This practice should be shut down. I recenty moved to Cambridge from Boston, so chose to try this place out of pure proximity. Having had zero cavitities since I was in elementary school ~30 years ago, Dr. Cha (after an incredibly quick, superficial cleaning) told me I had SEVEN CAVITIES that needed to be filled, and that my teeth grinding required a custom mouthguard. This would come out to around $2k out of pocket (and they would pocket ~3-4x that), and she heavy handedly tried to pressure me to commit that day despite me voicing my hesitation, as I have had my teeth checked every 6 months and have never had a single cavity in my adult life. I'm glad I trusted my gut, because I went for a second opinion at a trusted dentist recommended by a friend. I didn't tip the new dentist off - he reported I had zero cavities, and when I confessed this was a second opinion and that Cambridge Dental Annex had told me I had seven, he was shocked and outraged, saying 'that is completely absurd, your teeth are perfectly fine.' If you're wondering why Cambridge Dental recently went through a rebranding and changed their name, I'll bet it's because of all the reviews revealing they are a complete and total scam. This place should be shut down for preying on people's health to make a quick buck. read more

I almost never write reviews but not doing it would be a disservice to other people who may go through what I went through. So hopefully you will trust me and previous reviews and DO NOT GO to Cambridge Dental Group. I was treated by Dr. Lee, in our first appointment she said she found cavities in between almost all my teeth (To give you some context, I brush my teeth 3 times a day, I floss and rinse with mouth wash every night, I do my twice a year checkups and cleanings) so it seemed strange to me. Dr. Lee also suggested to remove one of the cavities that seemed to be "borderline an emergency" so I trusted her and went to get it filled. She worked on my tooth and after the procedure I felt very uncomfortable. I gave it a few days and the pain just became unbearable. I couldn't even floss because of the pain. The resin had chipped two days after the application. I went to see Dr. Lee and because she didn't have enough time suggested me to stay the entire day so she could work on my mouth little by little as she worked on her other patients. Dr. Lee not only "removed" a cavity that wasn't there but she drilled so hard into my molar that she almost touched my nerve. I left the office and went to see a different doctor, who saw me and my previous XRays and confirmed that tooth did not have to be touched at all and that if re-doing the tooth didn't help my pain I might have to get a root canal. Thankfully this other doctor helped me and was able to remove all the old resin and re-do my molar. My new doctor was able to see on the XRays that there were bubbles of air/saliva in between my tooth and the resin (wrongly put), that the tooth was so drilled down that it could have caused major issues on my nerve, and just terrible treatment from this doctor who just kept suggesting to do things to my mouth when there was no need to touch anything. I couldn't be more disappointed or sad about what happened with Dr. Lee, what she did to me is NOT right and I hope this doesn't happen to anybody else. read more

They are very heavy handed with dental explorer devices as they check for cavities in a way that is medically not advised and can actually promote cavities. I had not had any issues with my teeth after going to MIT medical for years. After my first visit here, they had me get a filling. Then after my six month check up just now, they were suggesting multiple other things (not sure why they didn't catch these the first time) and were very heavy handed as mentioned above. It felt less like they were checking for cavities and more like they were trying to dig some - I was close to asking him to stop! I read up just now on it and this is something that dentists shouldn't do, they should have a light hand. They seem to run this as a money making operation instead of doing what is best for their customers/clients, and try more to damage teeth to get more high priced visits. I plan to find a new dentist. read more

These dentists permanently ruined my teeth. I came in for a routine check-in and they told me I needed a root canal immediately. I obliged, only to find out they are not experts at the procedure and accidentally forgot to seal an opening in the tooth; fluid from the root canal escaped and damaged the underlying bone. Two years later, I had to have the tooth pulled because of this mistake and am waiting on an implant. With so many dentists to choose from, please don't choose this one. read more

I do not recommend Cambridge Dental Annex. This is probably the worst dental experience I've encountered. They sell you on convenience of time and speed and a central location in Cambridge. I have been upsold on multiple dental procedures so they can profit off of you. From the moment I sat down, I was told I needed several sealants and cavities filled without a clear explanation, which created a sense of "you're always getting ripped off here." I have never had any cavities before that point. I have been charged the highest end of prices without any explanation and you never feel like this team is on your side. I know this because I got other estimates from dentists. The dentist at Cambridge Dental Annex I had was disrespectful and demeaning when I asked questions, not giving me a clear understanding of what was happening. They made me feel like everything was my fault and were not transparent about their procedures or practices. They just did it as quickly as possible so they could make money off the next patient. I have had painful toothaches after my visits and have not been able to eat food or sleep normally. This has been a nightmare experience leaving me with hundreds of dollars worth of dentist bills out of pocket. My appointments were late. I have had to get second looks at the service which left my teeth in pain and will not be returning. The employees are non-responsive and highly transactional. The best part about the experience was that the dental assistant was very kind. I will not return here. read more

I chose this place out of convenience. Boy was that a mistake! It was my fault for prioritizing proximity but I would never do this again. First, I requested to be seen by a particular dentist they feature on their website. When I showed up to my appointment, I was surprised to see Dr. Carol Yun show up at my chair instead. I was never notified that the other dentist no longer works there and whether I would like to reschedule or be seen by someone else. They pointed out several cavities that needed to get filling. It was not a surprise since I had a history of having cavities before. I came in having no toothaches but after my first visit, but ever since I have gotten my cavities taken care of here, I was not able to eat and enjoy food normally. They also seem to be using out of date technologies. Be warned. I am definitely not going back there. read more

I am a 25 year-old man but a huge baby when it comes to dental work. I wince at every little thing, tense up, and profusely sweat from anxiety- all from a routine cleaning. After three visits Dr. Yun knows this very well. Her bedside manner is wonderful. She is very comforting and puts me at ease. You know in movies when a surgeon is performing a complicated, stressful surgery and they have an assistant next to them wiping the sweat from his/her brow? That's exactly what happens to me except I'm the patient. I would recommend her to any of my friends and family. Plus the location is very convenient! read more

DO NOT come here for even a cleaning! I had Dr. Cha for a routine cleaning and ended up redoing a seal and a small cavity, all seeming to charge up my dental insurance and had to pay a little out of pocket. The experience was very unprofessional; she explained what you NEED done after her quick exam and then when you're set up in the chair for the cleaning (leaned back and tools ready in your mouth), pressures you agree to those additional treatments when all you came in was for a cleaning. This morning, as I was in Dr. Dempsey's chair, I thought to myself - "I should really make sure to leave a good review..." I've never had another medical provider who was so thoughtful about pain management during procedures, which is obviously one of the more important bits of the process! He's also thoughtful, compassionate, and efficient, and attentive to his patients' needs (I like having a sense of where I am in a procedure, and he gave great updates). Dr. Yun is so personable and awesome at changing her schedule to accommodate my crazy schedule. She can finish a wisdom tooth extraction very quickly and swiftly and from my chats with other people, my healing process has been much easier than others. BEWARE!!! Dr. Carol Yun should not be allowed to practice dentistry. I went to her for the first time in my life for a cleaning just from a google search and without telling me how much anything would cost or showing me my x-rays, she said I needed 4 cavities filled immediately and I needed my wisdom teeth extracted. I have never had any cavities in my life, but she made me nervous so I told her to go ahead with fillings. She yelled at me the entire time and made me feel so small just because my nose was blocked and I couldn't breathe properly, as if I had done something to personally offend her. At the end she charged me $500 out of pocket, and forced me into the follow up appointment for extractions, as well as encouraging me to get Invisalign for thousands of dollars. I went to another dentist after that (Dr. Zylber's office- Central Square Dental) because Carol rubbed me the wrong way and they clearly told me I did NOT need any extractions at all nor did I really need those 4 fillings that were done. DO NOT GO HERE! THIS PLACE IS FULL OF FRAUD and should be shut down. read more

Went to Cambridge Dental Annex for a cleaning, check-up and crown and I was in and out in an hour. The staff was friendly and professional, and the treatment was amongst my best experiences. Dr Aram explained everything he was doing as well as the available options for my treatment. He also did my cleaning and not only was it pleasant, I left there feeling super clean. This was only my second visit but I'll definitely keep coming back. read more

I have very sensitive teeth, and once I told her she took great care to minimize my pain during the procedure. These two dentists are angels! I was unfortunate enough to have to get wisdom teeth out on holidays to the USA (two Summers in a row). I was in a particularly vulnerable not knowing market prices. Because it was an emergency I had the chance to see both Dentists, both times and they were so kind. Also, they literally charged me 10% of what others quoted. I've been going to this dentist for a couple of years now, but I'm moving out of town, and I won't be headed back again. So I wanted to give them a shout out before I leave. Disclaimer that I'm not a dentists, so what do I know? I also don't have any big dental issues so I only came in for semi-annual checkups/cleanings. But there are still a couple indications that make me think this place knows what they are doing. Sort of weird teeth run in my family - our gums naturally come up higher on the tooth, and this throws some dentists off. Cambridge Dental Annex wasn't phased, but they did notice it. The dentist instructed the hygienist that it wasn't a problem to worry about when she showed him. This place also doesn't push teeth whitening or other extras that aren't really about dental health. I've never had a problem with customer service and they even figured out my weird insurance pretty quickly. They are also prompt with getting you started - within 5 minutes of your appointment time. So I'm a satisfied customer and a little sad that I'll have to find a new dentist after the move. read more

If i could give no stars I would! these people are thieves. My mom made an appointment for cleaning and within that time her insurance changed. My mom didn't realize it and they didn't brother asking my mom her new insurance information and had her pay $45 at the spot and also sent her a bill for $500. This is just for cleaning!!! Are you joking me? Because my mom doesn't speak english, they made sure they rip her off! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone at all! I have been a patient of Dr Yun's for 6 years and found her to be very capable and professional. My teeth are not in the best shape so have needed a lot of fillings, root canals and the like. My dental insurance is accepted here and they have been willing to work with me on paying some of the larger expenses over time. I appreciate that Dr. Yun brings in younger technicians to perform specialized tasks as she seems to have a healthy ethic about supporting those on their way up. The front desk are personable and always call before an appointment with a reminder. I am very happy with my experience here. read more

My first visit was with Dr. Raymond Dempsey, the periodontist. He listened & then did a very thorough exam and he came up with a plan for my gum disease...I just got dental insurance so this does have to wait, Meanwhile, since I also have other problems he had Dr.Insun Yun one of the dentist there come & see what she can do and so far she has done a several fillings,in which she hopes will save 2 specific teeth in the back. I called the next day because the bite was a off and so the next morning I went back for an adjustment (filing down the filling in the back and a follow up with a polishing. All of this in a 3 day period.l also was given 2 prescriptions, for mouthwash(only for a 2 week period) and toothpaste. Every person in this office are not only professional, they are friendly and makes one feel very comfortable and at ease. Not happy with my dental issues though I am at ease being a client of this team. read more
