I hired Adam to do my year end payroll taxes ($750). He stated that he would process the payroll on the 29th of December. On the 30th, I began asking for the confirmation/documents. On the 4th, as per the attached photo, he confirmed that it had been completed and that money would come out on the 7th. The 7th rolled around and nothing happened. Finally, on the 11th of January, Adam tried to actually do the payroll taxes, but at that point I didn't want to work with him, since he lied. He laughed and said I must have misunderstood. He blamed me, instead of admitting and apologizing for his negligence. Mistakes happen. Sometimes we take on more than we can chew. We're only human after all. It was the dishonesty that really made it impossible to work with Adam. If you're too busy to complete the task on the agreed upon time, communicate that truth to the client. Don't lie about it. Several days prior to the appointment, I received a voicemail requesting for submission of tax documentations for review. I followed the instructions and sent in the paperwork electronically. Upon arrival, I was greeted and led into the office to meet Adam. He is a nice guy and asked high-level questions to start while pulling up my email. My email was unread. Adam quickly scanned through my paperwork and mentioned that they were not complicated enough for his $600 personal filing fee. Thank god for his honesty because I'm not about to pay that much for an easy return. Adam asked what I was looking for and even offered to do my taxes with discount at $200 in return for a Yelp review lol. I politely declined and was given a link to file for free. Overall, I wish I had asked about the cost up front and shouldn't have taken Yelp reviews at face value. I'm just happy that Adam didn't do my taxes and charged me the $600. In the end, I was able to file my taxes elsewhere by another CPA. I required a tax professional and came across Adam Libman Tax Strategies! The reviews look great and I've always trusted yelp so I went down to his office and met with him. I showed up to my appointment promptly however was left in the waiting room for about 15 minutes. I had the opportunity to overhear his previous appointment upset about the disorganization and lack of accountability on the work product Adam was doing. As the previous client was leaving his office and upset about the money owed Adam offered him a small refund in exchange for a positive yelp review. This tactic seems to be disingenuous to the whole point of yelp reviews When was it my turn Adam kindly shoot me into his office and started asking me questions about my finances. As I was in process of answering his relatively high-level questions I couldn't help but notice the disheveled and chaotic office in which he conducted his business. I kept trying to pay attention to his questions all I could think of is I hope he's more organized with his work than he has his work surface. Adam is a very charismatic and kind salesman and I'm sad to say that I got suckered into using his service. Adam ended up putting me off to a subcontractor within his office and even further so subcontracted a data entry person for the accounting. Despite three rounds of letting his office try to do my books and finding countless mistakes, I met with Adam to unwind whatever services I had gotten myself into. I did ask for some money back but not all my money back to which he again asked me to give him a positive yelp review in exchange for the discount. Honestly, it was kismet founding Libman Tax Strategies via Yelp. With the Chinese New Year looming around the corner, I wanted to get my taxes done with a clean, debt-free conscious, and hopefully, a decent refund as well. However, I got more than I had bargained for... Parking and location: Spacious, free parking lot. Their building is right across from the Mercedes Benz dealership on North Santa Anita Street, and on the same side as Denny's. When I had first arrived into the office, their receptionist Nicole took all of my 2016 & 2017 tax documents for Adam Libman (the owner) to review over before meeting with me. As Adam took the paperwork, he said a quick hello to me, and headed back into his office. Afterwards, I was called in and ended up working with Ricardo, his associate first, before finalizing everything with Adam. Ricardo was nice, polite and professional. He entered in all of my tax information and answered any tax or 401K questions I had. Later on, Adam popped in to check on us, before his next client arrived. Once Ricardo was done entering in everything, I was shocked to find that I owed a lot for both Federal and State (alarms were going off in my head as to why AND how???!). Luckily, when it was time to meet with Adam, my frown turned upside down! Adam was quick to find a similar discrepancy that one of his previous clients had.
