I hadn't had an eye exam in 6 years, but I got a complete eye exam last week at Lifetime and I am blown away with what technology can do now. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by incredibly friendly staff including Connor and Aishwarya. Not only friendly but knowledgeable and answered my constant questions that popped in my head. I had all sorts of deep scans of my eyes with different widgets. But, what's really neat is that this exam was completely televisit. Dr. To was able to control the eye tester and other instruments remotely. I've had done televisits before involving just talking through, but I wasn't expecting this, I had the Doctor on a screen next to me helping me through the exam. Doctor was super friendly and had calm bedside manner. I never know how to pick glasses, but after my exam, Jenica and Joe helped me from the huge selection of options. The care you will receive at Lifetime Eyecare is the absolute best. They were experts at using my VSP insurance benefits and I love that they offer Telehealth services as I needed an exam ASAP and their in office doctor was out of town. Avoid at all costs -- or you will be paying way more out of pocket than you are told or expect. While no complaints about the care providers themselves, the front office staff and insurance department are inefficient and unethical. Quoted one thing -- billed for something entirely different. After multiple credit card payments and very confusing statements the bills continued coming for a year later. Charges well over the reasonable and customary amounts. Even with bringing own set of frames AND good insurance that should have covered the majority of the costs for exam and glasses, billed $1117 out of pocket for 2 pairs of lenses, 1 pair of ordinary frames, and the "tests" that they recommended. Would never have agreed to these if they had been honest up front. After services provided, we have no recourse other than to warn others! Beware! read more

I've had numerous optometry visits for over 25 years. This is the first time I've been frustrated with a simple routine visit to update my glasses' prescription. My experience was having the technician perform the same tests numerous times without an explanation for what it was for or why she needed to repeat them. I pressed for what is happening and she said my eye pressure readings were high. I tried to get more information but she referred to the optometrist to answer. So I asked how are my eyes doing in comparison to a previous years, the optometrist very condescendingly said "I can't explain the numbers as you won't understand unless you know prisms". She seemed to mistake my silence for dullness. She went on to say more trying to fix it but only made her sound worse. Later in the day, 2 minutes of researching, I understood my prescription. I will not be returning to this office because the optometrist lacks bedside manners or interpersonal skills. Her lack of willingness to help her patients understand what is happening is disjappointmenting and a disservice. Ocular pressure is one of those topics you must explain specially after repeating and adding more tests that I later paid out of pocket. The additional test were not covered under comprehensive eye exam. read more

I went in to be examined for my Strabismus condition, and I don't think I could've received more incompetent treatment. Firstly, the front desk lied to my face when they said they'd bill my insurance, they did not. Secondly, after a full exam, I was told by the Doctor that "your condition has always been there, you're just now noticing it" and "Glasses won't help, in fact, it would make it worse!" He told me that glasses, contacts, surgery, nothing would help. That I'd just have to live with the eye-strain. Well, I wasn't okay with being told that there was nothing I could do, so I came to Anchorage to get a 2nd opinion, and within 10 minutes, my provider shot down everything that I was told by Lifetime, said that I SHOULD'VE been given a prescription for glasses, and that their neglect to do so may have possibly caused further damage to my eye. He was disgusted that Lifetime tried to pass my condition off as a "cosmetic" issue to suck the money out of me. Legal action is being researched. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. GO TO ANCHORAGE AND SEE A REAL PROFESSIONAL. TAKE CARE OF YOUR EYES PROPERLY!! read more

Went there for my first yearly eye exam, and it was fine. The glasses were great. Then the next year I went there and they said I needed another prescription. They dilated my eyes and then had me pick out what type of frames I would need. I picked my frames. They charged me $79.00 and I left. I got a call about an our later saying that they could upgrade my frames if I wanted because I have two forms of very good insurance which I thought I did, but when I asked about the insurance coverage on my frames while I was shopping there for them they said it would cost about $200.00 out of pocket if I wanted to upgrade. I said well I am back at work right now and I don't have time to drive down there and pick out another pair of frames. Then when my new glasses and frames arrived they didn't tell me and I called them after three weeks and they said, oh yeah they have been here for a week. I told them that someone there said they would call me when they came in and they laughed and said oh well someone must of dropped the ball. The glasses did not work like they should. I had trouble seeing my computer screen at work. I called and they said to come back in. They readjusted them told me to adjust my screen at work, and see if they helped. It didn't . So I went back again. Now I have yet to see the Dr. about this problem because I guess these people who sell you frames and are the experts, They said that the prescription is fine I probably just need to get another prescription to see my computer better. Okay no eye exam, they just ordered me another pair of glasses and frames and charged me another $79.00 and said that they would call me when they came in. Again another three weeks of me tilting my head of reading blurred vision I called them and sure enough my glasses have been ready for me to pick up for about a week. The computer glasses worked fine but I had a hard time remembering to take them off when I left work and put on my regular glasses. After bout 6 months of trying to remember , I just chose to wear them full time until my next year eye exam. Oh by the way, I was reimbursed $158.00 from my insurance company for the out of pocket that they shouldn't of charged me. So eye exam time comes and they are Jonny on the spot reminding me with text and phone calls of when I want to schedule that yearly eye exam, which I thought was pretty funny that they don't seem to drop the ball on that. I chose to go to their competition instead at the Jorden Creek Mall. The Dr. there got my prescription right the first time. One pair of glasses. He said if he didn't he would return them. The staff was great, they knew I didn't want any out of pocket expense and got a $2,000.00 pair of glasses without spending a dime. They promptly informed me when my glasses were ready to be picked up. That's how I like to do business and I am going to stick with them. read more
