    Mongolian Beef
    Kelly C.

An unassuming spot right in the heart of downtown. I really wish they would allow 1/2 stars. The food was good; I had the hot and sour soup, which I really enjoyed, and the Mongolian beef, which was also tasty. Portions were generous, served hot, and the staff was friendly and attentive. You can tell the owners are working very hard. The front of the restaurant could use a little maintenance (not the most pleasing) and during our visit, the family's child was playing in the dining area (including riding a trike and scooter), which was a bit distracting. Overall, though, it was a pleasant meal with good food and warm service.

I would expect many to overlook this spot! But the service family was very attentive. The food, hot and tasty from Chicken and Cashews, to Sesame Chicken, Soup and Thai (Panang Curry).

I've been a couple times, hoping it was just a bad day. Nope. Terrible food. And very slow service that just isn't friendly.

I am sad to report that a lot has changed in 4 years…read more They've moved, they've changed cooks and the quality of the food has gone down the toilet. They new interior was the first indication. The dining room flowed right into the cashier area which flowed right into the kitchen which flowed right into the stairway to what may be the owners home. If it was more intimate it might have seemed like you had a exclusive seat inside the kitchen. But the high ceilings and the fact that our seats felt like they were an unobstructed football field's length from the kitchen gave the place an empty, cavernous feel. We got our wanton soup. It was lukewarm and bland. We got a couple noodle dishes and same thing, no flavor. I tried the rice and was amazed to discover that it was hard and dry, almost like it had been sitting on the counter for a couple hours. The pieces of chicken were just barely cooked and my wife bit into one to discover it was raw in the middle. I asked for some chili sauce, eager to improve this mess but discovered once I'd added it that it made the meal worse. I tried the sauce by itself and rather than chili it tasted like the inside of a refrigerator. I have no doubt that I was served the top couple spoonfuls from a jar that had been sitting, uncovered in the fridge for months. We tried to wash it all down with some more water but we were out. The poor gal had to run a marathon to get from the kitchen to the dining area so the service was infuriatingly slow and full water glasses were the casualties. We watched an Asian family walk in, review the menu and then walk out. Good call!! I only wish we had done the same.

It's the only place in Star Valley where you can eat Chinese food. It's good, as long as you know…read morewhat to get, if you don't know--you better pull out your reading glasses because the menu is LITERALLY 20 pages long. Sesame chicken, Orange chicken, or the Mongolian beef are my top three choices. You can never go wrong with any of them. The Sesame is crispy and piping hot, Orange is always good (although sometimes pretty spicy and it seems to be a gamble whenever you order it), and the Mongolian is a winner wherever you go. Be sure to try an egg roll as an appetizer as well, it's more of a spring roll (veggies instead of meat, and a thinner/crispier shell), and it's always hit the spot. The service is just, eh. The waiter I had was nice enough, but didn't really "sell" me on any of the food! He also didn't offer any dessert, I wanted to try something unique, he just brought my check as soon as I took my last bite. Nonetheless, if you're looking for great Chinese and you know exactly what to get--come to Cheng Chongs! TIPS & TRICKS: * Park in the south side parking lot, you can nonchalantly go in through the side door instead of making a huge racket as you walk into the front. * Take a look at and appreciate the decor. It literally is the only Chinese place that could pull of the "mounted-stuffed-animal-heads" in every corner. WELCOME TO WYOMIN' Y'ALL.

We were looking a for a thai place to eat around the area and finally found this one. The bathroom…read moreis pretty small and right next to the eating area but had its once entrance so it was fine. We asked the staff about the spice level and they said it was all based on American spice so if you're looking for spice just get the highest level. The staff were really nice they brought us some chili and jalapeños to eat with our food (probably after seeing us fein for some spice). We started off with the Laab Gai and Tom Yum Soup. Both scarfed down in seconds. Do wish the soup had a little more mushroom or something in it though. All the dishes were great and were good portions. We ended up taking most of the dishes home for breakfast the following day. The Thai Fried Rice with Shrimp and Duck Noodle Soup were a little on the plainer side but still good. The Pad Woon Sen is a lot, it comes with noodles and rice, was surprised when I got it. The sauce it came was not spicy but the dish itself already was flavorful so didn't use it much. The Pad Gar Pow was a little similar but a little more saucy. The Massaman Curry was probably my favorite. This was so good especially with rice. If anything I would recommend this dish and the Pad Woon Sen. This place was great, the hard cider they had was also great. Overall recommend if you're in the area and looking for some good Thai food with good sized portions.

My friends and I started off with some Thai Iced Teas which were solid! We then ordered the following: Pad Kee Mao w/crispy duck Spicy Fried Rice w/chicken Tom Kha Soup w/shrimp Pad See Ew w/beef Green curry w/chicken Honestly, everything was delicious but the ones that really stood out were the pad kee mao w/crispy duck and the tom kha soup w/chicken. The crispy duck was fantastic- juicy, tender, flavorful, and freshly fried. The noodles and seasoning/sauce in the pad kee mao were also good. As for the tom kha soup, the broth was very flavorful from the lemongrass, lime, galangal, etc. And the coconut milk added a nice creaminess to the soup. Not to mention, there was so much chicken, veggies, and mushrooms in the soup! Overall, my friends and I were very pleasantly surprised from our experience here at Thai Plate and we hope to come back when we visit Jacksonhole again!

We passed by people eating on the patio and thought "we should come back here" tomorrow night. So…read morewe did. We were promptly seated on the deck and given waters. The service was great and pir waitress was kind. Although the noodles looked good, I wasn't sure I had a big enough appetite so I thought I would start with the Papaya Salad, amd if still hungry get noodles after. The Papaya Salad was huge! The spice was good, but the papaya was definitely not fresh. Everything in the salad was hard & raw amd slightly pickled. I ended up ordering a side of chicken to get some protein, which was a decent portion, but definitely boiled chicken. The BKK Noodles my husband ordered was a good portion but there were so few pieces of chicken they were gone in the first few bites. In addition the flavor was bland. It had the start of good flavor, but fell flat. In addition to the "fine" food, $30 for the noodles was insane! We have amazing thai at home all the time and it's nowhere near $30 for authentic & delicious noodles. We didn't try the other thai place in town, but if you're looking for good thai I think I would try someplace else.

I had heard of happy hour options, but when we looked at the menu, it seemed like that wasn't an option anymore. The food was delicious. I will say, similar to many places downtown, it was expensive. The dumplings were 15$ and came with four. I'd pass on these in the future. I also ordered and shared the BKK street noodles (22$ with no protein) and Mongolian beef (27$). I've seen other reviews that say the street noodles taste poorly, but that wasn't my experience. The noodles were not saucy via the "pad thai sauce", but the flavor was there and seemed somewhat authentic. The Mongolian beef though...was soooo good. That was definitely my favorite of the night, and I mixed it with some of the noodles for a yummy bite. The one negative was the service. Our waiter was not friendly and never came back. Though that was frustrating, I'd come back and try more if we're in the area again.
