I am a regular customer here but I was very disappointed yesterday with the service and food. I've noticed there is inconsistency with the food (in particular with their tacos and Enchiladas (beef and chicken)) and the service wasn't great. Understand it was a holiday and expected to be a slow service, but we had to wait ~45mins to get our food and noticed three families came after us and got their food way a head of us. Our server came in to say our food was on its way where it took ~25mins later. read more

I think this is the best place to go to in Poway if you want to sit down, get a margarita, and some Mexican food. The Albondigas was very good. Beef taco and rice and beans were fine. I ate way to many of the chips and salsa. Friendly and good service. read more

I really enjoy the food here. Its another one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Poway. I don't think its better than El Comal or Mexicocina, but it is very good on its own terms. Prices are reasonable..the staff is friendly and the food is good. Its great Mexican food and better than some chain restaurants out there. I'd definitely go here instead of Chevys. I've never found any bugs in my food or anything weird...like the other reviewer did(and I've been going here since I was a kid). I also love the atmosphere of the place cause its very authentic. The Chips and Salsa are great, so are the Margaritas! The food is delicious. I've had breakfast there several times when attending a meet up group that met there monthly. Lunch specials are always great and I've only tried a small selection of dinners, but all were delicious. Inside is a little small, but clean and servers are always friendly and smiling. Took a star off for take out reasons. I've ordered take out a couple times and the food is packed without the same garnishes as when you eat in. I'm not sure why? But it is very visually bland. Maybe they are trying to avoid soggy food, but at least put it on the side in little conatiners. read more

This place was recommended by a friend, first off. The service is something to not be desired. We sat down and someone came up to take our drink order, that's where it all went down hill. My order was easy. I'll take the coconut pineapple margarita on the rocks with no salt. My friend asked for margarita without the sweet and sour (called a skinny margarita). The guy came back and asked her what she wanted again. Then he said they don't have margaritas without sweet and sour. I ask, so all your margaritas are a premix. He says yes. So she orders a different drink. As he's fixing our drinks, she find a "skinny margarita" described exactly as she ordered it originally. Hmmmmm weird. OK. Our drink come and mine is blended with no salt. Shit, that just means brain freeze. Uggg, I usually don't complain so I start to drink it. The first guy never comes back to ask us if we want appetizers so we sit and wait for about 15 minutes. FInally, someone else comes up and asked if we have ordered. I ask him if HE is our waiter. He says, well, we kind of all rotate and share. I said, well, I don't want the first guy since 1. He didn't' get my order right and 2. YOU DO have skinny margaritas. This guy quickly changed out my drink and did not charge me for it. We ordered and our food was eh, nothing to write home amount. Just your typical mexican food. Will I come back? Got a coupon in the mail for this place, $9 off any bill when you order 2 drinks. Without seeing the menu my wife and I said "their drinks are probably $3 each" so the coupon is really worth about $3. We checked it out on Yelp and it got good enough reviews, so we decided to go. Went on a Thursday night, about 7pm, only about 3 tables occupied. Promptly seated and menus arrived. Drinks (soda) were $2.90 each - shocker. Ordered carne asada burrito with side of rice, wife ordered tacquitos. Chips and salsa came to table, salsa was good (we are salsa snobs) but chips tasted like they were cooked in old oil (but the chips were fresh and warm). Meal came, nice presentation except our hot meal came on cold plates (like out of the cooler cold). Rice was ok, nothing special. Carne asada burrito was edible, but nothing I would order again. My benchmark is MXN or Taco Stand (La Jolla) for carne asada burrito. Wife's tacquitos were just ok as well. Scale of 5 stars I give this place a 3, but only because the interior of the place is slightly nicer than an MXN type of establishment. Overall, if you want good Mexican food, avoid this place. After looking at other reviews of this restaurant on Yelp, I find it hard to believe that anyone would rate this higher than a 2-3 maximum. It's really not that good. read more

It was my my wife's and my first time going for breakfast. They had plenty of options. Some new takes on old favorites whitch made it nice. The staff was friendly and helpful by giving us recommendations and fast service. The home fries had to be some of the best I've had in a long time. Everything was fresh from the guacamole on my omelet to the coffee they served.. sala verda had a nice spice and three meat omelet was on point. Portions were nice and filling. Carnitas are still a must from there. 2 person special $20 can't beat that. Drinks a nice and stiff. Happy hours are awesome there.. read more

Seriously since they upgraded their menu and started serving breakfast I've been coming here at least twice a week. I've been a long time fan of their cocktails and tacos but their breakfast menu totally steps up the game. I'm surprised this restaurant has 4 stars... We went for dinner on a Sunday night, and there was only one other group in the entire restaurant. We were told to pick any table we'd like, so we picked the one right by the window. I regretted this decision immediately because the window and the surroundings looked like they hadn't been wiped down in months - dust, cobwebs, food splatterings on the window sills... I quickly lost my appetite. The tables were sticky, the leather booths were ripping from wear and tear, and overall the place needs a power wash. Food wasn't great either. I ordered the Chicken Fajitas and the chicken was way too salty and dry as cardboard. The husband ordered enchiladas which he seemed to enjoy more than I did my fajitas. The tortillas though were fresh and warm when they came out. The service, I'd say, is what saves this place. Got there in the timeframe it said it would be done and it was clearly not started. They rushed to get it done which was nice but I came home with two undercooked burgers. A bummer. My drink tasted like curdled milk had to throw it away the guacamole on my tacos tasted old the tortilla was hard and stale tasting potatoes not good then gave benefit of the doubt and went to eat my beans and rice I attached the photo of what it came out like the bag was full of some kind of liquid and made the containers a mess. Its been about three years since we've been back. You know the story, too tired to make dinner, coupon in the drawer, etc. Friendly service right off the bat, decent chips and salsa, very nicely made margarita... okay, good so far. My wife and I each ordered the Carne Asada Burrito since we wanted something hearty but not deep fried or covered in sauce. I would have to say that in all our years in Southern California, this was the skimpiest burrito I've ever had. We are used to generous amounts of protein and other fillings packed to the rafters, (each entree) enough for two meals. This was just the opposite, as if they were running low on ingredients, so they gave us a loose burrito with not a lot of substance. Disappointing. Customer base was typically Poway, the same kind of crowd you'll find at most eateries in this not-so-exciting burb. That should have been a clue that a Mexican-free dinner crowd at a Mexican restaurant was not a positive sign. Next time, we'll skip saving the coupon and try someplace else. This restaurant was a very pleasant surprise. Wife and I had driven by for years didn't realize it was a full service restaurant. Service 5 stars. Fast and fresh. Wife had a margarita she really enjoyed. We both had a number 5 combo. Food was hot and fresh. Chile was great, beef in taco was a little large and dry. We had to add salsa. We have frequented Lienzo Charro both before and during Covid. The waitstaff is and has been always gracious and pleasant and the food is consistently excellent. Finally visited this restaurant with my wife and 15 year old son. I'll just get straight to the point. Love this place. Great food. Fresh and tasty. I like the fact that you can get more restaurant style Mexican food but still have similar taste/style of your more typical taco shop type food. Prices are fair considering all business will start raising their prices due to our idiot California Governor Brown forcing hire min. wage. Anyways, that's another subject. My husband & I stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The restuarant itself is large and clean - has a nice big bar area as well as dining areas. We were seated quickly and they brought us chips & salsa to start. For me the chips & salsa HAVE to be good or forget it - Lienzo Charro's hit the spot, very tasty! Our server was very attentive & friendly. We shared an order of chicken fajitas. It arrived sizzling hot in a very resonable amount of time. The chicken was seasoned just right and the vegetables cooked just the way I like - still a little bit crisp. We enjoyed our meal and finished every last bit. Wife needed mexican food. We live near Poway and cruzed the area and found this place located on a somewhat dark area on the street, poway road. Big TVs , had liquor and was quite emply at 745 pm on a Saturday night ... Why empty, ?/ the food was outstanding, the server was on the money, as we sat there more guests did arrive to get the same great food and service. if I could give this zero stars I would. I ordered on grub hub and the food was horrid. I didn't get my entire order, but what i did get was nasty as F! I ordered super nachos, menu said beans- what I received was a wad of shredded beef no cheese and soggy ass chips. My 4year old didn't get her order, my other daughter ordered the number 8 with chicken. It was literally chicken rolled in a tortilla in some sort of gravy. First things first. The strawberry margaritas are excellent! We were a party of six & ordered a pitcher of margaritas. I don't know where they found a super sized pitcher like that, but I'm not complaining. The food is made to order, fresh, hot & delicious! I ordered the beef burrito & beef taco combo. It came with rice & refried beans. There wasn't an inch on the plate that wasn't covered with food. Everyone else had the same generous portions. Enough to take home for another meal! The chips & salsa were terrific. Salsa wasn't very spicy to me, but a few of my friends said it was a little too spicy for them. Not in a bad way though. We've been going frequently. The chips and salsa are top notch, for starters. The beans and rice are excellent. I've had the chicken tacos which are crunchy and delicious. The last few times I've been ordering the 7 Mares soup. It might be the best I've ever had. Seriously excellent. This place is pretty good. I ordered a burrito, which was huge, my wife ordered the chili Verde, very tender, kids ordered been & cheese burrito and chicken taquitos. Food was good, no complaints. Salsa was ok, needed a bit more flavor. The guacamole was good, if you like your guacamole with chunks of tomato, onion, etc. then this is not it. I like both kinds and I thought their version was good, which was just mashed avocado. My wife prefers the chunky style. Overall, good experience.
