We recently redid all of our landscaping - front, driveway, back - hardscape, plants, etc. We had a sense of what we wanted, but knew we needed help with the design, so contacted several landscape design companies that had been recommended to us. We are so happy we were given Steve Letz' name and that we worked with him to develop our plans. We needed to have most of the hardscape redone (all new front walkways, driveway, back patio, flagstones, raised beds, trellises, and modification of a pony wall), along with almost all new plant installation, new irrigation, drainage, etc. Working with Steve was a very interactive process, with him listening to what we were thinking, and then sharing his thoughts on how to best accomplish our objectives. Steve gave us options for both hardscape (layout, materials, colors, etc.) and for plants. Once the plans were finalized, he provided suggestions for contractors (we would also highly recommend the contractor we worked with, Tim Vu of Springview Landscape). During the installation, Steve regularly visited, was always available to help when questions arose, confirmed plant placement, etc. In addition to being a very knowledgeable, talented landscape designer, Steve is a great person and was a pleasure to work with. Found out out about Steve on Yelp . Also contacted several other landscape designers. My wife and I met with Steve and discussed the project. We didn't have a specific idea in mind but did have some general ideas on what we might want for the front and back yards. Steve asked a good number of questions to help us through the entire process. We met again several times to review a draft design outline and discussed the type of plants. Steve provided us with a listing of plants to review and included notes. Once the plant selection was done Steve completed the final design and met with us to review. We walked through the entire plan design and made some minor changes. Steve followed all of the COVID 19 protocols and really helped us in the plant selection. He included some great ideas such as a sitting wall (which we love). He also provided a listing of potential landscapers to help us complete the job. The team we selected , Modern Image did a great job ((more to come on that review). We added a beautiful tree behind the sitting wall to provide more shade and privacy. And the lighting really makes a big difference. Great choice Steve! Steve stopped by to see the job progress and assisted the landscaper directly with the plant location throughout the property. He is professional, courteous and knows his business. We did make a few more minor changes throughout the work, but Steve was always responsive. Though we had a general idea of what kind of amenities we wanted, we needed a lot of guidance, and Steve was full of excellent ideas. I asked him about the possibility of him doing some landscape maintenance work on our townhouse, including tree trimming, etc. He very abruptly replied that he doesn't do that sort of thing, and that he does landscape design. I apologized for the confusion and asked if he could recommend anyone to do the work I needed. In a very rude voice, he said, "No I can't. Goodbye." And then hung up. I had the pleasure of working with Steven Letz of Letz Design Landscape after a few of my good friends recommended him. My small backyard was a bit of a mess (I had a well-known garden center provide landscape services in the past with very poor results). Steve listened well, took notes and addressed all of my concerns. He promptly met with me again to share his vision for new plantings. We agreed to continue using mostly succulents despite more shade than sun. Steve developed a list of possible plants for me to review and we worked together to come up with the new planting scheme. In a very short time, I had a new design and Steve gave me a list of a few landscape contractors he has partnered with for over many years. My new yard is now complete and I am so happy with the end result. This time I know I have the proper soil amendments and an irrigation system that works. I felt comfortable with Steve's attention to the construction process, as he came out when the contractor started the job and he came by to inspect the plantings and then he stopped by once again to see the finished work and ensure my satisfaction. Since I worked with Steve to create a drought tolerant garden for my front yard, as well as the hillside, I decided to give him a call, about a year ago, to ask if he would be willing to assist my church with a small space between two buildings that was a thriving garden some 20 years ago. Steve agreed and took a look to determine how to proceed. He came up with a lovely, viable plan, which included removing old trees, bushes and scrubs. And, provided a comprehensive list of plants based on sun and shade. Once the selection was made, he updated the plan for placement of each and suggested the use of pavers. In the meantime, the project is still in motion. The Garden Committee was seriously alerted by all the rain that a new drainage system needed to be put in place, which is about half done. Good news is that a parishioner offered to fund an inner door from the church into the garden and installation of a wheel chair ramp. This will alter the plan a bit. However, planting will begin once those tasks are completed. Steve is a gem to work with. Very easy. He's organized, extremely creative and an excellent listener.
