I think what Lifetime fitness is doing to it's senior members that are part of Medicare silver sneakers program on Medicare is not only ridiculous but seems like age discrimination, They now want members that are part of senior sneakers to wait for 5 1/2 hours AFTER they open for us to be able to check in and I happily canceled my membership when I heard about their new and unfair rules. I won't really miss Lifetime being that it's annoyingly loud in the club and crowded much of the time, but the new hours for Silver sneakers members is the last straw. read more

If your primary interest is basketball, don't bother considering Life Time Fitness as an option. This location, and most others, has sacrificed half of the original basketball court space for pickleball. Due to the limited space, you'll regularly end up shooting around with 3 to 5 people on a single hoop. If you do luck into a time when the court isn't overcrowded, you'll have to endure 2 incredibly annoying sounds ad nauseam: the percussive sound of a pickleball being hit every 3 seconds (cuts through noise canceling), and boomer pickleball players screaming after every volley with the intensity of having just witnessed a walk-off grand slam in a World Series game. The final straw was being told to leave the basketball court due to it being reserved as spectator space for pickleball (see photos). Life Time is no longer a viable place for basketball. Like a casino, the current focus is on extracting as much revenue as possible from a demographic that has little time left. This gym is absolute trash the prices keep going up but yet nothing changes couple little upgrades here and there. It's privately owned and the guy that owns it is loaded but refuses to upgrade anything to this gym. There's been weight machines there that are decades old it's 2026. This is supposed to be a luxury gym yet there's nothing luxury about it. They focus on their BS training, which is overpriced and take up all of the open floor for that you can complain, but nothing will change. Only reason I go there because it's half price through my insurance otherwise I would never come here unless you're 90 years old this gyms for you. read more

Kirk from the Pickleball program is an absolute jerk who is rude to members and has a terrible attitude for the fact that we were shelling out $320 a month for a family of 4 to be there. I just canceled our membership due to an extremely rude interaction he had with my husband today on the pickleball court and will not be going back. First of all, at EVERY other place indoor or outdoor where there are pickleball courts, bags are allowed near the court because there is a lot of gear you need to bring - paddle, balls, glasses, shoes, towel, etc. The basketball players also are allowed to bring their bags to the courts. Well apparently this is the only place in the Chicagoland area where you can't bring your bag to the side of the court. My husband had his underneath the bench. Kirk told him he needs to remember to put it into the locker room - annoying, but fine. If that's the rule, it's the rule (even if it's a stupid rule). My husband let him know that next time he will be sure to put it in the locker room. Not good enough for Kirk apparently. Kirk proceeded to grab my husband's paddle off of the rack and refuse to let him play until he put the bag in the locker room. He was absolutely rude and unpleasant about it, and proceeded to argue with my husband about it. There is a right way and a wrong way to get a member to follow your rules and being an absolute jerk to them is the wrong way. Will not be going back. read more

This facility is open to midnight. It's convenient for everyone who wants to work out by themselves and friends. There are 2 studios, which are for yoga, kickboxing, Pilates, etc. There are some classes CTX, Alpha etc on the upper floor. Monday through Friday, there's classes from 5am to 12pm and 5pm to 9pm. Saturday and Sunday have shorter hours. The club just updated the first floor for pickle ball, which was addional to basketball and volleyball. Swimming pools , hot tubs and sauna are large. Clean towels are available in all classes and are at every corner. However, the membership is higher compared to other gyms and is more expensive. Never the less, it's an amazing gym with a great cafe and salon! It is worth the money! read more

By a country mile the best gym I've been in. They had like 10-15 squat/deadlift racks so at least 1 is always open! They have tons of equipment, a very nice locker room with a steam room, a nice indoor and outdoor pool if you ever want to go for a swim. On top of these, they have two really nice hot tubs & a sauna near the indoor pool. I didn't even take their classes and I thought that this gym was absolutely worth the money. read more

I have been a member here for over 20 years. This place is about total health, I am a 2 time stoke survivor with Lupus. My health deteriorated badly. I was embarrassed to go to a gym. This place welcomed me. The majority of the staff provided the support I needed to become the best me. I will never be what I once was but i can be my best me. Along the journey back I brought my mother as a guest. She enjoyed it and joined for the pool. But she got so much more. The club started a senior program called Aurora. This program has classes geared towards people mom's age. The amazing thing is the friendships mom has been able to make. Mom is in her 80. Her friends are disappearing. She now has someplace she goes 6 days a week. This is something mom needed. I did not know she needed it. I dont know where i would have got it if I knew she needed it. read more

I'm about to "Karen" it up on here, we have been going to this gym for a while now 6+ years we are a family of four. one 6 year old and one 2 year old and two adults we pay a good amount of money to go to this gym over $200. Tonight was the tip of the ice burg for me, I take my two kids to the pool EVERY-TIME WE GO! We sometimes forget our toys sometimes to bring to the pool we figure no big deal since the water mushroom and the little fountains are gonna be on in the pool but apparently when swim classes are going on they aren't allowed to put them on I can completely understand for 1-2 hour but more then that is just wrong and it does it for 3 days out of the week. As a full time mom that has to stay home with my youngest Monday threw Friday this is very difficult to deal with because that's literally what my smallest looks forward to doing and me cause that's what's going to wear them out and to make matters even worse family swim ends at 8 and that's what time the swim classes end. like split the time make every child happy cause why should kids that aren't in swim classes have to suffer or be put to the side cause? I also found so funny once family swim ended the manager and the other life Guards got into a circle to talk crap about me. It's nice having a familiar gym to frequent went out of town. This location is a monster. It's quite large. Very friendly staff and all of them had smiles on their faces. Special thanks to the guy who turned on the water for the waterslide for us. He was such a nice guy and was so nice to talk to. He gave me the info on all of the other locations. There are watersides both inside and out. Lap pool that is very cold, but appreciated. Leisure pool is a tad too warm for me, but was fine to swim around in. They also have an outdoor pool, two large whirlpools and a coed sauna which is nice. The other ones in MN that we have been to are separate. Lockers and changing rooms were very clean and well attended to. Plenty of towels. Work out area nice and spacious. Plenty of machines. Would definitely make it a point to come back to this location. read more

Heard today that the SilverSneakers program at our close Life Time Bloomingdale location has drastically reduced there hours for Myself who swims 5 to 6 days a week faithfully between 4:00 and 6:30 am the new hours are very inconvenient to me and many Of the other Seniors it's been the topic of conversation! Typically the new hours offered are right during the time we Seniors Have Doctor appointments and other responsibilities! We can come during the early hours but for a feee of $80.00 a month Which for many of us now on fixed incomes is a financial burden! We Seniors are certainly not taking up space from other Members during those early morning hours! Exercise is very important to us Seniors it's what keep us healthy! As for me and The other Seniors I swim with in the morning the WORD that describes Life Times new policy of cost and new drastically reduced Hours effecting the Seniors who have insurance that provides the Silver Sneakers memberships we have had is DISCRIMINATION! I called Silver Sneakers Corporate was told this was Life Time Decision to cut hours or charge fee or cancel the program all together. Poor management, over priced, and a major scam. Paid for the kids camp and went to drop my daughter off just to find out she's not on their roster. They refused to work with me, despite having paid and I had to take my child to work with me. Tried calling to speak with someone and was ignored. Found out I'm banned because they think I'm a safety risk when I never once threatened them. I will be taking this complaint further up in the chain. Weights laying everywhere, towels laying everywhere, sink is broken for a while and to top it off there's blood on a platform... sadly all lifetimes miss the mark anymore, although they aren't as bad as Warrenville... that one the GM is absolutely abysmal. Well, it's not my second home now. The selectorized (weight stack) machines have not been cleaned in months. They have layers of dirt on them. There are multiple machines that have rips in the pads and a few that they are so deep that they are unsafe to even use as your risk getting a cut by the hard plastic. The men's locker room showers have not been thoroughly cleaned in a long time. I took my towel and rubbed the wall to find I had rubbed a layer of orange mold off the wall. This is the beginning of how black mold starts to grow. I was there for 2 hours and did not see anyone cleaning anywhere in the club. The website boasts about a cleaning handbook that's over hundred pages long. I am not sure if it was opened or made it to this loca This club was once one of the best clubs in the Illinois LT portfolio. Currently though, it's the worst. I see the reviews have a broad range, but I found LifeTime to be a decent gym overall. However, this is the first time I have ever belonged to a big-box gym so I don't have much to compare. The sales managers, membership managers and trainers were great to work with throughout my stay. I used to live in Chicago and moved to NYC a little over a year ago. When I lived in Chicago I belonged to a small gym in the city that I loved. I had to come back to Illinois over the summer for an extended stay to help my parents for two months and needed to join a gym near their home in the suburbs that allowed me to take classes and had on-site care for my child while I worked out. LifeTime fit that bill perfectly. I got lucky and joined at a time they were having a summer promo. Along with decent prices for the promo and on-site child care, I received free swim lessons for a month for my kid, 2 on-boarding sessions, a trial week for the "paid" classes, and a massage. I could bring my daughter with me everyday and drop her at the on-site day care for up to 2 hours while I worked out! The facility is clean, has the nicest staff, and lots of toys and play areas for the kids. I didn't end up using it since my daughter preferred staying home with her grandparents, but I know she would have been happy if I brought her. The swim classes were once a week. The only opening they had was Saturday late mornings which worked fine for our schedule since we were just visiting. The teachers changed a few times because of circumstances, but the lessons overall were decent. My daughter learned the basics and I was glad she had something to do on Saturdays. I did one of the two on-boarding sessions. I would have done the second if my first one hadn't been such a waste of time. The trainer had no agenda set-up for our session. Instead he asked me what types of exercises I did at my gym in NY and what I "felt" like doing that day. It was unprofessional and annoying. I ended up dictating the entire session and we boxed, because I told him I liked boxing. Even after that though, he stopped a few times throughout. Once was to run off to a personal errand, and once was because he said he wasn't expecting me to be so "advanced"...what the heck? Anyhow. Thankfully I am not rating my entire two-month experience at LT on my first session or this would be a very different review. My only advice is just be aware if you're offered a "free" on-boarding session because it's not going to be an informative and productive personal training session as you'd imagine it to be. The trial week of "paid" classes is what ultimately won me over. I discovered the Alpha MetCon class with Antony, which I ended up taking every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. My first week was free and then I had to pay an extra fee on top of my membership. I know this sounds ridiculous to some people, but trust me it's worth it! I have paid for a small gym membership for years and you do not get this level of training for this price anywhere else! Antony is phenomenal. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Antony. I am studying to be a personal trainer myself and have been training with some great trainers for over ten years. I can confidently say he's one of the top 5 trainers I have ever had the honor to work with over the course of the years. He's extremely dedicated to what he does, committed to what training is truly about, and is a definite inspiration to his clients. I worked out with the same group of amazing ladies each week and they were also an inspiration to me. I am so thankful they welcomed me so warmly into their group and the camaraderie was contagious. That class gave me the motivation I needed to show up and work hard three times a week. I left being in better shape than arrived too, which was a bonus! Lastly, the spa being on-site was a bonus. Noelle is one of the best massage therapists I've ever had work on me and will definitely be booking an appointment with her next time I'm in town. I never thought I would be part of a big-box gym, but LifeTime Bloomingdale gave me the boutique gym environment I needed for the duration of my stay. This gym serves its purpose you have all the amenities at your fingers tips. Spa, sauna, equipment, classes etc. but honestly what makes me not switch to a more "colorful" location are the people. Specifically if you have kids! Theirs a few in particular who are the reasons: Kelsey And Sarah and Brianna. They've been monumental in my children's development, feeling safe and reassuring that what they do is always in the interests of what's best for my two and four year old. If you have kids- bc of these people I can reassure you, you're getting the best care out there (not to mention mrs Susie who greets them at the front desk!) From the gyms perspective it is great but the really over qualified and amazing handful of employees mentioned deserve a gold medal for what they do. Filled with what seems like innumerable strength-training and cardio machines, along with opportunities for swimming, court-play, etc, the place is spacious, clean, well-lighted, and well-ventilated. I like lifetime. I go during off hours when it's not crazy busy. The built in childcare is perfect since I have a 4 and a 5 year old. I work out then take them to the pool for a while. Summertime is great. I don't have to sign up for pool trough my township and can even leave the kids in daycare if I want to lay out with a book for 30 min without them. Complaint - the pool area bathrooms are GROSS. They don't get cleaned for days at a time. They reek of urine and I saw the same poop stain for a week straight. Now that it's summer they need to step up their game or everyone will just start peeing in the pool to avoid the nasty bathrooms. read more

I was surprised to see the amount of bad reviews this facility has received. I love this gym. Being open 24 hours a day is so convenient for me. The sauna and pool area is amazing, although the floor seems like it doesn't get mopped too often. The shower area needs to have mats on the ground or something, i keep feeling like I'm going to fall. Other than these things, the gym is wonderful. Please add resistance bands to the area with the foam rollers,weights, and accessories. That would make this place even better. read more

I was also surprised to see any negative reviews. I've been a member for two years now, and Lifetime Fitness is the only upscale health club in the suburbs. Every professional at Lifetime is incredible. I work remotely and have an office set up in my house, so Lifetime is my second home. I recently had major surgery and had three discs removed and my cervical spine (neck) fused. I couldn't believe how much the trainers and yoga instructors helped me with my recovery. Everyone is incredible!!!! I'm actually moving, and my prerequisite was that I'd be close to a Lifetime location. I've lived in Bloomingdale for 13 years, and my new home is just a short drive down Lake Street in Addison, so I'll still go to the Bloomingdale location, which makes me happy. I'm sure if I moved closer to other locations, those clubs would be great, but Lifetime Bloomingdale is my happy place! read more

Edited to add: Due to no response to my inquiry about raising the dues, the lack of consistently working equipment and the lack of even caring about that, and the general dooshiness of the entire facility -- I've decided to spend less than one month's dues on P90X and have already seen more results. In other words, don't waste your money. You are a number there, not a person. ************************************************************************ I am dropping my review a star for the following reasons: 1. Dues were raised for 2012 without any sort of notification to the members whatsoever. This is really lousy business practice considering we now pay over $120/month for a membership. 2. I took a 3 month break or so during my kids football season, when I put the membership on hold -- they required a 30 day notice to process so I ended up with a month where I didn't even use the gym and had to pay for it. Whatever. It is what it is. That said, when I re-activated, they didn't need any sort of heads up notice and could process it right away. Convenient that they rip you off a month because they need their "30 days" but can magically change things immediately when you want to come back. That, and then they didn't have me re-activated in their system for another month even though I had the papers showing they did -- so everytime I checked in I had to show them the pink piece of paper proving it -- that was finally fixed two months later. 3. During that 3 month break, all the broken elipticals still remained broken (and some new ones broken as well) and still to this day remain broken. Again, we pay nearly $125/month to go to this gym -- the billing issues aside -- all this equipment should be working properly. It's absolutely ridiculous. read more

Have used this pool twice now with my son ( 5). My son was sitting on the tiles by the hot tub wrapped in a towel ( no feet in the water). I'm in the hot tub facing him 1 foot away. A lifeguard asked us to move so we did. as I'm gathering my bag and items to go back into the family locker room, the manager of AQ comes outs and as Rude as possible states, " HI ID LIKE TO CLARIFY OUR POOL RULES. Her face was prob 10 inches from mine and it was beyond uncomfortable. I didn't ask for clarification, I did as I was told and moved myself and my son from the hot tub area and simply went to gather my things. she started listing off names of regional managers and asking where I work and what I do. . and the lifeguards were all laughing. A few of our friends noticed the exchange and agreed that the aquatics manager at Bloomingdale should at a minimum have a stern talking to about how to approach guests. This lady was looking for a fight and our friends agreed- she should not manage with that kind of tone and attitude. To the tall male lifeguard who had us move, and we did without question or concern or issue, why run to the manager to berate a guest ? Because we asked about the rule and did as told ? if I wanted to speak to a manager, we know where to find her. It was unnecessary and aggressive. I have been trying to cancel a group training session and the charge keeps popping up on my monthly credit card statement and it is frustrating. Lifetime is trying to resolve this issue so I will have to see what happens. I know they are working in new instructors for group fitness and it is difficult but I have to say that the instructor for Barbell on Tuesday nite had the music so loud that she sounded like she was screaming at the class because she was trying to be louder than the music. I've emailed this club through the website form and checked off the box that asks for someone to contact multiple times since April 2019 (14+ weeks as of this review) and never received a response. 1. Can you let me know why no one responded to note below? Most of the hot tub jets (top and bottom) are missing the plastic piece that increases pressure so it provides a massage for your feet or back. Other clubs have this piece on ALL of the jets. It seems each time one of the plastic pieces breaks off it is not replaced and jet pressure drops further. 2. I have been a member for a few years now and continue to see this club go downhill. The building, lockerroom and parking lot are not maintained at all. I've reported broken glass in the parking to the front desk 3 times in over a month and no one has cleaned it up. The Upstairs is very dirty for a lifetime club. The trainers act like they own the place and are very disrespectful to members. Antony is the only one that I have ever seen that is respectful to the members or act with pride for his workplace. Greta acts like she owns the place and is rude to guests not in her class. I have witnessed on numerous occasions kick members off treadmills because she forgot to reserve them. It's disgusting she thinks her class is high enough to interrupt members workouts. The upstairs is half cleaned and hasn't had a deep cleaning in over Months. Equipment is not repaired and is falling apart. Right now numerous cardio equipment is broken and has been for weeks. Bikes, stair steppers, and treadmills. With great equipment right next to it that is turned off for Covid. You would think the staff would move the good equipment for use and put a sign on the broken equipment. In over 3 years I have never seen the indoor or outdoor slides in the pool open once. It's a shame because this use to be a nice club but now is far from what you expect when paying for a lifetime club. The General Manager is the only staff I have seen walk around and pick things up. I have been with lifetime fitness for more than 5 years, me and my whole family. If you do the math, it's over $7000. Recently ,I changed my credit card and they couldn't collect my monthly payment. They keep billing your account until you go there physically and cancel and it has to be a month in advance. Now, I owe them over $300 for 2 months I haven't used their facility. What a shame. Needless to say, they just lost me, my wife, and my whole family tree as a customer FOREVER. One more thing I forgot to mention, when I called to ask about my account, the lady became very rude the moment I told here I wanted to cancel. Let's preface this with some local alternatives: 1) Planet Fitness - $10/m (12 x $10 + $30 Annual Fee) = $150/ Year 2) Planet Fitness w. Tan - $20/m (12 x $20 + $40 Annual Fee) = $280/ Year 3) LA Fitness - $30/m (12 x $30) + $100 One-Time Fee = $360/ Year 4) Life Time - $6/m (12 x $67) + $50 One-Time Fee = $804/ Year Life Time gets 3 stars for quality, zero for value. I love Life Time, but it's become a REALLY weird place thanks to the price... less people are going there now, so if you like a huge place that feels empty and desolate, it's great. If you like a smaller place that feels more communal and thus gets you excited about working out with others, Life Time is a bad choice. (EDIT: They're still busy in the day, but if you go later at night, the large size of the place lends a cold feel to it.) It's a beautiful place made of marble and granite, but since people are only there to lift things and run around, you are essentially paying for the Ferrari of gyms when most other clubs will do you just fine with their slightly lower BMW-esque standards. So! If you're JUST exercising, go somewhere cheaper and save nearly $700-$1,000 per year(!) at Planet Fitness or a bit less savings at LA Fitness. If you like to tan ($200-$400 annually), pay the $20/month at Planet Fitness and that could save you over $1,000/year since you can skip the tanning salons while getting a gym membership too. (NOTE: PF's tanning beds are a bit crummier and you have to clean them yourself, but hey- save $1,000 per year, so whatever!) And it's true- Life Time keeps raising their dues. They remodeled the Bloomingdale building and really only replaced 10% of the treadmills and locker room cabinets, nothing else.
