My husband and I each needed a new pair of walking shoes so we went to Reno Running Company on a Sunday afternoon. Ashton greeted us. After talking with us about our exercise habits and checking our gaits on their walking machines, he told us to sit tight while he got us some walking shoes that he thought might work for us. He brought each of us 3 pairs of shoes to try on to see how they felt. While we were trying on each pair, he explained each of the shoes to us. While he was helping us, the store got busy and he was also helping other customers. Yet, he did it so effortlessly, everyone was well cared for. He helped each us find walking shoes, inserts, and socks based on our specific needs. His customer service skills are awesome. He is friendly, knowledgeable, patient and he listens to his customers needs so he can help them find the right shoes. My girlfriend and I visited Reno Running Company today in search of new work shoes for her. We both work in healthcare and need specific shoes for long hours. The sales rep we had, is the reason for this review. Right after he sized my girlfriend's feet, he automatically started pushing the most expensive brand after we told him we wanted a specific brand. He even gave us a shoe in this more expensive brand and told my girlfriend "it's like walking on a 2x4 piece of wood." I've never heard of a sales tactic like that. Next, every box of shoe he brought out, which was more than 10, was dropped or slammed, out of frustration, we weren't sure. My girlfriend asked him nicely to not slam the boxes as it was overwhelming and she was fighting through a migraine, which she told him. His response was, "what's a migraine? I think I've heard of one before," and he was being completely serious. Lastly, as another sales tactic, he tried having us buy a shoe that they didn't have in stock but a "newer model" was coming mid July, but he said it would be at the store in a week from today "for sure." Then when we nicely said no we will wait since the newer model was something she didn't try on yet, he then said "oh well I can put your name down for it as a hold." When I asked him why he didn't start with that instead of trying to sell us a shoe my girlfriend didn't even try on, his response was, "oh I forgot the store lets us do that." I shouldn't leave out the two times he swore saying f*ck infront of us and casually swore when talking about his personal life to us. Surprised at this kind of service, and ultimately he is the reason we will not be spending our money there nor coming back. read more

Great store in Reno area for all your running needs. The one on Lakeside is actually closer to my house but the one at Summit is definitely newer and nicer. The staff at both locations are helpful and knowledgeable. If they don't have your shoe in stock they'll order and ship to your house for free. I've had to do this on almost every pair I've purchased mostly because I always want a specific color that isn't in stock. I also like to come here to get individual goos, energy chews, etc so I can try the products and flavors out before committing to a bulk purchase. It's common for both locations to host local race packet pickups and when they do, RRC offers 15% your purchase on the day of packet pickup. This is better than the 10% military/veteran discount they offer all the time. Definitely worth grabbing a pair of shoes when that discount is available! read more

Quality/Quantity - Got a new pair of running/walking shoes. If you are following, you already know I have been shopping for a new pair of Hoka shoes. And I finally found a place that had what I needed and wanted. They actually had my size! Thank you. I did not know Hoka also made slippers...? Might have to get one in the future also. My wife got a pair of shoes also and put another pair on hold in their Sparks location. Future review to follow. This location has a decent selection of high end good quality shoes for running and walking. Atmosphere - Good size location. Clean and well organized. Obviously supports the running community, see all the pictures. Open 7 days a week from 10am to 5pm, 6pm, or 7pm. Service - Two team members helped us, both were good. But Scott stood out. I watched him help others, then my wife, and then me. He is very passionate about his work. And an amazing hard worker. They are also willing to order for you if needed. And match prices. Price - My wife paid, but I think we spent approximately $250 here, not including the shoe we will pick up at Sparks. It pays to pay for quality. I came to Reno running company in search of comfy shoes I could wear around Europe and Disneyland without having aching feet. I am pregnant so being comfortable when walking long distances was at the top of my list. Lexi was the representative that helped me and she was wonderful! She had me walk on a treadmill to analyze my gait to see what shoes would work best for me. She pulled a ton of different styles and brands that she thought I would like and she really hit the mark. I had a hard time deciding because there were so many great, comfy options. I ended up getting some Brooks and I'm very happy with them. I've never been a runner, and may never become one, yet I was recently inspired by watching some friends run the Journal Jog...so, I asked around and most said to go to Reno Running Company. I'm very happy that I did. I was greeted warmly by Devin, who listened to my long, drawn-out story but was very willing to help. She gave me a pair of shoes and socks to try on, then had me do a brief jog on the treadmill where she analyzed my gait. I thought that was cool and was able to see how I actually ran. She evaluated my stride and provided me with at least five different pairs to try on, ranging in price and certainly not selling me on any particular one, but what felt best for me, which was appreciated. I ended up finding a pair that I really liked, along with a few pairs of new socks. The experience was great, and she had a lot of patience with me. I've never gone to an actual running shoe store before. I've always ordered online or from the big sports stores. After working out at Orange Theory for almost a year, I needed to invest in some better running shoes. I was met by an employee who took the time to ask why I was there, ask about what I did for running, what my preferences were and all kinds of other things while he maintained a relaxed and no-pressure demeanor. He had me stand on a fancy foot pad to get my arch and width dialed in. He came back with three pairs of shoes for me to try and the first pair was perfect. While I was in the store he encouraged me to run around, or offered the treadmill for me to try. I hopped around a bit and got a new pair of shoes. I paid the same amount for that shoe as I do when I buy off the virtual rack. And all the service and support this store offered was incredible for keeping the price on par with competitors. It's definitely been a while since I've been to this location. I was an avid runner in 2013 or 2014, and frequented this store for running goodies. I would come to the store back then for their weekly Sunday runs. I'm not sure if they're still doing them. But the team was always great at organizing and motivating the group of us for the runs itself. Lately, with my most recent visit, it's because my mom and I had visited the Sparks store, and they didn't have my mom's shoe size in the ones she wanted. So Leland called this location to place her size on hold. We showed up and her shoes were brought out. She ended up not buying those but a size larger. In need of some good running shoes lately with no luck in finding what I want until I came to the Reno Running Company. The knowledge about shoes and variety of selection is by far the best I've seen. The store has a section of trail running and road running shoes. They offered if I wanted to find out my running style and I said yes. They measured my foot size and selected some shoes that I am looking for than tested me on the treadmill. They were using an IPAD to see my running style and give me tips on whats best for me. I really appreciated the tips and help in finding the right shoe fit for me. TL DR: This should be your first stop when purchasing shoes. Support local businesses and great people. They will literally let you run or walk in those shoes before you buy them! Shopping for shoes can be a difficult. If you're like me and you have wide feet and or very little arch, it can make finding the right shoe a daunting task. Whether you're looking for a running shoe, walking shoe, or work shoe this is the place for you. I started coming to Reno Running company years ago. After working long shifts at the hospital and having my feet feel horrendous, I knew it was time to get different shoes. I told the employee I was looking for a supportive walking shoe. They took measurements and encouraged me to try them. I ran and walked on the treadmill and repeated the process over and over until I found the right shoe. Saucony Triumph's have been my friends since. When I started looking for shoes for running specifically, this was my first stop. I tried the new Sacuony Triumph's, the HOKA Cliftons, and a few other brands. Loved both the HOKAs and Saucony. I ended up buying both. At not point did I feel pressure to have to buy or purchase any pairs. Any questions I had always get answered. AND THEY LET YOU TRY THE SHOES. They also give you insight on your running style if you're new to running. Customer service: 5/5 (all of the staff are super friendly and are willing to answer any questions) Selection of shoes: 5/5 (so many to pick from) Insight of physiology and how the body works: 5/5 super impressed by their depth of knowledge. Price: 4/5 (you can find better prices on Amazon and some online retailers. I think the Saucony's were $30-40 less online. But you don't get to try them like you do here. Reno Running Company is an excellent place to buy running shoes and other accoutrements. I have been buying shoes here since I moved to town three years ago. As a new person to town, the directions to it were simple and clear: drive to the Summit. I've always received friendly service, and the selection of trail and running shoes is top notch. When I was in graduate school, I worked part-time at a running shoe store and learnt how to determine whether someone overpronated or had neutral fit and how to size shoes properly. I've observed employees doing a great job helping customers learn about what kind of running shoes best suit their gait. I know that my feet are neutral, but every other pair of shoes I buy I have the staffperson who is helping me do the full analysis just to make sure that my feet biomechanics aren't changing with age. Running shoes are expensive, but our feet support our bodies and it's worth it to buy shoes that are designed for running. I tell the employee who is helping me that I'd like to buy a pair under $110. Once I bought the last season's model of a $110 pair for $55 here! Never have I had a staffperson try to get me to buy a more expensive pair. Good job! Say you want to buy a cute article of clothing immediately before going to your date's house to go for a hike. I know from experience that one can do that here and be reasonably assured beforehand that there will be something flattering in your size! I'm almost settled in town enough that I'm ready to make running friends and commit to group runs. Reno Running Company has a regular store run on Sunday morning at 8 am, and earlier this spring they also had a store run at 6 pm on Thursdays. I went to one and had a great run, and I always see the folks on Sunday morning when we are heading out or coming back from getting donuts. Next time I'm actually ready to change my routine and add a group run, it will be with the store. Maybe one day I'll have my life in order enough to train with the Sierra Endurance Sports team! I wanted to get another pair of hoka shoes, and again, I couldn't have asked for better service. I got the hoka stinson 7 and love it . I especially liked the lady who helped me tell me that there was a better hoka shoe - the bondi rather than the Clifton 9 for more comfort come baseball season when I'm on my feet more. This is the only place I buy running shoes in Reno. I have run in my Hoka Cliftons for years but I was wanting to change it up a little and get a trail runner. This store did a great job recently helping my mother get fitted for running shoes as she's +60 and new to running but wants to start a new journey of fitness. The staff member was very accompanying in the process, listened to her needs and brought out sever options that worked for her foot needs for running. I as a long time runner let him go to work and really appreciated the care he showed my mother. The store handled themselves well with the Covid restrictions and I spent some time myself looking around the store. The shoe prices are comparable to other me stores, just know that when you're buying good running shoes(not Nike, Adidas or Reebok kind) the shoes will cost a little more such as Brooks, Hoka and Saucony. I personally have flat feet and they have helped me several times find the right shoes for me as well. If you're new or veteran to running, give this store a visit! read more

When you are at the gym and your feet go numb while you're on the treadmill, it's time to buy a new shoe (duh!) and not only a new shoe, but one that is good for your activity and fits your foot properly. Enter Reno Running Company! The store is laid out nicely with 2 treadmills (I'll get to that in a sec) in the front and men's and women's clothing on both sides with the shoes in the back. I was greeted by Nicole who told me that we could do an analysis of my walk to find the right shoe. Yes! Let's do that! After measuring my feet, she put me in a pair of shoes and off to the treadmill we went. It's a good thing I was in my workout clothes still. She put the speed where I normally would be at the gym and I proceeded to walk for a few minutes. After that, we watched a video of my walk. Turns out, I don't have any issues as far as leaning one way or the other. I'm pretty straight on, so I didn't have to worry about adding any extra support or anything. What Nicole did figure out though, was that I needed a shoe with a wider toe area and my Nikes do not have that. I asked her what was on sale (holy crap, quality shoes can be pricy!) and she grabbed 6 different pair of sale shoes for me. My feet fell in love with the New Balance brand which were on sale from $140 to $88. SCORE! I walked out with my feet doing a happy dance! When we moved from IL, I never thought I'd find a place as good as our running company there. We had weekly runs, fun runs in the summertime that were fun for the whole family, quality items to buy and friendly people. I was pleasantly surprised to see Reno Running Company located 1.5 miles from my house when we touched down in NV. Not only can you score some great running and sport gear at the store, but they have fun sales and promote some great runs (like the K-9 9k in the fall) and have store runs each week. I even ran a trail run this past summer with demo shoes from Salomon. Great store, clean, and open. Great selection. Great people. I just left the store with my first pair of Brooks. I was a bit apprehensive when I first arrived. Wasn't sure if I was going to get fooled into buying expensive shoes. Boy was I wrong. I was immediately greeted by Noah. I gave him my history of running with aches and pain. Not once did he present himself as a know-it-all, but his knowledge in this field was extensive. He measured my feet, and did my gait analysis. He had me try on a few different pairs and I narrowed it down to the very first pair he had given me. Super friendly, very attentive and patient.
