Public library is an essential part of a community. It offers so many information resources many…read moreresidents often ignored. Foothill Ranch Library is among a handful OCPL locations that has a stand-alone community room. It is used for magic shows, music performances, classrooms, and a neighborhood vote center as needed. I only found out today that it hosts an ESL conversation meeting on the second and fourth Mondays every month led by Anna, a library staff. Today I checked out a printed book and an audio book on Japanese to study. Very grateful for these resources I can access for free.

It's a 20-30 min from Irvine but Ms. Rylee keeps the kids engaged and there are so many things to do. The beauty of this library is that there is a park in the same parking lot. If you ever come, story time is in the MPR separate from the library. There's ample space and stroller parking inside, as well as bathrooms.

They have self checkout stations but I'm old school and like to engage with the staff upon checkout. The computers truly need some deep cleaning. The copier alcove has a change machine, a bench, and table; located to the right of the checkout counter, just yards down the hall. Most heartening, a bin is dedicated to worn American flags (located to the right of the fireplace room). Other donation containers may sometimes include Marine donations and gently used purses. This library proudly displays local artists' artwork and changes it up from local schools. Most of the library books are in great shape and you can sometimes find multiple copies. Restrooms are located to the right immediately upon entering the library's automatic sliding glass doors; there are also restrooms near the adult non-fiction area. A little concerned that the parking lot is not clearly lit upon your exit of the library, if leaving after sunset.

I saw so many people studying and reading, I felt inspired to enjoy a good book. They have a genealogy section which has so much interesting information to explore! I got lost in their Civil War books too. I love the local artwork from high school and elementary students. An awesome way to showcase the creativity of students in the community. They have clean bathrooms and friendly staff. I'd come back.

The selection is much larger than most other libraries in the OC system and, as a voracious reader of nonfiction, they have much more on their shelves. The library is clean and well organized with comfortable seating here and there. They have multiple self checkout stations and helpful staff at the front counter. A self checkout station I recently attempted to use kept telling me the book I was trying to checkout didn't exist so I went to the counter where the kind fellow working quickly checked me out with no problem and mentioned they were aware of an intermittent issue with the code reader at one of the stations, likely the one I was using. Their restrooms are kept immaculate and they have a Friends of the Library store where used books can be purchased. Plentiful parking is available as it is located at the edge of a large shopping plaza; very convenient if I need to pick up a bottle of wine to go with a book.

RSM library is one of the newer (and larger) library in the OCPL system with a large collection of…read moreCDs, DVDs, and books. It has plenty of seats for reading and computer work. It is only one of the handful libraries that have self-checkout kiosks. I'm kind of old fashion and prefer seeing a librarian so I don't mess it up. The adjacent Friends of Library bookstore is open Monday through Saturday. It is one of handful places I can buy used books in South OC these days.

Katie Wheeler Library was built on a large property that has lush scenery. Ideal place to borrow a book and read at an outside picnic table. Take a stroll on the property to learn some City of Irvine history. According to the City of Irvine's website, the Katie Wheeler Library will be transitioned from a County facility to an Irvine Public Library in early 2026. It's located off Irvine Blvd. near the intersection of Jamboree and Irvine Blvd.

I loved seeing the sculpture that will be at Burning Man this year. The garden is on the smaller size for a botanical garden (some stuff was under maintenance while we were there) but the gardens were impeccable. My favorite part was all the dahlias. Stunning! Your entry ticket ($12 for adults) also includes admission to the library, which had a bonsai area and some fun history. We were able to easily find free parking nearby. All the staff was so friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the work. I definitely recommend this spot! Such a beautiful, relaxing space.

Beautiful still. We came the day before Mother's Day for the rose show. Looking forward to coming back when construction completes because at $5 admission that is kind of a rip for how much is there. It took us longer because I recognized someone at the rose show and my son is really into plants but for an average person I'd say 30-45 min is really how much is there right now until they finish the remodel

Of course you can have a book shipped from any OC library to one close to you but I was curious about the Tustin library, never having been there. I walked in and my first impression - it's HUGE. An enormous lobby with a large children's section to the right and a larger adult area to the left. The library was neat and well organized - I found the book within a minute. So I browsed around a bit and ended up getting a couple others too. On my way to check out my books I passed a classroom full of computers, and it appeared as though some sort of class had just adjourned. Other reviews mention it is a bit noisy here but I honestly didn't experience that on a weekday afternoon. Since I did self-checkout, I didn't interact with any of the librarians so I was unable to impress them with riveting conversation about the Dewey Decimal System.

when the irvine libraries split from the ocpl system, i ended up switching over to tustin since…read moreit's the closest location to me now. the location itself is really nice. it's in the civic center, so you've got the community center and police department right there, and there are a bunch of food and drink spots across the street if you want to grab something before or after. there's plenty of parking outside, but even then on busy days it can get full really fast. there are also bathrooms available but you need to ask the library for the code to access, as i believe it changes daily. they also have a security guard who stands by the door. inside, the library is super spacious, but it's not the quietest. i wouldn't really recommend it as a study or focus spot if that's what you're looking for since it can get pretty loud, especially with kids. there is a separate quiet room, but it seems more geared toward teens. i do wish the books were organized a little better. sometimes it feels like a maze trying to find something, especially not knowing if it'll be in teen/young adult or general fiction. i'm also not the biggest fan of how the manga is set up since it's split into two different areas and i'm not really sure why. that said, the staff has always been super friendly and helpful. i also love that they have a rotating table of themed recommendations. right now it's ren faire reads, but they've done things like blind date with a book for valentine's and other themed picks based on different time periods too. overall, it's a very nice facility with a wide selection of books, from new releases, manga, kids and teens books, etc.

Henceforth,…read moreI've always been partial to visiting these institutions, which led to me selecting this location to collect vote-by-mail (VBM) ballots for the Riverside Registrar of Voters leading up to the Presidential Primary Election in early 2024. I spent many hours observing the patrons and employees, as well as wandering the facility, and these are the results. First, the location is excellent. Not far from the municipal buildings, fairly close to the 91 Freeway, and on the lower edge of the sloping foothills that makes Corona one of the least efficient cities to travel around. Fortunately, the library doesn't share that flaw. Inside is a long hallway lined with the circulation desk and many displays of artwork and Lego models. These are rotating decor, but it's fun to watch kids casting votes for the best item. Another grand hallway joins perpendicular to the main one and this leads to the extensive children's section, and also has passport services and a sizeable Friends of the Library bookstore (separate review for that). Computers, conference rooms, instructional classrooms, and study rooms are available. A couple other favorite areas Include the large boardgame section and Teens area with its impressive selection of Manga anime and studyhall. Even if the same bad middleschool kids got kicked out almost daily for being loud and obnoxious, it was entertaining. A co-worker commented one day after the second or third incident: "There's the instigator, the girl with the red sneakers." Good times. On a personal note, it's nice seeing that some kids still read and enjoy visiting the local library.

I would recommend to come early since parking fills up due to paid parking in Old Town Orange down the street. We love all songs that all the kids end up loving to memorize and dancing to! After some songs and stories there is free play for around 30 more minutes. Other than story time, the Children's part of the library is a fun place for kids to play puzzles, crawl under an orange, and find some books to take home.
