Personable, fair, excellent service and helpful people. We had an issue with the tiller we rented when one of the tines fell off, and their guy came over quick with the parts to fix it. He also picked up the equipment for us when we were done, and gave us a demonstration on how to use it when we first got it. They are super understaffed, the machines often break, and overall it's quite a chaotic experience renting from them. They tried to send me down the road with a machine not tied down to a trailer and just asked that I drive slowly.... I don't know how they are still in business! read more

I rented a pressure washer for 24 hrs. (WAY less expensive than Home Depot) and the customer service was excellent! An employee even walked over to my house (3 blocks) when I couldn't get the thing started (my error) and was so kind about my rookie mistake. I will use Lewis Rents again and again. do not rent from these guys. They rented a pressure washer to me and the pool cord broke on it on the first pool once I got it onto the job. I told them about this. They were supposed to send someone out to fix it. They never sent someone out to fix it and then they were supposed to send someone out to pick it up and they never sent someone out to pick it. Now I am getting from collection companies for $1000 for a pressure washer that is only worth $300. The owner is an absolute ass hat that is very rude to his customers and they will never see a dime out of me because they rent garbage. This isn't the only time I have gotten garbage equipment from them. Half of their stuff doesn't work and then when they say they are going to send someone out to come fix it no one ever shows up read more

Really great independent spot! They saved my skin when another local place down the road left me hanging after not honoring a reservation. They didn't have an auger attachment for the skid steer I rented but promised to call me as soon as it was back and totally did later that day! Equipment rentals are priced well, and you can tell they maintain their stuff. Helpful staff when loading and very informative on features of what you are renting. They are now my go-to for equipment and tool rentals in the Portland area! read more

The equipment is as advertised. The customer experience is terrible. For starters, we were quoted a weekly rate on a material lift that ended up being more than 2x the quoted rate. There was no written record of the initial phone call at the office, but the staff remembered the call and all details. All transactions are done in person, as I now realize, to avoid having written quotes. Upon arriving to arrange the pickup, I was told the delivery fee would be extra. No problem, I understand that. I stated I had an ability to return the lift myself at the end of the rental period and was told the delivery fee included return and advised NOT to return it myself. Come time to settle up, I was charged a delivery fee both ways with the explanation "it takes time to do, so we have to charge." The delivery itself was several hours late, resulting in hourly help to have to stay longer. When the pickup was requested, I was told they were too busy to pickup that day, even though the lift had already been picked up at the time of the phone call (I was away from home and it was collected earlier in the day). No one is on the same page here. No solution or even acknowledgement was offered. Simply "oh, yeah, that's what we charge." This equipment can be rented anywhere. Avoid the deceptive practices and rent from a more honest company. read more

Well, I haven't even picked up my rental yet, but I just wanted to say how great Lewis Rents has already been. I am not very 'handy' but have taken on the project of refinishing an old fir floor. The gentleman who took my call spent a great deal of time with me on the phone giving me lots of advice and recommendations. He was very encouraging on my project and made me feel like I wasn't in over my head. I really appreciate it when someone who is knowledgeable is available and also willing to take the time to answer questions and be helpful and supportive. So far, so good! read more

Do not use these incompetent scam artists. I've worked with them multiple times over the last couple years as the PM for my employer, they are consistently disorganized when picking up and dropping off machines, they have loaded trailers with flat tires on me, 50% of the heavy equipment I've gotten onsite has malfunctioned causing work delays. I had discontinued working with them until I needed a 5 yard dump truck and didn't want to pay the price at United..... Once again an hour and a half to load an excavator and trailer on a dump truck, excavator broke down mid day, than they brought out a new machine with a code start (no key) didn't give me a key to open the gas cap on the machine, meaning we couldn't refuel, than told us we could drive it around the corner to refuel upon return or pay them their $5 a gal for diesel. HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL, we are a business it costs us money for staff to run around town and fuel your equipment that you fail to supply us with a key for. It costs us money to stand around for you to get organized and it costs us money while your machine breaks down. None the less I paid them for the fuel, knowing they wouldn't get another penny of business from my employer, and hopefully anyone who ever asks me for a reference for a rental place. FYI, had Lewis Rents offered to charge me for the fuel what it cost at the corner, they wouldn't have a bad review, and they wouldn't have indefinitely lost me as a customer, I understand mistakes happen, you don't gouge your customer for your mistakes though! read more

The item I rented today did not work properly. I mentioned this to Victor when I returned it. He was frustrated by the piece of equipment and explained that he had had so much trouble with this particular item he was going to stop offering it. He then very kindly voided the charge. This is the way to run a business: take care of the customer who has a valid complaint. I've rented many things from Lewis Rents in the past, and will continue to do so. In short - these nice, patient people went above and beyond to charge me less money. Highly recommend. The story - I'm working on my house and I've never rented a tool before. I called to rent a table saw (spoiler: I still have all my fingers!!!) and I think the guy could tell I was relatively new to this. He asked about my project to make sure I was renting the right thing and didn't assume I knew the lingo (He didn't say "rip" or "cross-cut," he said, "Do you want to cut the wood long ways or short ways?"). He asked questions I had forgotten to ask (I had my own blade I wanted to use), which absolutely saved me money, and I'll tell you why. When I rented the saw the (different) guy who went to get it took off their blade, using a weird size socket wrench (23mm) that I didn't have. He asked me if I had that socket, I said no and he gave me the wrench to take with the table, no charge. What if I had gotten home with the saw, didn't have the socket, didn't know what socket to get?? Googling, measuring, going to the hardware store, etc. Because I was ready to rock I had rented the saw for a day but returned it in 4 hours, and they were happy to charge me the 4 hour rate. read more

My husband and I went in there to rent a power washer. The workers were extremely helpful. We had NO IDEA of how to work a power washer. He walked us through the set up and the different tips to use on the hose. We went home, and everything he had said was right and we rocked out a deep clean on our house and driveway for 28 bucks! We've rented several different items from Lewis Rentals and each time we're disappointed with the equipment that isn't sharp or ready to use. When we come back to tell the customer service people about the equipment not really ready to use they say, "Oh well, you should have stopped and called us so we could come out and fix it." Okay, so last week we did just that when we rented a chipper for brush in our yard. Chipper was dull, called and they said, "bring it back and we'll sharpen it". I asked if that is part of our rental time and they said, "yes". We brought it back and then went back to the tree service we used before to chip up our brush. Well i just paid Twice the rental amount for a tool because they made me pay for a BRAND NEW blade for a saw that was used in the normal way for what the tool is made for. There was nothing ever said to me that if any teeth go missing due to normal use, you have to pay for a re[placement.blade. Isn't there always wear and tear on rentals??? And blades always have to be replaced. Even the employee checking it out to me looked at and the blade and was amazed all the teeth were there for once!!! Glad you could rape me for a new blade that you'll make lots of money with. Complete, utter BS. I will NEVER...EVER rent here again. And make sure the company I work never does either. I kicked off this spring, by renting a pressure washer from Lewis Rents. I described to Kymberleigh what I wanted to accomplish, and the sized of my front driveway and back patio. She was extremely helpful, and knowledgeable and was able to find the right pressure washer for the job. Because of the excellent service I received from all employees at Lewis Rents I will continue to rent equipment from them for future jobs, and I highly recommend that others do the same. read more

I rented a floor sander from them that was completely out of alignment. When I confronted them about it they checked it out and lied and said it was fine. I even took pictures with my phone to show that it two pads of the four were not even engaging the floor. I then went to the Ace Hardware rental and got the same machine (a U-Sander) and it worked perfectly. Moral of the story: Don't trust Lewis Rents. They are liars and they don't take care of their equipment. read more

Make sure you get all the information from the staff about what may be required from you the renter. I was intending to rent a trailer to haul some lumber. I was not told that there was a requirement of having a 3/4 ton truck. I went to get the trailer and made my credit card deposit. I was then told they would not release the trailer to me. I was going to have to wait for 4 days to get the credit card refunded as well. When I called the business office to find out if they could expedite the refund, I told my story about what had occurred. The woman I spoke to was condescending and told me that she had never heard of anyone trying to rent a trailer with a truck that was not 3/4 ton. I am fully aware of the load restrictions for my vehicle. I have an electric trailer brake assembly as well as a towing package on my truck. The factory rates the combo of truck and max load trailer at 14,500 lbs. The intended load was well under the max capacity of truck and trailer. Due to the lack of communication from Lewis Bros. I lost $2600 in sales and delivery fees to another vendor. Thanks Lewis Bros. I will never do business with you again. I will never recommend you to a client (I own a lumber yard as well as a contracting business.... I know people). I will steer people from your business to another company. Worst customer service experience in many years. Woman in business office is a real peach!! read more

Ok. Twice now I should have known better. My customer insisted on me renting from Lewis. I knew going into it this time so I deposited enough in my account to let them swipe an authorization for 500.00 and for the second time they cashed out using a new charge whereby pushing the card over-limit and accruing over-limit fees. Meanwhile the authorization sits there as a charge. This is some pretty basic stuff guys. Charge against the original authorization you get your money and I get use of my money that you didn't use. I have my own credit card processing for my businesses as does my wife. WE know how this works. So now i have to wait for it all to wash out in my account. Maybe days before I can call the bank and try to get the fees reversed. If they had only used the original authorization number none of this would have happened. Other than this they are great but this situation kills it for me. I cannot afford to call them or do any business again. I am done. read more
