Lian Wang, like many other restaurants of the same nature, offers the same thing that every other carry-out Chinese restaurant offers. I am in no way saying that that is a bad thing. In fact, I am a lover of these hole-in-the-wall style restaurants. Servings tend to be large and prices more than affordable. Lian Wang is no different. Situated in a strip mall in that strange area between Creve Coeur and Pekin known as... North Pekin... Lian Wang serves up your typical fast Chinese. With a menu that you've seen at a million other Chinese restaurants, you'll more than likely find what you are looking for without much issue. Having been here a few times since 2013, I can say that the food and service are great upon repeated visits. The person that took my order was the same each time and she started to get what I wanted down to a 'T'. While I stand aside and wait for my food to come out, I notice that the cashier has half of the area's orders memorized. Almost each customer that came in was offered with the remark of "the usual"? Now that is quite the memory. Like I said, Lian Wang offers nothing new or exciting but that is exactly what you get with these kinds of places. This is the closest Chinese place to my dad's and he frequents here a lot. It's not my favorite. The crab rangoons has way too many green onions in it. The egg rolls have sooo much cabbage and its barely cooked on top of that so its just a bunch of raw crunchy cabbage in a fried wrapper. The chicken in my chicken and broccoli had a weird consistency to it. It also had no flavor. The lo main was ok once you add soy sauce to it. read more

My fiance and I ordered dinner for his daughter and the food was undercooked stale and had hair in the egg rolls.. the crab Rangoon was so nasty all grease inside barely any of the crab and cream cheese mixture. the chicken curry was basically Ramen noodle seasoning and when we talked to the manager he was very argumentative and wasn't the least bit concerned about his customers well being apparently.. highly do not recommend ordering from this place read more

The Mongolian Beef was terrible. It was too much brown sauce and the steak tasted and smelled bad! We threw the whole thing in the garbage. The spring rolls were edible but not good. We will never go there again. Don't get takeout. read more

Love this chinese place. Best chinese food in pekin. They got all the chinese buffets in town beat by a landslide. Not the fanciest place but the food outweighs that. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant, and I love Chinese food. I use to live close to them and was there quite a bit. I moved to Arizona then came back to the area. What was the first restaurant I went to? It was Lian Wang. I usually get Shrimp Lo Mein. It was perfectly cooked and quite a few shrimp in there also. In fact more the other Chinese places. After reading other reviews, my wife and I were excited about trying this restaurant. It was indeed popular as a takeout place given most of the tables were occupied with people waiting for their takeout food. Also, the very friendly lady who runs the place was on a first name basis with many of those customers. The service was good, and the main lady running the place was very busy but quite friendly at the same time. However, the food that we received had no flavor. We got the Hunan Beef and pork fried rice. Both were very bland. Now, pork fried rice isn't usually bursting with flavor, but this truly had none. The Hunan Beef is usually a bit more flavorful, but it was also very bland. There is a sign at the counter where you order that indicates to tell them if you want your food spicy. We didn't want spicy so we didn't say anything. However, I now think if you want any flavor in your food, say you want it spicy. Bottom line, VERY friendly people, VERY bland food. I doubt if we'll be back. Makes me kind of sad. read more

Food is good. used to be my goto place to order food. a few bad experiences ruined it for me. I ordered a meal to be delivered that cost me $30 i thought that was crap but didnt say anything and ate my food anyways. We ordered again the next day for delivery the SAME EXACT order and it cost $19. I was furious that they charged me an extra $11 the night before. Then the food was not fully cooked, we called to inform them that i was given raw chicken and the lady who was on the phone started yelling at us saying she would not serve us again, we were just bad mouthing her food, and that we were bad for business. We ordered at least 3-4 times a month so i dont understand how we were bad for business. Never will order from here again. read more

I feel so bad rating this a 3 because inside was clean and the people were very friendly. The food i ordered was good and the vegetables in the dishes were very crisp but the actual spices in both dishes was lacking. My appetizer of Ramaki (bacon wrapped chicken livers and water chestnuts) was very good. If you like chicken livers then you will like this simple starter. The first dish ordered was Bean Curd Family Style. This was suppose to be a hot and spicy dish in an oyster sauce with veggies. The tofu at Golden Kitchen is alot better and this dish was far from spicy....actually absolutely no spice at all! Do they think Americans are total wimps on these things? Well, some are but put some spices in it if the menu calls for it. This is the same for my other dish Szechaun Chicken! No heat to it at all! Come on it says SZECHAUN people! There was not one pepper in it and i thought usually the chicken was crispy in this dish.?. The ingredients were fresh and everything was put together well but i just wanted more flavor and definitely heat! Just was expecting more. read more

Our favorite place for Chinese. We both had combo plates that included fried rice & spring roll. I had pork & Chinese vegetables and wife had cashew chicken. Both were delicious and good portions. I ordered delivery and was not allowed to use a $4 off coupon (if you order $25). My order was $40, the delivery took 45 minutes and I am one mile away from the restaurant. I have had much better food at other chinese restaurants. I complained to the delivery driver....so while I am eating the restaurant calls several times...I don't answer because I am eating....Later I call and they put me on hold...I hang up because I was just calling back...then they call 2 more times and never leave a message.
