last week i had talked with someone about my tree that was tangled into the power lines...they said they would send an Arborist to come look at it...the gentleman came out the next day and said it needed to be cut back and would send someone out this past Monday...yes its Friday...i contacted LG&E through Facebook and he told me he would send them out the very next day, which was today at 8am. Nelson came out and trimmed it back in no time. They were very kind and personable young men...they wasted no time in getting it down and had it chipped up and left within just an hour and a half!! for what they had to do that was quick!! There has been a power outage neighborhood wide since about 8:45am. It is currently 10:26 and per the website, they are currently "checking for the cause of the outage", YET, no one from LG&E has even been sent out on site! In a power outage "expected" to be solved by 12pm. A 3 hour and 15 minute expected outage due to the lack of willingness to send someone to site! May I add, this is a PRIMARILY ELDERLY NEIGHBORHOOD IN 80° WEATHER! Great customer service and great initiative from LG&E as always, seems to be matching their reputation on Yelp even more! If I could seriously give a 0 star review, I wouldn't hesitate. read more

LG&E -- 1 star. Monopoly malice, avoid if you value competence. If you think you're signing up for electricity, what you actually get is an endless parade of excuses, indifferent customer "service," and bills that behave like a horror story you can't unsubscribe from. LG&E operates like a monopolist with no shame -- they price-gouge, underdeliver, and treat customers like a revolving annoyance rather than human beings. Outages? Frequent and cavalier. Communication? Nonexistent until you're the one doing the detective work. Their outage maps and "estimated restoration" times are laughably optimistic or downright false; you'll be left in the dark while automated messages suggest everything's under control. Call customer service and be prepared for scripted platitudes, transfers, and the soul-sapping wait that ends with no resolution. When a real problem happens, they shrug and shift blame -- never accountability, never urgency. Billing is another disaster. Charges appear with zero explanation, credits take forever (if they ever appear), and trying to get anything clarified feels like pulling teeth. Want a manager? Good luck. Want someone to actually fix recurring issues at your house? Prepare to fight bureaucracy and get a lecture about "system-wide conditions" that never seem to affect anyone in a corner office. LG&E's monopoly status lets them behave like entitled bottom-feeders. They've turned essential service into a coin-operated exercise in frustration. If this company had competitors, perhaps they'd stop treating customers like collateral damage -- but until then, we're stuck with complacency dressed up as "service." One star. Shame on you, LG&E. Regulators and legislators: please pay attention. Neighbors: document everything, take pictures and timestamps, and bring receipts to every conversation. KU screwed up my final bill. My last payment went through my bank 4 days before the service was put in the new owners name. KU deducted both my last bill and the final bill from my deposit. I have now been on hold for 76 minute. The automated message stated there were 10 customers ahead of me on the phone. 7.6 minutes per customer. RIDICULOUS. read more

I have been with LG&E for over 3 decades. In the past years, they swope out smart meters on many of my rental properties without sending me a noticed. I passed it. However, I opted out and agreed to pay $29 per month for someone to come and read the meter monthly on my personal property for the reason that my tenants complained the utility bills are slightly higher than the old meters. In the past 2 months, the weather is cold and snow. LG&E didn't send out any readers and overcharged me based on last year's usage (it called estimated). They charged me this fee and used the reason that there's blockages from my property preventing them to access to read the meter. This was totally fault. Hijacked, extorted your customer for this service is considering lowlife. If anyone of you remember that last year LG&E increased the bill up to 8% on residentials and in general, they jacked up their incomes to over 6 billion dollars yearly. This company is so greedy, still ripoff their customers on other things to satisfied them. Oh well. I'm on my way to Texas. read more

Live on the wrong side of the street..Lived at my residence for many many years ...my electricity goes off to 4--5 or more times a year ...stays off for days ....I'm sick of it ..the state or LGE does not want to rectify this problem..maybe temporary fix bu not a permanent one ..this should not happen over 25 years ..mind you the neighbors across the street always keep theirs on..the wind can barely blow & it goes off for days!!!!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. If you want to enter phone message hell, call LGE. The system constantly has a message that they have high call volumes and to call back later and then hangs up on you. This happens all the time. They must have one person taking calls. You have to go through 20 options and enter your social security number or your account number before you can get to a human being. I guess they expect everyone to have their account number in their wallet. Alas, this is probably the best one can be expected from monopolies and government agencies. read more

LG&E KU owes me a refund for my deposit. I found this out on 6/25/25 I received my bill and was told to call to update my address. I immediately called to make sure my address was updated and was told it would be two months to issue the check. Two months later I was informed the check was sent to the wrong address. As soon as I found this out (8/29/25) I called to have the check canceled and reissued. I was told they would have to contact the refund department, and they would get the check canceled asap, and I would get a call back. I did not. I called at 4:25 and requested a supervisor who told me I called at the end of the day and there was nothing she could do till Tuesday. Got a call on Tuesday (9/2/25) and nothing had been done. Called Tuesday night and got told nothing had been done but if they canceled the check a new check would not be issued for another 30 days. Called Wednesday (9/3/25) because I was not called on Wednesday and was told the check had just been processed to be canceled and that would take 48 hours to hear back from the bank. Then, they would have to decide when they would be able to issue a new check. read more

TERRIBLE TOOK THEM OVER 4 hours to turn power back on in the winter it's freaking cold my food is ruined very disappointed

Every time the wind blows our power goes out and you can be sure when it goes out we are always the last street yo get it back on. I can't tell you how many times I've list all the food in my refrigerator because if this abs it looks like it's happening again. With less than 9000 people without power when we called to check on restore time it's been 15 hours already since my power was out. A guy came to check on the wires down but was told he couldn't fix it because he had to go che k on other wires down. Still no power and LGE says "still under evaluation ". They have no problem taking your money each month. Their customer service is horrible. I'm sure if I lived in the east end my power would have been restored promptly. Now,as expensive as groceries are I guess my food will end up being tossed again and I just went to grocery 3days ago. read more

This company has zero customer service. Their billing department makes mistakes for months on end and they expect you to pay the difference from their mistakes. Billing department must be filled with fucking idiots who are allowed to continually make mistakes like only adding gas charges to your bill, not electric, for 9 months without anyone ever noticing. Then back bill you for the difference due to their mistake. Then proceed to say that I should have been the one who checked my bill PDF every month to ensure my charges are correct. This company is absolute dog shit and I would love for there to be another company in the Louisville metro that I could get service through. Unfortunately, there isn't, and I am stuck with this atrocious and dreadful place they call a business. This company can kiss my bare ass. read more

You do not need proof of residency to get electricity turned off or on in your name. The company canceled our account despite that it was active and in good standing, and put it in someone else's name, without once contacting us in any way. We own this home and all they could say was that they can't deny anyone service- despite having canceled our own. Got an angry neighbor? Abusive relationship? Crazy ex? They can turn off your electricity if they use this company! read more

One of the worse companies I've ever dealt with. Before Christmas arrived they shut off our power because our fuse box had been having problems (let it be noted we called about this problem at the start of December) they showed up unexpectedly one day and didn't notify us or anything. We were out of power for 3 days! In the middle of winter, it was freezing and it ruined our food and everything else you could think of. Not being from Louisville we had no where else to go. No family, no friends, nothing. 3 days comes and goes and it's finally fixed. Fast forward today! Jan 3,2020. They come by to turn it off again with out telling us again! They said this time they need to install a "smart meter". We asked how long that would be and the guy said a few hours and that he needed to run and get the part? Why didn't he have the part with him in the first place??? 3 hours go by and the guy still has not showed up. Let it be known now it's Friday. They are closed on the weekends.... so we are without power again. Easily the laziest company I've ever worked with. They can't do one job in one day. If we had another option to get power from we would but since they are the only ones available they could care less about there customers and how it effects how we live. Ugh, where to start with this scumbag company?! How about just the most recent debacle. I was buying a new condo and let them know the date I needed my service switched. The closing date ended up being pushed back by the mortgage company, and we were left homeless for over a month - bouncing from hotel to hotel while dealing with busy times for both of us at work. The then-owner of the condo let LG&E know when the actual, final closing date was approaching that they needed to switch the service from her name on that date. Instead, they have decided for months now to leave her final month of service on my bill, and refuse (despite complaints to the PWC, Attorney General, etc) to remove it and bill it to the correct party. And now they are threatening disconnection because I have not paid (and will not pay) the previous owner's bill. Completely and totally rude (and incompetent and illegal) scumbags. read more
