Well, today ended with the installation of the last of 6 dental implants and additional separate non-implant crown installs I undertook at Dr. Gatti's dental office, Lexington Smile Studio about a year ago. Owing to the extensive nature of 60+ years of hard use, my teeth were worn out and in desperate need of repair and/or replacement, so it took quite a while, mostly due to the number of procedures needed but more importantly, the recovery time between the procedures, but in the end, it was absolutely worth it. It was remarkable to see the entire process from start to finish at Lexington Smile Studio and I couldn't help but marvel at what is possible with the modern dental technology they use at their office. As I mentioned in my prior reviews, Dr. Gatti, and the the rest of the staff helped me by providing consistently high quality dental care during the entire process. The one thing I learned about Dr. Gatti is that he's an absolute perfectionist, almost to a fault. Towards the end of my treatments when the crowns were being installed into the titanium implants he initially placed, he was rarely satisfied with the final fit with the adjacent teeth unless the fit was absolutely, positively perfect in every way. Most of the crowns went back for additional customization before they were deemed good enough for the final installation. In my desperation to eat really solid foods again I asked him why they implants had to keep going back to the artist/dental technician for further refinement when they seemed OK to me, so I asked him why it was necessary to keep sending them back and he smiled and said "Michael, I owe you nothing but our very best work" or words to that effect, and of course that made sense and those words were very reassuring. I have been to many dentists over the years who put crowns in for me and not one of them ever took the time to make sure there was a perfect fit with the adjacent teeth, thus causing food impaction over the years, which lead to further decay. It was quite remarkable to see the process, and of course, the final product is gorgeous and I couldn't be more pleased. A little bit about the staff at the office...Brianna his senior dental technician is a marvelous and compassionate caregiver and while she might not realize it, helped me get through some of the tough procedures including extractions and implant placements. While she is technically very competent, it was her great personality that helped me get through a couple of tough procedures. I had Rosie for one or two of the procedures, and she was likewise a marvelous technician. I am also very grateful for Marianne, the office manager who helped make the whole process possible with her flexible financial guidance. Being a registered nurse, I'm not a wealthy man, but she was cognizant of that, and made the whole thing possible by working with my dental insurance and being flexible with me by setting up a payment plan that made it possible to receive the great care I experienced. She was just great, especially when it came to understanding the billing, which can be a bit overwhelming. Of course, the ladies at the front desk, Erika and Elizabeth, were unfailingly kind and courteous whenever I had to manage scheduling multiple appointments, etc. Finally, the technician who actually made my crowns I came to learn is a master at his craft. A Japanese gentleman named Yuki Momma who I never met, but has an online presence and known all over the world for his work and the seminars he gives to young technicians. I viewed some of his online instructional video's that demonstrated how he crafts crowns that fit perfectly and are beautifully reproduced to mimic real teeth. Wow, the crowns he made for me look as realistic as the natural ones I used to have when I was a younger man, and so I feel privileged to carry his exceptional work everywhere I go. Finally, with as many appointments as I had, I feel as though I've gotten to know everyone in the office fairly well, and that's been a special treat. The team there provided a personalized experience, always making me feel right at home and #1 while in their office. I'm pretty sure most folks don't enjoy going to the dentist to get work done, but if you MUST have work done, this fine office is just the place to go. In closing, as my major restoration work came to an end yesterday, I can, without reservation, recommend the practice to anyone who asks. My personal experience over the years has shown that I don't think you can do better than by going to Dr. Gatti at Lexington Smile Studio for any sort of dental procedures, large or small. Extremely friendly front office staff; practitioners and their assistants exude competence and professionalism. Dr. Gotti rescued my mouth after a franchise practice placed too few implants to support a full lower prosthesis I needed. and Dr. Will successfully placed bone grafts to enable them to place 6 upper implants. I was referred to Lexington Smile by my lactation consultant after she noticed that my son had a tongue tie. During the consultation Dr. McElligott found that he also had a lip tie and recommended that we get both corrected. The entire process was explained in great detail to my husband and I and we felt at ease with the procedure. After the procedure was finished, Dr. McElligott demonstrated the stretches that we would need to do multiple times a day and took the time to answer all of my questions. The night of the procedure Dr. McElligott texted me to make sure that everything was going alright, which I really appreciated. We just had our follow up appointment and everything is healing the way that it should be. Dr. Mario Gatti and Dr. John Govostes have provided me with top quality care, together, consulting and planning my procedures, step by step, making sure I was aware of every single procedure, the healing process, and when I would be ready to move on to the next procedure. Just wanted to drop a note that alot of reviews and information on this dental studio refer back to when Dr Rosenberg owned the place. Her focus was on family dentistry. When Dr Gotti took over, the focus has changed to cosmetic dentistry. Dr Gotti has improved the look and equipment at this office signifigantly, so that was a welcome change. But if you are here just for regular dentistry, it might not be your best option. I only had one bad expirence when the transition was happening with a "fill in" dentist who gave me a very hastily done filling that Dr Gotti had to remove and "re-do". Otherwise its a great place, though expect alot of questions about if you want cosmetic dentistry done. read more

I have a 2 year old that was diagnosed with the MTHFR mutation. Come to find out, almost 50% of ppl have this mutation. Lip and tongue ties are very common with this. Fawn was EXTREMELY nice. She took the time to show, explain, and ask me everything. The laser was so quick, she was done in 8 minutes with 3 ties she had to fix. Her office was filled with little babies having the same procedure or there for a post opp visit. Everyone had nothing but positive things to say about their experience here. I would recommend giving ANYONE having this procedure, "arnica Monica" for 3 days before and 3 days after. It's amazing for these types of things. It's all natural. Look it up. She even offered a tomato plant for our garden and a balloon after we were done. She also gave me her cell phone # in case I had an emergency for after hours. A++ in my book! read more

Dr. Gatti's response is irrelevant. Smile Studio never care for the patients. If they care for the patients, they haven' t normalized the situation in his response. Nobody informed my son to hold an X-ray apparatus with his teeth. She put the reflector to his mouth and didn't check. Technician supposed to be sure it had been held correctly by the patient before the radiation but I watched her, she didn't. She took the second x-ray with the same careless attitude and failed. She tried to take another x-ray again. I stopped her. I agree with the doctor, it is not safe. However, his technician doesn't care about it. When I stopped her, she complained about me to the doctor and then, the doctor stopped her. Another technician checked my son's mouth and she told us they need a smaller size reflector. So, they don't have the apparatus for kids. Why did they try it for two times? Why did they accept my son as a patient if they don't have the proper apparatus? Because of this technician, my son's teeth will be taken after 6 months. (Other dentists need to see the teeth root before the application. So, we have to wait for 6 months.) The teeth roots may be merge in 6 months and my son possibly will need surgery. Also, surprisingly they have 2 very good comments after my comment. It is very abnormal after years they have 2 good comments after ı wrote my experience. I am expecting the technicians apologize and explanation like she didn't care because...., instead of​ the doctor. The doctor has kids but this is irrelevant about the situation. The professional field does not concede the perception using irrelevant emotional aspects. read more

Cant say enough great things about Fawn Rosenberg and her staff! I went there for a consult for a tongue tie for my 3 week old and she discovered a tongue and upper lip tie. She was able to do the procedure that day and very quickly. Dr. Rosenberg was kind and very thorough in her explanation of things and has a great bedside manner for babies and their parents! My child had a tongue and lip tie procedure with Dr. Rosenberg at 5 days old. I realized in the hospital that he was having an exceedingly difficult time latching when we were trying to breastfeed. After I asked specifically about tongue and lip ties....The hospital lactation consultant (LC), Hope Kellerman took a look at his tongue and said he definitely has a tongue tie. We consulted ENT in hospital, but due to the location (posterior) the ENT did not feel comfortable cutting it without anesthesia....and obviously i wasn't going to put my newborn precious baby under anesthesia! Hope recommended speaking with my pediatrician, Dr. Sackton, and then gave me information about Dr. Rosenberg. Dr. Sackton saw my baby at 4 days and recommended seeing Dr. Rosenberg as soon as possible. Breastfeeding was such a struggle, and my baby had lost over a pound since birth. Dr. Roseberg was able to see us the next day and did the procedure on the spot. Before I continue, pricing. The receptionist when I called informed me that each procedure would be $725 (lip + tongue = $1450). (We aren't super rich, so I always need to know what pricing is). We were quickly seen, I think because we had a newborn with us, and within 30 minutes my baby had his procedure done. Dr. Rosenberg used a CO2 laser to remove both a posterior tongue tie and an upper lip tie. Given the price tag and the fact that as a new first time mom I am very very protective of my little baby, I was hesitant to consent to the procedure, but now we are one week out and I feel I would almost definitely do it again. So you know what I was seeing in my baby: first of all he would not latch. We were the only couplet in mother baby at the time of my delivery and hospitalization, so we had the undivided attention of the LC. My mom said he was doing exactly what I would do, and what ultimately caused her to quickly quit breastfeeding me. He would shake his head, wasn't latching despite efforts of the LC, would start sucking and then push himself off and start screaming. I also noticed that his mouth and lips were SUPER dry. Apparently his tongue tie was so tight that he couldn't get to his salivary glands. He was at this time receiving adequate formula feeding and peeing and pooping as he should, but his mouth was bone dry. The post procedure care is to do gum exercises every 4-5 hours in order to prevent reattachment. This is very easy for us given I'm a nurse and I'm on maternity leave, but would definitely be difficult if you had an older child and needed a daycare provider to do these exercises. This may be something to discuss with your daycare provider prior to having the procedure done. I also know that the procedure carried very little pain and discomfort due to my baby's age at the time. IMPORTANT: This was NOT a miracle fix. Breastfeeding has been has been difficult, at times it felt impossible. Breastfeeding has been painful. My nipples are still cracked and bleeding, BUT they're getting better. Baby has to relearn how to feed and how to suck, so it takes practice and patience. I can however, say that my baby is now latching without the nipple shield. It's still not instant and requires patience. Feedings can take 40-60 mins and feeding every 2 hours is HARD. It is such incredibly hard work. I would suggest that you not go into this procedure expecting a miracle. Overall this has been a very positive experience for us (at least one week in...), and my husband and I feel we made the absolute right choice for our family. Oh bonus, Dr. Rosenberg called the night of the procedure to follow up with us and see how our little guy was doing. We did have an issue getting him to take a bottle immediately post procedure, but after giving him one bottle with a faster nipple flow, he went back to taking bottles with minimal issue. I thought that follow up was pretty nice. read more

Been going to Dr Rosenberg's dental practice for 2-3 years. From the dental point of view awesome staff, but front office is awful. Just returned from an appointment, scheduled for 3-4 months and after 20 min waiting, finally got someone to acknowledge my presence after I was standing grumpy at front desk. I had to provide new insurance card.... While I was waiting receptionist was on the phone, helping other patients, checking out, and for a long time, out of sight. Only when a dental hygienist asked me is I was all set, was that they realized I was not happy. They lied to my face, said thy had asked me to wait. It happen to be that the same dental hygienist hat acknowledged me, was the one that would be the one working in my mouth. She had been available for quite a while... Every time I have an appointment they call me day prior telling me that for x or y they need to ask me to change the schedule. I think they have too many patients and do great, but they cannot handle the admin part of it which sucks cause our time, as patients should be valued. I'm tired of our communities giving so much respect to Healthcare professionals that have become arrogant, expensive, and do not value our time. How come this is the most capitalist country in the world and every time to enter to a medical doctor you never know how much you are even going to pay. Both of my sons were born with tongue & lip ties that we were advised to have fixed as soon as possible - we did my older son's at two weeks, and my younger son at one week. Trying to navigate all of this the first time around as a new, sleep-deprived, hormonal mom was super stressful, and Dr Rosenberg made us feel really comfortable. She explained the procedure thoroughly, let us know what to expect, and I could tell that she really cared about us & our baby. She even called after hours the day of the procedure to make sure that everything was going smoothly, and gave us her cell phone number in case we had any questions/concerns. With baby #2, as soon as our pediatrician pointed out the ties, we called Dr Rosenberg based on the great experience we had the first time around. Dr. Fawn Rosenberg has a nice set-up here. It's a cozy office, she has helpful staff, and her down-to-earth "chair side" manner is always caring, patient and friendly. Her knowledge and expertise are also comforting. On a couple of occasions when I had something done that might cause some discomfort later (i.e., after I had left the office to go on with my day or go home), Dr. Rosenberg called personally to see how I was doing. That's the kind of personal touch you just don't see much of these days. I've been a patient since '09 and don't have a single complaint. Easy parking, too. P.S. My husband and I brought our newborn son to see Dr Rosenberg after we learned he was lip and tongue tied. Being a new mom and hormonal I was nervous about the procedure that had to be done to remove the lip and tongue tie issue via laser. Dr. Rosenberg was very patient and explained everything to my husband and I clearly. The procedure took all of 5 minutes max, and since then my son has been breastfeeding so much better now. Everyone in this office is simply stellar! It's so refreshing to visit a medical establishment where the staff is kind, warm, and reassuring. Every visit has more than exceeded my expectations. The office manager and hygienists are excellent and efficient. You're always greeted warmly upon your arrival and I've never left without a smile on my face. Both our children had lip and tongue ties (MTHFR gene mutations) One was barely able to breastfeed before having the ties treated. Thanks to Dr. Rosenberg our breastfeeding relationship was saved and we were able to nurse successfully after 7 weeks of various specialists being unable to solve our problem. We saw lactation consultants, pediatricians, ENTs and other dentists. Posterior ties are hard to see and typically go undiagnosed but can really impact feeding, especially breastfeeding. Grateful to have met Dr. Rosenberg. Great experience. read more

We were recommended to Dr. Rosenberg by our lactation consultant, who noticed our daughter had a tongue and a lip tie at 4 days old. I was able to get an appointment quickly, and the procedure was done at 10 days of age. Before the procedure our daughter had dropped 6% of her birth weight and was having a difficult time feeding. Within 2 days of the procedure, she gained 7 ounces (finally above her birth weight), was feeding more efficiently and to her satisfaction (and mine). The exercises that have to be done are simple and worth it for the benefit of my baby now and for the future. The office staff were all pleasant and professional, and the office was clean and organized. I would highly recommend Dr. Rosenberg and the Smile Studio to anyone with a question of a tongue/lip tie in their child! read more

Major privacy concerns! This place is very small and the office does not care about your privacy. During my visit, all my personal information was broadcast to everyone in the waiting room; this included my social security number, date of birth, complete name and even mailing address! They had a "we could care less" attitude about the problem, only stating that they trust their customers and that my information will not be used against me! They need to put a glass window up, and close the door between the waiting room and the work area. read more

Dr. Rosenberg gets all the stars from us. We couldn't be happier with her treatment of our daughter's lip and tongue tie. Our daughter was 4 months at the time of the procedure, which is a bit older than many of the babies she helps, but the treatment went off without issue. Dr. Rosenberg and her staff are very professional, and they were able to work us in for a next day appointment once we discovered our daughter had a problem. Dr. Rosenberg even called us later that evening (on a Friday night!) to make sure everything was ok. To anyone who is concerned about the procedure: you're in good hands. Dr. Rosenberg's office is literally filled with babies. I asked and was told they have done thousands of these procedures and people come from all over to see her. My daughter was smiling before the procedure, screaming during it and immediately after, but smiling once again after I nursed her in the office. This review is for anyone considering getting their infant's tongue or lip tie "fixed" here. First, this review is absolutely coming from a place of anger so take it with a grain of salt if you want. My 4 week old son was having trouble latching, so we went for a consultation last week, and Dr Rosenberg used the laser to snip both a tongue and lip tie. That's not the part I'm upset about, the procedure went fine. But my son had a terrible reaction afterwards -screaming at every feeding (when he would actually consider taking the breast), swollen lip for days, general discomfort and miserable-ness. It was so bad we went back in a few days later to make sure it wasn't infected. It wasn't. She suggested seeing a chiropractor, which we did and it was the only thing that helped (see review of village chiropractic in Brookline). Here's where I get mad. Today we went back to get it checked. Given how miserable he was and that he was finally getting back on track with chiropractic care, I had decided if anything had reattached that I was just going to leave it be. I was not given the choice. She checked the lip-fine. Checked the tongue -it was slightly reattached. And without telling me what she was doing or ASKING and knowing full well how horrible the last time had been, manually unattached it. Blood filled his mouth. Shocked and stunned are two words that come to mind. I couldn't say a word so here I am passive agressively writing a review and gearing up for another week of misery with my poor boy. My take away-try chiropractic care first for a bad latch. And be clear what you want and say it before you let them touch your kid. read more

I was referred by our amazing lactation consultant to Dr. Rosenberg for my son's lip and tongue tie when he was about 1 week of age. Initially I was concerned about the diagnosis and whether the surgery would help his latch. Dr. Rosenberg confirmed our lactation consultant's opinion and showed us his lip and tongue ties with explanations including comparison photos which made it quite clear that indeed he had both of these conditions. I was feeling nervous about putting our one week old newborn through a surgery but it was very quick and it ultimately helped correct his latch. After the procedure, Dr. Rosenberg very patiently went over the tongue exercises (actually quite hard to do in a newborn with such a small mouth) and called to check up on how we were doing that evening. We did the exercises regularly as instructed and also looked at the videos Dr. Rosenberg had posted online which was so helpful since I was very forgetful postpartum. His latch improved but around 2.5 months of age his latch suddenly became shallow and painful again and I noticed he was not moving his tongue much and felt a tight frenulum under his tongue again. I called Dr. Rosenberg's office and they were able to fit us in immediately, and she confirmed that his tongue tie had reattached somehow, likely due to a genetic mutation (not a huge surprise since my husband had a very obvious tongue tie). She was able to re-do my son's surgery that day, went over the exercises with us again, and touched base with me by phone to make sure he was doing okay. The initial surgery was not covered by our insurance as we have a high deductible, but was very much worth the $ to fix his latch to successfully breastfeed, and we are extremely grateful to Dr. Rosenberg and her staff for seeing us back on short notice and fixing his reattachment without an additional charge. His latch is again fixed and the pain with feeding has completely resolved (took a few days). Would highly recommend for my friends or anyone else with kids with lip or tongue ties! read more

We had been struggling with nursing since birth, and it was very stressful for me and our little baby. He wasn't gaining weight well, and I was always in pain. We were recommended to Dr. Rosenberg around 3 weeks, and while it's only been one week since his procedure we are already noticing a big positive change. Dr Rosenberg did tongue and lip tie releases on my 2 toddlers. We sat in the tiny waiting room for 1.5 hours before seeing her; this was painful with small children. The procedures were performed the same day which was great because we live far away and I had to take the day off work. My older child did well, but it was absolute torture for my younger one, I can't completely blame them for it but I think they could have done a better job dealing with it. She recommended diligence with the post-procedure exercises because it's likely they had a gene that makes it more probable for reattachment. The next day, my children's daycare nurse said she would do the exercises as long as she gets a note from the doctor, so I called the office & left a message. Two days later I called again because I didn't hear back, I spoke with someone who said she would tell the doctor & fax the note over. Two days later, still no note so I called and left another message. A week after the procedures the office called to get pictures of the kids to see how they are healing, again I requested the note. The next day Dr. Rosenberg called to discuss the pictures, and I asked about the note again. She said if the nurse did the exercises, she didn't want my kids to cry at school & scare the other children... ummmmm, what??? I assured her that was not a factor & please send the note! Still, no note!! Here we are a few months later, with reattachment which I'm sure could have been lessened if the school nurse had been able to do the exercises. What a waste of $3400 and pain & suffering by my poor kids. If I could go back in time, there's no way I would have gone there!! read more

If you're at all on the fence about correcting your child's tie, or where to have it done (and I was both), I would urge you to go with the procedure and have Dr. Rosenberg perform it. It's quick, simple, and for us, it's been utterly transformative. Our three-month-old was in the 3rd percentile for weight and has struggled to nurse since the hospital. In the week since Dr. Rosenberg released his tongue and lip tie, he's been able to latch, we've shed the nipple shield, his GI distress (and associated screaming) has resolved, and he's gained over a pound. I know this all sounds like infomercial testimony, but hand-to-heart, it's all true. And the recovery stretches she assigns have been nowhere near as bad as I thought they'd be. Dr. Rosenberg is empathetic and knowledgeable, and the staff are lovely. Don't be surprised if your pediatrician is lackadaisical about the procedure- there seems to be a disconnect in the field about how ties impact nursing. My only regret is that we didn't do it sooner - but it's never too late! read more

I went to Lexington Smile Studio in spring 2015 for two appointments. The first was a general cleaning, check up, and x-rays. The second appointment was to get three small cavities filled. On the plus side, everyone there is very nice, friendly, and caring, and wants to make sure that you're happy and comfortable. They have a great bedside manner. There were two major negatives for me, though. The first was trying to sell you services that you don't need-- when I went, the dentist recommended a full deep cleaning under the gum line, which would have been both painful and expensive. I got second opinions from 2 other dentists after that, and they both said it was absolutely not necessary. My husband had a similar experience-- Dr. Rosenberg recommended a painful and expensive procedure, and when he got other opinions, they said it wasn't needed. Two years later, neither of us had the procedures that Dr. Rosenberg recommended, and both of us go to other dentists and continue to get clean bills of health. I also wondered whether they filled the cavities correctly-- the doctor seemed confused about the location of one of the cavities and I had to remind her because she almost missed it. The second major negative is billing. When I went there for the procedures, they were unable to give me an exact estimate of the cost up front. I called a month after the visit to pay the bill, and they were unable to give me a total or process a payment because the insurance payment hadn't processed yet. Okay, I get that. That stuff can take a few weeks sometimes. But I finally got a bill in the mail-- nearly TWO YEARS after I had the dental work done. Maybe the fact that I got a bill at all means that they are straightening up their accounting/billing practices, but the billing headaches were incredibly stressful. There's plenty of other competent dentists in the area-- go elsewhere! read more
