This is a great neighborhood taco shop. We had the adobada taco today. It's full of flavor and it's delicious. But I like their breakfast burrito and fish taco too. I appreciate that they give complimentary chips even if it's to go. Not many places do that. They have a salsa bar that is covered which I also appreciate to deter debris and bugs from getting in. Randomly stopped in for a quick snack. Parking was easy and the restaurant was small, but clean and had minimal seating. They sell fountain drinks but also cans and bottles of soda and beer. They have a nice selection of meats and a variety of different types of food: tacos, burritos, nachos, quesadillas, chimichangas but also combo plate type meals. I love that they serve breakfast all day! And they do have vegetarian options. My husband is a salsa lover and enjoyed the salsa bar; it was clean and fresh and the salsas were, in his words, "too notch" . (They also have free, self-serve chips.) He got a carne asada taco and I got a fish taco. The carne asada was well seasoned and tender, cut into perfect bite sized pieces. The fish taco was good, a little too crispy, as if it had been previously fried then refried. Still good. And the tortillas they came on are my favorite!! Very strong corn flavor! Service wasn't anything special but he was fast and polite and washed his hands frequently. If I was in the area, I would definitely try more of the menu. read more

Reasonably priced tacos, has salsa bar with limes and radish and chips. We ordered a california burrito, which was good AND huge. We also ordered 1 of each of the following tacos: -carnitas: #1 carnitas I've had, my current new standard, being so juicy and fatty but not too fatty, just perfection -extra cripsy tripas: super good as well -lengua: juicy and soft -adobada: decent -carne asada: a bit dry but it did take a bit for me to get home and eat so will retry again Also got a churro which my husband really enjoyed. Highly recommend if you are in the area (which luckily I am!) cashier lady was very nice and food came fast, there is a 50 cent charge for cc but plenty of parking. Large menu. Was looking to try a new place that is closer than my regular TJ tacos and this place seemed to fit the bill. What I liked was that this place actually lists what fish they use in their fish taco unlike most other fish taco places which they often use a poor quality fish. It was empty when I came here which I generally prefer not to go as I prefer going to semi busy places. I tried their lengua and it was okay but I still prefer TJ tacos for it. Their fish taco was alright as well. Although it was slightly cheaper, portions were also less so definitely need to order more tacos to get full here than what I normally order. Overall it was just okay for me, not very suitable for young toddlers as they dont have any highchair or booster seats so was little hard to get them fed. read more

Friendly staff, salsa bar and free tortilla chips. I'm always a fan when there's free tortilla chips to munch on, with fresh salsa bar that has multiple items on top of salsas. The staff was friendly, food arrived reasonably fast, multiple customers coming through, so must be a preference for a lot of customers, but I'm personally not that much of a fan. We got the carne asada burritos and carne asada fries and we were both not that impressed. It was a huge plate, very generous with food, but flavor was just lacking, compared to other places we've been to. Also, the fries seemed a bit under done. Extra star for them because they have real horchata and this is so hard to find now. It's usually not sold or they have those fountain version, which is bleghk. A True Hidden Gem - Authentic, Flavorful, and Affordable! It's hard to find these real OG spots still around--places that stay true to authentic flavors and cultural roots without cutting corners. This taco place is a gem. Everything tasted delicious and legit, from the roasted jalapeños to the pickled carrots and even the dried chilis. You can tell they care about quality ingredients and traditional preparation. Such a great find! I haven't been to many Mexican restaurants lately because most have lost that authentic touch or are way overpriced for what you get. The last one I went to in El Cajon charged $22 for fries, guac, and barely any meat--super disappointing. This spot, though? So worth it!!!! The food is flavorful, the portions are solid, and the prices are totally reasonable! It reminded me why I fell in love with Mexican food in the first place. I'll definitely be coming back!! I'm embarrassed to admit that I've lived very close to Senor Taquero for well over a year now, but hadn't yet tried it. This morning we decided to order up some late breakfast/l early lunch and I decided to give them a shot in my search for a new local taco shop. After checking the menu online we called in an order for the works breakfast burrito, a famous breakfast burrito and a shrimp quesadilla for my stepdaughter. The gentleman on the phone taking my order was very friendly, repeated my order and asked me if there was anything else. Customer service is sometimes lacking at places these days, so it was a pleasant experience. I picked up the order after about fifteen minutes and everything came out exactly as we expected it. The burritos were huge and very filling and didn't taste like they were made of cheap ingredients. The shrimp quesadilla was also a good size and came with a side of sour cream and guacamole. I also noticed when I walked in that they had a good selection of Mexican beers and sodas along with other items like Gatorade and energy drinks. I ended up also snagging a few bottles of Jarritos to go as well. They also have several types of fresh salsas, spicy carrots, peppers, limes, etc and I like that they give you a bag and don't up-charge you for carrots and salsas. Everything from the time I called my order in to when I walked out the door with my food was a very positive experience and I'm glad that this place is so close to my house. Nice amount of chicken filling and they had a great crunch. There wasn't a lot of sour cream or guacamole but still very good! We ordered the Shrimp tacos and the rolled tacos. Shrimp tacos were okay but the rolled tacos were just not good. Tortillas around the sliver of meat was rock hard and difficult to chew and take bites of. There was no flavor and it was just a chewing exercise. There was a very small salsa bar and hard cold chips available. I took two small containers of salsa and then the employee immediately closed the lid on the salsa bar, which seemed odd. Taco selection is fantastic. Chef in the kitchen prepares everything quickly. Asadero, Birria, Al Pastor, all the great choices. Fresh, satisfying, and an excellent salsa bar. The veggie supreme chimichanga is so good here. This spot quickly skyrocketed to the top of my taco shop list with that alone. The deep fried burrito is covered in a tasty enchilada sauce and I can't recommend it enough. Plus, the shop has a serve yourself chips and salsa bar with a nice selection of heat levels. There are closer taco shops to me in Mira Mesa but I'd be willing to make the short drive here in the future. read more

Carne Asada tacos- solid 4 stars. Good amount of meat and little gristle. Good flavors. Just wish they had some limes to squeeze over. The drinks horchata and jaimaca was good too. Fast service and great tacos! I got 4 adobada tacos and although the marinade was a little different than what I am accustomed to, they were delicious! The sauces provided at the salad bar were good too but my favorite was the brown one which is probably the spiciest. This place is the best tacos in the area. I happened to find this on grub hub when I first came to the area and ordered and I've come back 4 or 5 times since. They are quick with orders and their food is always amazing (and fresh!). One of the things that bothers me the most when i get tacos is when meat isn't tender and so hard to chew. This meat literally melts in your mouth. I've tried the rolled tacos, lengua taco, birria taco, cabeza taco and carne asada taco. The cabeza taco is BOMB. So tender and the meat is so juicy and flavorful. I have yet to try something here that I don't like. They have a salsa bar with three salsas you can package yourself, the árbol is my personal fav (the spicier the better!). They also have pico de gallo, pickled carrots/onions, jalapeños and lemons that you can package. If you want there are also tortilla chips available for you to take. It's a super casual spot so not a place I'd go to if I wanted a cute spot to eat, but the food definitely makes it worth a stop if you're a foodie or just a taco lover. The prices aren't super cheap but I blame inflation more than the business. Definitely drop by if you're craving tacos and want something more authentic. read more

This is our go to spot after a good trail ride. All the food is excellent but if you're here before noon, get the breakfast tacos (or burritos if you're starving). Each order has 2 tacos which is excellent for a light breakfast. Build a bowl from their chips n salsa bar and your all set! The guys in the shop are super friendly and know their way around the kitchen. It's all Bonus: Pair the tacos with a PQ iced coffee from Hob Coffee next door to take it up a notch! read more

They have a whole veggie menu, which excited me to try this spot. I got the veggie tacos, and I was a little letdown. This place is generally more geared toward our meat-loving friends. My husband was OVER THE MOON with his carne asada tacos and enjoyed them with the verde salsa. There was rice, beans, pico cheese, lettuce, and guacamole for my veggie tacos.
