absolutely no! Weve been paying for quarterly service and phone monitoring for last 8 years. not getting either. started out as Republic elevator in Goleta. bought out by Schindler. If they'd service they would know there is no phone service in elevator and valve is out so it contantly levels itself and stops mid floor. they haven't serviced for at least 2 years. and of course there's no one to contact. can't emphasize enough, stay away from this company!! read more

Our building uses Schindler elevators and they have taken over 5 months to repair an elevator that was supposed to be completed after a couple weeks. Apparently it was "taking longer than expected" but we would never see the staff working on it, just sitting outside next tot heir van chatting and hanging out. read more

We used to be with 5 Star and they sold to Schindler, so far we are beyond disappointed and even distressed at the COMPLETE LACK OF APATHY they have shown for our residents. Our elevator broke down on Sunday November 17th, given that we have a contract with them we decided to waiting until the next morning would be best to be mindful of how we use our HOA resources rather than incurring an emergency visit rate where there was no guarantee anyone would come quickly anyway. I scheduled my work meetings to meet with the technician (Jose) who did show up on Monday morning, did his best but could not resolve the issues and stated he had to request a "troubleshooter" and stated he would ask that our building be prioritized given that he observed the aging and somewhat mobility challenged population and that we should call the office for ETA updates. Our management company diligently called and emailed DAILY expressing the great urgency of restoring our elevator service, the repeated answer was that someone would "send a message" to the troubleshooter and get back to her with an ETA and that was "all they could do". Day after day no such communication was made to us regarding status and ETA, meanwhile our population is either struggling up and down the stairs or held hostage in their homes because they cannot handle stairs, should anyone have an emergency where they have to get somewhere quickly what are they to do? Call the fire department? They are already resource-challenged and to utilize them this way is unfair to our city. By Wednesday we were becoming desperate as many residents are trying to shop for Thanksgiving or travel to loved ones but they cannot due to Schindler's apathetic indifference to our plight. I contacted Jose again and asked what could be done and he was empathetic and let me know he would reach out again and repeat the urgency of the situation. He told me his boss would call me, that call never came but they did finally contact our management company and state they would "tentatively" schedule a troubleshooter for NEXT TUESDAY (11/26), 2 days before Thanksgiving. We have been without this critical service for over a week. We are nearly at an emergency status as residents have to come to grips with the possibility that they will not be able to share the Thanksgiving holiday with their loved ones or worse, if they have an emergency they will not be able to get where they need to be in time. I offered to make myself available at ANY time during the week and next week if they could get anyone out sooner but they don't care. @Schindler collects their monthly maintenance contract rate without fail then cannot be bothered to get back to us when we are BEGGING for help. We NEVER had this issue with 5 Star, we had no choice in being handed to @Schindler, we had no opportunity to vet them. Now seeing all these negative reviews we are beyond disappointed and overwhelmed with the results of their indifference and apathy toward our community. @Schindler, what if one of our residents was one of your relatives or loved ones, would you still disregard our requests and push us out over a week and ignore our requests for updates? Again we beseech them to at the very least be communicative about what they are going to do and FOLLOW THROUGH WITH IT. read more

STAY AWAY from this company: I work in an office building and dropped my keys down the elevator shaft later that night and reported the incident to the building management. The building management put in a service request and the technician (?) came out next day around 10 a.m. He opened up the elevator and saw that the keys were about 15 feet below from the ground level sitting on the floor. He inspected the elevator shaft and declared that it is unsafe to put the ladder on the floor to go down 15 feet and retrieve the keys. My building security staff brings a long fish hook and pulls the keys right out. I'm happy and his job here is done. I am told by the building management that there will be an approximate charge of $250 (based in their experience to be fair, not an actual quote). 1 month later I receive a bill for $769?!! With a note that I was offered a 10% discount. The invoice description was "Keys dropped in PIT of elevator. Found unsafe conditions so I was not able to access the Pit. Removed keys with a long rod and a hook. No right side ladder rung and gutter is in the way. Observed the operation and returned to service" So the technician came, opened up the shaft and stood there while my building security pulled the keys out with their equipment and I get a bill of $770 for keys that are worth $250. Never have I ever seen a bigger scam than this. It's appalling that they are billing this amount when their technician basically stood there, was extremely rude and know it all for someone who couldn't even think of pulling out keys with a different tool. I as well wish I could give Schindler elevators a 0 rating. For a month I have called them to service our elevator a very nice and descent technician did come out to see the elevator and said he could not do anything about it because a part needed to be ordered. For a month I have called to get the part have not received a call from the saleperson, field supervisor not even the Regional Director. I have reached out to the salesperson he called and said he would find out what happened, and we never heard back. It is a shame as the technicians are old fashioned tech who know their business but the customer service, management do not treat their clients as they should. I have never and I have worked in property management many years, had to call a service provider/vendor as many times as I had to call Schindler. Obviously, I have reached out to another company to do our repairs as I am scared someone may get stuck in that elevator waiting for Schindler!!!!! Shame on you Schindler!!! Schindler followed up after a almost six week fiasco while our elevator was down and they are putting in some communication protocols that will keep our building in the loop and make sure that technicians are able to get into our building without needing involvement from our residents and management. They also have an online managment system that they are going to make available to us so that we know when a tech is on her/his way out and what the specific problem is with the elevator. Three people from their office came out to meet with someone from our HOA and they inspected both of our elevator cars and our elevator room. I'm impressed with their response and am looking forward to faster resolution of our elevator issues. read more

We use Schindler Elevator and I am now in process of looking elsewhere!! I've been with my company for a long time and we have lost our normal tech who cared. Now we have different people and they all are awful!!!!! EVERY time they do a PM we have issues with elevators to the point we must take them out of service. I guess they wont care unless someone dies! I even had to call fire department after a service because elevator stopped working with freight in it!!! GO TO ANOTHER COMPANY, FIND ONE THAT INSPECTS ALL ELEVATORS. When Schindler tells you you cant do that, show them the door. Proprietary means parts, not technichians................ I think the federal government and state of California needs to know about their awful work work, as it directly affects safety!!!!! read more

My building has an elevator from this company and the elevator broke down around December 24th. It is now January 22nd and the elevator is STILL not fixed! Our building board members have contacted the company every day and still nothing. It has been a HUGE inconvenience to be without the elevator. A lot of people have a lot of things to haul down. I personally got a wagon for Christmas so that i could easily transport things to my apartment, but haven't been able to use it since we are without an elevator. Rough. I've never seen a more incompetent and/or corrupt business. I live in a building that insists on sticking with this company even though they are called out at least once a week to fix one of three (Schindler made) elevators. They get paid for each visit so it's in their best interest to NOT actually fix the elevators; never mind the fact that people are constantly getting stuck in the elevators, requiring the fire department to come get them out. Don't use this company. I have stated before how they use deceptive and unethical business practices to trap people in to long term contracts with no recourse to get out so their service is complete crap as they know they don't have to work hard. Now they also do not fulfill the terms of even an amended contract. I have an amendment with a specific amount per quarter and now low and behold they charged nearly 50% more on top of that invoice. Note NO additional work has been done. Good luck contacting them I have been reaching out and getting nothing in return. I pay this company $400.00 per month for a virtually useless agreement and they are trying to charge me additional $500.00 for their service tech to drive over and turn a key and leave after a major power outage we had. It took longer to wait for the tech to find his paper work for me to sign, than it did for him to turn the key. Really, $500?? The worst company to deal with. They charged me storage fee when they didn't even have the material manufactured. I had all the delivery tags as proof but they forced me to pay storage fees. They told us to have a generator on site which we did but when they came they said they were not allowed to run the generator and we had to postpone the work one week while paying for generator rentals. Then when their workers came I took pictures of them running the generator and when I confronted their supervisor they didn't respond. Not only did we have to pay for additional generator rent they charged me another fee for coming a week later. Their trick is they quote a low figure in the beginning and then they start all sorts of excuses to charge you here and there. Be cautions if you use their services. read more

We have over elevators that they are unable to keep up and running primarily because their technicians can't work on over elevators. on any given day I will have for elevators out of service. We have a contract that unfortunately we are stuck with. Schindler thought we were going to put new elevators in, but when will they realize we weren't going to anytime soon their service dropped off dramatically. Called 4 phone lines everyday for one week. no response. Receptionist apologizes and tries to help. We have one elevator that serves a 3-story bldg. Our patrons are usually Sr. Citizens and they use an interior metal fire escape to visit our office. This is very dangerous for them. It almost appears, the company does not have enough techs to service their customers. The company does not provide a renewal notice (5 years) and their quarterly fee is very expensive. The contract renews itself unless you inform them 10 days in advance. read more

Schindler Elevator is a company the has the monopoly on its expensive parts and service. With this being said, customer service takes a back seat to almost everything they do. They are slow to return phone calls and emails for elevator service. It can take weeks for them to complete a job. When asked about the delay in responses, their representatives have no problem responding that they are busy. It is truly poor customer service. read more

You sign up for a service contract so that they will warranty your elevator but every call they find some reason that it is not covered under the contract and charge $350 to $700 an hour to repair the elevator that should not have broken down in the first place. read more

First of all, please, please, please NEVER do business with this company. We were new business owners in 2014 and signed with them the next year. The degree of which we were not knowledgeable and taken advantage of by this company was profound. If you pay them thousands of dollars a year, they can still charge you for almost anything and everything and do. Service calls, maintenance all have a cost and it is significant. The fine print was that this contract is for 10 years. I kid you not. Additionally unless you write to them within a 30 day window, 3 months prior to it expiring (in January 2025) it will automatically renew for another 10 years!!!. Oh, and by the way, they get to raise the rate (this year almost 6%) based on their costs, whatever that really means. Based on compound raises, that will put my initial very expensive rate at almost 100% increase at the 10 year mark. Here is to hoping that I can get a certified letter to them within that 30 day window 6 years from now. By the way, don't even try to get out of their contract afterwards, all you get is legal references and threats. read more

I THINK 1 STAR IS TO GENEROUS! I was moving in a building with a schindler elevator. I needed special equipment to move in the elevators. I sent full specs and weights to get approval from Schindler Management. They confirmed 3 times in writing before the move and I bought the equipment. Then on moving day they removed the approval and left me with a bill of over $60k of costs. Worst they won't reimburse and just send me to their legal department. Then they take forever to respond. I've waited over a month in some cases just to get 1 response. If this review prevents 1 person from doing business with them I hope to of saved atleast 1 person the pain I'm going through. read more
