UPDATE (Aug 1): I wrote the initial review for this business ~5 years ago, and haven't really thought much about it since...until today. This afternoon I received three calls and two text messages, all in the span of ~10 minutes, from someone claiming to be Frank Schultz who has recently "partnered" with Liberty. The first text, which came from a number I didn't know, just said my name....which was pretty freaking creepy, to be honest. Following this weird onslaught of communication, I went on here to see what was up, and sure enough, there was a message posted yesterday to this review from the same "Frank," although it came from the account of "Chase M." the owner. Over the past couple hours, I have been involved in some very confusing communication with this person. The upshot (I think) is that they want to pay me $200 to take down or alter my review. I have taken screenshots of my phone (from the calls/texts) and messages (from here on Yelp), and will post them now. At this point, I honestly don't know whether this is someone who actually works for Liberty, or just an internet troll, but since this person posted from the owner's account and knows my (previous) address and phone number, I have to assume that this person is really with Liberty. If so, than holy hell. Contacting a customer in this manner is incredibly inappropriate, and while I do see some merit in contacting people with negative Yelp reviews and trying to make amends, this is ABSOLUTELY not how to go about it. To the higher ups at Liberty: if this person DOES NOT work for you, please contact me (in an appropriate and professional manner) and I will take this post down. If this person DOES work for you, seriously consider finding another employee, because this particular person (however well intended) is not suited for this job. *****SCAM ALERT*** do not fall for this scheme. Early May: $1700 estimate -Studio apartment worth of stufff. May 8th: $2100 visual estimate -- Here is where it starts. Once they had my belongings hostage, they upped the charges to almost -- $2800. -- What can I do at this point but suck it up and sign the paperwork? Oops, I should have told them to leave my stuff on the sidewalk and rented a Uhaul. Days and weeks go by and I'm told my stuff has shipped. 4 days after being told this I call for an update. "Mistake in the office" stuff hasn't shipped yet. *manager yells at me and blames me for their blunders when I call to ask for an update around 5 PM on a weekday. He wanted to go home for the day and could not be bothered. 2 days later I hear the truck broke down. Week later "there was an issue in Utah." During this time I took 3 days off of work because employees from the company chose to continue to tell me to be available rather than checking in with their driver. *3 weeks after pickup - after not hearing from anyone from the company for 48 hours, to the point I thought my stuff was stolen, I was greeted on the phone by the manager of 13 years who screamed and yelled at me, threatened to bring my stuff back to NY and refused to allow me to email or call the owner of the company. Now it is June. My belongings arrived after another $350 charge because the amateur driver they sent couldn't make a right turn. Think this is bad? Just getting started. I paid extra money to make sure the movers packed a few choice items including my TV and 3 pieces of furniture my father built before he died. All 4 were broken. All 4. It's not cool that they smashed my tv after promising to pack it "as if you bought it new" but who cares? My dead father's furniture is broken. He built it with his own hands and then died. Now it is broken. One piece was literally snapped in half. Again, I paid extra money to make sure these were packaged well. They were not. I spent the next 2 hours crying on my floor holding the pieces of my dead father's furniture in my hands. *Conclusion: over $3400 to move a studio apartment's worth of things after a quote of half the price. Absolutely no professionalism whatsoever at any level in the company. Cared more about covering themselves legally than taking care of my most precious belongings.48 hour disappearing acts. Run away from this company! We paid for packing and moving. The packers were to arrive Friday to pack us by 10:00am. They arrived at 4:00 and left at 5:30 completing only about 20% of the job. Then asked for a 20% tip. The next day, three people showed up with a Penske rental truck. Asked for a 20% tip before they started. At about noon, they advised my furniture wouldn't fit on their truck. That I would have to make plans for another service to complete the job. I called the company dozens of times and left urgent messages with no reply. After threats and yelling, another truck showed up at 6:00pm. They kept asking if everything needed to go, that there was no room etc. then they couldn't get a couch out of the house. I insisted it got in the house and it can get out if you take the legs off. After destroying my hallways, they finally took the legs off. The moved was completed around 10:30 pm when it should have been done by 4. Monday delivery, not all of our things arrived. We were told another truck would come later in the week. There was no order to unpacking, no checklist as to what was in the truck and what was not. They left the furniture wrapped in blankets and left. Wednesday came and another truck came. It proceeded to breakdown and flood the street with oil. These movers told me they were just dropping it off in the driveway. After calls to HQ they relented and moved the furniture in the house. Our $1,400 lamp was snapped in half and our R&B dinning chairs crushed. Eventually a technician showed up at midnight to fix their truck and they left. Friday, I received a call from my voicemails on previous Saturday to ask how they could help. I still have furniture wrapped in blankets three weeks later. The insurance claim came in at $2.67. Yes, two dollars. I have moved all around this country and this is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with! I will continue to fight this company to warn others about this terrible company. Many of his friends used this company but because they were only able to guarantee transport of our goods in a 3 week time window, I stayed with Liberty. I confirmed with Derrick once again that the move would arrive by 9/20 give or take a day or 2. -A week or 2 before my move, I began packing and had questions about extra charges for adding additional boxes, etc. 5 more boxes increased my total $75, to $1575, which I thought was fair. - DAY OF MOVE: Movers came and initially everything was going fine. Guys were pleasant. Packing was OK -- They did wrap everything up in blankets but the tape was wrapped around some of my furniture and lifted the paint/ st ., and also found out they dented one of our cabinets. - After loading the truck, the guy said the cost was now $3000! based on the square footage of the truck that we used. Almost double the original quoted price!!!!!!!!!!! Mind you, all I added at the last minute was a piece of unframed art and a few empty plastic bins, which they assured me would not increase the price substantially. I was so upset I called my husband and they dropped it $100.!!!! This after they "strongly suggested" I give them a $300 tip in cash so they give me further discounts. - Plus, if we paid by credit card, they charge 3% on top of it. And the second half was due on cash or money order at the time of drop off. -Emailed Derrick because calling him was not possible. Zach the owner was supposed to call me several times and nothing!! - So the day they're supposed to drop stuff off in our new apt they don't show. I called them and was told it would take 48 hours and that I would get a confirmation call back...NADA! I call again the next day and speak to the driver and he tells me i'm going to get it on Friday but I got very angry and told them i paid for family to fly down to help with the moving. - Finally, they drop stuff off 2 days later, and I had to rent a UHAUL truck because the driver didn't want to bring the truck into the apartment complex. Yelp moderators deleted my review. This is my first hand experience with this liberty movers. Pls don't delete this. I used them to move my 1 bed room apt from PA to NC on May 6. phone operator( Jack) said there is another pick near my area and will get good deal. And also said my motorcycle can transported. During the pickup, it was 23' budget truck and not liberty movers label on it. they said I have more stuff and explained how and why. But there was no proper measurements done for the exceeded amount. so cost increased by $380. Packing was good and quick. Loading my bike was into a budget 23 ' truck. This truck had a lift table. They asked for 60% of total cost after loading. They didn't have card swipe machine. I had no cash. So another guy called me asking me to send a picture of my check through email. So I did. They encashed it. Signed bunch of papers, including the new change in cost, remaining payment will be only through postal certified check or cash upon delivery. Wondered why. Delivery: total chaos. Liberty movers give this job to other truck contractors. two guys come to my apt with a 53' truck trailer which was half filled. They claimed this 53' truck can't make turn. So they asked me $500 to unload and move to my first floor apt. Called liberty, they said it's my problem. it's not their responsibility. Liberty guy negotiated the price with truck guys for $250...lol. they start unloading and they didn't have the lift table in the 53' truck. So they wanted my Harley hand lifted onto a bed of sheets on the floor . Then the wise guys asked me to rent a uhaul. So realizing this such a SNAFU. I decided to get uhaul which had a ramp. So these 2 truck guys moved my Harley from 53 feeter to uhaul truck and then I drove it down to the ground from uhaul. They finally get my stuff into my new apt. Wise guys were asking me for a knife to open the wraps. so o had to unbox to find a knife and give them. One guy uses my bathroom , uses paper towel and leaves in my kitchen. Nice touch. Successful moving day! The guys from Liberty Moving were great! Derrick set it all up over the phone and as promised all went smoothly! 3 professionals showed up 10 mins early and ready to go! The team of Nazier, Mikey and Andrew were fantastic! They never once complained about what I know was a tough move! These guys had their own system and just GOT IT DONE! They use 3rd party companies to drive your stuff, their website clearly says they dont do that. Plus all of my stuff was busted and there were a lot of kissing items that nobody can find. Not only was the Flat rate prices I was given wrong it became double as soon as all my stuff was loaded on the truck then the driver started to negotiate what a joke contract says 47 boxes then they say that's small boxes then they play a fuel surcharge game and then they hit you with your stuff is heavy so there is a weight charge. I will admit it was my fault for not seeing the red flags from the first moment when they called me... I quoted online a move across country and a guy named Derrick called me very politely and friendly telling me that they had a truck leaving to CA (my destination) the next Thursday morning, and it would arrive at the date I needed or even earlier (first red flag, creating a sense of urgency). When Derrick called me I was with my mother returning from her chemo session so I guess my mind wasn't that clear at that moment and I did override the red flag, my fault. At first Derrick quoted me $1300 all included. On a second phone call we added some more stuff so the price went up to $1550. Ok, still good (remember, if it seems too good to be true it IS too good to be true, second red flag). The next day (May 16th) the movers arrived with a rented truck from Budget (another red flag). They were fast and efficient although they left a mess on the floors. It was a rainy day so we thought "ok, they are working, whatever, we'll mop" but the price went from $1550 to $2300 because "we were using more space in the truck" (the rented truck from Budget, remember?), another red flag. Of course at that point everything was packed and loaded into the truck so my mother signed the paperwork and reluctantly paid. The nightmare started on May 24th when my mother received a voice mail telling her that the delivery was going to be delayed because the truck was still in NJ. She called back and talked to a person who identified as "Zack" and who apparently was the dispatcher. She explained to him that it was imperative for us to get our stuff at the date promised by them (by Derrick, remember?) because the things we were moving were my grandmother's entire bedroom and her being 96 years old, and with severe dementia, needed to have her stuff at her new place, otherwise she would get really anxious and afraid because she couldn't relate to her new place as "home" despite being with our relatives in CA. Zack didn't care at all about this and kept saying to her that we needed to read the contract and that they had 21 business days to deliver the things (funny thing the contract says that "no oral arrangements or promises are valid", thanks for lying, Derrick!). We even offered to go to their warehouse with a Penske truck and pick up OUR belongings and get a refund to which Zack laughed and kept saying that that was not possible and we needed to read the contract. So this company not only lies over the phone to get a sale but once you pay them they don't care how or when your belongings will arrive and tell you to refer to the contract fine print, even when they are not keeping their word and are keeping a 96 years old lady and a chemotherapy patient hostages of their lack of professionalism. A simple BBB, Yelp and Google search and you will read mostly horror stories with this joke of a company, too bad I didn't read them before hiring them. read more

Horrible - Do not use - Total negligence. The sales people are real nice and sell you the world until they get your belongings on their truck. My mouth dropped when they opened the truck at the destination, I could not believe that anyone would have just disregard for someone;s personal belongings. The furniture was just thrown in there, upside down turned sideways. Sitting on top of boxes totally crushing them. 90% of the boxes were crushed in some way. Almost 70% of the furniture was broken or damaged. There was another customers belonging on the truck also that they had to move out of the way to get to our stuff, they took their mattresses threw them in the dirt on the driveway, tossed their boxes around until they could get around it. We will be taking Liberty moving to small claims court - they offered a ridiculous settlement of $150. We paid almost $4,000 for a one bedroom apartment to be moved. They were EXTREMELY difficult to communicate with, and when we did finally get someone on the phone, we received incorrect information. Let's title this review Stunned and Stuck. My true rating is a minus ZERO. I chose LIBERTY MOVING GROUP based on recommendation. My instinct told me no, and for that I take full responsibility for not listening to myself. It started with Jack. Jack seemed like a nice person, but he struggled to hear and type, and I spent a significant amount of time repeating myself. I provided Jack with my inventory and was quoted about approx. $3200, although no one ever came to my home to inspect the inventory. I called Jack hours later to add to my inventory and my price went up to $3600. Jack told me I would be called 24 hours before the move. My move was scheduled for April 11th. My lease was up April 13th. Not receiving a call on the 10th, I reached out to Jack. Jack told me my move was cancelled. I was stunned. I reminded Jack I had paid my security deposit. After several pecks on his keyboard Jack found my contract and informed me the moving team would call me later that day and they did. The movers arrived 45 minutes early. Great! Ten minutes into reviewing my inventory I realized I was stuck. Jack failed to add several items to my inventory totaling an additional $1000. I was stunned to the point I informed the mover I was struggling to comprehend what he was explaining because I felt like I was being "nickeled and dimed." Initial estimate on space was 658 cf. Day the of the move ct 810. My bicycle was packed in a way that extended the ct. I was numb. I just stood there dumbfounded and unable to speak. So, I just nodded. The mover said he would try to help me by not charging me the $276.66 for packing material that is however if I was willing to give his guys a "tip." Again feeling stuck, I gave the packing material fee as a tip. A few minutes later I was told I would be charged an additional $75 once my items reached it's destination because of the stairs. I was then charged a 3% surcharge ($109) because I used a credit card. I paid $3630.60 with the understanding I would be required to pay the remaining balance of $907.65 upon delivery. I received my items today and was charged an additional $175 because the movers had to walk more than 75 feet to my freaking door. And, the icing on the cake...The movers drilled holes through my dining room table while reassembling it. I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN AND I WILL BE REPORTING THIS TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU!!! read more

A gal pal recommended this mover and, based on her rave reviews, I did not do my due diligence and consult Yelp. A HUGE and COSTLY mistake for me!! Liberty sent one semi-experienced mover and TWO very young INEFFICIENT and INEXPERIENCED "movers", so basically, a one-man crew. What should have been a FIVE HOUR move turned into a NINE HOUR move and was the "SINGLE WORST AND MOST STRESSFUL MOVE OF MY LIFE" (thanks for the quote, Brian G.)!! The sales rep hugely underestimated the quote. I've already mentioned the TWO INEXPERIENCED and INEFFICIENT movers. The crew showed up with lots of tape and blankets, but refused to wrap any of my furniture (antiques and a pristine white mattress/box spring) in blankets before moving the stuff down two flights of stairs. Needless to say, when my furniture arrived at the destination, it was broken, chipped, soiled -- 2-inch chunk of wood broken off the corner of my antique oak buffet and wood doors chipped and marred, leg ripped off my cedar chest, 4-inch wood strip torn off my antique hutch, pristine white mattress, now an ugly grey mattress. I sent the sales dud photos of my damaged furniture while the "movers" were still unloading the truck, but he refused to negotiate the fee down to offset the damages. I was in my new house with no furniture with a two year old for over a month. I've never called a company so many times or left so many angry voice mails. I was ignored and passed off to several different employees whom had no idea what they were doing. I threatened this company so many times. Please go with anyone else! I wish I could give this company zero stars, they don't even deserve one star. Liberty Moving made my move more stressful and chaotic then it needed to be. Please save yourself and go with another company. Here was my experience: I had extremely well made and durable furniture that needed to be moved from Rhode Island to San Francisco. I was on short timeline and they pushed back my furniture pick up date twice. I requested my furniture to arrive on Saturday (the 14th) and they never called to let me know it would arrive a week later. On the 19th I was called by the movers on Thursday and was told my items would arrive the 21st between 8am-noon. They told me they would call an hour before to let me know. At noon on the 21st, after not receiving any call, I called the movers and they said 2pm. At 2:30pm I called he dispatcher and told him my stuff still wasn't there. At 5:30 the movers finally arrived, charged me $200 extra to use a UHAUL instead of the 18 wheeler. I inspected all my items once moved in and every single one was Damaged and scratched (see pictures). Please note: Their movers (in Rhode Island) were the people that wrapped up and packed all the furniture. Then the mover got into an altercation with the dispatcher and was yelling in my apartment and being very unprofessional. When the movers were taking off the plastic from my mattress, he cut himself and bled all over my mattress. He never told me or asked me for a paper towel or napkin. I am disgusted with the company from the dispatcher to the movers and the way they treat their customers and their possessions. Buyer Beware! Consumers do NOT hire this group to assist in moving your belongings. I was called and was told about how LMG was #1 and they had so many happy clients. I went through the usual routine of cataloging all of my belongings that were going to be moved. I asked if there was any kind of extra fees or anything else that I should expect, the rep said no, and assured me that the cost quoted was it and there weren't any additional costs. The movers arrived an hour late, and once I led them to my apartment, the first thing they said was that there would be an additional cost of over 100 dollars. I told him about the reps agreement. He then asked me to call the rep - surprise surprise - the rep wasn't in. After signing some papers we went through all that was supposed to go, well after they had left I found several boxes that were labeled that missed the truck. Very bad service, would give you a lowest quote to start with but eventually you will land up paying higher than the others in the market. Would not come to your house to assess the stuff and on the day of movement would say you stuff is much more than expected and would leave you will not choice but to pay more.. Don't go by the rating from other websites, avoid if you can. For bad rating they would justifying saying that some people in their organization got fired and are trying to spoil the image. I really need to speak with you as soon as possible tomorrow morning. I would like for you to please contact myself and I will need to have my husband also conferenced in during the conversation. I am very sorry to say that this is in my top two if not my very worse experience ever dealing with movers. Your persons showed up an hour late, were exceptionally slow, took a dinner break, made personal phone calls, used my rest room. The packing job was horrible and I am sick to think what condition my things if they even arrive in Indiana are going to be in. When I spoke to you, I understood that you did not broker out moves and if these are your employees I think you need to take a closer look at the work performed. I feel exceptionally harassed when they asked me for a tip and I was informed that they would take a personal check from me or I could walk at this hour to an ATM and get them 200.00 tip per person.... I had given them each 40.00 even though I had these concerns. I do not even want to think about how they could have behaved had I given them nothing. I was asked for more money than the deposit we discussed again earlier today and was again feeling very harassed by them and had to several times say No, and that if there is a balance it will be paid in Indiana. I called you today to request and I feel pay a premium price for two bed covers for my king size bed and frame and two boxes for my two lamps. Well, my bed was poorly wrapped in shrink wrap and drug around the apartment and my two lamps were placed in one box. They removed the lights bulbs and just left them in my bedroom. I did offer them some things that I was throwing away but after they took a mattress and several chairs I was asked for my vacuum cleaner and when I told them it was going to a friend, again I was harassed and told that I should basically be giving it to your movers. I was asked to sign paper work that was blank. I felt forced to have to write statements and sign documents that I was totally uncomfortable doing but was being bullied. I am literally shaking and getting sick over this move and your movers. I will be totally honest with you. I had a company move significantly more things from Indiana to here 7 months ago, they did the packing, unpacking in two days and I paid them less money than I am being asked for on this move. The gentleman at my front desk remembers my last movers and how professional and quick they were and made the comment from his observation of your employees that I will probably be lucky if I get my things back in the condition that I had them in my apartment. I have never had such a horrible experience moving. I worked with Derrick from Liberty Moving Group for this move. I was very nervous about choosing a moving company as we were taking everything we owned from Brooklyn, NY to Seattle WA. And I was so afraid of getting scammed; of picking the "wrong" movers. Well, I did just that. Derrick was unable to come to the apartment (a one bedroom brownstone) to give us an estimate but sent me an inventory list which I filled out to the letter. He originally gave me an estimate of $5100 but on the day of the move that price went up to $6800! What could we do? We had plane tickets, no apartment and no time to find a new mover. So, we sucked it up and paid the extra amount. Our experience in Seattle was terrible. We had paid extra ($500) to have our items guaranteed for a delivery date between June 18-20. I told Derrick I thought this was too quick given our items were not picked up until June 15th, and he said that if they were late, it would only be by a couple of days and that they would refund our $500. We did indeed receive the $500 refund because the moving truck was almost 2 weeks late! I had to call every day to find out where the truck was and was given an excuse every time "Oh, there was a 2 day hold-up in Nebraska because the people moving weren't ready"; "Oh, the driver got pulled over and arrested for an unpaid ticket in Oregon" (!). The driver finally called us on June 30th indicating he would be to our home on the afternoon of July 1. July 1, noon, came and went and no driver. I called him only to be told he was still in Portland as that delivery had taken more time than expected, but he would be to us by July 2, Saturday. Saturday came and went and when I called again, he said, he was so sorry, they were indeed in Seattle but wouldn't be able to get to us until late in the evening so they would deliver first thing on Sunday. Sunday morning came. No driver. My husband called and the driver said he was 30 min away. An hour later, he finally arrived. When I first set this up with Derrick, he assured me that we would have a seamless transition and that our move would be handled form "start to finish" with Liberty Moving Group. Liberty Moving Groups did indeed move us out of our Brooklyn apartment and the crew were nice, sufficient and clearly from Liberty Moving Group company, they arrived in a LMG truck and had LMG shirts etc. The crew in Seattle arrived in a small unmarked box truck that was obviously rented in Seattle and the crew were clearly from day labor and were not professional movers. The driver had to direct them on how to move our bed upstairs (which didn't fit with all our other things on the small box truck they rented so they had to go back for it). Before the driver left, we realized we were missing at least 2 boxes and as two of the boxes had 2 number stickers on them, it is likely we were missing four boxes. We told the driver about the missing boxes and he basically said there wasn't anything he could do about it, these were the boxes he was given and if we had a problem we should notify LMG which we did immediately. However, given that the day labor movers tried to bring in numerous items and boxes that didn't belong to us, I wouldn't be surprised if they misdelivered our boxes to someone else in Seattle or on route. Upon unpacking our items, we had irreparable damage (a puncture hole of some sort) to our dining room table (which they boxed and wrapped), and significant damage to my husband's bicycle which the movers in Brooklyn never wrapped at the warehouse like they said they would. We filed a claim through LMG insurance company. Because we didn't opt for the "extra insurance" the items were only covered at .$61 per pound. How they can determine how much something weighed when the price they charged us was by cubic foot is something I don't understand. We finally got an offer through the insurance company for $54. An absolute disgrace and a scam in every sense of the word. Thankfully, we had renters insurance which covered much of what we lost (almost all our kitchen items, all our DVD's), but some of what was lost can't ever be replaced like our son's first year refrigerator art. We will never, ever get that back. It is irreplaceable. All in all this was a huge lesson for us and one that cost us more money than we bargained for, more time then we remotely anticipated and the loss of things we will never get back. I would never recommend Liberty Moving Group. I deeply regret the day I trusted Derrick and Liberty Moving Company to take care of our precious items. Worst moving company to have your household or anything move. This nightmare started with Representative Jack (who claimed to own the company) I should of went with my gut instinct and hung the phone up on him. But I didn't he stated the items I wanted move would cost me $1400, then $1895. If you cancel within 3 days before the move it would cost ($500 per the contact) So with that being said By the time the truck was loaded it was $3150. Well I was extremely upset. The Office Manager ( who claimed to be the owner) gave me $200 off the total, but I think they already padded in the total cost. Because they charge you for (extra boxes and tape, and blankets) Which when all said and done was the total of $3150. Well after waiting approx 18days (it sat in warehouse in NJ) I finally received my stuff today. My 50inch Vizio Plasma tv screen was shattered ( it was wrapped in 1- blanket, and tape in 2- cardboard boxes ) to make matters worst the office manager (claiming to be owner) tried to blame the moving truck guys delivering my stuff. And claim to have seen him drop it in front of him when they were loading the truck. He Offered to pay me $300 or file a claim-and receive a lot less back. Because insurance company will try and replace it. If you Read your contract prior to signing it you will get less. Allow me to add my warning voice to the chorus of sadly disappointed and ripped off customers... DO. NOT. USE. THIS. COMPANY!! My wife called and spoke w a man named "Frank" who chatted with her for over an hour! I remember saying, "He sure must not be very busy if he can chat for an hour during his work day, but whatever works..." She was quoted a price of $1,100 to move the contents of our small apartment. Meanwhile, Frank engaged her to tell him more about our situation including the fact that we had only one day to move since we were not able to close on our new house in time with the end of our apartment lease. Frank understood we were under a very tight timeline and he assured my wife that everything would be fine and that his company could handle it. Frank even told my wife that his wife suffered from the same disabling condition that my wife does and commiserated about the crippling effects of the dreaded condition that has permanently incapacitated my wife. In short, he lured her in and established trust, only to use that trust against us. Despicable! If I'd only known the night before when I called to confirm our move and was assured it was a go for September 1, 2016. The morning came, and we were ready. Ready for our big move to our dream house. We were happy for the first and last time that day when the truck pulled up at 7:45 am, fifteen minutes early! Then something strange happened. Only one person got out of the truck. The man who got out of the truck, who identified himself as "B", told me he needed to come into our apartment and "talk to me about the job". I told him we needed him to move our things, and if he wanted to talk about it, that was fine, but we needed him to do the job as we had discussed with Frank. He said, "We need to see what we will be taking and what we will be leaving here". I explained that we were not leaving anything, we were moving out... completely. He insisted he come inside to talk to me, and I was fine with that. The moment he stepped into our apartment, he said the job was going to be much more than we had been quoted. He hadn't even stepped foot outside of the living room and he said, it's going to be at least $2,200 (double our quote from Frank). It was obvious that B had been told that we had only one day to move and that he had been instructed to take full advantage of a rather desperate situation. The rest of the crew didn't even get out of the truck! I have to say, though, that the look of shock on his face when I told him get out of our apartment was priceless. It was so apparent that he believed he could take advantage of us that he truly didn't know what to do when I told him we wouldn't be using their service and that it was time for him to leave. Then he wanted to call his supervisor. He dialed the phone but since he wasn't speaking English it was impossible for us to know what he was saying. When his call was over, he maintained that the move would cost at least double our quote and I told him in no uncertain terms that I wanted him out of our apartment and I wasn't going to ask him again. On his way out, he was sure to inform us that we would lose our deposit, which is typical of a company with unscrupulous business practices and did not surprise me at all. We needed to scramble to find another mover, and we are very glad we did, as we found an excellent service with dedicated, professional employees who did the job for the price that was quoted and did not charge one penny extra. The first thing I did was look at the Yelp reviews of Liberty Moving Group and I was incredibly disappointed in myself for not having done so sooner. One disaster review after another is posted and many have company replies stating that the user has been "flagged". I've been on Yelp for quite a while and I'm not aware of any process by which a user can "flag" another user. Then they claim that the reviews are "fake". Do they really think that people have time to go online and post "fake" reviews, just to ruin their business? Pathetic! Of the NINE reviews posted, EIGHT of them are ONE STAR! But you can look for yourself and see that what I'm saying is completely true. So I will end the tale of this pathetic and sad company the way I began it... DO. NOT. USE. THIS. COMPANY!! They are scammers who try to take advantage of people on tight deadlines. It's a classic "bait and switch" routine! DO NOT USE LIBERTY MOVING GROUP!!! My fiancee and I moved from Washington DC to Logan, UT. I was dumb, and entered my information online to solicit bids from moving companies. Liberty Moving submitted the lowest bid by far, so I contracted with them - AND IT RESULTED IN THE SINGLE WORST AND MOST STRESSFUL MOVE IN MY LIFE. And that's saying a lot, because I've moved 9 times in the last 10 years!!! They showed up COMPLETELY unprepared on the day of the move - no packing materials, no idea where our stuff was supposed to go, no idea when we could expect to receive our stuff. They doubled their estimate on spot - at that point, what could we do? We'd already bought our plane tickets, etc., etc. They then, apparently, shipped everything from DC to New Jersey, and waited a couple of weeks for another truck that happened to be going from New Jersey out west, loaded our stuff on that random truck, and then sent our stuff on its way. It, literally, took over 1 month for our stuff to arrive!!! Every time I would call Liberty, they would give me the run-around, and claim that something was going on with the driver, they would try and call the driver later today, etc., etc. They NEVER actually called the driver, even once. They NEVER actually followed through on anything. In fact, the entire time, I felt as though they were simply holding our stuff hostage. And, what can you do? Call the police on them? They have all your stuff. And you signed a contract. What recourse do you have as a consumer? What I've since learned is that there are VERY DISREPUTABLE, CORRUPT MOVING COMPANIES OUT THERE, LIBERTY BEING ONE OF THEM, that are nothing more than shell companies. These companies send out estimates online to unsuspecting consumers. And their bids are ALWAYS entirely low-ball unrealistic, just to get you to sign a contract. Once they have you on the hook, they subcontract to other random truckers. They'll use the subcontractors to pick up the stuff from your place, move it to some central warehouse, where they then aggregate everything, and wait for any truck that happens to be going in the direction that your stuff needs to go. If they have to wait 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks, it doesn't matter to them. They'll wait for however long it takes for a random truck to be going in your direction. They will always lie to you when you call asking where your stuff is. They will tell you that it will take 1 week for you to receive your stuff, and then they will stall for the next 3 weeks. And when they tell you they're going to call the driver, they're lying, because the driver doesn't work for their company! It's just some random dude they subcontracted to! Anyway, I hope this review helps protect at least one person from falling for a moving scam, like what Liberty perpetrated on me. Protect yourself! I had very negative experience with this crew. 1. They promised they are experts in moving grand pianos. When arrived they said they do not know what "this black thing" in a corner is and how to deal with it. It cost us extra $500 to move the piano only. 2. Upon arrival they immediately claimed they need another person on top what we originally agreed. I told them I'll pay for extra time if necessary. Eventually they took extra 10 min over estimated time and charged me for 30, because they need to clean up - they were done in 3 min. Considering that our job was comparatively simple - no need to put anything on a second floor, most of the staff was going into basement since we are planning renovation and no really heavy pieces - they should have taken less time, and 4th person was not required at all. Crew leader was clearly upset I do not agree pay more than we originally agreed and was not shy about it. 3. At the last moment crew leader started to demand money for tolls they spend getting to and from our job (there were no tolls between origin and destination in our job) Overall I had extremely negative, felt violated by constantly pressed into paying more money. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY BY ANY MEANS! We had a move scheduled for today and they called us literally the day before the move date which was a Saturday (today actually) and told us they can't make it and didn't even give a valid reason! Are you f'ing kidding me?? They took a $160 deposit from us but then they freakin cancel on us and say they'll be able to do it the day after (which by the way we only figured out after calling literally 15 times an hour and a half after they were scheduled to arrive. They're unbelievably stupid and impossible to work with. Who quotes a customer an amount, schedules the date and then says they can't make it the day before he move?! If Yelp allowed me to give negative reviews I'd give these morons a -30! Update 8/3/2016 You NOT delivering your services was the problem! What kind of moving company calls the customer one day before they're supposed to move them and cancel and re-schedule to move them on another date?! We had a move out date of July 31st and you rescheduled us for August 5th?! People can't move on your schedule! Thanks to your company we had to literally scramble to find ANOTHER moving company to move us the day we found out (after calling you multiple times to finally get someone on the line and find out you "rescheduled" us). Then you have the audacity to constantly call and text my wife's cellphone and harass us and tell us you want to come to our new residence to "discuss the matter in person". What kind of logic is that?! Wouldn't it make more sense to actually do what we hired you to and actually move our stuff? I wish I could give them negative stars, they are so horrible. I gave them a chance in August 2014 because they convinced me they had rebuilt and all the negative old press was old news. They had new mgt, new drivers, etc. But, they are horrible. I cannot believe we had only a little breakage and limited damage. They charged me for packing materials but used almost none. They actually put 2 or 3 glass lamps and shades in boxes together without any protection and did not bother to tape these and many other boxes! I said I needed 8 wardrobe boxes and paid for these but they brought 2! And folded my leather, cotton, fur, in half or thirds and stuffed all my coats and clothes into smaller, non hanging boxes. So sloppy and unprofessional. Whats even sadder is they arrived without tools so needed my screwdriver to unhook the mirror from the dresser. Pathetic!!! read more

I'm a regular mover due to my work, so I've used the services of many other moving companies. I hired the services of Liberty Movers for the first time last week when staging an apartment in Jersey City and I rank their services as one of the better ones. With past moves and moving companies there was much stress involved because communication lacked and if I couldn't be present during the move, I had to constantly worry about my belongings. But when I met Ray with Liberty, I was instantly put at ease as he was in constant communication throughout, and made it clear that he was handling my move personally and I was in good hands. Dont listen to good reviews! I read alot of grand reviews with this company.. and they are all false.. Wish i could give 0 stars.. Never use this company.. like the post above me they are a bunch of low lifes.. I was told 7-10 days over the phone and by the driver who picked my stuff up.. 16 days later.. I have called atleast 6 times wondering where my stuff is.. and getting told "oh tomorrow" atleast 5 times. Horrible customer service.. I wish i didnt have to pay them. The driver drove past my location to a farther location.. than waited there for 2 days and didnt not drop my stuff off.. Im fed up with this and i feel like they stole my things. I have to call the driver every hour to mkae sure hes gonna drop my things off. Terrible Experience. Charged me excessively by making up total package volume, lost my boxes, broken items at delivery. Worst experience than any other moving experience. I would not recommend them at all. They sub contracted my delivery to at least 4 different movers and in the process lost my packages. They were late almost three weeks. one of the worse services. they lied me and charged me doubled. the sales person will talk to you in such a way and convince you that you do not need to pay any thing more then estimation or some time 10-15% more. but when there team come to your place to pickup there item they will arrange the item in truck in such a way that they will doubled the total volume what you received at the time of estimation . secondly, once your item reached to your home and by any how you find that you have been cheated they will not pick your phone. so makes sure to record the conversation ,take picture of the truck the driver and the picture of item loaded in truck and same at the time of unloading. make sure to transfer the item into Uhal truck to find the they have charged you for right capacity. read more
