The Shoreline Park towards the Foster City side, has a bridge to observe wildlife refuge. This is where I spend most of my time especially, during the summer months to watch and observe wildlife. But more importantly, I sit there to zen, reflect, remain still and quiet; all awhile rejuvenating my sense of balance. I recommend coming here if you need to decompress and try to experience a moment of stillness. You might just discover another world of yourself that you didn't know existed. Cheers!

We were visiting San Mateo, and looking for a hike to burn off a fantastic lunch. The first 0.2…read moremiles or so of the hike right off of the Laurelwood Park playground was really easy. Once you get to the hill to climb up to the top, the elevation picks up very quickly. If you plan on going to the top (and coming back down) to enjoy the panoramic views from the city to the ocean, I highly recommend proper hiking shoes and walking sticks. Along some of the paths, make sure to watch out for poison oak on both sides so take it slow. All in all, well worth the exercise and very fun experience! Lots of parking on the street outside too!

Rather than simply ringing up the sale, he walked me through the fix, explained the risks, and made sure I knew what to watch out for. I recommend coming on a week day to secure a parking spot Easy Trail: the cordilleras trail is wheelchair and stroller friendly! It's a 0.3 mile flat trail that breaks off into other trails leading to the dog park or towards the creek. This trail is paved, so no worries about bumpy roads or muddy patches Moderate Trail: the blue oak trail has a steep incline immediately at the start of the hike. It zig zags and is a ~200 ft elevation increase for 0.4 miles. It gets dusty but is doable due to the many trees for shade. It leads directly to the off leash dog area

There was a lot of parking when we went on a Saturday afternoon. They had a few parking lots scattered in the area. There are a lot of picnic areas that you can reserve for the BBQ grills. There were plenty of bathrooms scattered throughout the picnic areas. The one I used was relatively clean and had plenty of toilet paper. They have a lot of trails here where you can bike or walk. You can watch the planes go in and out of the airport above you! There are also a lot of birds hanging out in and by water if you want to bird watch. I was hoping to catch some sea lions but I guess they weren't around. There is unfortunately a lot of powerlines in the area that would spoil an otherwise nice view but what can you do. I also saw there was a yacht club by the water! I saw you could rent the facilities for parties (not sure if you had to be a member or not).

It is a bicycle and pedestrian trail. The trail is wide enough and scenic. We only took a short walk after dinner close to sunset and it was very beautiful.

Then, it's a short walk on a gradual decline to the lake but it wasn't a difficult one, and coming back up didn't feel steep either. Plenty of bikers and runners on the trail too. Since it's a dog-friendly, I brought my dog along and kept him on a tight leash, as there are many signs warning that this is mountain lion habitat as well. There were plenty of great views of the Belmont landscape and it was a very peaceful hike. Great place to shut your mind off for a bit. I'd definitely come back and go for a run here. I also appreciated the garbage cans placed sporadically along the trail. Unfortunately, there are only porta-potties located at the entrance - would be a little better if there was one more in the middle of the trail.

We ended up inside a condo complex with guest parking and another trail entrance. We walked towards the lake and walked the loop. We went out early before it warmed up. A pot of other people on bikes, walking dogs, and running.
