I have a complicated case, two spinal fusions, multiple levels. I found Dr. Sebastian to be a transparent, thorough and skilled chiropractor who utilizes many different machines to improve spinal stenosis. Dr. Sebastian takes multiple X rays of your problem area and interviews each client on their medical history and prior treatment . After the medical intake, the next treatment day, you are guided to a treatment room which includes a water massage bed and other decompression machines. Then, his darling assistant, Dianna, gives you a choice of a V-bro or stim machine. Dianna is very observant and notices how you walk into the treatment room to isolate your problem. She is always quick with a smile and a laugh. She also asks about any issues that bother you, whether the treatment is making things better, the same and worse and pain scale. The other staff that I know well, Dana and Karina, also are so friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. I found this wellness center such a positive experience, where even my doctor has noticed that after recovering from these 2 spinal surgeries after quite a few years, the inflammation is improving from my treatment with Dr. Sebastian. Purchased a groupon to get a massage (nothing to do with the chiro portion of this business). Went in person to make my appointment. several days later was called and told my appt was being rescheduled as the massuese was sick. with as many as they seem to have, did not understand why I wasn't given a new/different massage therapist vs changing my appt. first stop in a bad experience here. was rescheduled for days later not same day, another bad part. When I made the appt in person I didnt have the Groupon so they asked I call with the info. when they called to reschedule my appt. I gave the info for the groupon. the person read it back to me verifying the information. When I arrived to the appt early to fill out paperwork, no one asked anything about groupon so of course assumed all was fine and they had all info they needed. Now for the massage. young man, first room next to equipment where you can hear everything going on in front office so sound quality poor. the massage started out different with more super light touch Reiki style and breathe work, ok great, now get the massage started. Worst Strangest massage I've ever had an I have had 100s and 100s!! No massage of any real kind. Reiki style touching just above your skin vs hard deep tissue as the ad indicated and which I purchased. Breathing, lightly rubbing. Holding your head in his hands while doing nothing Literally nothing. holding zero gravity and slight pull on your vertebrea I understand, and a few seconds of that can feel good but he did it over 5 min!! some work on back and legs but mainly just doing this weird soft touching and holding feet and hands for zero gravity and breathe work! it was like a massage you might have before an accupuncture does their work. a courtesy massage when having PT or some sort of work like accupuncture. this was NOT a massage and certainly not Deep Tissue. Perhaps it is what you might experience AFTER you went to the chiro and have him give you an adjustment and then you had this massage before/after treatment. but do not purchase thinking you are getting a real 1 hr massage. total waste of money. and if that isn't bad enough: NOW the real reason for zero star review. as I left the terrible massage and upset about it, the person at the desk starts asking me for the groupon info (which I had not brought since I gave all info on the phone) and nothing was said to me the 15 min before my massage. then when I can't find it on my phone, we are interrupted by the doctor talking with a new patient and telling the same girl to help this other patient and she starts upselling her into a full package for her next visit, totally ignoring me! then goes back to me saying she needs the groupon #. I explain I gave it to the previous person who called me to reschedule the week before and they have my info, she keeps saying I don't have it. I explain I will have to go home to get on my computer and get the info and call her back and she won't let me leave without the info!! keeps asking, I keep saying I don't have it, I need to go home to get my computer (somehow not on my phone) and then she interrupts me again to answer the phone! I say I will call you when I get home and start to leave and she says no no you can't leave!!! Bizarre. I leave get in my car and she chases me outside to my car saying please stop come back inside!!! comes into the parking lot like I had stolen something. A total admin FIASCO from them rescheduling days after my original massage. not asking me for the info BEFORE my massage and then they don't have the info because of their lack of admin abilities and then chasing me down after what small amount of pleasure and stress relief of the terrible massage to totally upset me post massage. Dr. Scott is wonderful, and so is his staff! Dr. Scott helped and continues to help the pain in my back and neck from mild scoliosis and sciatica. The first step was a thorough exam with x-rays. Then a consultation with a personal program set up according to what issues you are having and how severe. Each visit includes a roller machine table that relaxes and massages your back. Then either a stimulator tool that sends electrical pulses to the sore part of your back or a hand held massage roller that gets rolled over your sore muscles. A warm heated blanket is put on your back while relaxing on the massage table until Dr. Scott comes in to adjust you. The whole experience is very relaxing and helpful! I purchased a Groupon for a massage because I am looking for a masseuse and a chiropractor closer to home because I drive all the way to Kearney Mesa for my chiropractic needs. The massage was excellent and I would have bought a package of it had not been for the chiropractor Dr Scott. Before my message they had him come in, he immediately insulted me for wearing a mask telling me "they don't do anything" and implying it was silly for me to wear it. He then "diagnosed" me just by looking at me and did not ask me a single question. He was completely wrong about his "diagnosis". He said I obviously have shoulder pain by the way I was sitting. I actually have a herniated disk and several bulging disks in my low back but since he didn't ask me any questions about whether I had pain, issues or if I was seeing a chiropractor he wouldn't know. I felt like I was at a timeshare sales pitch. He spent the entire time talking about what a wonderful chiropractor, how I needed to "up my expectations of the massage because it's going to be better then anticipated" and how much his patients love him. Well, I'm not a patient of his and never will be because of the way he treated me and how he didn't seem to care about my issues enough to even ask me why I was there. Terrible "bedside manner" Unfortunately what the doctor doesn't know is I am VERY familiar with chiropractic, my daughters father is a chiropractor and I was with him during his time at chiropractic college and 13 years after. I am familiar with many different modalities and have been adjusted by many of his friends and co-workers. I know good chiropractic and that's why I drive to Kearney Mesa. A good chiropractor asks about your pain and issues before deciding what you are there for, period. No one diagnoses you before checking you out and asking questions. Dr Scott may have been practicing forever, may actually be a good chiropractor (I wouldn't know, he didn't adjust me but I saw him using a chiropractic tool that some use instead of a manual adjustment that I find extremely ineffective) but the way he spoke to me was not professional or the type of communication I would expect from a chiropractor who has practices for so many years. Dr Scott lost his wonderful massage therapist a good client with his condescending speech and lack of concern for the patient. read more

Got a fantastic deal on Living Social for a massage a while ago and they were nice enough to honor it since Covid. I wasn't sure what to expect because it was not just a massage place but it was awesome. I was the last appointment, had a nice young man, I wish I could remember his name but it was the most relaxing massage I've ever had. I hate Swedish, tickling, I have a lot of sport injuries, so he was a great balance between working the Fascia and not hurting me which I am used to deep tissue and like, but not relaxing and deeper than rubbing my skin. Bad experience all the way around, I even contacted my previous chiropractor to confirm some of my suspicions (which I now see in some of these other reviews as well). Seems unethical that someone people come to for pain relief would do less than everything he could to try and help. My neck locked up after my move and was in need of an adjustment not uncommon to many others I have had in the past which almost always provide instant relief. Red Flag 1: Pre adjustment exam that wasnt covered by my insurance. I actually bit on this one as I figured it was the cost of doing business and moving to another city required finding someone good (not to mention I was desperate and in pain). This was a dog and pony show to say the least. Unnecessary, staged dialog between the Dr and his assistant with a lot of "oh wow's" and "interesting" which was almost laughable. I went through the motions just waiting for it to be over so I could get my adjustment. Red Flag 2: Pushed me HARD for Xrays. Was upfront that insurance wouldn't cover it (I wonder why) and I have been to many previous chiropractors in my life who had never asked for them. He stated if he didnt have them he would be "flying blind" and how he normally charges $69 but was having a "new patient special" that day so it would only be $49 for me. I pushed back on this one as being unnecessary to which he gave me several rebuttals, at one point even saying it would be hard for him to do his job if he didn't have them. I declined again and he said "OK, I guess you know your body better than I do LOL". Red Flag 3: Half ass adjustment. I have been to several great chiropractors in my life (see my review of arbor vitae wellness center in LA) so I know what a proper adjustment should be. Dr Ford knew I needed my neck adjusted and deliberately tried not to adjust it during the procedure stating that the lower lumbar and other areas he previously adjusted "should do the trick." I asked for it to be done and he pushed back stating I didn't need it, I was persistent so he finally did what could only be described as a mediocre attempt on one side ONLY (which i later found out was a ploy so I would have to come back). I dont know why I didnt push harder but he said to come see him in 2 days if I didnt feel better. Stupid me I did. Red Flag 4: Tried same tricks a second time. I returned for my second visit to which i was again told I needed Xrays. When I said no he even laughed and said "if this is how its gonna be we are gonna have a hard time working together". I placated him and said lets just adjust and if things dont get better we can do it next time (knowing I would never be coming back). He AGAIN only tried to adjust one side of my neck...from here I was adamant I needed the other side done as well. Again with the dog and pony show. Magically, even though every other part of the adjustment was swift and forceful, this one needed to be taken carefully because....wait for it....there was no Xrays to see so he didnt want to damage anything. Finally got to it and was met with instant relief which seemed almost annoying to him. When he took me to the receptionist he stated to her "hes a maybe be-back so make sure we have his number" and walked away without even a thank you or have a nice day. Called my previous chiropractor and he confirmed all of my suspicions, he stated the Xrays and half adjustment were very old school and meant to maximize dollars and visits. Super disappointing and, frankly, unethical for a Dr. to use these type of tactics on people. Go to the Joint in La Costa, no appointment needed and they are great (they actually adjust your whole body). read more
