I was on crutches my first appointment and figured I'd give acupuncture a try since it's always helped me when I was doing martial arts in my younger days. I'm so glad I went! Yoevita was helpful, patient, and very sweet! The sessions were relaxing, the needles are ok if you don't look even though they don't hurt, and I had a nice snooze while the needles went to work. The massage ointments she recommended were great when I used them at home since I was only supposed to ice for a few weeks. She told me to not use my brace and monitored my progress until I was 100%. Kaile is very gentle with her acupuncture technique - she's very focused on what areas she wants to address in a session and explains what she's doing and why. I know I do feel better afterwards and it increases over time. I love the fact that her goal is to get you back to optimal health and to just come in for a tune up when you need. I don't like needles, so Kaile uses the smallest ones they have and I hardly feel them going in - and they are very effective. She's very sensitive about your comfort level. My doula and midwife suggested I get acupuncture. My due date is in 2 days and they recommended Light & Joy. So glad I took them up on that suggestion. The acupuncturist, Karen, is amazing. I have had aches and pains from years of sports and have tried so many different treatments for relief. I was convinced to try acupuncture and was referred to Karen. She was very knowledgeable and kind and explained the process and reason for each area she was treating. I have been seeing Yoevita and Kaile for a few months now and WOW. Whether I am feeling low energy, or like I am coming down with something their treatments fixed me right up. It is practically impossible to find care like this in Los Gatos. Especially from a practice that accepts insurance. Yoevita has been a godsend helping me through cancer treatments. I was referred to her by my doctor to prevent dry mouth, a side effect from radiation, and it worked!! I was able to keep eating and didn't get any painful mouth sores. Beyond being skilled and effective, she's probably the most caring and compassionate practitioner that I've ever come across. She's truly doing what she loves and her passion is to help people. This review is for their billing practices, not the acupuncturists themselves. I went to this office on two occasions while I was pregnant to try to help my breech baby turn head down. This office does take my insurance, and they are considered in network, so I am completely covered for these visits. Oddly, they asked for me pay for the visits out of pocket and reassured me that once they submit the claim I would be reimbursed by my insurance company. I thought this was very odd, but I complied. It is over six weeks later and per my insurance company they still have not submitted the claim. I have already been reimbursed by my insurance company for the chiropractic visits I had at this office because they actually had me submit those claims myself! I have made several attempts to call this office and get the claims submitted. Each time I am given the run around by the receptionist (if they even answer the phone). My most recent attempt at calling them was again unsuccessful. I received their voice-mail during business hours which states that someone will call back within 48 hours... 72 hours later with no call back I called them again. Again, the receptionist gives me no straight answer and tells me she will try to have someone call me back on the following Monday. Unbelievable! Of course this is how they treat someone once they already have your money. I don't think I should have to constantly call them to follow up on having them submit my claim to my insurance company! My baby has since been born, and I have no time to constantly call and remind them to do their job. Maybe they are just hoping I forget so they can keep my cash payment. This is really bad business on their part and I will not be recommending them to anyone because of this. read more
