Getting excited for warmer weather and decided to stop in at Sportsman's Warehouse. They have an abundant load of fishing equipment to choose from. Will need to take inventory of what I have at home and will definitely return to stock up. Lots of poles, reels, floats, lures, etc. Also looked at the Carhart apparel. Prices were reasonable. I noticed on a recent visit that the store did not have as much merchandise as it did, say 15 years ago, but that is a reflection of peoples online shopping preferences. Quality/Quantity - Huge warehouse facility with so many departments. But I only stopped by to see if they had ski equipment = NO they did not. But while I was there, I window shopped and walked around. My wife ended up buying a double sided vest, it looked good and was actually inexpensive. Atmosphere - Warehouse style format. Caters to sportspeople with interests in hunting, shooting, reloading, camping, fishing, and other outdoor recreational activities. Also had an online ordering station. Open 7 days a week from 9am to 9pm, Sundays from 10am to 6pm. Plenty of parking. Service - When someone finally noticed me the service was great. Prior to that I guess I was invisible? I was there for over an hour (waiting for my wife to finish shopping). Price - My wife's purchase seemed inexpensive. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1986 with your 126+ locations. 2020 - Looks like my favorite "Toy Store" Bass Pro Shop & Cabela's tried to buy you but the FTC blocked the merger. read more

1/2 a star. WTH, We waited forever to. checkout. Looks like they remodel since the last time we were here, they had six registers put in, only one open why? It was so stupid 15 people in line and he was helping someone with a license or something and no one would come help him it was just ridiculous by the time we left they got another checker up there but we will never come back here again it's a total management issue. It took forever to check out. We almost left. Also, in the gun department there's three guys standing around doing nothing and when you get them to help you the act like it's a big inconvenience that they're going to help you and it's hard to get their attention to buy a gun so forget it we're going to Scheels. This store got a facelift and I really liked it. The store seemed more open, the selection a bit broader, and it just seemed a lot more modern overall. I may have preferred the old store a bit more though. I liked the no frills vibe and the sorta discount department store feel it had. Just low key and simple, easy to navigate, and easy to get help when you needed it. I popped in for some duck hunting stuff today. Couldn't find anything I needed. It was all super picked over, which is somewhat my fault because it's super close to the opener, but I also thought given the supply issues we've got, they'd be stocked up. So the downgraded rating comes down to the limited products on hand, but also the COVID protocols too. All the staff were wearing masks, can't say as much for the patrons. I know the crowd in here, like everywhere, is of mixed opinions when it comes to what's necessary, but it's not that hard to wear a mask. I'd say 50% or less of the patrons were wearing one and no one was trying to enforce it. I just wish everyone would do their part so we can get past this ordeal. Needed our California fishing license, and knew I could get them here. Bought a two day pass with of course an extra rod ... You never know when you are going to catch the big one on a second rod.. Called ahead to make sure they had them and headed straight there. I even found some really good candy to take along on the trip. Staff was friendly. Definitely, will be purchasing a year pass for California. Expensive but well worth it! read more

The manager in the gun department doesn't have time to purchase my gun and sell me another gun. There weee two people in the department with NO customers. He told me it takes and hour and a half to two hours to buy back a gun. That's a lie! I sold them a gun last month and it took 1/2 hour. So I drove right over to Scheels and in less then an hour I walked out with a new gun after buying my old gun. Next time I won't waste my time and go straight to Scheels! read more

In term's of the firearms department, I felt that the sportsman's warehouse had a very educational approach. Selecting my first handgun was definitely unfamiliar territory, but they made me feel comfortable & I felt that I left that store with more knowledge than when I had left. The reason I gave 4/5 stars, is my second visit I was greeted by a different sales rep with their bias in brand when it came to the selection process. In fact, so much that I had purchased a whole different brand in firearm all together. I'm not so upset at the fact that there was a bias opinion, it just felt that this representative just didn't LIKE a brand due to misfire issues. This is a valid concern. Ultimately, this is fair & helped me in making my decision, but I almost felt steered into something else. That said, they are very competent & knowledgable in firearms & the product they sell at Sportsman's Warehouse. I never did I feel dumb & most of my questions were answered. read more

The three stars is for the store but I would offer one star for the gun department. I got the strong feeling that they would rather deal with men than women when it comes to guns. I went in looking for a handgun, one employee asked me if I needed help and I told him I did and wanted to see what they offered. He told me to take a look and pointed at the display cases and took off to take care of a man who just walked in. The next guy came up and asked if I needed help and I told him yes but since I was not sure exactly what I wanted he left me and ran over to the next guy who walked up. He stood chatting with him for awhile. The next employee, a man a bit older, asked me if I needed help, and at that point in my frustration I told him I thought I was being helped except he was too busy talking to the new buyer who walked in. That guy walked off but the guy I was talking about came back to help me after he heard what I said. He was hard to understand as he had a speech issue. I am not sure he is the right person to be selling guns and would best serve in another department. I knew I was not going to find the right gun here. He pushed Ruger guns since that is what he owns yet I was more interested in S&W. I was experienced in guns back 20 years ago just out of the loop. As a Senior the eyes go bad and I decided it was not best to shoot. I had extensive Law Enforcement training way back in the 80's but things have changed. The last time I shot a gun was at least 20 years ago so I needed help to pick out the right gun for me since I have bad thumb joints from dislocating them in the past. And to make matters worse, I am left handed. Many guns are made for right handed people. The gun department in this store, left me turned off and so off with my search for someone who really wants to help and older person find a gun. read more

I should have read the reviews first. According to SW employees at other locations, the Reno location has a high turnover rate, and no one there has been with the company for very long. My observations : employees at the reno location have zero consideration for customers time, working efficiently, and whether or not they lose sales. Follow up: calling that number routed me to a call center in Trinidad and Tobago, where I was kept on hold for 45 minutes then hung up on. read more

This is really a sports warehouse, just like it's name says. A little bit of everything. I don't live in town, but when I do visit Reno, I stop by and shop. I know I will find something that I want that fits me. :-) Prices are very reasonable however their stock/inventory is hit and miss when it comes to a common size of clothes, especially warm sweat pants. I went to the store looking for the Mens & Women's joggers (jogging pants) supposedly on "sale" for $6.99 each but when I got there, I couldn't find it among their already very limited clothing selection. So I asked one employee and showed them the ad; he wasn't sure either and pointed me in a general direction. Finally, I asked another employee, Joie, for help and even she couldn't find the sale items. We both noted that the sale had no brand name nor SKU# so she couldn't even check with a pricing gun. Horrible experience! Ordered shoes on line, paid for overnight shipping, called 4 days Katerina as nothing showed up, was promised a call back and at minimum my overnight charge refunded, 10 days later shoes showed up, wrong size! Called customer service, asked for a supervisor, a VERY cockie person answered, ZERO apologies, I demanded a label mailed to me and compensation for my time and experience, the gentleman basically said he will not mail me a label and he can only email for me to print (I have no printer!) So he urged me to go to fedex or store to do so (30 minutes each way on MY DINE AND TIME????), HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I finally wasted MY time and money, went to Reno store, and when my card was reimbursed, I was still CHARGED THE OVERNIGHT SHIPPING!!! I called AGAIN! and guess who took my call? I was contacting by Pete Perkins, the DM for the store who was understanding and took a keen interest at resolving the issue that I've experienced. Not only did he promise me a refund but he offered to go above by investigating and mitigating the management customer service issues at the store. He even went a step further to bring me back as a customer. I really appreciated it. I was also contacted by Katy, the store manager via email at the conclusion. In light of this I am upgrading my rating of the store. As such, I will give Sportsman's Warehouse another try. read more

Stopped in today to buy some 28 gauge shotgun ammo. Only ones they have were $22.99 a box .... I don't think so Satan. Walmart had the exact same Federal Top Gun ammo for $12.86 a box. Terrible bait and switch experience, albeit with their online store and overall policies/service. Weekly ad came out with great price for an S&W firearm. Woke up and immediately placed order online at 8:00 AM before stores opened. Called Reno store and learned they had no supply, so I was glad I had an order confirmation. Several days later, I noticed the order was cancelled (with no notice, no call, no email...nothing). Called the 800-service number and they admitted they were completely out of stock everywhere. Well then why did you place the ad if you had no stock?? They would not honor the price with a raincheck. Then they said they'd send me a coupon instead. They funny thing about that is that the coupon (once finally received) was capped at a max of $20 AND EXCLUDED firearms. I've bought from them before and I'm a club member. I will never shop there again. UPDATE: As a consolation, Customer Service ultimately provided a $50 gift card for the purchase of another online item. I purchased something on December 16th, hoping to have it for the holidays. On Christmas Eve, I received an email saying it was cancelled as well. Went in originally just to look around but started looking at bows. Was pretty good at archery as a kid so my dad asked me if I wanted to test one out. We were helped by Jared, who was amazing. They lost my confidence by not following through the originating salesperson's plan for me, ultimately losing my purchase. I'd driven 30 miles to buy from them. Watched him be extremely arrogant to an older gentleman that had a simple question about ammo, an employee that was helping me and then myself. I just went into sportsman's warehouse today to look at the marlin 1895 SS 45.70. It lists for $799.99. I asked the representative there how many rounds the gun held and he said it held six. I said are you sure he says well I'm not sure I'd have to go onto the website and look. Then he put the gun back and walked away and I never saw him again. I paced up and down the gun display case where another gentleman was being helped and in the meantime I was never addressed and asked if I needed more assistance. I was going to buy that gun. That's the gun I've been looking for for a long time. I will take my business to Cabela's. Very poor customer service! You folks lost a sale and you lost a customer. read more

I bought a dog training collar that I brought back. They didn't have one in the store but had it online. The cashier gave me a gift card and the hunting manager told me to get it online. When mine was delivered I couldn't get it to work. So I took it back to the store and the hunting manager was great. He immediately refunded the money. I got an email within minutes telling me I would get a new gift card. That was on 4/15/22. On 4.25/22 I went back to Sportsman to show them the email and tell them I haven't received the gift card. The manager there told me it's my problem she has nothing yo do with online orders. I called sportsman, gentleman who helped me said I would have gift card within 3 days and that he would follow up. Well, it's 6 days or 16 days that they have had my Money and I have had no response. The Cashiers and hunting department were great but both managers at that store (both women) are less than desirable and lacking courtesy and people skills. Been disappointed with this store lately. The younger guy that... apparently runs the gun counter(?) is very rude and doesn't know basic customer handling skills. I ordered a gun online and they sent the incorrect one. He told me that I selected the wrong one. I explained what happened and show him exactly how it was a system error. He said said to me that I ordered the wrong one, and on the refund receipt he wrote "customer ordered wrong item" I could care less if they were not able to fix it, or if I did indeed actually order the wrong one. (Even without -Showing- him The issue as it happened. His attitude was horrible. When I got inside the store it was like a ghost town, there might have been six other people in the store. Spent about an hour in the store comparing prices and they are overly priced on everything, even items that were listed a clearence/closeout. They have no associates working the floor so good luck finding someone to help you. They had one guy working the gun counter and 3 people were waiting in line and they finally gave up and left.
