Steve has reached out since my initial post and requested for me to update my review regarding the drivebelt. He has been professional and offered to replace my belt with one purchased from Lexus, and explained that the part purchased from Toyota may differ in appearance from the Lexus part, but are identical. I get that the Bando belt put on my car may be from an OEM supplier to Toyota, but I had hoped to receive a genuine part for which I was billed. After Steve's explanation, I ordered a belt though the Toyota dealer and still found that the genuine belt from Toyota was marked differently and produced in a different country than the Bando belt. Honestly, either belt would be fine for the remaining life of my vehicle, and is not a big deal mechanically. I was just surprised not to see a Toyota labeled part, when that was what I expected to get. I appreciate the offer for Lexservice to make things right, as they could've easily dismissed my concerns. However, it has simply taken more apprehension, time, and money to get my car to what was originally promised. read more

Barely found out this place had a yelp page got my front brakes replaced and my rotors machined I usually don't trust centers like this cause I always get the feeling that I might get ripped off...anyways! I called my boss to ask for advice since i don't have a clue about cars he enthusiastically told me that was a great quote that I got to get it fixed even though they were trying to add on all kinds of stuff that really wasn't that serious almost made me not come back here. I have a 2003 Lexus ES 300 with over 130k miles. I had been taking it to the dealer for regular maintenance up until about 75k miles. Due to the ridiculous dealer costs my maintenance ended there! My starter went out and I refused to take it to the dealer. Thankfully, I found Steve and his Japanese Car Clinic. He repaired the starter at just over half of the cost of the dealer's price and he uses only authentic Lexus parts! I have not taken my car anywhere else since. As someone who has been taken advantage of by shady mechanics, this was a welcome change! Steve is honest and up front about all work and makes absolutely sure that his customers are satisfied. He takes the time to explain in great detail the problem with your vehicle and how he plans to fix it. I also take my daughter's 1994 Honda for maintenance and repair. Two years later, and I still only have great things to say. A few months ago (yes, I am late in writing this review), my clutch went out. I barely made it to Steve and Paul on a Monday morning, and they replaced the clutch and did my 90,000 mile service together. I had my car back the next day. It was a little pricey in comparison when I got quotes from other places, but I really trust these two and I know that they do quality work. About two weeks later, my car just died on me driving down the street on a Sunday afternoon. I pulled over, and had it towed over, even though they are closed on Sundays. The next morning I went in and explained what happened and pointed to my car out on the street. They took it in, and it turns out that some bracket failed and too much air (or no air? I can't remember) was getting to the engine. They called me a couple of hours later, told me my car was ready, and that there was no charge. They've helped my 2005 Mazda keep running like a gem and I will definitely have all of my future work done by Steve. read more

Never noticed this place before, but it happened that I saw the sign guy waving an arrow sign to the business around when my enigne light turned on again. Brought my car to a Toyota delaership, but they were unable to find the problem. Lex Service foudn the problem right away. Not only were they able to fix that, but also fix the rotating sound from my rotors and drums, which the Toyota dealership also were unable to find out. Now my 13 yr old Toyota 4runner runs much better, like it did years ago. Service was also great. Would have used their waiting room area (comfortable seating), but they also were good in driving me to my workplace nearby. They also picked me up when the work was done. I am writing this review while waiting in their comfortable wi-fi supporting customer lounge. I've been coming to this place since I got my Acura 3 years ago. Honestly, this is the best auto service shop that I experienced. Even better than dealer-owned shop's service. Since I am not an expert on auto parts and price, I cannot comment if they are the cheapest place in the town. However, when it comes to service and knowledge of cars, they know what they are talking about. Also, they give you no pressure when additional services are needed, and even suggest you to shop around for better pricing. shame that they only sevice Japanese cars, but if you do own a Japanese car, I strongly recommend you to check them out. read more

my toyota SLE solara convertible started making clunking sound over every speedbump and minor road imperfections. I looked up online and everyone said that your strut is gone and probably over $500 cost. Checked yelp , called lexservice and talked to steve. When I visited him , he found the problem in a specific bumper nut and was done in less than 10 minutes and charged practically nothing Very honest and clean shop and great customer service..They just gained a lifelong customer. read more

It's always hard to find a good mechanic that is honest and does good work at a reasonable price. Look no further if you own a Lexus. Paul is extremely professional in explaining the work and the cost. I believe Steve is the owner and he is always there, which is always a plus. When the owner is there, the work gets done. I recently got my timing belt changed along with the water pump at Paul's recommendation. It only makes sense since you don't want to take the engine apart twice. I have over 120K miles and the car runs like I just bought it. I got a brake job on our other car and it works great. Highly recommend this place for all your Lexus needs. read more

These guys are great!!! I have a 2001 IS300 and needed a reliable and honest mechanic in the area - Long Beach adjacent. I relied on Yelp reviews and gave them a try with an oil change and diagnostic check. I love that you have to make an appt so I am assured my car will be seen that day. I was very happy with the customer service and pricing, so brought my car back in for some of the major repairs that were recommended. Again, great customer service by both Steve and Paul and their mechanics; pricing is reasonable! They have a very nice, comfortable lobby/waiting area with Free Wi-Fi, TV, coffee & snacks. Great staff, dedicated to getting it right as far as Japanese vehicle maintenance and repair. The owner collects and restores rare rotary (wankel) engine motorcycles from the 70s and 80s and the passion comes through for car service. You can see some of these beautiful bikes in the lobby. It's rare to find a car shop you really feel like you can trust. I came here because of all the great reviews and I wasn't disappointed. My SC300 was hesitating when I accelerated so I brought it down to get it checked out. Paul at the front desk was very approachable and did a great job of keeping me updated on the progress of the repairs. Before going forward with any fixes, Paul Emailed me what needed to be replaced to fix the issue as well as some scheduled maintenance that was overdue (including prices for all of this). When I went to pick it up, Steve and Paul explained very clearly what the problem was, what was replaced, and most importantly, what other services were recommended and why. The price was very fair and my car is running fantastic. Going back in a couple weeks to get my timing belt and water pump replaced since they've never been after 120k miles. Update - brought her back down for the 90k and 120k service and the price was what Paul quoted me a couple months ago. VERY quick turnaround for all that needed to be done and I got a loaner Lexus LS for the day at no cost. I was having an issue with my transmission fluid, after doing an oil change. After taking it in and having Steve and his mechanics explain what I had did wrong, they told me how to fix it and did not charge me anything. LexService has been working on my car since 2014. It is an older car with close to 190,000 miles on it. So lately it has had one problem after another. But I can honestly say I feel my car is in good hand and each problem (new alternator, new starter, transmission fluid changed etc...) that has been addressed was fixed thoroughly and completely. My Dad and brother have been coming for years and swear by the service. This was my first time and I am very pleased.

I came here twice for scheduled maintenance (60k and 70k). Both times spoke with Paul, the office manager, a very friendly gentleman and made an appointment. Both times I went it is him and Steve the owner handling the work orders up front, so no newbie employee pretending to run the shop and overselling...you deal directly with the manager and owner everytime. No frills shop..not the cheapest in town but cheaper than dealers. They have never tried to sell me any unnecessary services and did the work promptly while I waited. They are a busy shop so always make an appointment when possible. Lot of happy customers coming back. They will provide a loaner car or give you a ride for services that will take long. Decided on them because of reading YELP reviews. I've been getting mechanics that put bandages on the problems I've had with my Toyota Sienna, but LexService diagnosed the problem and fixed it.
