Brought my son in for back and leg pain. He received cupping and acupuncture needles with electronic stimulation attached to the needles. He said the pain doubled from this treatment. He also now has numbness in his foot that he didn't have before. It's been a week since treatment and his foot is still numb and the back pain and leg pain haven't gotten any better. I usually don't write any review but I want to thank Dr. yu as he was very kind and amazing. My my mother is 80 years old and for three weeks strong back pain that the ER room did nothing for her but put her on pain medication. Finally I called Zen Acupuncture and she had one treatment. Thank God she walk up not feeling pain and the pain level decreased a lot and she no longer needs the pain medication. Dr. Yu was very kind to my mother. He helped to receive the treatment in a setting position as she can't lay flat on her stomach. He was very caring and extremely knowledgeable. He also noted other issues with my mother's feet and immediately did a treatment for the feet as well. Before I call Zen Acupuncture I took my mother to another acupuncture in Redwood City and when she saw my mother walking with walker and was in a lot of pain she refused to do any treatment. I just arrived in the Bay Area and need acupuncture treatment. After a series of phone calls, I chose Zen Acupuncture & Herbs. Sure enough, I made the right decision. First of all, it is close to Exit 101 and is surrounded by shopping malls, which is very convenient. Except treatment, you can also do some shopping and enjoy meal with different style. The clinic is not big, but fully equipped and very cozy. Most important facts are that all doctors are very educated, very knowledgeable, have very strong medical backgrounds. They patiently listened to the patients, carefully formulated the plan. After two treatments, my illness was greatly reduced. I am so pleased. I wish I can give this place 0 stars. I usually get my herbs from SoCal because the quality is better and cheaper. However, I ran out last week when I got sick with a cold/sinus infection. I was stressing out about where to get my prescription filled in this area since there are not too many Chinese apothecaries here. I stumbled upon Zen on Yelp and was wary about trying it, but beggars can't be choosers, right? One star for the receptionist (?)/ office manager. She was great. I can't say the same for the doctor. She barely gave me a glance when I told her that I needed some herbs and upon reviewing the prescription, she said that it was going to be expensive. I expected a bit of an upcharge given that there are not too many herbal stores in the area. I told her it was fine as long as she had all the ingredients. She said that she does. The total cost was $39 ($13/packet), which is pretty steep compared to SoCal, but as long as it does its job, I did not care about the price. When I picked up the herbs, she said that the prescription was "weak" and was not going to be effective. I wanted to tell her that I've been taking this prescription for years, but held my tongue. When I got home and opened the packet, I realized that there are certain herbs that were missing AND some of the herbs that she gave was not the right amount (less). After taking it for three days, I did feel better, but when I finished the prescription I felt sick again. I did a more thorough research and found another herbal store and got my prescription filled there. The total was $22.50 ($7.50/packet). So not only did she charge me almost double, but she short changed me in the amount of herbs. She clearly did not take the Hippocratic Oath since she was okay with not filling the prescription correctly. read more

These guys were awesome. I was nursing a pinched nerve from cycling and had trouble shaking it off. In response to this doctor ridiculous and untruthful reply to my review, I'm even more disappointed with this place. She claim that I told her I had throat pain, which I did not. I remember I clearly told her I feel completely fine other than my voice was a little brassy. I told her I just wanted a cupping treatment like what I set appointment for on the phone. She just refused. Let me also add I walked in to this place a week before after a baseball game, and told her I lost my voice a little that I needed some Luohabguo, which is a Chinese herb. What she charged me was twice as much as what I pay in the Chinese herb store in Milbare! . She also claimed that she asked me to sit down which she never did. I mean how would she knew what " condition" I have when she only spoke to 6 feet away, without any diagnosis. All she said was she could give me Chinese medicine for a week. My son and I having been seeing Dr. Patel for a little over 9 months for acupuncture and cupping. I love cupping. When I began I was having stomach issues, insomnia, headaches, Menopause issues, and I smoked a pack a day. Dr. Wang is a very nice and very experienced TCM doctor. Her acupuncture treatment is perfect. I used to be sleepless in the night and the condition became worse and worse with time going on, -everybody knows it is really a terrible feeling. My husband and I have been going to this place for a year and half and it has helped our health tremendously. This is a little gem of a place where the doctor and masseuses are very caring and professional. I started out with migraines and back pain and with sessions once a week I am much better now.
