It's too bad this location closed. I walked by yesterday and saw a new sign for a thrift store. I really enjoyed the carefully curated displays in the windows which were inviting and quirky. The store really added to the identity of the Hill and culture and I always would get a slice of hot mamas pizza after a good find and run into a friend while making my shopping rounds. When I think of Capitol Hill and Lifelong, I think of indie stores and boutiques, asymmetrical haircuts, and locals that really cared for the cause. I hope the new vibe is equally as giving to the community as Lifelong thrift was. You can't beat .10 cent bundle records or a Nike Dunk in good shape for $25. You can find furniture and housewares to CDs and athleisure. Lots of full length mirrors throughout the store for fit checks (or selfies). My favorite part would be the 10c or 50c bookshelves that suggest you purchase to stock your local free library. I loved shopping at Lifelong Thrift. Everybody in the store was helpful and cheerful toward their work. I love their music and book selection downstairs, and their prices were the best that we found out of the many secondhand shops we had checked out. This place had a little bit of everything and was all reasonably priced. Their cassettes were ten cents a piece! I would have paid more! My wife commented that it felt so comfortable to be in a place where everyone is accepted for who they are. I wish there were a way to export that positivity worldwide to other shops like this. While I like the fair prices and merchandise, this store is run by rude Nazi-like employees that that have sooo many strict rules and no understanding of a business model where a store is there to make sales and take in $ for their cause while trying not to offend the customer. Rules: -you cannot purchase anything from their window displays, - you must come back daily to see if the window display is changed and only then can you buy the item if you happen to see it anywhere in the store, -you must put your umbrella in the place by the front door, -you must wear a mask on Thurs. -you cannot buy items from certain areas of the store if it is "arts sale" day. etc etc Worse than the soup-Nazi store in Seinfeld TV show. read more

Lifelong is where the previous Red Light Vintage was. I have to say Lifelong seemed to follow through with being a very impressive vintage store like the previous tenant was. They have a wide variety of great looking clothes for men and women and an amazing variety of accessories. Just like Redlight you can go downstairs where there is a huge variety of inventory to investigate from small pieces of furniture to home decor. So much of the time when a vacancy is filled by a new business that is in a similar market than it's predecessor it just doesn't maintain my interest at least but the case here. All good things must come to an end. Let me preface this by saying that I am a professional thrift shopper. That undoubtedly colors my judgement here. However, it also means that I'm an expert on Seattle area thrift stores. I'm reviewing Lifelong as a thrift store, not a cash cow. I have *LOVED* lifelong. It was the first recommendation I'd give to anyone I really wanted to help thrift. The fun I had treasure hunting at Lifelong was directly responsible for my decision to start flipping. I've been coming there since it was in its old premises. I always looked forward to shopping there, and I'd go multiple times per week. They were the "purest" thrift store in the city--consistent sales, and a very real chance of finding extraordinary treasures. The treasures remain. But the thrift store does not. After they moved, Lifelong's prices began to increase. I both expected this and did not mind it. Lifelong is a charity--a fantastic one. They do not exist to support my eBay shenanigans; nor should they. I was glad to pay a bit extra. As time has gone on, however, things have gotten out of hand. As best I can tell, they now have someone in the back searching every single donation on eBay and pricing it at the highest listed point. Their prices on "normal" items are now broadly in line with the for-profit Crossroads Trading Co across the street, and their prices on "treasures" are... bad. I am a literal reseller--a filthy for-profit capitalist. And I would not ask what they ask for many of their "special" items. It's genuinely depressing to walk into a thrift store and see prices higher than you'd see on eBay. While they do still have sales, the interesting items are given white tags, which are never marked down more than 25%. As these items are grotesquely overpriced in the first place, they become merely overpriced when on sale. Again, Lifelong is a charity... I'm glad they're doing well. But the magic is gone. But I don't go to Lifelong multiple times per week anymore. They aren't my choice recommendation to friends. Shopping there isn't particularly fun. The treasure hunt is over. It feels like... work. I wish I could still love Lifelong Thrift Store... But now, it's strictly business. read more

First time coming here yesterday. I didn't find anything I loved but I feel like if I keep looking here I eventually will find a unique piece I love. Their prices were like old school thrifting prices ($8 for a cute sweater, $12 for a dress, had good sales too). I felt welcome and trusted. I was carrying a sweater I bought from crossroads across the street. Not once did an employee make me feel like they thought I was stealing. Didnt even question me when I left after buying nothing. Something I've experienced and witnessed in many other thrifting and clothing stores in Seattle. Downstairs they have records, art, and home goods. Definitely more of a treasure hunt vibe. I love this thrift store so much!! They have clothes on the upstairs section and furniture/trinkets/vinyls in the basement. I could spend hours (and $100's) here, they have a great selection and reasonable prices. They have multiple sales a day for different colors which makes it even more affordable. We bought several 50 cent vinyls and they all work great! I also picked up a few different vases for about $1 each and I love how they look. I agree with other reviewers that have commented about the astronomical climb in their asking prices. Over the years this has charted in line with the attitudes of certain employees of the store, including those at the managerial-level. It has become a profound disappointment. Yes, I am also a professional reseller, but, I am also a valuable customer and purveyor/collector of nice things for personal use. There are other shops in the area where I am welcomed, generously give gifts to the staff and donate frequently, as I used to do here. Because I no longer feel a part of their exclusive club that purportedly champions inclusivity--yes, I made an account just to share my experiences anonymously. Sue me. Since the pandemic began the quality of 'service' at Lifelong has declined at a rate similar to that of the incline of their prices. There are a couple of employees in particular that seem to relish in the new no returns/no exchanges policy and in pestering customers to complete their purchases post haste, lest they be turned to Gremlins. They train new hires to lie to customers stating the policy exists because the POS doesn't have capability to process returns... oh, really? All their good stuff is on Depop. Unless you enjoy being talked down to or glared at, just shop there. read more

As previous reviews have suggested, clothing here is both affordable and well maintained - on my last visit I was able to purchase 5 practically new items of clothing for 20$. I also appreciate the overall promotion of HIV/AIDS awareness throughout the store, whether posters for free testing or the bowl of free condoms - shopping here is for a good cause! A small thrift store that is two blocks from the Capitol Hill station. The staff here are friendly and helpful. They have a variety of music, household goods ,shoes, accessories and clothes for both men and women. They have at least for dressing rooms that have a limit of 10 clothes. The whole store is clean and very organized. One complaint I have is there isn't really an elevator for disabled customers so they would only be able to explore the second floor. I found small floral top that was priced at $4 but I got it for $1.20. I also found it a pearl ring that was priced at $5 but I got it for $4. overall, I think it's a great store and I would definitely visit them again. read more

By far the best thrift store I've been to in the Seattle area. Great prices, good brands, and the staff were extremely kind and helpful. They even told me about a carnival happening in the area because I had my toddler with me. I got two Anthro shirts (one for $1.50, one for $6), Banana Republic jeans ($8) and blouse ($4.50), an Urban Outfitters tee ($2.50), and a Loft faux-wrap dress ($3.75). I really don't want to leave a review because I don't want other people to get all of the good deals. I come here I try every Monday when they change their tags to the discounted prices. I love the pricing they have and I can actually afford to shop here with the discounted prices. I'm all for harm reduction I volunteer at PHRA for 3 years now and the money goes for a good cause for life long. I suggest coming here if you want some good deals. Crossroads donates everything to them that they don't want to re sell in their store. I love the pricing and weird things you can find at this store. Their dressing rooms are closed (which is unusual considering Covid has died down and most other businesses have opened theirs up again), so basically you are not allowed to try stuff on, yet they do not offer returns or exchanges? I've got so many good shirts here for under $10. In exchange for slightly lesser quality clothes compared to some competitors nearby, you have much better prices, friendlier staff, and better variety in styles and potential finds. I've yet to be let down by Lifelong and can happily say they're my favorite thrift store for getting some new clothes. You can also head downstairs to see non-clothing items which is fun since you never know what you may find. Was able to snag a nice desk chair for around $8 and even a ton of potty pads for my dog for literally $2 when it's normally around $15 or $20 at retail price. I love this place. You can find such an elective set of things here. From clothing to small electronics, a wide range of kitchen and other home decor interests. I tend to donate here as I support the mission. And the bonus is to shop here as well. The space is huge. Two floors. This place is so good I'm hesitant to give it a realistic rating/review, because I don't really want more people to know about it and start taking the good stuff before I can find it. My best find was a pair of brand new designer jeans, made in America out of Japanese selvedge denim. Probably cost from $250-450 new, and I got them for $35. Best jeans I've ever owned. Additionally, the staff here provides better customer service than what I got the last time I went to Macy's. Lifelong Thrift is like Nordstrom, but with a hit-or-miss selection and way better prices. Best thrifting I've found on Cap Hill, and comparable to Buffalo Exchange in the U District. read more

They have smaller selection, but they have a more variety of things. They had shoes, jewelry, and bags also. However, the quality of the clothes and other items seemed like they were well-used. The fitting rooms were also spacious and bright. Downstairs, there were books, records, and furniture. While I didn't buy anything, my friends found some cute clothes for really cheap. Seriously THE BEST thrift store I have ever been to in my WHOLE ENTIRE 22 YEARS OF LIFE. First, basically everything is on sale. They have colored tags, like green, pink, blue, yellow. And only one color is full price for the day. For example it could be like "pink=full price, blue=25% off, yellow=50% green=75%off" soooo that's amazing. Everything is priced really reasonably. I always find some sort of designer/name brand something (brand new Birkenstock's for $12, another time for $24). I usually walk out with 3 items for around $10.
