This business charges over $115 for "fitting fee" which is just a legal scam some vision places are going about by charging you this amount for a pair of contacts that cost a few dollars. They also do not add certain screenings and expenses to the bill provided to the insurance instead wanting you to pay the full amount up-front out of pocket. To put this in perspective, I am double covered for vision insurance, and my cost for an exam and 6 months of contacts was $170.00. That is much higher than anywhere (or anytime) that I have had my vision checked. Then to boot, in order to find out how my charges were so high, it took over three weeks of phone calls and emails to finally get a response from the billing department. I will pay the bill, and never give this company my business again. read more

I felt like I had something in my eye and called to get an appointment. They got me in pretty quickly and found an eyelash in my eye but something still didn't feel right. I called back the next day to get another appointment and the receptionist said they were booked but would call me back. Never did. I called again and was told a tech needed to call me to get more information. Never did. So, I called another optometrist and they got me in right away and examined me again and referred me on to a specialist. Turns out I had lymphoma and luckily they caught it early. I can't recommend anyone considering using this provider. read more

I came in on a cruise ship and on my way to an outside excursion I fell and bent my glasses. We had a taxi bring us to the center and they were so kind. They fixed my glasses for me in a matter of minutes and then told me there was no charge. I don't know of many businesses are so kind to tourist. A big thanks goes out to them. read more

The folks at Alaska Vision Center saved my Alaskan vacation! On the third day of our 10 day Alaskan cruise I broke my glasses in half. Electrical tape purchased before we got back on the ship proved futile (I could have lived with the Hansen brother look). Our next stop was Juneau and we had 12 hours in port. We had scheduled a six hour whale watching excursion that started upon arrival in Juneau (I did have my prescription sunglasses so the whale watching was a go). I had to figure out how to get to a place that could repair or replace my glasses during our stay in Juneau. Using the internet on the ship, I found Alaska Vision Center in Juneau. I called before we reached port and talked to Sharon. I shared my problem with Sharon and she proposed some possible solutions; repairing my frames, finding frames that could hold my not-broken lenses or finding lenses they had in house to match my prescription. I called the Juneau taxi company from the ship and got them ready to meet me on the dock area before my excursion left. About five hours, after I had passed on my broken glasses and the address of Alaska Vision Center to a nice cab driver, Sharon called me to tell me that they had put my lenses into a very similar frame that they had available, she wanted to confirm that I was amenable to the cost before she charged my credit card. Of course I was. Upon getting back to the dock, my wife and I took a cab tour of Juneau (highly recommended) as we went to pick up my glasses. They fit perfectly, no tweaking necessary! With our itinerary, this had been my only opportunity to get these glasses. I can't imagine not being able to see the wonders of Alaska on what is likely a once in a lifetime trip. The only outstanding issues were that I missed Sharon as she had already left for the day and I had neglected to take a bottle of wine as a thank you.
