I was on my way to the D train stop on Grand st when I was these cute Christmas cactus plants outside and they were $8 a piece. I couldn't resist so I bought one. The colors were vibrant and pearly. Good service, good variety, good prices. As other reviews say, the lady at the store could come off very abrupt and rude the first time. She does warms up to you pretty quickly if you browse nicely. It was my second time here. I was in the small store for a long time. There's quite a selection of plants inside and out. We talked a lot, in Cantonese. I've learned that her green thumbs really kept all her plants in the store nice and healthy. I got a Pilea plant with water, a cute frog planter and got another Pilea plant in soil, for my mom but in a traditional asian planter. I ended up walking out with a few plants that filled up the backseat of my car. She gave me some good prices and taught me a few things. She was kind enough to share her contact info with when I told her it's not convenient for me to come to the store. She was willing to send me photos and message me about new plants that I could be interested in. I was aware that they do local deliveries and pickups too via messaging on the WeChat platform. The prices here are very fair compared to other shops in the area where they quoted 2-3x the prices. A medium sized money tree here costs $35, while Peony Florists (106 Walker St) was $50, and Manhattan Florist (next to Alimama) quoted me a shocking $95 After my positive experience, a friend went by to check out the place and she got a good deal and a nice plant as well. read more

Every year my mom buys flowers from here to go tomb sweeping. A couple days ago, my mom paid for 4 plants of flowers and they did not give her a receipt. We live close to the shop and we buy there every year, not to mention the flowers we buy throughout the year. My mom Went to pick up the plants and they told her no because she did not have a receipt. So they are not trustworthy and I would not recommend this place. read more

I don't know where to start! First off, they're a standard Chinatown business! Curt, to the point, potentially slightly rude, but willing to help if you have the dough. ;) Review also mainly for succulents! I've visited twice in the span of this last week and their succulent display outside has changed completely! The first time they had plenty of rosette succulents, and they had a particularly adorable flowering one that I regrettably did not get. They had tons more that I couldn't name, but I didn't have cash and therefore didn't get anything. Yesterday (the second time) they had donkey tail I came out with $15 less in my pocket but with a pot of three Lithops. They are so stinking cute! They have more inside the store so make sure you look inside as well! All the succulents seemed to be in good health; plump, little to no etoliation, no wrinkles, and no visible signs of rot! Soil could do with more drainage but plants can easily be repotted. Prices are pretty good. I've seen tiny ones selling for $2, they have a 3 for $10 deal sometimes for the succulents outside. Not too sure about the ones displayed inside though I'm sure the prices are reasonable for the size! I would also recommend you research plants before you get one. You would/should do the same before buying a pet, and this should be no different! I walked down crystie street to visit a different succulent store and was really disappointed by the other one, which made me appreciate this one that much more. Since I am no expert in plants and flowers, my review is probably not the fairest. I was looking for succulent plants around the city and I just couldn't find good ones. I stumbled upon this tiny florist and they happened to have quite a few in different sizes! The price is pretty good too. The owner doesn't speak English but luckily I speak Mandarin so I was able to communicate with her fine. She even give me a discount card if I want to request anything in particular. This is not the place to order or get sophisticated floral design or bouquets. But if you are looking for Chinese bamboo or other plants, you should be having no problem getting them here. read more

Terrible place, avoid. I bought a plant here for the first time and it immediately started to die. A few leafs came off day after day, and I have about 20 plants with self-watering irrigation so I was so clueless why it was dying as I installed a self-watering system to this plant. I brought it back to the place and asked for a replacement as a first-time customer, they utterly refused. Other places will have better customer service. Plus when I came back, it looked like the same plants there were dying too! read more

I've visited this store a few times. The male shopkeeper was very nice and patient, but my most recent visit was terrible. I saw some lithops outside and decided to revisit on a nice day to purchase. An extremely rude lady came and yelled "Don't touch" when I tried taking a grow pot down from a high shelf. She got busy so instead of asking for help I thought it would be okay if I tried looking at the rest of the tray on top by taking a picture from up high, but she saw and yelled again. I was ready to leave but she came over to ask what I wanted to look at. When I asked about care instructions for the tray she took down, she impatiently told me to pick first before she would explain anything to me. The owner/worker was texting and was irritated by my question. She answered my one question unwillingly with attitude and I was on my merry way. I am a great lover.. of oranges! Once, in the not-so-distant past, I drank an excessive amount of orange juice. I could finish a carton in one sitting. I probably still can. I figured, now that producers are infusing orange juice with calcium, vitamin d and vitamin e (i'm mildly lactose intolerant), it would behoove me to drink orange juice like others drink milk. It got to be so much that I could distinguish the different orange juice brands by taste alone. With that in mind, I was meeting some friends for some Pho in Chinatown. After an adventurous and quite horrendous time trying to find parking, I found a spot.. right in front of Li Xing Florist. As I got out of my car, I noted a great many plants in front of the store, as you could imagine a florist would have. However, these were not your typical plants. There was a jasmine plant (like the kind you put in green tea to turn it into jasmine tea) with quite a pleasing scent and a baby mandarin orange tree! $20! Naturally and on impulse, I bought the healthiest, bounciest, fullest tree that had a few oranges already growing on it. The florist said, water it once a week and the tree will bear fruit year round. Oranges year round? Yay! As an added bonus, the sweet smell of orange blossoms will forever fill my apartment. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I came in ready to buy one or two pots of flowers or plants for my new apartment. Firstly, the shopkeeper could barely speak English. Luckily I can speak Chinese. So I used Chinese to ask reasonable questions about one of the flowers such as how long it will last and how often it needs to be watered. The shopkeeper immediately told me she does not have time to answer any questions unless I bought the plant and left me to prepare some bouquets. Seriously? I told her that I needed to know how much care the plants need to decide whether or not to buy it. I tried asking again how often the plant needs to be watered and she IGNORED me. I then asked her if she was going to answer my question because I was not going to buy a plant without being informed. She said that there's nothing she could do about it and she can't tell me anything about the plant except the price unless I first buy it. I left because I am not going to give my business to a person who runs their company in such a hostile manner. I have never been to a store that would not answer questions about products without a purchase. This is absolutely ridiculous and I am writing this review so that people will not waste their time coming to Chinatown (unless you want to buy a plant without knowing anything about it). read more

Do you hate stores where the sales staff shadow you and try to draw merchandise to your attention? Then you will love Li Xing Florist -- because you will be totally ignored as you browse. No matter how often I've stopped in, the shopkeeper has a card table set up; he and his pals always seem to be gambling or loudly arguing in Chinese. Since the rickety card table commandeers most of the space, you will bump into the gamblers as you handle the potted plants, try to read labels, and compare jasmine specimens and assess budding capability. Don't worry. They won't care about your presence as long as you don't try to peek at the cards. ATMOSPHERE: 1950-ish no-frills decor and a funereal lighting set-up straight out of Charles Dickens' time-stood-still bedroom for Miss Havisham PRICES for PLANTS: orchids and blooming clivia (in season) are great bargains; jasmine prices are level with other local vendors; substantial fruit trees offer good value. Clivia in bloom will sell for $25 here ($75 + up elsewhere) . . . pricing as of 2012 and 2013. I purchased a plant around Chinese New Year, the store was very crowded. I immediately selected the plant I wanted and asked for the price. The woman running the store said 26, stuttered, and said 36. $36 for this plant seemed ridiculous. But, I needed it in a hurry, so I went ahead and purchased it. The place is cash only, and I handed her forty dollars. She gave me one dollar in change. I told her she told me the price was 36, and she hesitantly gave me the other four dollars. The plant is basically dead. I will never return to this establishment, and I suggest you look elsewhere too. read more

I knew I had to write a praiseful review of this little shop the minute I exited the door. Upon approaching the shop, I found myself in front of pomegranite, citrus, figs, tea leaf trees and herbs . I was taken by the exocticness of it all. Upon entering I knew I had found a hidden gem. This place is by far the best shop I have found in all of NYC for orchids. They often carry genera not found locally anywhere else. Although their inventory varies, These often include Asian Cymbidiums, Paphiopedilums, Angraecum, cycnodes, and unusual varieties of the more common oncidiums, and phaleanopsis just to name a few, all jam packed into a store smaller then a common quicky-mart. As if that wasn't enough, their year round selection of citrus, tea plants, and medicinal herbs is also another superb reason to pay them a visit. Although the staff speaks little English, they are all very warm, welcoming and very knowledgeable on cultivation techniques. After reading these reviews, I was quite skeptical to come here, but I needed somewhere quick and close by and honestly it wasn't even that bad. The place itself is small but you'll definitely spot it outside with all the plants and flowers on the sidewalk. Once I walked in, the tiny store completely smelled of flowers and roses which was nice. I was greeted by a guy right away asking me what I'm looking for, I told him just a single rose and he said sure and gestured the lady in the back. She was quick and nice. Not nice-nice where it's 5 star service but she did her job; asked me what I wanted, got it, wrapped it. $2 for a single long stemmed rose (she'll ask you how long you want to cut the stem) and $3 if you want little white flowers along with the rose. It was quick and the rose was really pretty (smelled good too). And yes, the lady only speaks Chinese (Mandarin or Fujinese) but the guy knows a little English. All in all, it's a good place for flowers; everything in the store looked really nice (I can't comment on the pots and prices of those). But if you don't know Chinese and you're expecting 5 star service look elsewhere. read more

The lady in this shop is the sweetest! I needed a bouquet, but didn't find any when I initially stepped in, so I asked her if she can make me one on the spot. She happily said, "Of course! Just pick the flowers you like!" I immediately asked her for a price for some roses, different colors of carnations, and some baby's breath. She gave me a reasonable price range depending on how many of each I was choosing. I told her I wanted 6 pink roses to start. She took some roses out and asked me to choose the ones I like. "It doesn't matter which ones. I'm not picky," I told her. Her reply was, "Ok, I'll pick all the best ones for you then." That was so sweet of her! She really took her time choosing as I went on to select a dozen carnations (red, yellow, and pink). She carefully combined everything together while adding baby's breath where needed and some leaves. She topped it off with a nice wrap and a beautiful triple bow. All the while, she was engaging in conversation with me (in Cantonese, of course). She was kind and soft spoken. It reminded me so much of one of my aunties. DO NOT EVER SHOP AT THIS STORE! THEY ARE THIEVES! I bought a potted plant and asked them to recommend a ceramic pot to contain it. I asked for them to be delivered, and paid extra. After they were delivered, I realized the ceramic pot was too small to contain the plant. So I called and asked for it to be returned or exchanged. I asked questions about a plant. She picked up the plant from the floor and showed me how they looks like, then she put the plant back to the floor. So I can put the plant Into a new plant holder when I get home. She asked me what I want without looking at me. I told her that I need some suggestions but she totally ignored me. There was no customer were at the store when I was there. Really bad customer service! I decided to leave the store and spend my money to other place where I feel welcome.
