I was with three children in Bakersfield and waited 5 hrs for a three mile tow. It was 107 degrees fereheight outside. Lewis Towing kept giving me new time of arrival instead of saying they were unable to tow or tell me the truth about the arrival time. This was a dangerous situation for my family. Lewis Towing 2...... I had two vehicle's towed. Both vehicle's were towed from one location going to the same destination. Thru AAA i had 7 miles free, and AAA told me it was 10 miles to my destination. when the 1st driver showed up he said it was going to be 12 miles, so he OVER charged me 2 miles, an extra $18.00. Someone rode with him in the truck to the destination, instead of taking Stockdale Hwy he went all the way up to Rosedale Hwy (we were closet to stockdale hwy) he went way out of the way. The 2nd tow i asked AAA and they said that they are supposed to go AAA route if they choose not to then they shouldn't charge extra. The 2nd tow only charged me 10 miles.. this towing company is a bunch of crooks. they had a car drop from a tow and hit my car. It took me 8 weeks to get it resolved and not to my liking. they disregarded any estimate it brought from a reputable company and sent me to a friend of theirs which was a scary experience on it own. how this place stays in business is a wonder they are terrible customer service. reporting them to better business bureau. had to give one star to rate them but they should not even have that read more

Absolutely horrible the week before Christmas I was driving to work on the 58th and one of the tow truck guys literally swerved cut me off and then I pulled up by him and he started laughing at me I called the number on the back of the towing company they were absolutely rude had no consideration obviously don't care about their drivers they said a manager would call me here we are two weeks later and still no phone call at least a sorry very unprofessional I wouldn't never use them especially if that they have employees that way you would think that he would have wavelike sorry something instead of laughing and he literally was speeding so I wouldn't catch up but I just got the number down and it was I believe his drivers 16 who ever drove it on that Saturday morning and it was still raining I don't know why somebody would act that way especially on the freeway and especially it being slippery but I never got a phone call to explain how sorry they were anything it literally like scared me so I may have not had an experience with him by telling my car or anything but just being on the freeway with somebody driving like that is ridiculous and I would never ever about to use them as a towing company very unprofessional, the only reason they are getting a star is because I have to give it to in order to post but I wouldn't rate them anything read more

A few months back, we were coming home from vacation, and stopped for gas. When I came out to start the van, it wouldn't turn over. Tried everything I could think of. Checked battery,etc. Nothing. Called AAA and they referred me to Louie's towing. They sent Dave out, and after a few minutes he figured out that I just needed to press the brake once to reset the van's computer which would allow me to then start the van. It was midnight, my wife and kid were asleep, and I was very tired. He made my night by saying he wouldn't charge me. I gave him a tip anyway. Saturday night around 752pm I had hit a pot hole on coffee road and snow road. Damaging my tire and rim. I called AAA about 755pm and asked for a tow for my truck. they told me it would be about 45 mins to get there. The driver Kersa called me at 821pm and told me he would be there within 15-20 mins he didnt show up until almost 35 mins after he called me. When he showed up he was not in a flat bed truck which is was asked for when you have a truck they brought the small tow. The guy in the first place acted like he didnt want to tow it and walked around my truck and then got in his truck and told me that he cant tow it. I said well I could have told you its a truck his company should have sent out a flat bed. he stated that he was going to call his dispatcher and have them bring out a flat. 10 mins later he states that a flat bed truck will be here in 40-45 mins. I said I have to wait another 45 mins he said yay and he drove off. we waited there for almost an hour never recieved a call from a driver that he was on way or anything. I ended up calling Lewis Towing back because thats who came and the lady dispatcher by the name of Leslie states that my insurance wouldnt cover my town because it was on hydrolics. I said there is no hydrolics on my truck its a stock truck. The driver Kersa told her that it was on hydrolics because of how low it was. So instead of calling and telling me that they werent sending out a flat bed truck there were just going to let me sit out there all night expecting truck that was not coming. Ending up calling AAA out they ended up sending out Cal State towing. the driver eddie did an Amazing job and towed my truck with no issues as there is no hydolics on my trucks. I would highly recommend to not use this company as their employees are lazy, and report false information to your insurance. read more

Super friendly guy came to help change my tire on my Ford Ranger when my car didn't have any tools. He was the only one who could help me and he got here as fast as he could! He helped calm me down by making jokes and talking me through the process! He got me back on the road and didn't make me feel like a fool. Lewis Towing sets the bar for great customer service. My wife and I were caught in the 10/16/15 flood on SR 58 and looked like we needed towing. We contacted Angela at Lewis and she advised that because of all the stranded trucks/cars, that the CHP had corralled all towing trucks in the area. We were now having to spend the night in Tehachapi. Angela asked if there was anything else she could help us with and we explained our plight. She offered to try to find a hotel room in Tehachapi and would get back to us. 10 minutes later Angela called back and had found and reserved a room for us! The next time I'm in the Bakersfield/Tehachapi area, I almost hope we break down so I can use the great service which Lewis Towing provides. read more

I went thru AAA to get a tow truck. After turning two other tow trucks away I finely got one with an operator that knew how to take care of my baby. His expertise showed right away. He knew how to unlock the rear wheels of my Corvette and use blocking to role it up onto his truck without damage to anything. Same with the unloading at the Chevrolet dealer. This business does not even deserve one star. I had to select one star to write the review. LEWIS TOWING = UNFAIR. UNREASONABLE. PREDATORY. ENTRAPMENT. NOT CONSUMER FRIENDLY. I went into a small neighborhood store in northeast Bakersfield on a Sunday afternoon, Mother's Day, and parked in a parking lot right next to the market. The lot is not owned by the market; and yes, there was a sign that said "No Parking", as the lot is reportedly owned by another individual. Do not know who that individual is and there is no business besides the market anywhere near the lot. There is only a vacant, unmarked building. I was in the store for 3 or 4 minutes. By the time that I came out of the store, my car was hooked up to a LEWIS TOWING tow truck. There was also another LEWIS TOWING tow truck right across the street, and two big, muscular drivers standing by my car. It felt extremely creepy; and I felt really intimidated with these two big drivers standing there. I attempted to reason with one of the drivers, "Michael B. W". I asked if he would please take my car down off of the tow truck. I explained that I was only in the store for a couple of minutes, my car was not blocking anyone or anything, and I would move it immediately. I was told that my car would not be taken off of the truck until I paid $130- CASH!! I explained that I did not have cash in that amount. I was told to go into the store and get the cash from the ATM, or my car would be towed away and that it would then cost me three times that much money to get my car back. By that point I was angry, and felt as if I was being bullied and taken advantage of. I had no choice but to go in and get the cash and pay them the money. I felt compelled to express my anger, which I did. I did get my car back. I don't feel that being in a store for 4 minutes to buy 2 energy drinks should cost anyone $130. I was wrong apparently, because when I called LEWIS TOWING to discuss this with the manager. "Jimmy", I was told that LEWIS TOWING has a contract with the individual that owns the lot, and that the tow truck drivers have the right to tow any vehicle they see in that parking lot anytime, regardless of whether they get a call or not from the owner asking them to tow a vehicle from the lot. He told me that he could not say or do anything about my complaint. He did not say he understood my frustration, or acknowledge any inconvenience this may have caused. This was an expensive (and unnecessary) lesson to learn: LEWIS TOW TRUCK DRIVERS have a lot of power. LEWIS TOWING seems to work with businesses first, not consumers, or average people needing vehicle help. They have no integrity and no professionalism. My opinion may not mean anything, to anybody. But I will NEVER use this business and will share this awful experience with anyone who will listen. read more
