The head lady had me waiting for 10 minutes and she went back and forth back into the salon to talk to different ladies. I was very flustered, knew there had to be a mistake but would've needed a note pad and paper lined up with their menu to map it all out. I still tipped 10% which is lower than my usual 20%, but I felt icky - I knew it was too much because I had been tracking it along the way, and felt tricked by the randomness of charges on the receipt ($5 here, $10 there, another three charges of $5, adult manicure for a child, child manicure for a different child who had the same thing done, etc.). He would not stop and continued airing complaints about his employee, I asked him to have this conversation with her privately, not in front of clients. He than told me I must follow his policy when in his salon and he said I am on camera and pointed to cameras he has in the shop on each tech. Again I asked him to please stop! I told him that the Nail Tech did nothing wrong, we were discussing clothes and an upcoming wedding and she shared a photo. I've been called 5 minutes before my appointment and told "you need to come a different day, we are too busy" despite making an appointment 3 weeks prior to my appointment day. I always tip a generous 20-25% as well. I always get push back when I try a schedule on a Friday or weekend despite scheduling 3 weeks in advance "we are busy those days, you need to do a different day". The appointment book is in front of me during this time and I see no appointments. I always scheduled on convenient times that works for them, for example a Tuesday at 2pm. Even with these appointments I'm waiting 25 min or so. Frustrating.... Wouldn't recommend,

Instead of pushing back my cuticles he used some electrical cuticle round bit and literally indented my nails and ruined my nail beds. He asked me to wash my hands and when he had not even cleaned under my nails. I had to request he scrape out under my nails. He also gooped on the nail polish so thick I had to wait almost a half hour to leave. My nails began peeling off by the second day. It was a waste of money as every nail was chipping off by day 3 and now, I can see my nails and cuticle area are really messed up. I rarely post but feel I must provide a fair warning to others.

The entire 90-minute appointment felt like pure heaven! My nail artist, Yen, did an absolutely superb job. She is meticulous, skilled, and truly made me feel so relaxed and refreshed. Beyond the excellent service, I have to praise the atmosphere: The facility was spotlessly clean. The ambient music was at the perfect volume--nothing was too loud. Massage chair was so comfortable. It happens but.... 1) The footbath was freezing so I asked if she could make it warmer. Apparently that meant she had to empty the tub and start all over again rather than just adding hot water. When it was refilled she asked me how the water was this time and I said 'Much better thank you!" she then proceeded to stick her hand in the water to test it. The tub is required to be clean and disinfected yet she made it completely unsanitary by sticking her hand in it! 2) When it came time for my manicure, she 'cut down' my NATURAL nails with the e-file!! She did not take a nail clipper or file them. I repeat, she drilled my natural nails!! 3) When it came time to paint them, I stopped her after one hand because it didn't look right. I compared the color in the book (plum) to the color on my hands (bubble gum pink) and it was clear they were not the same. Amy told me that's because the colors in the book fade and aren't true to the polish. Well, that's a great way to waste both of our time because now you have to wait while I pick out a new color, remove the polish, and repaint. 4) Lastly, they charged me for a full gel manicure even though I did not soak my nails, cut my cuticles, etc. When I asked why they charged me for a full manicure ($42) and not the $30 they stated a gel polish change was they said they only do polish changes if your nail color is brand new. Huh? Are we just making things up now? Because I get gel polishe changes done all the time elsewhere and have never been told this 'exception.' It's fine that Zen doesn't do Gel Polish changes, that's their right as a business, but they should have told me that when I made my appointment or when when i arrived and repeated the services I wanted. Don't pull a bait and switch at the register!I will NEVER be back.
