them when they are cut." This item was placed in a box, someone clearly saw that this wasn't worth the money they were charging and should have take responsibility and not let it leave the establishment like this, instead of offering a generic excuse and asking me to return to get 1 chicken wing. read more

What a find! A friend had raved about Lettie's fried chicken. I happened to be in Hockessin last week, and decided to check it out. So glad I did! I was in the process of planning a birthday party for my husband. After meeting Tom, and looking at their menus! I decided to order all my food, rather than do it myself. I chose potato salad, macaroni salad, their delicious fried chicken, coleslaw, fruit salad, roast beef Au Jus, with rolls. Tom helped me with the amounts to order. He was right on target. The food was wonderful! The only thing I had to do that day was put out shrimp, dip, and, my own tossed salad. Most important, all our guests raved about the food. I am picky when it comes to food. I have done my own cooking for the past 47 years, but I admit, Lettie' was every bit, as good as, my home cooking, and, without any of the hassle. I couldn't be more pleased. You were terrific, thank you! I think a Lettie's lunch and/ or dinner will be a weekly treat for us. read more
