Clean and good atmosphere. A little on the pricier side but definitely worth it considering all of the amenities.

Ok, we have been members here, our entire family of four, for 7 years since August 2008. Weve decided to drop our membership and find somewhere else. There are several reasons for this. Ill start by saying that I really like some aspects of this club such as the large beautiful outdoor pool which is great in the summer, and the really nice locker rooms!! But, the cardio area is honestly, pretty disgusting at this point. It used to be so nice and clean in 2008-2009...??? How can the locker rooms be clean and the cardio equipment be so horribly dirty all the time? I literally noticed that the same nasty papertowel in a certain crumple was left on the same elliptical for 3 weeks plus without being removed by anyone. The amount of dustand dirt on the pieces of equipment is just unacceptable. The weightlifting area constantly smells like damp dog in the summer. Not sure if this is an issue with ventilation or what. Ok. Yes there is a family locker room but during every weeknights and weekends during the summer when they have swim lessons it becomes very very crowded and theres no room at all to change or shower. Make the family locker room more than 2-3 family size if you would like to keep families coming since your policy does does not allow young kids even those that are 2 years old, in regular sex locker rooms. You are discriminating against young children from being able to use a locker room bc you dont want the "atmosphere" affected. In my opinion that is discrimination of children. Not even a 3 or 4 year old boy can go with his father into the same sex locker room? Silly!....Then open an "adult only" club and quit offering so many kids sports and recreation activities to make more money from that age group. Just sayin'. In addition the indoor pool, unlike the outdoor pool (which I love and is beautiful and large), indoor the water has a weird smell/ dirty and when we get out our skin always smells like sour feet (not like chlorine its a different smell our skin never smells like this after getting out of any other pool in the area we have used in several years). When i asked the pool director when the last time was they emptied and refilled the pool (which should be every two years) they said they did not need to ever empty and refill it as there was no law to that effect. She said in the 3 years she had been there it had not bern done (then a week later she said it was done last summer which is not true bc i was there and it never happened)... Not impressed. So we r off to find a cleaner place to workout. Good luck to us I guess. :-( read more

Unbelievable customer service. They want your money and want a LOT of it- and then put people in charge that have neither the inclination nor ability to assist customers. Half the items on the cafe menu (Cocoa Nibs, amongst others) are constantly not available. I went in and asked for the manager- I had tried to order several items in January (I know - $9 for a smoothie it's my own fault) and they were out. Everyone make excuse after excuse WITH ATTITUDE - how hard is it to keep something you can buy literally down the street at Costco in stock that is on your menu? Anyway I said screw it- I'll just stop getting anything there and will take my meal $$$ elsewhere. Decided to try it again this weekend. Guess what? Don't have several items I asked about available yet. I asked for the manager- was given some guy who actually said to me "Oh, I can't help you. My issues with this place have not been resolved. The day after I wrote the first review I called corporate and I was told our membership was standard and there were no extras. We joined the weekend of Black Friday specials and were told we would get 300 LT bucks, 2 free workout bags and a free training session. The sales person also agreed to waive the administration fee if we joined right then. We were charged the admin fee, we never received workout bags and only I have received the LT bucks. My boyfriend has never received his LT bucks. When we joined we were told they absolutely maintained their equipment. They don't. Several machines, and a water fountain were broken. If you read my last review, I mentioned the ONE leg press. It's not even a good leg press. I also mentioned the bolts were loose. When we were there Saturday night trying to do legs it was broken. On some of the machines the numbers are worn off. You have to guess at the amount of weight you can do. Since the machines have not been well maintained, some of them, even though they may work, don't work well. This "high end" club has dirty towels and paper towels everywhere. Nobody racks their weights so it's hard to find what your looking for. It's just very poorly managed. We've worked out at the club on Preston in Plano a couple times. It's a better club. The equipment is better and seems to be maintained. The thing I didn't like about this club is there are little kids on the weight room floor screwing around on the machines fairly often. A couple weeks ago, there was a lady with 4 kids ranging from 2 to maybe 12, she was letting them run around the weight room and play on the machines. 12 and under are not supposed to be allowed on the second floor. Again, if you're serious about weightlifting, I don't recommend this place. read more

Hands down, one of the best gyms I have been to in the DFW metroplex, and I have been to MANY GYMS! You definitely pay a higher monthly membership, but once you walk in, you will know why. What gym has a huge spin room with movie screens that come down from the ceiling while you are in a spin class??? This place does! There not 1, not 2 BUT 3 studios at this gym, and yoga even has their own section. The upstairs is huge with plenty of up to date equipment. The locker rooms are huge, the steam room is a eucaplytus room!!!! There's also a huge pool area and tons of activities if you have kids. This place also has a cafe and a spa. read more

Cut the cord today...sad to do it but had to...lifetime fitness sent me an email saying they are going to raise my $77 a month single membership to $83 a month... talked to manager... no discount for first responders... nothing he can do and told that new member pricing is $90-99 a month so I still have a "better deal"...been a member since 2010....and my membership keeps going up $5 a month every 4-7 months.., while my salary stays the same...I only go 1-2 times a week and only use cardio and lifting...way too expensive for that..they have the basketball courts shut down now too because they are replacing the floors... why??? Guess that's why the increase in price to pay for them??!!.. the stair climbers are way way old also and 5 out of 17 were out of service today...I'm done! Hello 24 hour fitness again... $12 a month! I don't get why people spend so much if they aren't going to "work out." I've only been here once and it wasn't a pleasant experience. It seems this is a place for people to just join to sit by the pool and not do anything else. Very stuck up atmosphere and I prefer gyms that people actually sweat at. Any place where you can order freaking ice cream at the pool isn't a gym. Save money and join the community center. read more

The facilities are not the cleanest, but we had great experiences with the pool staff here. However, the family shower/locker room needs an update. The hair dryers are pretty much all broken and really lacking maintenance compared to the other locations, especially the new ones. read more

Best gym! I can't say enough good things about this gym. Its been amazing for my well being and family. Childcare center is awesome. From the time we signed up with JJ (excellent service) we have not been disappointed. We enrolled my toddler in swim lessons with Corrinda and within 2 months she is swimming and doing amazing. Corrinda is an excellent instructor. Pilates with Nikki is worth every penny. Also the spa! Erin for massage is the best! Front desk (Erin) is super helpful and friendly. Krystal for waxing/ facials is awesome too. We love the cafe/ smoothie bar as well. Invest in yourself and join this amazing fitness facility. read more

I recently joined this place and could not be happier. I have read the other reviews and totally get that no place is perfect, but I think a lot of that is based on expectation. My past experience was with a city facility. I joined LifeTime when the joining fees were reduced. I have participated in various classes. I believe you get what you pay for. If you want a very basic experience, join a city facility and pay and sign up for every class. If you want the ability to go to Yoga one day and Kickboxing the next, choose Lifetime. If you want to go to Zumba but don't want to pay extra, join LifeTime. No more signing up and committing to classes and having life happen. I enjoy the flexibility and most everything about this club. It keeps exercise from getting monotonous and boring. read more

I'll keep it short and simple so I'm not wasting my time but will give you the quick overview. 1) too much construction at this facility and Plano; constant push and change to more group fitness & the dynamic and pushy sales is just a headache 2) too expensive for what you get 3) Customer Service is an absolute joke. To make it worse, when you call the 855 # for corporate, they are rude, condescending & disrespectful. I have asked for a call back from a manager or corporate rep 4x now, and each time they tell you they'll call you within 48 hours. NOTHING. 4) I think there are too many options out there today to deal with crappy people, not worth the money or time. If you want my recommendation, go to a gym in your area for a 1/4 of the cost or just buy some home videos - you'll be much happier. read more

Management really nice to you until you join, they walk past you like they don't even know you, the same goes for the staff and trainers. They'll will definitely take your money. Everyone is so rude and unfriendly, The environment does not match the monthly fee expectation, it is toxic! They claim to have nice and clean everything, wow have you been in the showers? I've never had a more frustrating experience in my life! This gym was okay when I was there, but now that I've moved they refused to cancel my membership! I'm now living on the other side of the country and every month they still bill me $95. I've called them repeatedly, but they tell me they are incapable of canceling my membership. At this point I'm considering getting a class action lawsuit together, because it seems like a lot of people are having this same problem. Bottom Line: This place is NOT worth it!! read more

We went in today to look into membership at the Allen, TX location. My wife had already visited previously because one of her friends has had a membership at this location since it opened 4 years ago. Apparently, they don't WANT or NEED your business here, it was quite evident the second we walked into the door with the prima donna attitude of the receptionist... then when we talked to one of their "sales consultants" we got double talk about a deal that was mentioned to my wife and two friends the last time they where there. When the actual sales person who had made the claims was consulted, the back peddling ensued...I made it a point to mentioned that the entire experience felt like a shady used car dealership... I guess the kicker was the emotionless, "I really don't care" look pasted on everyone face... it was either fork over the $150 enrollment fee....or get the hell out!!! read more

Lifetime Fitness is a beautiful but massive structure that hogs the corner of 121 & Lake Forest in Allen. Inside you will find more gym equipment than you will ever know what to do with plus two class spaces (including one set up for spinning) plus several basketball courts, plus a rock climbing wall, plus two swimming pools (indoor & out) and tennis courts. Quite a list, I know and I didn't even mention the great locker rooms, the sauna nor jacuzzis. Oops, I did now. As they say in the infomercials "How much would you pay for this? Wait don't answer!" Lifetime is not cheap. A single membership will run you $65 a month. Yes, that's outrageous but if you're like me and you hate being stuffed into this little space and waiting to use machines, it seems worth it considering all the place has to offer. When you factor in that it is impeccably clean and the staff is generally nice, it make that monthly check a little easier to write, especially knowing that you are not stuck in some multi-year contract because you can opt out at any time. One final plus is that they have special family rates, child care facilities and summer camps set up for the young 'uns. Of course, therein lies a problem and the reason, I docked them a star and though about subtracting another. Lifetime's focus seems to have changed from gym to recreation center and has practically become a freakin' Chuck E Cheese. There is such a push on the family memberships that the place is over-run by children. The gigantic pool bursts at the seams with the dirty diaper crowd, where as the basketball courts have become hangouts for the mischievous middle school set , whose parents have conveniently dropped them off because even they can't stand to be around these obnoxious pre-adults. The gym area was supposed to be immune because of a rule requiring minors to be supervised but that goes unenforced as lifetime bends over backward to cater to families and earn their $$$$. With that being said, it is still the best gym I have ever used. If you can get past kiddiedom, the rest won't disappoint (Note: the Plano location has the same set of problems and is not as spacious). This club does meet all of our needs as far as classes and workout equipment but that is not necessarily what has kept us here. Since I've cancelled my membership back in September of 2014 (It's now July 2015), I notice that I've continued to get billed $95/Month. A young man called me back in April and said he would stop all charges, but low and behold...the billing continued. I had to go their facility and cancel this again in person, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry" was all I heard and again...the person that can address these issues is not around. This is very unfortunate as I'll have to pursue legal action to recover the funds, and there's no guarantee that I won't continue to be charged. I started visiting here (was previously a member at the Garland location) after moving to the area and have been very pleased with this location, particularly the classes. As with other Lifetime gyms, there are 3 pools (one outdoor), an indoor rock-climbing wall, yoga/pilates studios, racquetball courts, a salon, sauna and steam rooms, and a café. There literally is something for everyone, regardless of your workout preference! I will say that this location seems to be a bit more crowded than some of the others, but never enough to cause a real issue (i.e. I have yet to wait for a machine). I haven't noticed an issue with cleanliness at all despite the larger number of members, so they must be doing something right! The staff here is very friendly and is quick to say a quick "hello" or ask you how your workout was. The class instructors have been nothing short of fabulous and clearly enjoy what they do. I've enjoyed every single class I've tried there though some have been slightly more painful than others! Classes are included in with your membership so be sure to take advantage. There is a nice variety of cardio equipment available, though I am a bit disappointed in the number of bikes available on the gym floor (somewhat of a minor complaint). There are two areas available for stretching, abs, and light free weights with all sorts of kettle/medicine balls, stability balls, resistance bands, and mats for use. In the free weight area, people seem to do a pretty good job of restacking when they are done so you're not spending time looking for what you need. The only real downside to Lifetime is of course the price. Honestly, while it is a bit more than your local neighborhood gym or LA Fitness I think it's well worth it based on what they offer. I don't think I could ever go back to a smaller gym after being a member here. That being said if you're just looking for a place to do straight lifting or some sort of basic routine, it may not be worth the additional cost. I think all the Negative reviews on here are a Bunch of B.S. and they are mad because they didn't get a date with one of the trainers or they have their own agenda or they are trying to stear someone to another gym. I've been a member to this place over 10 and I've never had a bad experience with trainers and I've only seen broken equipment a few times and it's always fixed within 12 hours and the entire facility is spotless. Worst experience ever. I was given the worst treatment for trying to cancel my membership. I had two deaths in the family and a personal illness. I waited until my contract was almost up and contacted the membership department by phone about cancelling. I called three times and no one called me back. I finally spoke to someone and then they said I had to come in person to cancel. It took me about 5 days to come in because I was sick. They made me wait for someone to take me in a room and guilt me into staying. Then they tell me I hadn't given enough notice, and I would need to pay for another month. I explained that I was ill in bed and they told me they would need a doctors note. I showed my 6 bottles of medication. I would not be in town due to deaths in the family) I explained that i had been trying to cancel for two weeks and no one had time to contact me. They told me the guest relations team would call me because they could do nothing. Guess what? No one ever called. Then I tried to dispute the charge and the credit card company needs the cancellation in an email form. Very interesting that the gym would require it in person when they know it must be in writing for disputes. As a business owner who had personally treated the workers at Lifetime to free outings at my expense, their lack of common decency is disgusting. Do yourself a favor and go to another gym. One that is clean and actually cares about their clients. All I asked was the common courtesy to not charge me for an additional month due to their lack of communication. I got a HORRIFIC BACTERIAL INFECTION on my face, head and in my eyes from the steam room droplets from the ceiling that fell on my head. My doctor took cultures and verified tons of crazy bacteria growing in the dish. I have missed work and spent much time in the doctors offices trying to clear this up. I stopped by and talked to one of the managers on 9/6/18. I was promised follow up calls from managers and even the GM. NOTHING AS OF TODAY!!!! We pay over $200 a month for a family membership. Such a very nice gym! A very clean gym and well maintained. They have a huge section of cardio machines. The locker room is really huge. The sauna is huge as well compared to other gyms I've been too. I came here for open house. You do have to fill out a form. I was taken to the member's advisor office. The advisor I dealt with was just flat out rude and made me feel uncomfortable. Monthly dues are pricey but you get what you paid for...a very NICE VERY WELL MAINTAINED gym. read more

This by far is the best gym I've been too, it's well cleaned up and the staff is very nice. It's nice to know that you'll be able to play basketball because their's 4 courts. This is the best gym to go to if your looking for one it has an out door water park for the summers and indoor pools, hot tubs, it's also got a place for you to drop off your kids if you want to go work out witch by the way, the workout area is awesome. I am cancelling my membership after 7 years, mainly because of the pool staff. They make up crazy rules and then act like gestapo and threatened to kick me out of the gym. I like to bring my kids 5 and 7 to the inside wading pool for recreational purposes and I don't necessarily want to go with them. Its a wading pool and they can stand up. When we purchased our membership it was advertised as such but now they have some stupid catch phrase "If your kids can't swim 25 feet you must be within 10 feet" The pool manager comes by and angrily asks "Which one is your son" And, there is a lifeguard sitting there watching 3 kids. Why do they need a lifeguard if they are not willing to do their jobs. Anyway, the creep says he's going to make an exception for us and that we must stay withing 10 feet, but that is no exception that is what is marked on the sign. This pool staff are really lazy and don't understand recreational swimming. They have summer camps where they do sports and crafts and take the kids out to the outside pool with lifeguards so why is this acceptable when parents are not even there. I would never trust their summer camps after this or any of the staff after this. I only used the gym to meet up with other parents/kids for recreational swimming so they were getting $120 for nothing really and now they won't get my money at all. read more

This Gym is the King of Kings. It has everything you need and then some, pool, spa, cafe, hair salon. Also some of the best trainers around work at this location, Karsten, Trevor, D.Stanley. You really cant go wrong working out here, yes at peak times it can get a bit over crowded, but there are plenty of machines and free weights to get a solid work out in and take training to the next level. They have multiple studios, classes and yoga along with cycling. They have a run club, do basketball tournaments, racquetball and indoor rock climbing! Now you do pay for what you get, and yes 24 Hour Fitness is cheaper, and so is LA Fitness, but cheaper is not always better. Train the way you deserve to and become the ultimate ninja. read more

I appreciate the availability of the equipment and the abundant classes, but what makes me feel as a valued member is Ashley , that works the front desk. She greets me by my name early in the morning and her professionalism is above and beyond. This is one of the best gyms around, but they have a bad habit of constantly raising their prices, promising more services and features, and then under-delivering. They started charging for kids a while back, and said they would provide a richer experience in child care. My kids haven't seen it. It's just a crowded, unorganized mess. Forget about any of the kids activities. You get half the quality for twice the price. And some of the staff seem annoyed when you have to stop them to ask a question. Avoid this like the plague unless you enjoy being upsold on mysteriously increasing fees and empty promises of future upgrades. Also, check out the fitness classes you might take to make sure they actually still have room for new members. Many of them are packed already. Then there is the issue of LT Bucks. You get these for joining, and can use them towards LifeTime products and services. When we tried to use these bucks, we got the worst kind of treatment, like we were some kind of second-class citizens trying to cheat the system. They won't work for just about anything at Lifetime that has value, and when you find something that LT Bucks can be applied towards, it seems like they differentiate between LT Bucks users and cash payers. This was a great value at the original price and introductory package we were quoted. Now, the rate has gone up by $60/month, the service is deteriorating as the club becomes more crowded, and many of the LT Bucks in their introductory package will go unexpired because they have created new limitations on how they can be used. I don't mind paying more for a premium experience. What I will not support is bait and switch tactics. read more

I went there to meet a friend who had a pass for me to use for one dance class. I was treated very rudely by the staff at the service center. 4/17/09 I have to add an addendum. I went back last night and the people at the front desk were different than the ones I encountered before. These guys were actually very nice. 10/23/10 I'm a member with LTF now. Most of the 'kids' that check in my mbr card are great. Some still seem to be in their own little 'kid' world, but they are young. Most of the staff is very helpful and pleasant. read more

I just joined this gym on 9-30-12 and let me tell you!! im very happy that SKY kept me in that office to sign my forms! this place is everything i wanted plus more. the location is great, this place is super super clean i was shocked because i haven't touched a gym since the early 2000's and that gym place was filthy and i thought i was going to see after i paid that money if they were putting on a show but no! they have HUGE BBALL courts that takes up one half of the building its self. the 2nd floor is dedicated to nothing but fitness! on the bottom on the other side is a HUGE inside pool, hot tubs, and they EVEN GOT ANOTHER POOL outside (olympics style) with a huge tall water slide! our dressing room has a nice eucalyptus steam room I MEAN THE AMENTIES ARE something fit for a queen or king. oh oh oh they got a spa, a resturant...tons and tons for treats.... trust me when i say you are getting what you pay for and to be honest its not that expensive. im not white and im not rich and i work a regualr job just like everybody else and i can afford it. besides i wouldnt want to take a cheap route and be scared to even touch the surface of anything in there. the place is awesome you really are getting what you are paying for. zumba classes, spin classes, aqua arobics classes, group and personal swim classes, groups for people that like to ride bicycles, groups for people that like to swim, the website allows you to use well.........i wont tell you everything....you got to do like me and check it out for yourself. The staff is very very nice it seem like they understand my struggle and actually talked to me while i was on the tread mill getting it together....and these are personal trainers they didn't have to do that their time is money and they came over there just to say hey and welcome me here and get to know me. that makes me feel good it has kept me motivated to come back all this week. and for you single ladies.........(the personal trainers i have seen are CUTE! oo weee) how about some eye candy while you get your eye candy back. anyways im happy. read more

We've had a family membership at Lifetime for several years. We were using the LTF @ Preston and Legacy until this one opened on 121. Prior to LTF we were members of the YMCA. I prefer LTF. It's got everything from weights to cardio to various classes, courts, pools, etc. Another nice thing for us is the kid care. The kids have lots of things to do including a playground, indoor court, computer stations, etc. As far as price goes I think they're competitive relative to what you get. They're definitely not a $30/mo sort of place. My interaction with the staff and trainers has been courteous and friendly. Overall we like the place. read more

I've experienced 24 HR Fitness, DAC, LA Fitness, Anytime Fitness... Lifetime hands down stomps em' out - if on nothing else, cleanliness. I've read other reviews about lots of kids - so far, I've not seen it. The small kids have their own massive area where they can go in and do activities and play. My 16 ear old nephew has wanted a membership at Life Time for years. He went into Life Time and spoke with Sean about the cost of becoming a member. Then my nephew called me to give me all the details. I called Sean, and he was very professional, yet, very kind and understanding. He helped find a membership I could afford. He was amazing in so many. I decided to write this review because I had meet with other sales reps at Life Time that were very pushy. I left feeling they only cared about money. With Sean, he listened and understood what I needed and in the end I felt he cared more about people than money. Being a 60 year old woman, I believe it's so important to treat others with dignity and respect. I felt that instantly while speaking to Sean on the phone.
