If I could give this place zero stars I would. Walk in. Ask for a table for two. Owner I believe was very nice. Told us 5 minute wait. We wait outside and he comes to get us and we are seated. We sit there waiting almost 15 minutes before someone even walks up to us. A waiter comes and asks us what we would like to order and we tell him, we didn't even get a menu yet. He gets us 2 menus and we sit there another 10-15 minutes waiting for someone to take our order. Meanwhile people are leaving and new customers are coming in. We then notice customers that came in way after us were seated, given menus and someone took their orders. All while we sitting there being ignored by the staff. This place was great. I only take off a star because service isn't the best but still decent. Just busy and takes awhile. Anyway, pizzas are great! My broccoli and sausage was fabulous. My husbands prosciutto and mushroom was awesome too! They put the entire prosciutto on it - see picture. The wine was soooo cheap and honestly one of the best table wines I've ever had. We got a half liter for $6. Sooo good. We may go back before we leave if we have some open time because this is one of the best! read more

I am giving this 4 stars based on food quality, with the benefit of the doubt that most servers are better than the zero-dark-thirty looking woman who had us tonight (red hair, glasses, nerdy look). If I am forced to include her, 3 stars. When I am in SF, I go to Tony's. So does Larry Fitzgerald. I know my way around pizza. This pizza is dope. That wood fired thin crust is special. As good as the Tony's of the same type. I should hope so, this is Rome! We got the Diavoli and the Prosciutto Fungi. The latter was my fav, but only by a smidge. It would surely have been better if our server had not left it on the counter to get lukewarm first. Rice balls were very good but would be better with a dipping marinara. But the lack of sauces is endemic here. Bread was stale and felt perfunctory. But they had very good olive oil and balsamic. No real wine list, but the house red ale is a very drinkable amber. Toasty with no off flavors. Basically if you treat this like a top quality beer and pizza spot and get a decent server, i think you will be psyched. Hands down best pizza I have every had. was right around the corner of our hotel and saw good reviews so made a point to go. So late one evening after a less than average meal we decided that we had to get a pizza. we ordered a simple Margarita pizza...10 minutes before closing. Staff so friendly and we're like of course..we make it for take away! since this was first Italian pizza...we're surprised that it was not cut. but that did to stop us from diving it. The most delicious crust that was light, crispy and doughy all at the same time. we should have just gone here! We returned the next night to enjoy the experience and were to disappointed by the friendly staff coming to our table to try to chat. We had a great conversation with my Spanish and companions rusty Italian. This time we tried a few other flavours and were to disappointed. Strongly recommend after a day at the colosseum that you head up the sides streets to grab a pizza from this little gem of a place...and it will to real the bank! read more

Meh. I don't get all the Yelp raves for this place. Pizza was just so so and the atmosphere was too touristy and had a rushed feel to it. Hadn't eaten much pizza while I was in Rome and this was one of the best reviewed within the distance I was searching. I stayed outside the city center. Packed with tourists (since it is close to the Coliseum) but not really deserving of the great reviews IMHO. Pizza was just so-so. Service was pretty fast - especially by Italian standards, so at least I was in and out pretty quickly. That suited me fine since I was dining alone that night. read more

My husband and I had no idea how lucky we were to quickly snag a table at this popular restaurant. Not only does it get crazy busy, it's absolutely delicious. We devoured our food and drinks and loved every moment of the experience. The waiters were nice and the pizza was out of this world. I think they take reservation (again, we lucked out) so I suggest booking in advance if you can because there were definitely lots of people waiting around (and I don't blame them - totally worth it!). read more

On our last night in rome we wanted to taste a great roman style pizza and this restaurant provided just that. Far away from all the tourist traps which populate the city, this place has a real roman soul. And the fact that it is packed with locals is a simple and efficient testimony. There was music and laughter, and best of all, the ceiling is painted with a bright blue sky. Li Rioni was just what we were looking for after spending a fortune in both Paris and Rome on food. I was almost dreading returning to Italy with new food intolerances since my last visit. Who wants to eat in Italy when you avoid dairy? I felt sure I could find a pizzeria that would make the kids and I all happy though. I was sold with all the positive reviews on yelp and trip advisor, and it was literally a 1 minute walk from our hotel, so it was a no-brainer to try. I was happy to see a whole list of no sauce pizzas on the menu and some already with no cheese as well! This may not sound good to normal people but normal people can eat anywhere. I was thrilled because I was able to get a delicious wood fired vegetable pizza with no cheese or tomato sauce. Beautiful normal pizzas too of course. Thin style. Bruschetta appetizer was a little too drenched with evoo for my tastes, but the bread was good. Interior decor was very cute. I did have a laugh since another reviewer mentioned no toilet seat and sure enough - 1 bathroom for all, no toilet seat, and I couldn't get water to come out of the sink either. I was probably missing something obvious though. The staff was very nice and the restaurant was very clean so I think the bathroom is more of a cultural thing. Our hotel made us reservations and from the moment they opened at 7p, every table was reserved with a card so we got lucky. Make reservations! Price wise you can't beat it!! Least expensive meal we've had in Europe ($55e for 4 pizzas, 2 appetizers, 2 bottles of water). Great, off the beaten path location for this staying closer to the big attractions. read more

I came here with a group of 4 other people with high hopes, as one of us had read outstanding reviews from Google. We were not disappointed in the slightest. The five of us being from Canada and knowing little Italian, we had expected our orders to become lost in translation, as it had in previous ristorantes. However, we were warmly welcomed at the front door, and given a prime area to sit on the patio, despite our lack of reservation. The fast and warm service continued on throughout the night, as we were treated to thorough descriptions of each item we had inquired upon, as well as an attitude of welcoming, as we were not made to feel rushed and hurried out of our table, as is typical of North American restaraunts. The rice balls are to die for, a must order, especially at the low cost of €1.80. The pizza is made with superb timing, without anyone at the table left without a dish. I ordered the pizze marinara, which consists of the red tomato sauce as well as various herbs and oils, and lacks cheese. The taste was magnificent, and I could practically taste the freshness of all the ingedients used. The dessert, again given with expert timing and warmth, is not particularly outstanding, but is superior to most at the cost in which it is given. My only complaint is that throughout the dinner service, street musicians and those selling their wares (roses "for the lady") were permitted to walk throughout the patio, and then briefly inside. This is not disasterously distruptive to the dining experience, but it does indicate a minute lack of control that the staff has over those who try to profit off of their gains. Overall, a great experience with even better food. Be sure to arrive as they open, or make reservations, as it does become progressively more crowded as the night goes on. Worth the trip, and within a short walking distance of the Colosseum. read more
