Great local gem in wallingford. It's always so tidy inside and the store associates are incredibly kind. They often do 50% depending on the color of the tags for the month--once I got a petite camel peacoat for myself for less than $9! This thift store is quite small. The sizes of clothing is quite limited as well. I did enjoy browsing their items though and did walk away with some things. I do appreciate their cause and will continue to visit to support them. Their taff is kind and their store is pretty clean. There is not much parking. I also believe their store hours are sporadic. I donated a suitcase of clothes here in 2017 (had to face the fact that gowns from a former life are no longer appropriate or needed to take up space). The staff graciously accepted my donations - thought my suitcase was part of the donation which I thought was a bit weird. The shop itself was nicely appointed, clothes, jewelry, glassware, shoes, coats, bags - I like that the store is organized and not a cluttered mess. I didn't find anything for myself, however, I took a picture of margarita glasses and sent it to a friend because the price was excellent. I think $3.00 a glass which was sweet compared to prices at Home Goods (which I also love). The parking is limited so be forewarned! read more

My rating for the store is five stars I would rate more if there was an option to. The volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable the place was extremely clean and organized very conducive to an amazing shopping experience. The clothing and other effects there are in amazing condition! I bought a probably $4000 Christia shearling coat for $25 and a brand newMovado watch for $175 ...new in the box!The only thing I have to say negative about my experience there was the incredibly rude selfish hogging of space lady who was so self-important that she thought she was the only person in the world and I'm laughing my ass off that she missed on the most incredible thing in that store... theshearling coat that I bought! I'm new to the area and saw this place the other day. I made a plan to come by and check it out this weekend because it seemed like a neat spot. I noticed after shopping for about 30 minutes that they were only allowing about 4 people in. I kept finding really great things and was not informed that I had a time limit before I had to leave. I tried on a few things because I found maybe 20+ things that I liked but was not going to buy them without finding out if they would fit me or not. Trying things on added on to my time in the shop. After deciding on a few things I was going to buy, I continued perusing into the section I had not gone into yet. Not 10 minutes passed when one of the workers who had been giving me the stink eye half the time without saying anything (which I just tried to ignore because I figured if I'm doing something wrong then they can just let me know) approached me and told me in a pretty rude tone that I really need to leave right now because there is a big line outside waiting to get in and I can't be standing there looking for hours. I was pretty offended by this and found her tone to be unprofessional as it was not polite in the least and I had no indication that I was on a time limit. I mentioned the fact that it had been maybe an hour at most and she scoffed. When I asked how I was supposed to know, she stated that they used to have a sign that said "30 minutes at most" which they no longer have... okay, that's nice. Since you no longer have that sign and you did not tell me before, how am I supposed to know? Copping an attitude like that is not right. Unlike the many people who were coming and going within 5 or 10 minutes without buying ANYTHING or maybe just 1 thing if at all, I bought a bagful of things and would have likely bought even more had I been given the time to look a little longer since I only had two rows left to check out. The woman who was rude to me was the short, larger Hispanic woman with a ponytail who was working today. The other, thinner, taller woman with short grey hair rand glasses was a sweetheart and very helpful by comparison to this other very rude lady. Seriously, she even stood there smirking and talking crap about me to another customer loudly when I went in to try on my final purchases. She makes this business lose even more money by forcing people out with an attitude instead of letting people know in advance that they are only allowed to look for a certain amount of time. I wanted to come back because the clothes are nice for the price. However, as long as someone as snarky and unfriendly as her works there and is hovering over customers half the time without telling them why, I am really not interested. People are not mind readers. I can't tell what your passive-aggressive behavior means. That's what customer service is all about. Interacting and communicating. When I explore a new place I like to explore all of it, not just peruse a few sections and then leave because I don't want to miss anything and I actually WANT to support small businesses. Rushing through it is not how thrifting really works if you are actually intending to make a purchase and aren't just being a lookie-loo trying to have something to do in the afternoon by checking out a quaint shop. My experience today tells me they do not want my business. I was considering returning until I had a run-in with this employee. I hope she is not the owner and that the owner does see this review and mentions it to her so that she can handle customer interactions more professionally in the future. read more

They are hardly ever open, very limited in what they will accept and when they will take donations. It's sad this business is all about keeping volunteers happy and making you feel like it's a privilege to shop there. I'm done with them and I know many other people who feel the same way. read more

If you love thrifting but hate the crazy high prices at once-affordable thrift stores (Goodwill and Salvation Army, I'm looking at you), you are going to love the Assistance League Thrift Shop. The shop is housed in a small little storefront on 45th. Kind of a tight fit inside but cozy, for sure. They have a great selection of clothing, housewares, linens, handbags, shoes, and some odds and ends. Items seem to be in a good, relatively clean condition. I walked out with a set of 4 white coffee mugs, a pair of brass candlesticks, and a framed picture for 12 bucks. The ladies who run the store are super sweet and mentioned that they put out new items every day. After today's trip, I'm definitely planning to work this store into my rotation of thrift shops in the Seattle area. read more

It looks like a house and has stairs, so it's cute (but, apparently, not handicap accessible). As soon as you walk in, you think you've made a mistake and are, instead, at an exclusive boutique, especially since, in today's case, Kristen (the League's president) was dressed to kill. But beyond the fantastic selection of smaller size clothes (mostly), wonderful dishes sets, and the big deal I got on a virtually brand new ski jacket and nice gloves, the fact that the money made goes to help kids is devine! And with Kristen and Nancy (a League member) super nice and accommodating, it's the best experience I've had at any store at a long, long, time. A fantastic gem! read more

well, it looks like and is supposed to be a thrift shop. I can't figure out how they make rent in Wallingford. Usually old uptight looking old suits from Nordstroms.. the kind of stuff your grandmother wore to church, but not what anyone would wear now. OR broken not well washed kitchen supplies. Ok old books and paperbacks. The staff is new or snobby or withdrawn, they don't care about people. I no longer waste my time. It's always the same. read more

Wow, this store is awesome. It really has a high-end feel without the sticker shock. The people who work there were so nice and friendly. This is a great place to shop with a lot of variety. There are a lot of good quality clothes, in particular, at low prices. It felt like I was in my favorite consignment shop. No junkie, questionable clothes. One of the other customers was buying a loom! I thought that was pretty awesome. I don't know how much it cost, but I'm sure it was a great deal. I picked up a Madewell sweater and a fleece The North Face jacket -- each was under $12! The space is cozy, but it's curated so well that it's easy to look at things. It also feels good to support the children. On that note, I'm happy to report that the employees didn't give me or my child attitude (*cough* Seattle Children's Shoreline *cough*). So, that's another plus. Since I knew my money was going to a good cause, I didn't bother to try on the clothes. If they don't fit, I'll likely pass them on to someone in need. Again, it's a smallish space. So, they might not have what you're looking for. But take a look around. A great treasure can be found on the cheap! read more

I went here because of the great Yelp reviews and it did not disappoint. It is for a more mature person (don't try to find concert shirts here!) but had really nice shoes and great house stuff and antiques. Not super cheap but decent prices on house stuff. Clothing was over priced for me. I got a Diane Von Furstenberg make up bag for $2 & beautiful gold Italian sandals for $6.50. Almost new shape. This place is run by volunteers and donate their proceeds to help others (kids buy school clothes) which is a lot more than I can say for Goodwill whose owner is filthy rich!! read more

it is odd to me that cathy g can say the staff doesnt care about people, the staff are volunteers who donate their free time to help people! children in fact; with money they raise for scholarships and clothing for low income kids. that said, i have gotten some great deals at this thrift store. it can be hit or miss for me, like any little thrift store, but i have scored some great retro pieces in very good condition (i had a stylish grandma!) as well as more current jeans and shoes. those folks keep a tidy and well organized little shop. read more

I live two buildings down from this little gem and the proximity is dangerous - there are just too many good deals! The truth is, half of the stuff in this place is a little outdated, I'm guessing due to the demographic makeup of the neighborhood it's in. But it doesn't take long to realize that there are some true finds hidden away for SUPER cheap. Many of the treasures are high end (again, rich Wallingford people donate here) but the prices are insanely low. I rarely leave the store empty handed and cannot remember a time I spent more than $10. read more

I live in Wallingford, just down the street from this store, and I've donated to and shopped here for years. This weekend I bought 4 champagne glasses (brand new in their box from Sur la Table) for only $4. A few weeks ago I found a beautiful pair of black heels for $5. They have TONS of great stuff and you'd never realize how much just walking past it on the street. Also, and this is really cool, the organization that runs it is called the Assistance League of Seattle and as I understand it, 100% of the profits from the Thrift Store go to their philanthropies. One of which is next door. It's called Operation School Bell and they provide new clothes to Seattle Public School kids in need. This is a win-win for everyone! read more

The Assistance League of Seattle Thrift Shop at 1415 N 45th St has been called Walllingford's "best kept secret." I know this firsthand because they have great merchandise at great prices. I love that they constantly have new and changing merchandise and that the money I spend there directly supports this non-profit's work in the local community. I've found some terrific men's & women's clothing, shoes, household goods, and holiday décor. The shop has no paid staff, only volunteers, so it makes my $ go very far!
