Went into lids to buy my husband new hats for my birthday celebration. There were two young Hispanic ladies(one had pink highlights the other had dark brown hair ) working, the one who rang me out noticed I was using my Apple Pay inside of my physical card after the transaction approved she then hit something on her screen that stated I needed to enter my physical card . Not a huge problem considering the fact it's my card , my name , my pin . However she double charged me and never said a thing about it . I happened to look on my statement and there I see two nice charges for damn near $65 at lids but I only received one receipt. WTH I immediately called my bank . DO NOT SHOP HERE ! Worse experience I've had shopping at the mall in Reno . As a mall employee who frequently shops at Lids throughout the years, I have to say my experiences have been consistently disappointing. The management is subpar at best. There's rarely anyone around to help, and when the manager is present--who is on the heavier side--her rude demeanor is both surprising and uncalled for. She shouldn't be rude, regardless of her size, and it sets a negative tone for the entire store. The overall condition of the store is off-putting as well. It smells unpleasant and looks more like a thrift store than a retail space. The absence of staff is frustrating, and the manager's poor customer service skills leave much to be desired. After years of loyalty, I can confidently say this is the worst place to buy a hat. Save yourself the trouble and shop online instead. read more

I'm a huge fan of hats . I went in on 11/2/2024 looked around and was ready to make a purchase . They had some good promotions going and I had selected some hats I wanted to try on . I was there for about 5 minutes and the employee there looked bothered and didn't want to help . He had his face buried into his phone he looked up at me and went back to his phone without a bother . Needless to say I decided not to purchase any hats from there because of him . Worst customer service I have ever received if I could give this place a zero I would . Haven't been in a mall in maybe 10 years but had an appointment at Vision Works and got there early to check out some hats at Lids. Hats are one of the few things in life I enjoy buying for myself. Lids was closed when I got to the mall at 1:30 On a Monday and had a sign that said "Be right back". When I finished my eye appointment at 3:00 I went back to Lids and the store was still locked up. Only store in the entire mall that was locked up. I probably would have spent way too much money on hats anyway so maybe this was a good thing. read more

I was at the mall for a hot second, and thought, 'let's see if they have any Blackhawks caps.' I walked in, there were two employees, one busy, the other, not busy. He asked, "can I help you find anything?", I point at my cap (Chicago Blackhawks) and ask, "do you guys have any Blackhawks caps?" He returned a rapid, "nope, just Kings" with a bit of a sharp tone. I smiled, said calmly, "they'll be on clearance come Monday" ....his response, "yeah" with a snicker. Noticing that he's visibly annoyed, I turned and said, "thank you". His response, "yep!", with an even sharper tone. He didn't even try and sell me the 'we might have some online' pitch. Just attitude. I don't recommend people spending their money here unless you want edge, attitude from that guy. I for one, won't set foot in there ever again. read more

Small but decent chapellerie, with helpful employees. Well, presuming you only want a baseball cap. And you want a Northern California, Nevada or Oregon team, as they only stock one or two varieties of everything else (at best). If you want an out-of-region cap, though, the Lids website actually has a pretty good variety of nearly everything, has discount coupons flying around all the time, and if you get it shipped to store (which you can here) for pickup the shipping is free. Only downside to all that is that ship-to-store takes a good 10 days or so. read more

If you want a custom hat embroidered, go somewhere else! i made the mistake of paying up front and joining the hat club for an extra $5... total waste of money. They insisted that the hat they made me was ok... wouldn't refund me my $20... and acted like I was wrong for wanting something worth paying for. I'm one of those people who actually take pride in their work and think customers are a good thing. Apparently Lids does Not care about having a return customer, which makes me wonder why the talked me into joining their stupid hat club. You can easily just walk another 50 yards through the mall and get hats made at the small booth in the center of the mall... I went there and the guy did a great job and even had Way more fonts to choose from. read more

I called to see if they had a hat I wanted, I asked for a size 7 1/2, he said they didn't. Then I tried to ask of what other sizes, he laughed and said he had other people in the store, and said we have a lot of sizes. Bad customer service. read more

I brought my son in there to get him a hat (obviously) Personally, I thought their hat selection along with the customer service was a little weak. The younger girl had a less than flattering attitude, the older woman was friendly though. I really wish they had a better selection of Fox hats. I've been riding since I was 4 and am teaching my boy how to ride too, so naturally, I wanted to get him some fox gear. I love how flat billed hats look on little boys, but couldn't find one I liked so I settled for a grey DC hat. I paid about 50 total because I also got his hat personalized with his nickname on it. The lady told me she had the same shade of blue that was used for the DC logo, but it's a few shades two dark. Me being OCD, it'll really bug me, but my little man loves his new hat. read more

Let me start off by saying the selection of hats is great. It could use some more for kids, but tons for adults. I'm an A's fan and they have lots of different designs. I was buying a hat for my 8 year old son. I asked if she had any 6 7/8 in the adult section, since I had seen some there before. The girl who hates her life, who works here (Lori or Tori) said not usually, but I could look. I looked. She told me the kids section is over on the side. I settled on a kids hat and it turned out too small for my son. I went back and wanted an exchange. Lori was doing inventory while seated and couldn't be bothered. I looked at all different styles and found a correct size. I asked her if I could exchange it and she said, "no problem." The transaction was completed without a word. I got home and didn't even bother to give it to my son. I made the decision to go back and return the hat outright because of the horrible customer service. The next day, Mrs. Sunshine was still at her post as happy as can be. I asked to return the hat outright, without an exchange. I handed her the receipt and the hat and she said nothing. Just returned my money, without counting it out, no help in looking for a proper product and no, "thanks for coming in.", or sorry we didn't have what you were looking for. I don't want to see anyone get fired, but a talking to about customer service and being helpful wouldn't hurt. I talked to someone I know who works at the mall and she said the girl does appear to hate her job and never smiled in the 5 years my friend has been there. I'm never going back. read more
