The food shack.. Exudes fun and yum.

Fun local institution. A must visit when in South Topsail Island. Huge packed seafood tacos, bowls, sandwiches. With Fresh Catch of The Day/s. Permanently situated food truck adjacent to local seafood market (permanent building). Friendly staff and also can overhear local based conversations of friends / neighbors. And also accomodates tourist like me.

WOW!! Fantastic all around- the food is worthy of 10 stars at least, and the service from Celeste, Mike, Randy, and the whole crew really makes you feel at home. Had grouper sandwiches, both fried and grilled, which were absolutely phenomenal & the shrimp taco was the biggest and freshest we've EVER had. Best views, cute and quaint.

I certainly love good food I am truly disappointed these days everything I eat gets one maybe two 2 or three 3 bites then I throw it in my Trash Can. At the end of each week my ice cold box is filled with half eaten meals I live alone if I do cook ‍ o throw it away as well

I spent the weekend at Topsail Beach with my wife and came upon this little place. I ended up purchasing a pound of shrimp and a bag of good-sized scallops, along with some Cajun seasoning. Cooked them both up for dinner on our last night. But wait; there's more to this place. Outside is a food trailer with a lovely menu. I got the Grouper taco (it's really burrito sized) and the Seafood stew. The Grouper was grilled and seasoned to perfection and the Seafood stew (tomato based) was full of all good things from the ocean. These two places are a must visit when you're in Topsail. Everything is reasonably priced and I'll be stopping by when I'm nearby! Well done!

Oh my goodness - so fresh and yummy! This is our first time on Topsail Island and first time at Lewis Seafood Shack. It is a food truck set up right off the sound, and the fish and seafood are as fresh as can be. We walked through the seafood store to the back pier and watched a fisherman clean today's catch! They call the meal a "taco", but it's really more the size of a smaller burrito. I ordered the Mahi Mahi, and it was the perfect size for a nice lunch. My husband ordered the shrimp taco, and it was fantastic as well! Prices are fair, at about $10-$12 for the "giant tacos." They also offer delicious burgers if you have a non seafood eating friend (or kid) along with you. The staff was friendly and pleasant - I really have no complaints. I'm already looking forward to my next trip, because I will definitely be back!

First time visiting. I've never had a taco like this before- Baja style. The cotija cheese and sauce on it made it sooo extra good. I loved it! Super messy to eat I wasn't sure the best way to do it but it was great! You can call ahead to pick up and it's cash only. I would call ahead next time though the wait wasn't bad but there came a large group after us as it's seems to be very popular. I would come here again when visiting this area.

First time here, will be back! I got the red snapper baja taco. Delicious! It was large, filling and flavorful. Probably the best taco I've had. Cash only. We waited about fifteen minutes. Worth it!

Outdoor seating (no…read moreindoors) and weathered wood lends authenticity to the Surf City vibe, but then one also needs to contend with the birds and heat (minus the ocean breeze). We drove here with friends from Jacksonville (NC) and experienced the food and service and, afterwards said we'd definitely return here. Why? Tacos. We ordered four - Tuna, Shrimp, Chicken, and Veggie- all on a soft corn tortilla. Each one packed a mouthful of flavor combinations that were distinct and memorable. My blackened and seared tuna took a different turn with the bacon, yet it melded well with the cabbage and the spicy mayo. My favorite - the blackened and grilled Shrimp taco - included Asian slaw and sweet chili sauce that complimented the char. Our friends ordered the seafood nachos which frankly looked liked the shrimp and other seafood were overwhelming the chips! If I had been hungrier, I would have ordered this monster! Soft drinks (Coke products), adult beverages, and "Sweet Treats" are also available. The bathrooms are inside the surf shop. Paid parking is right next to the store. (If a song could be adapted for this review, it would start, "Shaka, Shaka, Shaka, Shaka Tacos)

No issue with the wait and the servers and staff were working hard and kind. That said, the prices were high for what you got and not having cups for water increased the dissatisfaction. We did enjoy the chips and the red salsa was good however our meals outside that were fairly flavorless. Pretty sure the only thing that was raved about was the Sangria Slush. I'm a fan of doing something and doing it well but not so sure outside the slush or the shrimp taco what the signature dish is here but it wasn't the specials, the seafood nachos, the beef, ahi tuna tacos.

This place is an absolute legend, a classic coastal roost that's been serving the beach community since the days when shorts were shorter and the hair was bigger. It's got that beautifully weathered, no-frills, old-school charm--clean as a whistle but entirely unpretentious, like a well-loved coastal nest. Step inside the massive indoor dining room, a sprawling, wood-paneled 'coop' with plenty of room for the whole flock to spread their wings. If you prefer the wind in your feathers, wander out to the open-air patio. It's a lively deck perched right over the water where you can shake a tail feather, listen to the acoustic guitar strumming, and mingle with the locals. Hold onto your tail feathers, because the biggest news on the boardwalk is officially in: the patio bar has got its liquor license. They do have a "No-Frills" Pork Chop: This isn't a fancy, thick-cut artisanal chop topped with mango-habanero chutney. No, this is a classic pork chop that looks like it was grilled by a grumpy uncle who has been staring at the same flattop griddle for thirty years. Sitting right next to the chop is a baked potato wrapped in a sheet of crinkly aluminum foil that is hot enough to melt glass. But don't bother looking around your plate for a pat of butter, just a small scoop of sour cream. You'll quickly realize this potato could have easily used another ten or fifteen minutes in the oven. It is the absolute definition of a no-nonsense joint. Cheers!

We were told it was a 20 minute wait so we opted to sit outside immediately. The patio is very nice, I much prefer it over the inside. We got the calamari and crab dip for appetizers. Both were alright, the crab dip was better in my opinion. The calamari was underdone. For my main I got the fried shrimp that comes with coleslaw and fries. It was just okay, nothing to write home about. The coleslaw is sweet which isn't my favorite. Overall, the food is fine. Nothing stood out this time around but hopefully we can find a better dish next time we go.
