Review Visit: December 16th, 2012 Jade Garden, or as the locals call in, 'Jah-day Gar-deen' (with a french accent). Maybe it is just my circle of friends that call it that, but it's a fun take on a pretty delicious Chinese restaurant. This one is a pretty well-known place in East Peoria that almost everyone has as it is not only delicious, but one of the few Chinese places to get food, up until recently. Being a local favorite among a lot of people I know, we decided to go there and get some food. At it's core, Jade Garden is your typical 'fast food Chinese place'. It has the dated light up menu, it has the giant paper menu and it has the kids running around. Now these aren't negative things. But if you never been to one of these places, those are the things you can expect. I can't remember this trip verbatim. We got there, ordered food and sat down. They were nice enough to bring our food out to us as we were seated around the corner from the cashier counter. Typically these places do not have a ton of seating and this place is the same, if not having a bit more than what I am used to. Now I have visited a lot of these style of restaurants and for the most part, they are all about the same tasting. But Jade Garden is a notch above. Not sure what the difference here is. Everything just tasted a bit better. Even my friends agreed that it was super good. Even on sub sequential visits, I have had great food. To wrap up the first visit though, we all enjoy a great meal and even hung out for awhile afterwards to relax, chit-chat and let the food settle. Since my first visit, East Peoria has acquired a Panda Express and a Jun's Chinese Restaurant (which has unfortunately closed). I am kind of jumping around here but Jade is a notch above your typical fast food Chinese place. If you find yourself in the East Peoria area and need some great Chinese, give 'Jah-day Gar-deen' a chance! The first two times I came here were mediocre at best, I decided to give it one last chance after I received terrible news and messed up cooking my dinner. Worst decision ever. I knew it probably wasn't going to be great being later in the evening. The chicken tasted and smelled microwaved, the egg rolls seemed to be double or tripled fried, and overall everything was inedible. They don't have nor offer traditional sauce options, and I have never received anything even close to decent customer service. I will never return, no matter how desperate I am. read more

Placed a To Go order on the spot. I think it was ready in 5 mins! Everything was fresh and still hot when I unpacked at home almost 30 min later. I ordered the egg drop soup, pork lo mein and the famous peanut chicken. She threw in free crab Rangoon (order total $22). Good sized portions, you get your money's worth. The peanut chicken was fantastic! Fried chicken cutlet, sliced then covered in a thick sweet sauce. it reminds me of sesame chicken. The lo mein was good and packed with pork; they do not skimp on the meat. Soup was ok, not much flavor. Looks like I found my go to Chinese restaurant in East Peoria. One of the oldest chinease places in East Peoria and have been going here for 20 years now.

Crab Rangoon always fresh and cooked perfectly never greasy. Have had lomein and several types of fried rice. All very good quality. But the reason I'm writing this and checking in is the hot and sour soup. I've tried this dish all around the USA. This is the BEST I've ever had. The flavors are perfectly balanced and the spiciness is just perfect. Huge chunks of mushrooms and a generous amount of carrot and cabbage. Absolutely delicious! Give these guys a try. This place has went behind so much! I just moved back from Florida and I used to go here all the time like 3 years ago and today we tried it the food tasted old! We had the peanut chicken and was hard and dry and the rice was super hard and we order the cashew shrimp and they gave us like 4 shrimps and the rest was celery and cashew. read more

Traveling for work a couple of weeks ago and happened on this place. One of the best Chinese restaurants I have ever gotten take out from. I wanted something with a lot of vegetables that was still spicy and flavorful so the woman taking my order suggested I have the Chicken with Vegetables and they would make it with Szechuan sauce. Talk about SERVICE, even during the Pandemic they are accommodating special orders!! I called ahead to place my order and the gentleman who answered had a little trouble understanding me. Nonetheless the food was great! I ordered the chicken with broccoli combination platter with a side of peanut sauce and chili sauce. It comes with a pork roll, which was really good with the peanut sauce. I highly recommend getting that as a side even though it is two dollars. The portions are very large and you get good value for the money. This is a decent Chinese takeout place for the Peoria area. My husband wanted to go here because they have a larger selection of vegetarian meals than the other Chinese places in the area. I had the chicken fried rice, which was OK but a little dry and bland. The egg roll was good. My husband had the home style tofu and he really enjoyed his meal. I was disappointed in the duck sauce. It appears to be homemade but it tastes different than I'm used to. I prefer the duck sauce that comes in the packets, they have them if you ask. I went back again and have the chicken with broccoli, which was good. As others have mentioned, you get a free order of crab rangoon if you spend over $10. read more

I used to think Jade Garden was the best Chinese food in the area but I haven't been there in awhile since I live about 30 minutes away. However today I decided I wanted to enjoy some good Chinese food. I called in my order and and they told me it would be ready in 20 minutes. I sent my son to pick the order but when he got there they told him they had no orders???? I called to try to figure out what happened the person that answered put one of the kids on the phone and he told me that I already picked up the order. I have been ordering from Jade Garden for years, almost ordered everything from the menu, and I have never been disappointed. I always call my orders in and they have never been wrong. I have eaten at many local Chinese restaurants in the area and Jade Garden blows them all away. They tell you the time up front and are almost always spot on for how long it will take.
