I have been taking my dog for almost a year now. Met amazing dog moms and dads. Recently we have had new comers who couldn't care less for the safety of their own pets and others. To an extent where a guy had his dog into a fight with a bigger one and has the audacity to come with a gun second day looking for him to kill it. People please watch out for your pets. If your dog is aggressive his place is NOT in a dog park. I am tired breaking off fights where my dog is not even involved but the owner is too busy chatting or on their phones and couldn't care less if their pet started a fight .not acceptable read more

This is the dog park we will go to now! It is a little further drive however that is justifiable with great parking and clean spaces. Only downsides...lots of poop (so watch your step...) and there was a big puddle in one corner of the park (one of our pups love drinking water from puddles...). read more

For a neighborhood park, I think Tanglewood Park is great! I love this park bc mostly it's only a 5 min walk from my place, and there's a lot of green field for my border collie to run around! Driving past the park, you'd never know how much space is behind those tennis courts! They recently renovated the parking lot, gated dog park, and also added a stand for doggy bags. The park includes all of the following: -2 tennis courts (i do see ppl regularly playing a lot and others waiting- fyi) -gated children's playground -gazebo -gated dog park w/ gazebo -baseball field area -sidewalk track around the field for walking/running -grassy field area I'm here every afternoon with my dog, and I love seeing how many people are out enjoying themselves instead of inside watching tv! #didyaknow I've heard from multiple ppl at the park that Barbara Bush and her secret service come out to this park! I'm assuming she goes during the weekday when most ppl are at work bc I have yet to spot her! read more

Shaded with enormous trees, Tanglewood Bark Park is an off leash dog park located on the corner of Bering @ Woodway. The park isn't new, but the dog area is. There's Plenty of room to run (1/4 acre) and a picnic table. This park is BYOB (Bring your own bags). They have a one size fits all double gated enclosure instead of having separate areas for large and small dogs. I had to scoop my gal up a few times because she looked a little overwhelmed when 3-4 biggies were sniffing her from all directions. They don't have a pond or fountain, and truthfully, if they had one it would look out of place. Not to mention, there's isn't a wash down area- so, I don't think anyone (except dogs) miss having a pond here. If my little pup is going to get dirty, I like to be able to bathe her on the way out. Parking is a limited. I was able to find a place along the street (Bering). I won't give a free area or service a bad rating because I'm glad just to have the option. This isn't my favorite dog park out there, but it's nice to have & fits the area perfectly especially because there are a lot of apartments & condos in the area. I doubt I will revisit only because I can just as easily head south to Danny Jackson Dog Park, north to the bark park on TC Jester, or just visit one of the many parks in the Montrose/Heights area... although these aren't exactly dog parks- they are closer to home. You might want to bring: A fold up chair, bug spray, dog bowl, bottled water, & your 'lil plastic bags. Have fun out there. read more

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this park! It's well lit, yet shaded with trees, and safe with the fire department across the way, small but has so much going on for everyone! (1) Gated kids playground (2) Gated dog playground (3) Tennis court (4) Baseball/Kickball field (5) Track for exercising (6) Picnic tables (7) Gazebos There isn't much parking in the parking lot but there's plenty of street parking. The track is small but for me I don't mind because it's safe and it's nice to see the kids and dogs play as you make your rounds. And if you're lucky, you might see Barbara Bush with her agent and her adorable dogs exercising. As old as she is she's still exercising in her walker and cleaning up after her dogs!! Ok, so let me begin by saying that although this is a dog park, it's also a relaxing park to do some walking. I don't have a dog, but love this park because it contains a tennis court, kids playground and baseball field! Also the walking trail is .20 mile and you really don't feel it, before you know it.. You she walked over a mile. The location is perfect, about 10 minutes from my house and the scenery is so relaxing. I love to come here after a long day at work, and watching all the cute dogs that come and play. read more

We decided to bring my dog to the dog park since the weather was nice over the weekend. It was the first time that we had ever visited, although we live pretty close by. The dog park section of the park is rather small- has a few benches and picnic tables for people to sit on, with a gazebo for shade from the sun. I did notice there weren't that many trash bins for people to dispose their pets' waste. There was one at the very front of the dog park which was most memorable because it smelled AWFUL. I also noticed not very many people who had brought their dogs to this park where being very watchful over them because I noticed several dogs "going potty" with no one cleaning it up. There also was not a hose at the entrance, so good luck washing off your dog before you get back into your car. This being said, not the cleanest dog park we've visited, but the most conveniently located. read more

Not-too-large, fenced-in dog park next to a baseball field, tennis court, and a kids playground. I come here quite often because it's convenient to my house. It's also nice to have Barnaby's cafe nearby where you can eat on the patio and your dog is given water and a treat. Parking is mostly on the street, but there is always a space. This park was great for my dog when he was younger. It's not too big that I have to chase him around when he wanders off. I can keep an eye on him wherever he is in the park. I don't think I have seen more that 10 dogs here at one time, which is probably good for dog park newbies. The dog park is on a slight hill, so a large mud puddle accumulates after it rains. There are patches of dirt everywhere from where the dogs have worn down the grass. There's no dog wash here, so beware. There is a nice gazebo for shade and a few picnic tables and benches scattered around. Most people sit under the gazebo and chat with the other owners. There is a box there where plastic bags are kept for doo-doo duty. The dispensers outside are usually empty. The owners here are quite attentive to their dogs. Only once did I see an owner who should have been more attentive about getting his dog to stop bullying another dog. No problems have ever occurred though. My dog loves playing here and always has a great time. He gets quite worn out and takes a nap when we get home. read more

This is a pretty decent neighborhood park ...tennis court, dog area, water fountain. The only way it could be better is if there was a bathroom but pretty good to take your lunch bag there and enjoy good weather. Last time I was there a German Shepard came and sniffed my chicken salad and then he just ran off to his owner so guard your food as there are inconsiderate dog owners there who get their dogs to go off leash before they go to the off leash area but other than that, it's a great park! read more

Absolutely love love love this park!!! Visitors can walk, jog, baseball, football, dog walk, tennis, playground, etc. my 4 year old loves the playground like crazy. He also makes some friends while playing there. Folks seem very friendly. So far, no drama. While watching my boy, I always sit at the bench to read a book or just play with my phone. It is always relaxing on a nice day. Occasionally I would hang out with some church folks at the picnic table Saturday evening. Sometimes my family loves eating dinner out there ... it's lovely day and night. One thing I don't like about this park is that no public bathroom is around. If I have to go, I must have to go home. Luckily, I live just down the street ... so no biggie if it isn't urgent. Or else it will be troublesome!!!! So as for now, I can only give it 4 stars. read more

I usually wait and write a review after a few visits but this dog park was spectacular! I only went there once on a weekday and my dogs and I and my husband enjoyed the place. We chatted with other dog owners and they seem like regulars. This park is in the "Tanglewood" area so most owners are retired, emptynesters or super rich people and those who are living near the area. I would not be surprised if I saw Bush or his Assistant come by with their dog. Bowls are provided and there is a communal chest that holds stuff like doody bags and other things for our pups. Lots of land space for them to run around and all in all a gorgeous area. read more

Bruno and I come here weekly since we live within walking distance. That said, there are bigger dog parks with more amenities in Houston than this neighborhood one. PROS: _Attentive owners: Most everyone does a good job of keeping their dogs in line. _Neighborhood "run" park: Even though it's a City of Houston park, the majority of the funding to build the park was from nearby residents with a vested interest in their furry friends. Occasionally, the park will host doggie "social" functions (costume contest, etc.) _Newly renovated: Used to be grassy with big ditches of mud after it'd rain, but since it's been renovated (early 2010), everything has been covered with bark (pun intended), a new dog drinking fountain has been put in place, and an additional bench has been added. _Tennis balls: Always plenty lying around _Trash bags: There are never any bags in the city-provided dispenser, but there is a community jar of grocery bags that forever sits on one of the benches. CONS: _No wash off area _Crowded _Dust/Dirt in certain area can be bad on the eyes when dogs are running around (wear sunglasses!!) A good number of dogs are older in age and kind of just sniff and sit around. But there's always a handful of medium/larger dogs (5-6) with lots of energy that liven things up. read more

I tend to find a little time in the middle of my day to go for a little walk. A few times I did come to this park. Even though it is pretty small, it is a nice little area to get away for a bit. For those in the area, you can walk your dog, take kids to the playground, have a tennis match, or even just sit and relax on the benches or in the gazebo. The track is just like regular sidewalk concrete and is maybe 1/4 mile. There is a little area next to the playground with a table and benches for those maybe wanting to eat outside for a change. I also really like the tennis court which is full sized and caged of course. I'm all for parks and anything that makes Houston a little more green and keeps its people active. In this busy part of the Tanglewood area with condos and businesses, this little piece of park is perfect for those looking for a short break from their day. read more

This park is adorable. I pass it nearly every day but never really knew what it was like inside. There is a large field with back posts for playing baseball or kickball. There is a paved track around the entire park that people use to walk and jog. It's a pretty small track but it's well lit. There is an adorable gazebo and some picnic tables. Of course, there is a jungle gym playground area for kids. There is also a tennis court and more importantly the connected Bark Park. It's an all mulch park separated by fences. It's so much fun to watch all the different types of dogs. My friends and I came out here on a week night with a frisbee and a foxtail and just played in the open field until the sun went down. It was relaxing and not too crowded. A great way to spend a day outside! read more

I like this park because there are usually just a few dogs there and all the owners are very watchful. Generally it's pretty clean and there's a covered pavilion with benches offering shade. There are lots of toys laying around and many water bowls too. It's not large in size, but is just big enough for an apartment dog to get out and run! read more

This is a pretty convenient dog park to walk to from where I live. I take my pug Lola about 2-3 times a month. There's a gazebo, a few benches and picnic tables placed within. Also there's water fountains to keep the pups hydrated! read more

Decent size gated dog area, the dog owners there were really friendly and understanding with my puppy since he still in the training process. All the dogs in the area were really friendly. My only problem was the concrete steps around the gazebo. They were really high step and my pup scraped himself up around it. read more

My dogs and I visited here as refugees of sorts, as our great regular park, Bill Archer Dog Park is still closed due to the floods. It's a sweet, safe little park that has very few amenities compared to the one we are used to. My review is based on one visit, but I do plan on going back until our big park re-opens. Pros: 1. It isn't underwater. :) 2. Small enough that I can have Polly within eyesight at all times. Polly's a scent hound (Basset) and doesn't listen, so it's easy to lose track of her at a huge park. 3. Plenty of water bowls and poop bags. 4. Shady gazebo for sitting 5. Friendly, older pet-owners, who keep an eye on their dogs, not their text messages (again, this was based on one weekday 10am visit) Seems like a safe place. Cons: 1. Major Hazard: Fence is NOT secure if you have a small dog. It is wrought iron, and they failed to put wire around the bottom to prevent small dogs from going right under and out! This park is on Woodway, a very busy major street. 2. No water features, like a pond. My dog Jesse really loves ponds, and I swear that he was looking around for one. 3. The ground is mainly...well, ground. The park has a little grass at each end, but is otherwise 80% dirt. There are no wash stations, either, so if the ground is muddy...you're taking it home with you. ;) 4. Street parking only. I recommend it, but with reservations, especially if you have small dogs that could escape. The city needs to correct this safety hazard, then make a few upgrades to the park. read more

I had taken my 4-month old puppy to this park and oh my goodness! The only dogs that were there were large dogs and one jumped on me several times when I had my puppy in my arms! It was awful! I don't think that he belonged to anyone because everybody just stood there looking like bumps on a log and they did not offer to help. This is probably one of the worst dog parks I have been to. My dog and I came here on a Saturday afternoon so it wasn't too busy and it was mostly big dogs. The whole time we were there (for 20 min because I got so fed up with the the idiots) 2 labs that were on a leash aggressively barking at a small dog and tried to jump towards it, the lady kept saying," oh don't worry, he needs to just settle down first" ummmm any person with half a brain knows you are not supposed to have a dog on a leash in a dog park, that causes aggression. Duh. Another owner who was sitting under the gazebo with his nose in a book never once looked up to see what his dog was doing. If he did look up he would have seen his dog pooping. Yup. You guessed it, that poop was never picked up. Another owner who had two young kids in the dog park didn't say a word while they picked up every ball they could and threw them at people, dogs and over the fence. She just stood there never once saying anything. Nice parenting skills. So short answer to will I be coming here again with my dog. Hell no. read more

My first time here with my chihuahua mix (7lbs). She had a blast rolling in the clay mud. The majority of the the park is sand/clay/dirt, the outer areas of the park lining the fence is grass. Unfortunately the fence surrounding the park has a good 5-6" opening at the bottom (in many areas) and my dog scooted out and I ran and caught her just in time to grab a leg. There is a busy street on one side of the park so I was very stressed if she went near the fence. I don't think this park was built for little ones in mind:( read more

BEWARE IF YOU HAVE A SMALL, ACTIVE DOG! The park and facilities are very nice since they upgraded it in the last year-tennis courts, playground for kids, baseball field and a walking loop. There is a nice, shaded gazebo with benches and a secure, fenced in area for the dogs We live in the neighborhood and were anxious to take our new adopted Chipin to this park. We have been 3 times and each time the same thing happened. There are several large, "regular" dogs who are out of control and their owners don't watch them. Our small dog wants to run and chase her ball, but these bigger dogs ganged up in a pack chasing her at full speed. It became obvious to us this was not playful when she finally ran to us and jumped up for us to pick her up. When we did, three of the large dogs were jumping up on us to get to her. Where were the owners? No where to be found. I see some small dogs hanging out in the gazebo area having fun, but our dog running fast seemed to be a trigger for the big dogs. Big dogs seem to love it as long as they can rule the place. It was extremely disappointing that the owners did not take responsibility for their dogs' behavior. We felt threatened and won't be back. read more

I absolutely loved this dog park! I did happen to go on one of the most gorgeous days, but it was still a great place to bring my pup. It wasn't overly packed, but there were a good amount of dogs there of all sizes so my dog could socialize and play around. Mine is about 15lbs. and he was able to play with big and small dogs without there being any problems. The majority of the owners were attentive of their dogs and friendly. They had water bowls that you could refill at the water fountain for the dogs. The covered kazeebo was nice for those that wanted to sit down for a while as well. It's kind of just a big area of dirt, which I don't mind because I have to wash my dog anyway (he's white so anything is noticeable). For those that want all grass at their dog parks then this one isn't for you. I was told that a couple of days after it rains is the best because the dirt is a little softer, and in the heat of the summer it's just like dust. The other areas of the park were very well kept, and family oriented. I will definitely be bringing my dog back here to play! read more

We usually walk our two puddles in this place, since it is just right next to our home. The park is not that big but it has anything you need. I have a 75 lb dog who loves to run around - and this place gives him more than enough room to. There's a mix of grass and dirt around and plenty of room to run around. I do have a few comments though: - When it rains, there's a huge mud puddle that forms. My dog LOVES jumping into it, which wouldn't be a problem except... - There is no hose or area to rinse the dogs off before you leave! (Also, a hose would make filling up water bowls and rinsing them out much easier than trying to do it in the drinking fountain!) - There are no trash cans IN the park - you have to go outside (the trash cans are around on the outside). - There are no trash bags in case you forget yours! For the most part, the people are relatively nice. Most people tend to be attentive towards their dogs, though I have had an instance or two with a dog that gets a little aggressive during pray (and snaps when you try to separate them). I've also had issues with people who get upset when their dog gets dirty, but I think that's more of a personal thing. My general view is that if you're in a dog park, your dog is going to get dirty! All in all, I definitely like the place - it's close to my house and there's usually a few dogs around to play with, so it tires my boy out quickly. read more

I don't know where the others are in writing it's so great... Could be nice. There was dog poo EVERYWHERE in the grass and most of the area is dirt and big mud hole. The worse part for me was that my chi could fit under the fence. I caught her just in time! That's just a no-go for me! People were sitting on one end of the park and their large dogs were running loose on the other, scaring me and chihuahua to death! I'll have to look elsewhere so she doesn't get under the fence! read more
